Excel 2013 :: Filter Pivot By Top 10 And Greater Than 0?
Apr 6, 2014
In Excel 2013, I have a pivot table showing the deals that our sales team are trying to close during this Qtr. and how much revenue we hope to get from those deals during this Qtr, next Qtr and beyond. The FILTER area of the pivot table is used to select the current Qtr.In the ROWS section, I set the "Deal ID" field with a value filter to Top 10 items by current Qtr revenue.
Data is refreshed weekly.
At the start of the Qtr, this works perfectly.
Towards the end of the Qtr, (when there are less than 10 deals with revenue this Qtr, and lots with 0), the "Top
10" filter is showing all the deals with 0.
How can I filter a pivot to show items that are >0 AND Top 10?

Using Excel 2013,
I clicked on a field in my RowLabels
I then clicked on the Filter Arrow for the RowField
The SelectedField prompted with the correct field of 4 possible fields
However the item I am looking for is not in the list but I can plainly see it on the screen.

I have a database in Excel 2013 and now I want that when a value (a person's name) is entered in a cell. That then the database sort of filters the list for me, so it's still possible to make changes in the entries.

Picture above to specify the search, which I would therefore like to edit

I have been all morning working on a simplified version of the tutorial from YouTube: Create your own Excel Search Pt. 4. But came back later so only then that I can not change the data:?

I just got into the world of PowerPivot, Excel 2013 and Pivot Tables and am in the process of creating a Dashboard which I will then be uploading to SharePoint 2013.
On top of page I added the new timeline filter which I've linked to my pivot charts. Now what I would like to do, is create an additional pivot chart which looks at whatever date range has been used in the timeline filter and subtract 5 years from that. So, when I select a date range of November 2013 - December 2013 in timeline filter, the additional pivot chart will show the details for November 2008 - December 2013. This is where I get stuck.
I'm using two SSAS cubes which I'm combining together in PowerPivot and then display in Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts.

I have a Table ("Table2") in a worksheet ("Dashboard") that contains monthly data arranged in rows. I have made the data fields show #NA for months I want to exclude based on dynamic criteria.
Now, I would like to automatically filter out the rows (months) with #NA so that they are not charted.
It works manually but I have to Right Click on the Table --> Filter --> Reapply every time the source data changes. How can I make this happen automatically so that the user does not have to manually reapply each time.

I am trying to save filter options to so I can apply the same filter to multiple spreadsheets. For example, I have several spreadsheets with 50 or more school names and I am trying to set a filter that will filter out the same 20 schools each time. Is there anyway to do this in excel 2013?

Is there a Column Filter Drop down Keyboard Shortcut for Excel 2013?
In Excel 2013, is there a keyboard shortcut to access the column filter drop down. For example, if you are on the cell A1, and you select Filter under the data menu and you want to filter column A without using your mouse, is there a keyboard shortcut to do this. I know Alt-A-C, clears the filters, but I want to know if there is a shortcut to access the filters in the column. In case my explanation isn't clear, I have included some screenshot pictures of the filter, before and after it is selected, to show what I am talking about, and what I am trying to accomplish without the mouse.

Is there a macro available which will create a pre-defined name for a pivot sheet, which will contain the word "Pivot" followed by a underscore "_" and the name of the sheet on which the pivot is applied.
Example: I have data on a sheet called "Salary" and put a pivot on "Salary" on a new sheet, the new sheet should be auto named as "Pivot_Salary"

Using Excel 2013.
Trying to create a Calculated Column in a table to put Expense in 1 of 4 categories
I came up with =CALCULATE(sum([TotalExpense]),FILTER(factExpense,factExpense[ExpnseType]="Sundries"))
But that is returning total instead of a total for each record What did I miss?
This works for the first Calculated column: =CALCULATE(sum([TotalExpense]),FILTER(dimExpense, dimExpense[Type]="Sundries"))
But as soon as I copy the formula to the next column and update the type to "Wines_Spirits" I get
A circular dependency was detected
Found the answer on SQLBI website I added a unique id to each row and in Table Behavior in the Data Model set the Unique_ID as the Row_Identifier

I have some nominal data that I'd like to get into a pivot table (Excel 2013). For simplicity let's say it's a one-question survey with 6 respondents:
Q1: Dogs are better than Cats
Strongly Agree
Agree
Neither Agree or Disagree
Disagree
Strongly Disagree
Responses:
Agree
Strongly Agree
Strongly Agree
Strongly Agree
Agree
Strongly Agree
I can create a pivot table with this data and get the following:
Row Labels
Count of Q1
Strongly Agree
4
Agree
2
Grand Total
6
This all works nicely, however I require that the other options ("Neither Agree or Disagree", "Disagree", and "Strongly Disagree") be present, even if their values are 0, like the following:
Row Labels
Count of Q1
Strongly Agree
4
Agree
2
Neither Agree or Disagree
0
Disagree
0
Strongly Disagree
0
Grand Total
6
What I tried doing was adding a new column and calling it something like Ratings with the following:
Ratings
Strongly Agree
Agree
Neither Agree or Disagree
Disagree
Strongly Disagree
Then I set the Ratings column in the "Rows" section of the pivot table and the Count of Q1 column in the Values section. This is what happened:
Row Labels
Count of Q1
Strongly Agree
1
Agree
1
Neither Agree or Disagree
1
Disagree
1
Strongly Disagree
1
Grand Total
6

