Dynamic Ranges For Error Bars In Charts

Jul 5, 2006

I am using defined names to build a chart. This is working fine, but I also would like to use a defined name to control the +/- fields for the error bars. The defined names I have set up are correct, and I am able to enter them into the sorce data form but Excel does not display them.

Custom Error Bars On Bar Charts

Apr 24, 2009

I created a bar chart with horizontal (category) labels: winter, spring, summer, fall. Y-axis label is percent. For each category there is data for blk rats, Norway rats, Mice. For each species and category the standard error is different because it is based on several years of data for a given season.

When I try to display the std. error (using custom, fixed value) it treats each species as a series and only lets me choose one value. in other words the std. error would be the same for blk rats in winter, spring, etc. How can I use the individual values?

Excel 2010 :: Populate Ranges To Facilitate Dynamic Charts Being Generated

Nov 2, 2013

I'm trying to dynamically populate ranges to facilitate dynamic charts being generated.

I use excel 2010 at work, and 2011 for mac at home.

Dynamic chart ranges populated from named ranges as selected in nested indirectly sourced validation lists

I want any selection made in a dependent validation list which contains a list of named ranges to trigger a worksheet_change event which copies the range the selection points to and pastes it into a dynamic range in another column, beginning as a specified cell.I've tried using this, put together from some code examples from similar, but different issues.

Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Not Intersect(Target, Me.Range("B2")) Is Nothing Then
Range(Range("B2").Value).Copy
Range("P2").Paste
End If
End Sub

Trouble is, I don't really understand this code. It doesn't appear to do anything when I make a worksheet change in "B2", but I don't know exactly what it is. I suspect that perhaps the fact that "B2" is validated from an indirect source might be difficult?

Dynamic Charts & Error Message

Sep 14, 2006

I have created a dynamic chart, courtesy of the Jon Peltier website. I have 2 problems. No problem with getting the chart to work, the problem comes when I delete the data. I get an error message telling me that 'A formula in the worksheet contains one or more invalid references.' The other problem is that I cannot copy the worksheet to another worksheet in the same workbook. Well that is not strictly true, I can copy it but it wont updat. Any ideas as to how I can overcome this? Any suggestions welcome, apart from 'Don't delete the data then'

Vlookup And Dynamic Named Ranges = #ref Error

Apr 3, 2008

I am trying to merge data from two worksheets onto a 3rd for a mail merge. The COLLECTIONS sheet contains the acct #, name and amount owed. The ADDRESSES sheet contains the acct #, name and all of the address information. The 3rd sheet is the MERGE sheet that I'm using as the reference point for my word document and the mail merge. Upon reflection the MERGE sheet is probably not necessary, but made sense to have it when I started out.

Never the less...
On the ADDRESSES sheet I am trying to name a dynamic range "AddressList" (I'm trying to go dynamic because the list of addresses will change from month to month). I am using the following formula in the refers to field when I name the range:

=Offset(Addresses!$A$5,0,0,CountA(Addresses!$A:$A),CountA(Addresses!$1:$1))

I think this is what is giving me my problem, because the named range does not show up in the list when I try to go to the named range.

Just in case that is not the problem, the #Ref is showing up when on the MERGE sheet I type a vlookup formula referencing the acct # on the ADDRESSES sheet. That formula looks like this:

=VLOOKUP(A4,AddressList,3,0)

which seems simple enough. Before trying to make the named range dynamic the formula worked fine, which is why I'm thinking the named range is what's giving me the problems.

Apply Conditional Formatting To Bars In Bar Charts

Aug 29, 2006

I have created an excel file that contains a lot of worksheets which contain a lot of raw data and charts. There are 5 different tabs for 5 different companies. Each tab currently contains only 1 year of raw data for that company. Then I have another excel worksheet that has nothing but charts on it. Each chart is a bar chart that shows each of the 5 companies. It also shows the current rate for the month for each company and the 12 month average for each company. On the chart there are also 3 lines. There is a standard line that we try to meet each month. There is also a line for the upper control limit and a line for the lower control limit. Here is my problem:

The 2 bar charts (current rate for the month & the 12 month average) are created and updated by the raw data in each of the 5 data sheets.

