Excel 2003 :: Average Readings Between Two Times?
Jan 5, 2012
I have a sheet set up with date in Column A, time in column C and numbers in column D, starting in row 2 down. I made a pivot table with the dates grouped by day, 7, to show a week and I can group the time by hours, 6am, 7am, 8am. but what I want to do is group the time for times between 2 times, like from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 10:01 AM to 2:00 PM and 2:01 PM to 8:00 PM, what I am wanting to do is group by week, group by the times above and average the numbers for that time. Is there anyway to do this in a pivot table? Or some other way? this is for use in Excel 2003

1. I have a very long list of values which exceed 1000 readings. I would like to calculate the averages in blocks of 10.
2. The following is a very challenging query:
I have the following readings
From To Value
0 4 55
4 12 64
12 21 53
21 31 34
etc..
I would like to get the following outputs
From to Weighted Value
0 10 ((4x55)+(6x64))/10
10 20 ((2x64)+(8x53))/10
etc

Looking for a formula to average rows of blood pressure readings. Column H contains readings as general format, e.g. 120/80 Have tried numerous formulas using LEFT and RIGHT to isolate #'s to sum/average with no luck at all. Compounding factor is that both #'s can be either 2 or 3 digits.

I am using excel 2003. My sheet contains Times in column A and numbers in column B. I want to be able to count how many of those rows fall into time periods. Such as how many are from 8:00-9:00 AM. I do have the time column formatted as Time.
Ex:
A1: 3:40 PM
A2: 8:20 AM
A3: 8:55 AM
A4: 10:23 AM
etc.
B1: 23
B2: 34
B3: 12
B4: 35
etc.
So I want to be able to pull that between 8 and 9 AM there are 2 records.
The second part would be (in another cell) to pull the SUM of the numbers that correspond to the previous question. In the previous example it would be the SUM of all corresponding cells (Column B) that fall within the 8 and 9 AM range. Which would be 46 in this example.

I would like to perform a sum of randomly generated numbers between 0 and 6, but I want the number of independent random numbers to be dependent on another cell. I have =SUM(RANDBETWEEN(0,6) and then I get stuck. Is there a way to perform the RANDBETWEEN(0,6) a number of times stated in another cell? In this case that value is 67 but it will vary from around 5 to 150. I think there is a way to do this with macros, but I am not versed in visual basic. I am using Excel 2003.

I have a couple of issues and if its okay will post two threads to make it easier to follow due to my basic skills in Excel.
I have a workbook with 5 sheets. The first sheet is a stat sheet which picks up data from four other spreadsheets. I want to work out the average working days taken to complete a case but this data is across multiple sheets.
So for example Column E in each sheet tells you what type of case it is i.e. investigation. Then column T tells you number of workings day it took to complete the case. To work this out I have used the following formula:
=SUM(SUMIF(Further_Action!E:E,"Investigation",Further_Action!T:T),
SUMIF(Court_Application!E:E,"Investigation",Court_Application!T:T),
SUMIF(No_Further_Action!E:E,"Investigation",No_Further_Action!T:T),
SUMIF(Closed!E:E,"Investigation",Closed!T:T))/SUM(COUNTIF(Further_Action!E:E,"Investigation"),
COUNTIF(Court_Application!E:E,"Investigation"),COUNTIF(No_Further_Action!E:E,"Investigation"),
COUNTIF(Closed!E:E,"Investigation"))
I know its very basic but its the only way I know how to work out an average in Excel 2003. I need to add a second criteria where on every sheet it looks in column G for date the case was allocated. As I'm only looking to report in the current report year I want it to look for cases where the value in column G is =>01/04/14 but =<31/03/14.

I have a worksheet which has various figures for each day of the week however I need to establish the weekly average of these figures.
Due to the way in which the figures are displayed, I am unsure how to use a formula which does not require a range with cells located adjacent to one another.
I have attached a test sheet as an example. The cells in yellow require the formula and I need a weekly average for criteria 1-3. This formula also needs to be compatible in Excel 2003

I am trying to do the following.
Monday=0
Tuesday=5
Wednesday=10
Thursday=0
Friday=5
Saturday=0
Sunday=0
Averages
Monday=0
Tuesday=5
Wednesday=7.5
Thursday=0 (I have got a value return of 7.5)
Friday=5
Saturday=0 (I have got a value return of 5)
Sunday=0 (I have got a value return of 5)
I need to work out averages for cells higher than zeros, in other words, I need to ignore those.
Also say I have got an average of 5 by Tuesday and no number yet for the rest of the week, I still get an average of 5 for all days left which I do not want.
I am using excel 2003 and formula =SUM(RANGE)/COUNTIF(RANGE,">=0").
I would also like to hide the annoying #DIV/0! error.

In my workbook I have about 20 sheets (less in the attached sample), and on most sheets I’d like to query data for each day and find an average value based on the time and then copy that result into another sheet. I’m not sure if I’ll need 2 macro’s for this or if one can be used.
Here’s a quick description:
Assuming that I am currently in the sheet I want to run the macro, then I will either input “1:45” or “0:45” into a popup box, or I could always simply input the 1:45 or 0:45 in the code itself. I’m flexible
1:45:
If I input 1:45, then I’d like the macro to find the first 1:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation. Once 1:45 is located, then the macro moves up to find 22:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation.....

