Dividing Number Of Steps In One Cell Into Multiple Cells?

Aug 15, 2014

I have the onerous task of dividing up a series of steps in one cell into multiple cells. I tried the text to columns utility, but it only delimits once, not multiple times. Below is a data example:

"1) Load App
2) Login using Administrator Access details .
3) Click on icon 'Admin' on the right hand side of page.
4) click on subcategory 'Administration'"

Or click on 'Add Organization' icon in section 'Organization' .
6) Validate field 'Parent Organization' in 'New Organization' or 'Edit Organization' form"
"1) Load Documoto.
2) Login using Administrator Access details .
3) Click on icon 'Admin' on the right hand side of page.
4) Click on subcategory 'Administration' .
5) Click on any Organization name from 'Organization' section in the list.
Or click on 'Add Organization' icon in section 'Organization' .
6) Validate field 'Tenant ERP Accessible' in 'New Organization' or 'Edit Organization' form"

6) Validate field 'DMZ license key expiration period ' by click on checkbox or by 'Uncheck' checkbox"

I need to put each step into it's own cell.

Dividing Number And Setting Maximum In Cells

Nov 2, 2013

I am dividing the number. I have for example 20 hours(A1) which have to be divided into 8h + the rest.

So, 8(B2)+8(B3)+4(B4) hours. I have tried few things, but I can only divide it by 8 and it doesn't go anywhere from that.

Dividing Multiple Arguments In Same Cell

Jul 26, 2014

V = 100 x [E /(IY + YP)] x Sqr. [((R + G)/2 / (IY + YP + F)]
V = 100 x [6.10 /(5.60)] x Sqr. [((10.2+2)/2 / (5.60 + 2.1]
V = 108.93 x Sqr (.79)
V = $96.89 / share as of 7/18/2014

E = Earnings in $ / share 6.1 (b9)
IY = Interest rate in % 5.6 (b10)
R = Profitability Factor in % (internal growth rate)10.2 (b11)
G = Earnings Growth in % / yr. 2 (b12)
F = Inflation Rate in % / yr. 2.1 (b13)

Here's what I have, result should be $96.89, I need to tell excel to take square root of everything to the right not just (B11+ B12)

=100*(+B9/B10)*SQRT(B11+B12)/2/(B10+B13)

Dividing Range Of Cells With Given Cell Having Formula?

Sep 3, 2012

I am working an Excell sheet. It have many cells with formula like sum of a range of cells etc.

I wanted to divide a range of cells with the given cell (which is inturn having a formula for sum of a range of cells.) want i wanted is to divide a range of cell values with a given cell whose value (number) is obtained through a formula.

when i do

=100*(v65)/v20 for T65 cell and copy the formula for T66-T106 cell range

it is calculating for T66=100*(v66)/v21 and T67=100*(v67)/v22 ........T106=100*(v106)/v61

what I want is all the cells T66=100*(v66)/v20 ... T106=100*(v106)/v20.

Dividing A Number By 12 With Respect To Rounding

May 23, 2007

Suppose I have the following plan number (24) and I wan't to spread it across 12 columns, as evenly as possible but with respect to rounding.
Easy enough.. Each column receives 2...

Or say the figure was 24.6 and i wanted to round to 2 places...
Easy enough... Each column receives 2.05...

Or say the figure was 24.7 and i wanted to round to 2 places...
Easy enough... Each column receives 2.05... But one would be 2.06!

How about the number is 1 and say, the rounding is 0.1?
Ten of the columns would be .1 while two others (arbitrarily) would be 0.

#DIV/0! Dividing Multiple Countif Functions Into Value

Jul 19, 2007

I have this formula

= COUNTIF(AT6:AY6,"F")+COUNTIF(AT6:AY6,"P")+COUNTIF(AT6:AY6,"M")+COUNTIF(AT6:AY6,"D")

that returns the number 2 (which is correct). However, if I precede it with

AZ6/COUNTIF(AT6:AY6,"F")+COUNTIF(AT6:AY6,"P")+COUNTIF(AT6:AY6,"M")+COUNTIF(AT6:AY6,"D")

it returns a DIV/0 error, even though AZ6 has a value of 24.

Surely 24/2 would return a value of 12? NB AZ6 cell value is derived from the result of a formula.

Dividing Dollar Amounts Unevenly Into Varying Numbers Of Cells/columns

Dec 10, 2009

I have dollar amounts that I need to distribute amongst varying numbers of columns and not have have the total distributed be over or under the original amount by any number of cents. When I simply divide the dollar amount by the number of columns, the total of those columns can sometimes be more or less than the original dollar amount by a few cents.

e.g.
Dollar # of A B C All Columns
Amount Columns Total
--------------------------------------------------------------------
$25.05 2 $12.53 $12.53 $25.06
$11.47 3 $ 3.82 $ 3.82 $ 3.82 $11.46
$25.05 divided into 2 columns gives $12.53 in Column A and $12.53 in Column B. Total of Columns A and B is $25.06. Over by a penny.

$11.47 divided into 3 columns gives $3.82 in Columns A through C. Total of Columns A through C is $41.46. Under by a penny.

I know I could simply always add or take away the pennies from one column, but I would prefer the process to be random or formulated in such a way that the Column to which the extra pennies are added to or taken away from differs in order to be "fair to each column".

Simple Macro For Dividing Cell Content By 100 Needed

Dec 14, 2006

I'm only starting to get into the Macro side of excel, and I've created a couple of macros to automatically format cell contents and the like.
However I'm having trouble trying to divide some cell contents by 100.

