At work I am getting java errors whenever I try to use 'search' and it won't display results, but I have searched all over google with no luck. I'm trying to count how many cells are filled with a specific color and only the ones that have data in them.
On my spreadsheet I have multiple rows and cells containing alphanumeric text (text is a combination of a person's name and goals scored) i.e. Holland1 appears in row 3 cell P3 then Holland3 appears in row 6 cell O6.
What I would like to be able to do is have a forumla that looks at every row and cell in my range and sum the numbers of the alphnumeric text if the cell contains a certain name i.e Holland.
I had tried to use the array formula =1*MID(A1,MATCH(TRUE,ISNUMBER(1*MID(A1,ROW($1:$26),1)),0),COUNT(1*MID(A1,ROW($1:$26),1))) which I found on the internet but this only works for one cell and doesn't allow for a set criteria to be met.
I have a data table that contains begin dates, end dates, and colors. The data is input starting with the earliest begin date. On a second worksheet, I have a listing of the years starting with the year of the first begin date and ending with the end of this year. I need to be able to pull any color choices associated with a year from the data table on the first worksheet. Some years may not be specifically listed in the data sheet as the person could have had the same color choice for several years. Sometimes a person could have more than one color choice in a year.
I am at a loss for how to get to the data I need. I created an example spreadsheet to demonstrate the data I am working with, and an example of what I need my results to look like in the end.
In excel 2000, I am trying to count the lines in a spreadsheet that has the first cell in each row highlighed in yellow. Additionally, I am trying to count the number of rows that has a red font used in the cell in column D.
I have reviewed other posts by searching counting highlighted cells, but I do not understand how to complete the entire process. One of the suggestion was to create a vb script in combination with using =cellindex(??). I do not really understand how to create this, name it and the run it.
I need to automatically populate a column with an alphanumeric MFR0001 to MFR9999 and am currently using the formula below to add 1 to the start point (A1)...
A1=MFR0001 Formula in A2 =LEFT(C1,3)&(RIGHT(C1,4)+1)
This works perfectly if I start at MFR1000, but breaks and drops the 000 if I use it on the number I need to start with (MFR0001).
My specification is: Calculate how many people within the UK live in a given area. Within that area what are the different age distributions (0-5 years old, 6-10 years, etc.) Then display the data twice - 1/ show each age range and how many people in the given area fall into each one. 2/ As before only report on people in the given area, and display age range, but also display them by ID number (col E in example file).
Can someone help me build the pivot tables that performs my analysis? (I got it working with countifs but it was an inelegant longwinded kludge.)
I've attached an example (.xls zipped up) which shows the data on one tab and my failed pivot table attempt on another.
I have a long list of delegates attending functions on different dates and need help with 2 problems:
A) List has filters by date/venue etc but I will want the table to be visible even when list is filtered.
B) I am using the following formula to count "=SUMPRODUCT(--($E$3:$E$728="Thursday 3rd September 2009"),SUBTOTAL(3,OFFSET($E$3,ROW($E$3:$E728)-MIN(ROW($E$3:$E$728)),,1)))" and this works but if I filter to another date then 3rd September shows 0.
I'm looking for a formula or function to identify cells that are alpha numeric. The alpha is not necessarily in the same place (i.e. 1st, 4th. etc) in each cell. Some cells are all numeric.
What can I do to identify cells that are alpha numeric?
I've tried several things to accomplish this with no luck, but I'm sure it's not too tough to do:
On my worksheet, I am entering columns of cells with alphanumeric data. The data are actually thousands of reference numbers that need to go in chronological order, with only the numerals changing (e.g., ABC0001DEF, ABC0002DEF, ABC0003DEF..., with "ABC" and "DEF" always the same).
I can create a series just fine if I leave off the "DEF" part of the reference numbers (by selecting the first couple cells in the series and using the fill handle), but I can't get the same results with the numerals "nested" within the reference numbers (i.e., ABC####DEF).
It sure would save me a lot of typing to be able to create a series to fill in all my reference numbers!
I'm currently working on a spreadsheet for my husbands work in a school environment. All was going well until I hit a wall with the alphanumeric data of the current uk stats system. Is there any way of getting my 4c...4b...4a...etc. to chart?
I require a custom formula for in cell data validation of an 5 digit alphanumeric entry. The valid format is ANNNN (1 x alpha & 4 x numeric). Case of the aplha is not an issue.
I want to make this code more efficient by searching for either 1kp, 2kp or 3kp in one process & 'doing the same thing' at one time. How do I achieve this?
Explained slightly differently, the code should look something like this:- Find 1kp or 2kp or 3kp. Then do something with the found results.
I have a column of data that contains text such as 'as per A3', 'B4 requested' and 'as per F6 Mark' (these aren't cell references).
