Count How Many Of Each Entry Exists In Column?

I have a list in a column and just want to count how many of each entry exists and place that number in another list:

Column A Column B Column C

abogado 4 abogado
abogado 7 mammamia
abogado 8 trifecta[code].....

I want to create a table that lists the number of entries for each cell in column a and then lists the entry next to it. Can I use a pivot table or something?

I have a huge database consisting of zipped file names which i created by importing the directory listing into excel. The zipped files contain two files each an mp3 and a correspondent cdg file (karaoke files).

I continue to add new disks (as I acquire them) to my collection. the trouble is that new disks have some songs already in my collection and I do not want to waste space in hard drive with duplicates. The existing data is arranged in a worksheet by columns as follows:

Discnumber | track number| artist | song name | path | complete file name

what I would like to do is to check the ** listing after import it to excel in the same format (i can do this part ) and then check it against the 10,000 plus entries that i have if the artist-song name combination already exists in the data. If so return the row in a separate worksheet or pivot table so that i can check it. this way I would only save the songs I do not have in my hard drive thus avoiding duplicates and saving precious space.

Count Cell Characters & If It Exists Already

I have a worksheet (SHEET1) where users would enter their ID Number and then they would hit a Submit button. The submit button would then add that ID Number into another worksheet (SHEET2) in a running list of ID Numbers. But before it is submitted, I would like to check for two things:

1. ID Number must be 9 characters long (numbers and/or letters)
2. ID Number must not already exist in SHEET2

If condition 1 is not met, then just have a message box asking user to check their entry and try again.

If condition 2 is not met, then just have a message box saying "thanks" but no addition will be made to SHEET2

I am trying to write a formula where the column header of the row in which a value other than 0 exists, will display for each instance (row) where a value exists in an array spanning 3 columns. So the result cell could be any of the three column headers, or a combination thereof.

I started the formula in P2 of the GL Detail-2012 tab. File attached.

Here is what I started: =INDEX($M$1:$O$1,SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF($M$2:$O$67756,))). Not working.

I would like to display the column header of the row in which a value other than 0 exists in a cell for each instance that value exists in an array spanning 3 columns. So the result cell could be any of the three column headers.

I started the formula in P2 of the GL Detail-2012 tab. (FILE TOO BIG)

Excerpt:

If there is any value other than 0 in Resin, Sand or Eliminated columns, return that column's header under Segment.

Cell Entry Count

Is it possible to count the entries into a cell?
Example
cell A1 (=5+5+5)
this would total 15
but could it count that there were 3 entries?
Is it possible to do it both postive and negative.
Cell A1 (5+5-1)
this would total 9
but it would count 2 if you want negative entries subtracted.
or it could count 3 if you wanted all entries.
I think this would be two different formulas.

I'm trying to create a questionnaire and in each question you got to rank the answers 1, 2, 3 and 4 according to your preferences.

So I'm trying to use data validation to allow ranges between 1 and 4 and at the same time I'm trying to use =countif($A$1:$A$20,A1)=1 to prevent repeating selections but my problem is that with the data validation tool I can only select one of those options either allowing whole numbers between 1 - 4 or allowing custom and using =countif($A$1:$A$20,A1)=1.

Is there a way to do both?

I have serial numbers say 1 to 100 in column A. In column B i have values which are text and numbers combined. In column C I have similar values as in B.

Now, if any value in Column B appears in Column C, then in Column D It should tell me Yes or No or 0 or 1.

I basically want to know whether any value from Column B exists or not in column C. I tried Countif and Vlookup but didn't work.

Delimiting When Empty Column Exists?

I have a cell with data separated by hashtags and the letter 'x'

For example #1001x1 refers to a product code and x1 being the quantity.

#1002x2#1003x1# would become:

CODE
QTY

1

I'm currently using the code:

Sometimes there will be files when there will be lots of codes to delimit, but sometimes there will be no codes to delmit.

So when there reference will only be #1001x1# the above code will try and delimite the next column along (column G) but there is nothing there to delimit and the error code "No data was selected to parse" pops up.