I have 2 files I'm working with, one contains information regarding cd's and percentages, however the percentages in this file cannot be formatted to percentages (so the powers that be say) for whatever reason.
I copy all this information into another file which does have the percentages formatted as percentages, the result is that the values get multiplied by 100.

So values that read:
100
50
50.25

for example, appear on the new sheet as:
10000%
50000%
5025%

Is it possible to write a macro that will divide these percentages by 100 so the read correctly as:
100%
50%
50.25%

the macro will have to work on selected ranges.

Dividing Data In A Cell If Conditions Met In Another Cell

I'm a Graphic Designer and am just starting to learn how much fun Excel can be. I'm still learning things though and this is an easy one I think, but I can not figure it out.

All I want to do is the following...

If there is any data present at all in column B on a particular row, then I want the number on the same row in Column D to be divided by 2.

In the example below... TB_5129-001 is present in B8. So I would want $45.00 (D8) to be divided by two automatically. Also, if B8 were to be blank i would want D8 to be left alone.

Once I have done this I would like to Copy my _000s toggle and divide the hard coded values by this cell. I am using copy and then paste special divide by but I am having no luck with this tactic.

faster more efficient way to go about this rather than individually changing each hard coded item?

Group Numbering In Steps

Sep 17, 2007

I am trying to produce a list of numbers (preferred Sheets Function and not VBA).

Every group should be of 5 Identical Numbers - starting with 2 and step of 2.
(An Example is shown in the attached picture).

I would like to produce that list with the help of ROW() and all available build-in Functions.

If possible, I will appreciate very much some explanation as for the principal of producing such a list when, for inatance, the step is 3 , starting from 3, while every group includes only 4 identical numbers and the first cell, to present the first value, is A11 and down to A26 - presented here in Horizontal layout:
(3,3,3,3,6,6,6,6,9,9,9,9,12,12,12,12)

Enter Number Into Cell Based On Multiple Of Number In Another Cell

3000
45000

I have numbers in cells d1 to kq1 (1 to 300) d1=1, e1=2, f1=3 and so on

What I want to do is:

In D2 through to kq2 it puts the number in to the cell that correspnds to a multiple of the number in b2.
That would put 1000 in cells m2,w2,ag2,aq2, ba2 and so on
In D3 through to kg3 it it puts the number in to the cell that corresponds to a multiple of the number in b3
that would put 1580 in cells y3,au3,bq3,cm3,di3 and so on

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "3.3"

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "3.5"
Range("A1").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "3.6"

Basically, I just recorded a macro to change the cell value. This code continues to 4.8 . . .Is there a more efficient way to code this??
Also, I'd like to add a time delay (say +-5seconds) between each step. So basically it would say:

Range("A1").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "3.1"
[CODE THAT DELAYS FOR A TIME, THEN GOES TO THE STEP BELOW]
Range("A1").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "3.2"

Concatenate Duplicates + Delete + More Steps

Ford | Taurus
Chevrolet | Avalanche
Saturn | Sky
Ford | Explorer
Honda | Accord
Ford | Taurus

What I want is a list of 2 columns with UNIQUE car manufacturers in first column with a list of UNIQUE car models (comma delimited) in second column. So for this example, the first row could read " Ford | Taurus,Explorer". I don't want Taurus to appear twice. I got a lot of help from JBeaucaire from this post. Macro To Transpose Data From One Column To Several Columns In Steps?

Jan 25, 2013

I am looking for a macro that works like the ASAP Utility (Transpose data from one column to several columns in steps). To elaborate the work done by the macro it should transpose the values in a column to the number of steps that is user defined (Using InputBox) that is if there are 103 values in the column and the user enters the number of steps as 24 then the macro should transpose the data up to 24 columns and the rest in the next row up to 24 columns and so on unless the complete data is transposed.

For more clarity refer the attached excel sheet or the "Transpose data from one column to several columns in steps" utility of ASAP Utility.

Tracking Date Of Last Phase Change In Project Steps

May 19, 2014

I have a project with over 600 steps which we are trying to track when each part progresses by having 52 weekly columns. Their are 8 users which we have allocated a colour so when they complete one of the steps they select which step they have completed and which colour they are. This works well but I would like to put the date that the change was made in a separate cell in that row.

My question is can this be done with a formula as I am in favour of doing this as soon as someone changes a cell in the week range. If not I will need to nut through a VBA sub routine.

I know that this formaul does not work but it is along the lines of what I am testing for: =if(sum(T55:BM55)>" ",Date(),0) where if any of the cells in the range T55 to BM55 have any value or letter in them then put todays date in cell L55 else do nothing.

Finding A Number In Multiple Cells With Each Of Its Own Range

Nov 3, 2009

So this is something that I'm not sure is possible in Excel. I would like to use an "if,then" statement to see if a number is in multiple cells. I know this is usually very simple except there's a catch here. In each cell there's a number range using a "-". So in a single cell a range would be 301-305. I am open to having the range done a different way like 301,302...etc. I just decided this would be an easy way to look at it and was hoping to find a way to solve this problem with leaving in the dash. Whatever is practical is fine with me.

Using Example A in the attached file I want to use this statement, =IF(308 is in any of the ranges in A3:A6, TRUE, FALSE).

So, for me, the alternative I want to avoid is Example B where I would have to list every single number and then check the whole range. I would like to avoid this because these examples, as you can imagine, are on a much smaller scale then what I will actually be dealing with.