I'm trying to find a formula that will just strip out the 'A3', 'B4' and 'F6' element of the text. I've tried SEARCH with wildcards but it's not working, and can;t use the LEFT RIGHT or MID functions due to the inconsistent data.
Columns A & B contain several thousand Project Numbers (e.g., P1052, PA844, etc.). Many of the Project Numbers in column B are the same as in column A, but column B also has additional (i.e., newer) Project Numbers scattered throughout. Ideally, I would like to use a built-in function (versus a custom function if possible) that compares all the Project Numbers in both columns and then separately lists those that are unique to column B.
I have attached the relevant spreadsheet for which I need to alter the color of the columns based on Site number ( Sheet 1). % Mortality will be represented in the Y-Axis, and the Site numbers would be on the X-Axis. All columns (% Mortality) except one will be of the same color, and the one of a different color will indicate a specific site. As an example, site 86 is colored differently. The way I require the chart to look is shown on Sheet 1.
After reading through some great posts on Ozgrid, I managed to do this using conditional formatting (Sheet 2), but that sort of falls short because I am required to add a data table to the chart, and the parameter that is indicated by the column bars happens to appear twice in the data table.
I was wondering if this can be automated maybe using VBA, but with the possibility of simply matching the color of columns with the font color of respective entry in the data series.
I think the title pretty much says it all... Now I have a file I can't send to anyone to do anything with... I've googled a few things but I've found nothing to work with... It was only a few hours worth of work but this seems ridiculous...
If possible I want to know if the code below can be changed. At the moment it searches for cells not marked with an X and then prints the remaining cells.
I have been expounding the virtues of this website to several people at work, and I swore to one of them that I have seen a posting regarding the ability to count cells by color.
Right now, she has a payroll spreadsheet, using different colors, where she has the cells coded with numbers. The formula she uses counts the cells with red (all coded with "1"s), blue (all coded as "2"s), etc. I remember a posting that, I believe, uses COUNTIF.
if it actually possible to colour data points depending on the colour of the cell of the data it refers to? if not is it possible to colour it any other way i have uneven amounts of data for weach month but still want the months to be displayed, this is the best way i can think of of doing this
I have a calendar in the sheet attached. If there are leave dates that are marked in red, can I create a formula to count the number of leave dates for the entire year ?
In Excel 2003, I have a checkbox in a cell (C15). I want a range of cells (F15:O15) to respond to this box. When the box is not checked and someone attempts to alter one of the cells in the range, I want a message box to appear, and then to have the data input in that cell removed.
The cells in the range are a mix of drop down lists using data validation and check boxes, so I need to make sure it doesn't erase those, just the choice made from the list or the mark in the box.
inputting a formula that will look at the dates in row 2 on the tab marked “Cap Plan” on the sample sheet and then go to tab “Monthly Mode” and match the date and then take the percentages for each work type on that tab and put them in the percentage columns in the tab “Cap Plan” for the correct date. This document will be a rolling 52 week one so a simple = formula will not work.
i'm having a bit of a issue with a do while loop. It might just be my complete lack of understanding, but i'll briefly explain what I am doing before I show you the code. I am marking cells with what I consider an invalid type for that cell red. Well unfortunatley in some sheets the number of invalid types is so high the macro crashes. So my bright idea was to inclose the check statment into a do while loop, that will only check until so many cells have been marked red. So I created a public variable, assigned it a value of 1. I then assigned the macro that marks the cell red to also take y and add 1. So in theory (mind you what I take for theroy might be in my head) it should only run until the paramaters of the do while are met which in this case are do while y < 20.
y = 1 Do While y < 20 Set MyRange = Intersect(Columns(7), ActiveSheet.UsedRange) For Each r In MyRange CheckDate Next r Loop
That is the snippet from the program calling the function, and here is the function
Public Function CheckDate() If IsDate(r.Cells) = False And IsEmpty(r.Cells) = False Then r.Select MarkDate y = y + 1 End If If r.Cells < 1 / 1 / 1910 And IsEmpty(r.Cells) = False Then r.Select MarkDate y = y + 1 End If End Function
what i'm doing wrong here? Oh and y is assinged as a public varaible, integer data type.
I have this excel workbook that when i tick the first sheet ("251" in temp), it copys the row onto the second sheet ("order" in temp). This all work wonderful, but now if i would like to add additional pages to this excel workbook and have it do the same thing (by same thing i mean adding additional sheets but keep only one "order" worksheet and have all the information go onto the order worksheet.
So for example:
I would add an additional page name 252 into the workbook, it would look and function just like the 251. So after all the ticking on 251, all the information would go onto the "order", i can then move onto 252 and do the same type of ticking of information and those information would also continue onto "order". And i can keep adding multiple worksheet onto the workbook and do the same exact thing.