What I'm trying to ask is, is there a way to make a macro that only delimit columns with data.

i'm trying to get a column to count all blanks but only if there's and entry in the cell to the left. for example i have a list of names which is picked up from my main database in column a, then in column b there's dates, non applicables and blanks. however the columns are longer than the list of names to allow for growth, so there's a lot of blanks at the bottom which i don't want to count. so is there a way to count only the blanks in column b if there's a name in column a alongside it

I have a range of data going accross columns, the entries include, U, T, and F1 to F11. I have a requirement to count how many of a particular type of entry there are, this needs to be done in groups, e.g, counting attendance bonuses which are included in entries, F5,F6, F8 and F11, (i.e. in one cell i need to total how many F5's,6's,8's & 11's are in that row?!). i just cant quite seem to get the formula right to count them.

If I minus H is less that 90 count as 1. But if I minus H is greater than 90 count as one but highlight the row on the speadsheet in yellow.

What I am doing is I have a list of about 3000 entrys and I need to determine if (I minus H is greater or less than 90). I then need to count how many times out of the 3000 entrys each entry is greater or less than 90 and highlight the entrys in yellow that are greater than 90.

It would be ideal to determine the difference between I minus H and then categorize the findings of the 3000 entrys to see how many were say 59 and how many were 47 and how many were 92 etc.
I have never seen a forumla highlight a entry based on count if. I am currently rapidly searching the forums here but to no avail.

VBA To Copy Entire Row If Date Exists In Column F

I have a spreadsheet that contains data that needs to be copied over to a new worksheet if it contains a Date. For instance, if a Date exists in column F on worksheet1, I want to copy the entire row's contents from worksheet1 to the next empty row on worksheet2.

As it stands now, the data ends on row 67 in worksheet1 and ends on row 221 in worksheet2. So, if there is a date in F30, I would like to copy all of row 30 and past it into row 222 on worksheet2.

I've tried coping to the list sheet and use "Remove Duplicates", but it rids me of the data that has been processed and has fills applied.

I'm looking for a macor that can do this work for me without losing data on list sheet.

This data reaches into the thousands and I'm looking to run this off the CASE column.

Im trying to write a formula that will check if a name that I have in column A also appears in column B and if it does I want it to return a value for example TRUE in column C.

I'm currently doing a survey and I have all employees in column A (600persons) and then column B I enter thos that have taken the survey. So If an employees name exist in column B he/she has done the survey and then they I get the value "TRUE" or "1" or something else. So in this way I can easily see who has and who hasn't done the survey. I've been trying with VLOOK and so on but I can not get it right? Maybe I need VBA?

I require a row of details to be copied to another worksheet by typing in a unique ID using a macro so Sheet 1 is a data base of items (every item have a unique code like 1001, 1002 etc) and sheet 2 has a table, and next to the table is a cell, which i need to work like a search engine.

i need to be able to type the unique id in a cell, in sheet 2, then click an Add command Button. This button then finds the unique id in sheet 1, and copies all the items details in the same row, into sheet 2 in the table, then i require the search engine to be cleared for the next item to be added. I have an excel worksheet that creates the total arival/departure time for workers. In the "ore lucrate" column i need a formula that checks wheater or not in column b exists text, if it does then check if cell r12 is bigger than one hour and the substract exactly one hour from it, i.e. 03:45 needs to be 02:45. However if it's not bigger than an hour then put the result as it it (r12). And finally if the adiacent cell in "ore lucrate" doesnt contain text then it should be left as the folowing 00:00.

Identify Part Of String In One Column And Return Entry In Neighboring Column?

I have a spreadsheet of several thousand named items (in column B) with values associated with them in column A). The "name" field is a string of several alternative names for the item.

I have a list of ~50 items that I am trying to find the values for. Each uses one of the alternate names.

What I want is a function that will return the associated value in column A when one of my shortlist names is found.

For example, my big spreadsheet looks like:

AB
1dallas, DFW. 12345
2Atlanta, ATL, 23456
3Boston, BOS, 34567
4Chicago, CHI, 45678
5Los Angles, LA, LAX, 56789

And my list looks like

Atlanta
CHI

I want the output to look something like:

Atlanta2

Is the feasible? IT seems like there should be a way to do it....