Based upon the values in each of the cells that create and update the bars on the charts themselves:
I want the bars to be RED if the values are below the lower control limit.

And I want the bars to be GOLD if the values are above the upper control limit.

And I want the bars to be green if the values are in between the upper and lower control limits.

Get Position Of Certain Points In Bar Charts (corners Inside Bars)

I've just started with VBA coding and I'm absolutely stuck with one problem I have had for weeks!

I litterally spent days looking for an answer on google, unsuccessfully of course. So here I am

Right, so the problem is the following:

I have series of bar charts (up to 10) with some relationships between them, and I want to highlight those.

Here is a screenshot:

or here: View image: Untitled

I know how to move the shapes automatically, etc. Yet, the big issue I'm encountering is that I can't find a way to get the position of the circled points!

I tried every possible way with GET.CHART.ITEM but the best I get is the top of the bar and not the points inside of it...

Macro To Edit Error Bars?

how to control either the X or Y axis error bars for a scatter chart.

I'm building something like a gantt chart and I only want to use the X axis error bars and delete the Y axis bars. I've been able to add error bars by using "ActiveChart.SeriesCollection(1).HasErrorBars = True" but when i select the error bars using "ActiveChart.SeriesCollection(1).ErrorBars.Select" the Y axis (Vertical Error Bars) are automatically selected and any formatting I apply is added to the Y axis and left off of the X axis.

Does anyone know how to delete the Y axis error bars and/or choose only the X axis error bars?

Dynamic Starting Point For Dynamic Named Ranges

Jun 21, 2009

I would like to replace the blue bit of this Dynamic Named Range (DNR) with an INDIRECT formula in order to modify the starting point for the DNR: =OFFSET(DATA!$C$60,0,0,20,1). Unfortunately, I can’t seem to get my INDIRECT formula to work in order to use it to replace the blue bit above: INDIRECT("'"DATA"'!&ADDRESS(MATCH('SHEET1'!AC8,DATA_Date,0)+22,3)"). The orange bit of the formula above returns a value of 60, therefore the ADDRESS formula should return $C$60, that can then feed into the INDIRECT and act as the equivalent of DATA!$C$60. But it doesn’t.

Dynamic Charts ..

Feb 24, 2007

I have a spreadsheet that calculates a value for each age up to 65 on a separate row. I have parameterized the spreadsheet so that depending on the age entered by the user, any row below the age 65 calculation row is blanked out (set to "") with an if statement.

After a new age is entered I would like a line graph to compare the values. My problem is that if I select all of the possible data values (I assume none are less than 20, therefore there are 45 rows of formulas) any rows that have blank values show up in the chart. My data starts in cell A1.

I would like to come up with a macro that accomplishes the following . . .

- determines the number of the lowest row that has a number value in it (since there are formulas below this, Ctrl down does not do this correctly)

- set a named range starting from cell A1 based on x rows (calculated in the prior step) and y rows (constant)

Dynamic + Interactive Charts

Jul 28, 2008

I've just read up on interactive charts and have got that sorted for my worksheet. But I have a slightly more complicated issue now...

The worksheet Logistics has results for 76 different tests and these tests have been taken multiple times. Hence, I can logically have a trendline of results for every test i.e. Test 1: 1/1, 2/2,3/3 etc...

I'll go nuts creating 76 charts...and it's a terrible messy way of getting the user to see how he's fared over the number of times he's taken a particular test.

What I'm looking for is a way for the user so indicate which test he wants to see the results for and the relevant results to come up. In other words, on choosing the trendline of results for a particular test. Possible?I saw something similar on a website but am not sure if it was relevant...

I want to update a number of charts using data that covers a rolling 12 months - this will be amended each month by addition of new data but I will be retaining the full history. However, when I use the named range in the chart wizard it is replaced by direct cell references. Can anyone suggest how I can retain the name in the chart or suggest an easy alternative method?
