How do you use COUNTIF to check certain cells in a row that have a value of

Basically, I have data that have the titles:
Year Max allowed A B C D E F
1999 55 45 23 60 53 53 57
2000 59 45 23 60 53 53 57
2001 51 45 23 60 53 53 57
And data for several years. Each year has a particular maximum allowed exceptions per process (A, B, C etc)
I basically would like =countif(columns that contain A through F, for values greater than Max allowed for that specific yeat)
Is there a way that I can get the countif to recognize the value under max allowed as the "tripping" value for the row A through F?
So I would get a value of 2 for row 1999, 1 for 2000 and 4 for 2001
I am trying to calculate the number of times I have values in a column that fall between 00:10 and 00:14 (10 and 14 minutes). Every formula I have tried either gives me 0 value or ######. Range is e3:e102 and times are being calculated by subtracting 2 adjacent cells with actual times in them.

Column B is EmployeeName
Column C is Hours Worked
Column D is WorkWeek
All columns will contain duplicates, though no particurlar row combination would be a duplicate. How can I count the number of unique values in Column B when the value in Column A = "MyDepartment"?
I have a list of 100 values in Column A of the attached spreadsheet Sample.xls. I need to count the number of values between a certain percentage including both positive and negative values. Example: I need to count all values that are between 0 and +5% and 0 to -5%.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed that when I use countif to count cells with certain text value it works but up to some point when it returns way too much then (when there are generally more values matching I think). I don't know what is the cause ..formatting? some function limit ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have names in A1, A2, A3 and A4 and in cells B1:C4 I have atendance for am and pm.What I need is it to count if someone was in on a day. So if B1 or C1 or both contains "in" then the subtotal will be 1 and added for each row, so it shows how many are in whether it be for 1/2 or a full day
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if it's possible to use a countif so that the condition can be a range of values also? For example, A1 = 14.12.08, A2 = 15.12.08 and A3 = 16.12.08
So I can have a countif that looks like: Countif(B1:B300, A1:A3). It doesn't work when I try it, but was wondering if there's a way to achieve the same result? So if B1:B300 contained any of the values in A1:A3 it would count the amount of times they appear in the B range.
How can I use COUNTIF to count the values in a range which are greater than 0?
I put =COUNTIF(B2:B100000)>0 but that didn't work?
(I'm using XL 2007 hence the range greater than 65000 rows. But I don't
think COUNTIFs syntax has been changed in 2007 so I assume I'm having a brain
fart.)
I have a data set of students results and I have been using countif to pickup similar grades eg, C1, C2 and C3 all as C. However I need to subtotal filter against teachers and the sumproduct won't let me use C* as a wildcard to pick up the three types of C. How I can subtoal countif multiple criteria.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working with an Excel 2010 workbook that has two worksheets in it. What I am trying to accomplish is I want the second worksheet to scan the first worksheet for a student's name, and count all of the instances that the student has a score less than a certain threshold (we'll say "5" for this example). I have tried using various combinations of vlookup and countif functions, but have not had much success. I did get it to a point where it worked, but only for the first instance of that student's name; it wouldn't continue searching the first worksheet for any other instances.
I have attached a sample workbook as a reference : Sheet1.xlsx
I know would like to return column C in the INDI LEG VALUES table if the following occurs

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a difficult time returning COUNTIF values for a positive match between 2 columns THAT meet a certain condition. Basically I want to iterate through column A sheet 1 (ONLY for values where column B is paid) and return a count for every instance there is a match of value A sheet 1 in column A sheet 2. In other words, I'm looking to find the number of ids marked as paid from Column A sheet 1 that exist in Column A sheet 2. I don't wish to return the actual ids, just the total count.
I've tried the following but I know there's an error in iterating through Column A the way I have it:
=COUNTIFS(Sheet1!$ColA:$ColA,Sheet2!$ColA:$ColA,Sheet1!$ColB:$ColB,"paid")
Sheet1:

I'm trying to make a spreadsheet that will count the number of times a certain incident occurs, for a particular person, for a particular month. The attached spreadsheet is an example of what I need done.
For the attached spreadsheet, I need to find out how many times x employee has been late for x month, and how many times they've been late overall.
You can see one of the many tries I've attempted in the second sheet, but it doesn't seem to want to work. I have to be able to do this without VBA, because of signature issues.
I'm stuck on the final piece of my macro project. I've attached a workbook with two sheets: sheet 1 is what I currently have, and sheet 2 is what I'd like my report to look like when complete.
On Sheet 1:
- column B is called Supervisor Name
- Columns D-O are months of the year, with either a Yes or No in each cell.
I'd like to write a macro that will:
- Take all unique values in Supervisor Name column, and paste these Above the current table.
- For each Supervisor, and each month, I'd like it to calculate, as a %, the number of Yes mentions in each month divided by the total cells (Yes/(Yes+No)).
Sheet 2 contains the output, in the format I'd like to see it.
Sheet 2:
Supervisor Name
October
November
December
Supervisor 1
8.3%

I have a spreadsheet with details of letters that should be responded to within 20 days, and i want to have a cell showing the amount that that need a response within 10 - 5 days. Basically I want to have a value of one returned to a cell in a row if one cell in that row contains a value between 10 and 5 (less than 11, more than 4) and another cell is blank. For example, AD27 contains 6, k27 is blank. I want AE27 to show 1. I also need the same if the value is less than 5, but i'm sure i could figure out how to alter it.