I need to count how many times the word Test is in the range B4:H9 with
Range N2 = Test the formula below works if Test is only in the cell once.
=COUNTIF($B$4:$H$9,"*" & N2 & "*")
But I have data in cells like below, this is all in one cell, so how would I have it count all the times test is in the range when some cells have test 2 or more times in a single cell?
5
Test
8am-2pm
Test
5pm-10pm

Ok, I for some reason just cant wrap my head around this. I need to to get the average time per call of two rows, but they are based on how many calls taken.
so in one column i have 50168 calls taken at 4:21 seconds per call. and in the next row i have 597 calls taken at 5:20 per call. I need to see what the new average will be with them combined, and I need it to display in m:ss form.

I'm looking for a formula that will calculate the difference in times between specific times while working with a 24 hr clock. Please see details below:
E3 provides the start time of 4:00
H3 provides an end time of 15:30
If an employee works betwen the hours of 0:00 (midnight) to 5:59, this is considered DIFF hours and is therefore the number I am seaking. So for the data noted above, the total DIFF hours worked is 2 hours.

One issue is that there may be skip or gaps in the date sequence, so I can't rely on the relative position of cells to be accurate.

If you have some low time resolution data you need to compare with high time resolution data how do you average the high resolution data. For example data that starts and ends a fortnight apart and you want to compare it with data that starts and ends 1 hour apart you need to average the hourly data to do so. I can't figure out how:
So if I had Sheet 1 with hourly data
A B C D E
1 Date, Time, Measurement
2 01/01/2014, 01:00, 62
3 01/01/2014, 02:00, 38
etc....
Then in Sheet 2, fortnightly data
A B C D E
1 Date on, Time On, Date Off, Time Off, Measurement
2 02/01/14, 15:23, 18/01/2014, 12:25, 52
3 18/01/2014, 12:25, 01/02/2014, 14:19, 34
etc....
I'd want to add a new column of data to average the hourly data so I can use the correl function.

I am measuring elapsed time for an event ie: began at 00:29 in ColA, ended 00:34 in ColB (or began 12:29 AM, ended 12:34 AM) for an elapsed time of 5 minutes. My result is being displayed as 00:05 in ColC which seems perfect at 0 hours and 5 minutes, but excel is seeing the result as 12:05 AM.
I have 20 rows of data and trying to get an average of the elapsed times in ColC
How do I get excel to read this as 0 hours 5 minutes instead of as the time of day?

I am trying to average times from one column that is the difference of two other columns (generally just minutes). It is formatted in a military time format.
However, I do have criteria it must meet from another column.
Ex:
Col A Col B Col C Col D
1 23:57 00:07 00:10 "=C2-B2+IF(B2>C2,1) fx I am using"
2 03:15 03:20 00:05
1 10:30 10:42 00:12
That's the basics, now I want to average Col D but only if it is a "1" in Col A. There are some empty cells, being its formatted for 100 entries. I can get an average of Col D and a count of Col A, but I can't combine them.

I'm using Excel 2003, so no AverageIf.
I have 15,000 rows of data.
In Worksheet_1, I have:
Column A (Date) contains daily dates ranging from January 1968 to today, though not every day is listed (weekends and holidays are excluded).
Column E (Price) contains daily prices.
On a separate worksheet (Worksheet_2), I need to calculate average monthly prices, listed by end of month dates (Monthly_Date and Monthly_Price, respectively).
I've been trying to use an array formula like this:
=AVERAGE(IF(AND(MONTH('Worksheet_1'!A2)=MONTH('Worksheet_2'!A2),YEAR('Worksheet_1'!A2)=YEAR('Worksheet_2'!A2)),'Workshee t_1'!E:E,"0"))
I can get an average of the whole column, but I cannot seem to make Excel "grab" only the corresponding data in Column E that matches the right date criteria (in this case, when the month=January and the year=1968).

I have a list in excel 2003. Two columns of that list have formulas on them and the last column contains a formula that finds the minimum value and the second lowest value on a certain column. The data I am checking for the minimum/second lowest spans from H9 To H61 for now and the formulas just doing fine with all the conditional formatting. How could I manage to always pick the last 53 rows of the data base which has 1000s of readings without having to change the range everytime in order for my formulas to work properly?

I'd like to search for a specific value like (1) in an array of cells like (A:A). The result needs to be the average number of a different column (B:B) in the same row as the searched value (1). And the resulting number should be rounded up to the nearest 10.
Example below: (Find value = 1 in A:A) ... 1 is found 4 times.
A | B
1 | 295
3 | 123
1 | 400
5 | 425
1 | 354
1 | 400
In the example above there are 4 (1's) found. By adding all the values in column (B) of the same row, we get 295+400+354+400 = 1449, dividing that in 4, the average is 362.25, rounding that up to the nearest 10... THE RESULT I'M LOOKING FOR IS: 370

I have an Excel 2003 file that contains hyperlinks to OneNote notebooks on a Sharepoint site. An Excel macro looks for these links and determines the full hyperlink address which is then assigned to a variable. An Outlook message is generated which includes the hyperlinks.
The hyperlinks work in the Excel file. I can also copy them from OneNote and manually paste them into an Outlook message and they work. However, when I obtain their full address and transfer that to the email through code, the links do not work. The hyperlink address from OneNote starts with "onenote:http" which is not recognized as a link.
If I can do this manually, there must be a way to do this with vba. Are there characters I need to include in the OneNote hyperlink address to make this work? Is there another way to transfer the working link from Excel to Outlook?
