Excel 2003 :: Printing - Text Box And Image Print Cell Data Doesn't?
Aug 30, 2013
She has a spreadsheet created in Excel 2003 (she is still using 2003) which contains an image with a textbox in the top left corner then all other cells contain data.
When user prints this spreadsheet all that prints is the image and the textbox.
I have cleared the print area reset the print area removed the picture (prints only the text box)
and none of these changes have changed what prints.
I have checked all printer setting and these appear normal.
previously user could print this spreadsheet fine and all other worksheets in the workbook print fine as well.
other users are still able to print to the same printer correctly from this spreadsheet.
I am having difficulty with a Vlookup in Excel 2003. Basically I have converted both fields to Text using the text function =TEXT(A2,"0") and have tried matching the values but just get an #N/A error and I have also converted both back to number format but still get the #N/A error....when I do a "=" operator function it returns a FALSE value but I cannot see why as both cell are just 4 or 5 digit number.
First I made some contents and drew a border from Home > Font > all Borders on an Excel 2010 file. So it became like below image (capture1). After that I wanted to print it so went to File > Print to see its preview. But the problem is that the lines between tue and wed and also between mon and tue are not shown neither in preview nor when printing. The height of row 7 until 17 is 24 (that is 32 pixel) but heights of the rest of the rows are normal (20 pixel).
When selecting multiple excel files in explorer, you can right click and choose to print the selected documents. All documents gets opened and printed but the files stay open and you have to manually click on YES or NO to save the changes.
Is there a way not to see this window appear. So documents get opened and printed and closes itself without asking anything. Maybe it can be done with an option in the preferences. I'm not sure.
By the way the documents where created with excel vba just in case it's relevant. Also the version of Excel is an older version, I think it was Excel XP or 2002/2003.
I'm having a 6000+ records, (contacts DB) exported in Excel 2003 format from MS Outlook.
Except the "First" and "LastName", all other contact elements are in the field "Notes" (which is the BZ column according to the exported outlook layout) multiplied by 6469 (records in total)
Now, I want every time to take the part of the text says "TER:something..." (part of which is date, but not every time with the known format dd-mm-yyyy, as you see here is yyy, followed by something else, with parenthesis here and maybe more data) and copy it in a new cell..., e.g:CO Column, same Row...
Above and every field which by the way is formatted as General (and it is text mainly) are made by merging older excel fields where data laid here and there, that's why you see the commas...with the method of a module with the following code:
Function MyMerge(Rng As Range) For Each Cell In Rng Temp = Temp & Cell.Value & ", " Next Cell Temp = Mid(Temp, 1, Len(Temp) - 2) MyMerge = Temp End Function
Note1:Records with the above string (TER:dd-mm-yyy) are 771 from 6469. Note2: As an alternative solution I can see an extraction of the TER:dd-mm-yyy string and the copy in a new place, like the:CO Column, same Row...
I have a bit of code that calls a formatting sub depending on which cell is modified. It is triggered by the Worksheet_Change event, determines which cell is modified, and either calls the formatting sub or doesn't based on the location of the modified cell.
Some of the columns in the sheet have data validation with drop downs. If I select a value from the drop down, it doesn't trigger the Worksheet_Change. If I type a value into the same cell, it does.
This was apparently an issue in Excel '97, but supposedly fixed in '03?
I have over 800+ pages of chart that only takes up 6 columns and around like 9000+ rows.
I wanted to print this chart on paper and need hardcopies. However, the chart in its current setup prints only on the left half of the page leaving the right half empty.
How do i make use of the full space properly? Each chart has a "page number" on it so I want the chart to print continuously from one half of the page onto the next half and then the second page, third, etc.
Here is a visual demonstration of how things currently are and how i'd like to get them to be:
As you can see, This is the first of many charts and its numbered Page 9 and next one is page 10.
Pic1
How this looks when i try to print, it's only on the left side. right is all blank Pic2
How i want it to look like upon printing Pic3
As you can see in the last picture, once page 14 chart has no space it automatically continues chart on right side of page and then moves on to print rest.
I just converted from Excel 2003 to 2007 and print previewed a worksheet and find a tiny image with a small portion of the print area. When I look at the sheet in page break preview mode, I see the 8.5 x 11 sheet broken up into approx 77 smaller sheets. When I try to move the page breaks to include the whole sheet it states the change cannot be made as it will result in an image less than 10%. I have attached two images - the first shows the print preview I get, and the second show the multiple pages when I view in page break.