I'm trying to create some charts in the following Google Sheet. If you look at the DataAnalyze sheet you'll see I created a helper column that lists whether an item is within the last 30 days, 30-90 days or over 90 days. The data looks like

One the chart sheet I use simple COUNTIF formula but I want to filter based on dates so the charts show data specific to those date ranges. Is this possible within Google Sheets?
I am trying to do a COUNTIF the cell is not empty. Sometimes the value starts with a number but sometimes the value is a letter.
I figured out how do one or the other but not both.
=COUNTIF(E2:E65536,">""")
=COUNTIF(E2:E65536,">0")
Is is some how possible to combine them together.
I have an Excel file with 42000 records that are identified by a Reference in Column E. There should be two records per reference in the file. I need to identify all records that only appear once, as well as all records that have more than 2 entries.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a column full of data like the below with relevant data on the same row.
I wish to locate the cells which have a specific section most importantly without the "cartridge only" so for example with the below
Word Academy (Nintendo DS)
Word Academy (Nintendo DS) (Cartridge Only)
This would show 2 given there are two with the specific text "Word Academy (Nintendo DS)" there will always be a cell without the (Cartridge Only) part so for this the formula =COUNTIF(D:D,"*" & D1 & "*") seems to do the job to simply count the cells with that in however I do not wish to do this.
What I need to do is locate the cells that have this in but match them together in a large sheet so basically I somehow need to be able to locate the two corresponding cells which both have one of the cells values of "Word Academy (Nintendo DS)"
The cells have data in the row which I need to tie together to create a total value.
For example
Title Qty
Word Academy (Nintendo DS) 5
Word Academy (Nintendo DS) (Cartridge Only)6
I need to locate the all the cells with "Word Academy (Nintendo DS)" in which would mean just the two cells "Word Academy (Nintendo DS)" + "Word Academy (Nintendo DS) (Cartridge Only)" in the above instance but I need it to then see the cell which has that in its title and add the quantity of the two together leaving me with the below
Title Qty Actual Qty
Word Academy (Nintendo DS) 5 11
Word Academy (Nintendo DS) (Cartridge Only)6 11
Which is basically just adding together the quantity shown on the spreadsheet in the rows with the containing text "Word Academy (Nintendo DS)" and as "Word Academy (Nintendo DS) (Cartridge Only)"
On the attached spreadsheet Column L is an example of the result I would be desire, I have put a basic =sum formula in to just represent the value it should be showing.
I have a sheet that calculates what items are on any given transaction - this works well. I now want another table that counts how many times a certain brand comes up.
For example one item on a transaction might be "TENSOR REG TRUCK BLK 5.0 x2"
I need the table to look at this and count if tensor is in it (sheet name: 'Sheet 1') but I want it to look at the list of brands and and reference that brand rather than type it out individually.
dont know if this can be done using a formula rather than VBA...but is there a formula that would change the countif range based on another cell entry. so the formula below has a column range of 2...so the other cell entry would be '2'.
=COUNTIF(B1:C1,"=Y"). If i then changed the cell entry to '4' the formula would change to. =COUNTIF(B1:E1,"=Y")
Can you set up countif to work to refer to a certain cell instead of a specif name or text.. for instance
HTML Code:
countif(a36:b36, "c1"
I have this forumula in a cell:
=SUM((COUNTIF(F7:F69,"<=" & TODAY())),(COUNTIF(B7:B69,">=" & D7)))
and the trouble I am having is that in the second Countif, I need it to check the cell in the "D" column relative to what cell is being checked in the "B" column. Right now it is checking every cell in "B" against "D7" instead of "D8, D9, D10", according to what cell in "B" is selected.
I am creating a holiday chart for absence, I have put the following formula in one cell
=COUNTIF(F4:NF4,"H")+COUNTIF(F4:AJ4,"HD")
Now when these letters are typed in to the range they calculate "H" and "HD" to be 1 - is it possible to have "H"=1 and "HD"=0.5 to then give a total in the desired cell?
Basically "H" is 1 day holiday and "HD" is (0.5) half day holiday, I would like the total from a range to appear in one cell
I've got a head-scratcher here that no one in the office can figure out (at my level anyway). I'm trying to count multiples of the same value within the same cell. For instance, if one cell's value is:
2, 2, 4, 5
I need my '2' count column to return two '2's. I'm using a wildcard because the cells will contain the numbers 1-7, some multiple times, and usually in different orders. The wildcard formula I'm using only picks up one if multiples of the same value are entered in one cell. Here's the formula:
=COUNTIF($C$4:$AG$60, "*"&"2"&"*")+COUNTIF($C$4:$AG$60, "2")
This formula only returns a value of one in the '2' count column. It can't find the second '2' for some reason. I haven't been able to make COUNTA work either.