I hold some data in the Excel 2007 file. It's about 400 rows and about 10 columns. On occasion I have to print some values from this file. But it has to be in defined position on the paper. It is like I already have the prepared paper with fields, and I just have to fill some fields on the paper with data from the columns. Is it possible to make a program that will take each row that I label for printing, and print just some columns but in a defined position on the paper ?
I am using OCR software to convert .tiff files to .xls files. In Excel I wrote a macro that executes upon encountering certain errors however I can't figure out the code I need to make Excel print the original .tiff file even though they have the same filename just different file extentions (tiff vs xls). I have all the necessary code except how to call the original .tiff file and print it to a printer.
I need to set a background as an image, but retain the cells so I can type in them individually (not using text boxes). This template will be used for automatically generated daily reports, so the cells have to be present. How can I retain the rows and cells as they are, but set an image behind them? Note: This isn't the header part of the header and footer, but the top of the document.
I'm using Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium. Although this file is saved with Excel 97-2003 - because the computers at work only use 2003.
OK - Here is my dilemma. I've been creating a spread(work)sheet for work. One of the fields that needs to be entered by the manager doing the papwerwork is 'Date'. I currently have the Data-Validation set as follows because the paperwork being done is for the yesterday:
Code: =TODAY()-1 I have the Error Alert set to Warning prompting the manager to ensure the date is correct (sometimes a mid-shift audit is being done, so the actual current date has to be used). Now, what I am wanting to do is to also set it that if the manager set's the date for a future date, I would like Excel to also either do a Warning or a Critical displaying a message that future dates cannot be used.
I know this may sound trivial, but with this paperwork, dates are extremely critical and vital in the event of an investigation for cash shortages etc.
I have uploaded the excel sheet to my domain, which I can provide a link to - either here or in a private message - but I do not want to do so unless I know that it's ok to do. If so, I will reply with a link to the location of the Excel file.
Sheet 1 contains huge amounts of data - thousands of rows and multiple columns
Sheet 2 - I want to extract the data from sheet 1 column A into sheet 2 column A but only the data from every 21st row.
I want to be able to copy the formula automatically down, otherwise it will take hours to do it manually. So far I can only get the cell reference to increment by 1 each time after copying.
Programming Excel VBA Macro to do OCR (text recognition) from a prt scr screen capture image and input the text into cells. Currently my Excel file has a push-button, and upon clicking on it the macro pastes into Excel the current clipboard image I have created by pressing prt scr while in another program. The macro then crops the image to the region with the applicable text. I have to then manually type the text I see in image format into the appropriate cells.
the VBA coding to automate this? I'd like it to use the clipboard image and run it through OneNote OCR, after which the applicable text values are automatically entered into the cells. Ideally the code will first crop to the region with the desired text before it does OCR. If this is not feasible, it will need to incorporate a method (keyword search?) to hone in on the desired text after the entire prt scr image has been OCRed.
I need to find an easy way to locate an image on my server and upon selection rather than inserting the actual image I need to insert the image path. e.g. "s:imageshighresgreen1234.jpg"
Date: 17/09/2013 KO: 19:45 Ref: B Malone Att: 7,574 extraction of text from the above text string which is say in A1. What l need is for Date to go in A2, KO in B2, Ref in C2, & Att in D2. I'm using Excel 2003
I need to print a number of worksheets with an office logo at the top left corner of the sheet. While I have no problem with most of the sheets, a number of them keep resizing the logo to smaller dimensions once I get to the print preview page. I don't seem to be doing anything different for these sheets as they all follow the basic template. The only was to get the logo to print at the size I want is to make it larger that I actually need it.
I am after a code that will sort out the below printing problem
I want excel to hide ALL OF column E from the printer, i want to see the information myself but when i press print, column E will not show on my printed page
i have found this Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean) If ActiveSheet.Name = "Sheet1" Then Cancel = True Application.EnableEvents = False Application.ScreenUpdating = False With ActiveSheet .Range("e1").EntireColumn.Hidden = True .PrintOut .Range("e1").EntireColumn.Hidden = False End With Application.EnableEvents = True Application.ScreenUpdating = True End If End Sub
but am not sure how to enter it, also if the code is correct. I have entered it using the alt+f11 then clicked on this sheet, and put it in there but it still dont work
I have a large number of product descriptions of varying lengths (column A) which I need to split into a maximum of 3 columns depending on the total length of the description. Each description in column A is less than 90 characters. Each column (B, C & D) can only be a maximum of 30 characters including spaces and commas etc. Also words cannot be split. Below is a sample of the result I would expect with the description in column A and the 3 extracted columns in B, C and D. I am using Excel 2003.
I struggle with my old excel (2003). There is a thing i have to do: put arrows from one sheet which will change its color depending on data, written in some fields. Also there is a task to put these values inside created arrows. I put values using commands:
Worksheets("Map").Shapes("COL").Select With Selection.Characters .Text = Range("Data!E4").Value
Arrows are drawn in different angles using drawing tool. So i need to rotate the text inside the arrows respectively to angle of the arrow rotation. So how is it possible to rotate text inside that shape?
A user inputs a string of letters/symbols all meaning different things. These would typically for my case be L, R, +, -, F. These items correspond to certain behaviors. Essentially I'm working on a L-System solver for those of you who are well versed in math. For those of you who aren't, I'll explain a bit.
An L-system starts with a string, for example:
LFL+F+LFL
and then has one or more generators:
L:-RF+LFL+FR- R:+LF-RFR-FL+
then at each iteration of the system, every L and R in the previous iteration gets replaced with that string. The +/- are incremental angles.
I need to be able to take each iteration and convert it into a series of rows with one character in each row. I need it to do this automatically, and automatically adjust to the proper length of rows (these strings can get thousands of characters long because each iteration of the system converts the Ls and Rs into longer strings containing more of all of those letters.) Once each of those rows are constructed, I need it to run some mathematical operations on each of these rows automatically.
For example, for each + or -, the value in an angle column should change by an increment given elsewhere in the sheet. For each F, the x and y coordinates should change from the previous iteration based on the angle (just a basic d+dcos(ang) or d+dsin(ang) where d is a distance multiplied by a scaling factor).
I have no experience with Macros or any type of scripting, so if I can keep this in an Excel formula, that would be ideal. I know a minimal amount of C++ and Python, but that's the extent of my programming knowledge.
I need an Excel 2003 compatible solution for this. Formulae only, no Macros or VBA in this case. The limitation set by the organisation we report to.
On sheet LGFC I have clients with their attendance hours, notes and the relevant dates.
01/07/2013 01/07/2013 08/07/2013 08/07/2013 15/07/2013 15/07/2013 Ref No Name Carer Name Client Active
[code]....
To really test if this works you need to extend this over more than one month. My sheet goes on for a full financial year and of course with rows of clients. I now need to report per month. However, next financial year the month column locations may vary.
We need to report per month.I am able to sum up the month's total hours for all clients (E3 to J26) with the following formula (which ignores text). Data!$G3 gives the relevant month in date format (1/7/2013).
=SUM(IF(ISNUMBER(LGFC!1:1),IF(LGFC!1:1-DAY(LGFC!1:1)+1=Data!$G3,LGFC!3:26))) array formula: Ctrl Shift Enter
This results (example data) in 10 hours. (if I had a client 2 with zero hours, and a client 3 with another 10 hours it would result in 20 hours)
Now my next step would be to report any notes. So I want to find all the text in that month and concatenate it into one cell. I started with this formula, but that doesn't work and gives a FALSE.
Doesn't work!
=CONCATENATE(IF(ISNUMBER(LGFC!1:1),IF(LGFC!1:1-DAY(LGFC!1:1)+1=Data!G3,LGFC!3:26))) array formula: Ctrl Shift Enter
Doesn't work!
Ideally I would not just want everything jumbled into one concatenation, but even that would be acceptable. (It is unlikely that there would be more than 255 cells with notes.)
Based on the above example the ideal result would look like:
1 Mrs Test, unwell, left early, Sick
But I would accept just the notes unwell, left early, Sick
It needs to ignore blank cells. With multiple clients it would ideally look like:
1 Mrs Test, unwell, left early, Sick
2 Mr Best, in hospital, visiting family, Sick
or
1 Mrs Test, unwell, left early, Sick / 2 Mr Best, in hospital, visiting family, Sick If we want to include the Ref No and Client Name it probably needs another if statement. "If there is text to concatenate that month/row than include Ref No and Client Name."