I have 2 columns with a list of competitors (competitor 1 & competitor 2) involved in a negotiation + the price/value of the negotiation. Each line represents a negotiation with a value in numbers & the names of the 2 main competitors involved.
I have around 150 lines in the original file and would like to show in a graphic what are the competitors that we regularly find in the negotiations and what is the value of the negotiations they are involved.
The problem is that there is no main competitor so i can find the same name in any of the 2 columns and i cannot make separate graphs for each column because if i do so i duplicate the value.
Is there any way that aggregate this info into a single graphic/pivot graphic? Im using excel 2013

I have a pivot table in Office 2007. I want to filter the last column such that the values in the data area are greater than a certain number. But all those filter options are grayed out. The only option available (and working) is to select the top n entries. So clearly a reference into the data field to filter a column works, but why not by value?

I have a pivot in excel 2007 but I have the following problem; I want to exclude values from one variable that have a value lower than zero or blanks:
Month #AVG Employees
Jan 200
Feb 171
But the problem is, if i filter on the variable by placing it in the Report filter (select multiple items to remove blanks and -999), when i refresh the pivot next time for the new month it won't add the new values for the next month. How to have the filter so it applies the criteria but allowing new values in for the next month.

I have linked Combo Box to Pivot Reporting Filter through VBA. When I Select Combo Box Value, same will be filtered in Pivot table. Combo Box values are constant where as Pivot report filter may not contain all the values which are in Combo Box. If Combo Box value is not available in Reporting filter of Pivot it should throw up msgbox and should select first value of Combo box.

vba in excel 2013 pivot table that updates from an online CRM rows are a to h and it can be any number of rows. What I am trying to do is track progress. In column f values indicate probability for success 10 25 45 90, which can go up or down. The pivot table is refreshed to get the latest values from CRM. the update is handled by a connection to the crm not in the vba.
So far I been researching methods to conditionally format values that went up, down or remained the same since the last refresh with up down and across arrows. I have managed to piece together what I think should work but alas it is not. So I have come to you internet.
My code first clears any formatting and goes down the column avoiding null or empty cells, comparing the values in column f to values in column j.
I have 3 conditions greater than, less than or equal to, and would like add an icon for each based on the result of the comparison.
Finally when it finishes the column the code copies the current values in the pivot table column f to column j outside the pivot table which i hope to be able to hide once the cf works. The code is below

I have created a pivot table in Excel 2010 that lists amounts used of particular items each month. Inside the pivot table value field settings i have changed the show values as field so that it displays the difference in usage from this month to last.
However if i now select a top 10 filter it only filters by the total number used as opposed to the difference in usage from one month to the next (which is the values displayed).
Is there a way that i can filter by top 10 by the actual values displayed in the pivot chart and not just the underlying data that creates it?

I have a pivot table that I want to update via VBA based on dates user inputs on an input tab. (Want to use the Between function)
The Date field is in the Report Filter section (as I don't want it in the row or column area), but when I click on the dropdown arrow, I don't get any option to filter the date at all. I've double checked that the dates in my datasource are formatted for a pivot table, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.
When I use code I've found on this and other sites, it also doesn't work. When I run it, I get the following error at the "If Date DateValue(PI.Name) < StartDate Or DateValue(PI.Name) > EndDate Then..." line
Error Message: Unable to set the Visable Property of the Pivot Item Class

Const StartDate As Date = #1/15/2013#

In Excel 2007 is it possible to filter the "Values" in a Pivot Table?
I am tracking the Gross weight of shipping containers. My table sums the weight of all items in a container by container number. So my rows are 9 digit container numbers and my data values is a Sum of part weights. I want to be able to filter out containers above a certain weight.
for example:
Row Labels Sum of Gross Wt. - Lbs
10003150588929
10003153258700
10003155984958
1000315651530
10003156549761
I know I can simply copy and paste into a new tab and sort it there, but I'd like to be able to do it internal to the pivot table if that is possible.

I have a pivot table which has a report filter. The report filter can have anywhere from 20 to 350 values. The user will be able to select multiple values from the listing to produce the table as needed. I would like to be able to display what values were selected in the report filter so that the user can see this information once the pivot table is rendered. Is there any way to display this information either above below or along side of the table itself?
I am using Excel 2011 for Mac, but I also have access to Excel 2011 for Windows. Either way will work. I have been able to get quite a bit of what works on Windows to work with the Mac.

I'm on Mac using Excel 2011. This means I don't have "slicers", which is all my Googling kept turning up.
I have a pivot table with 4 different value columns, and I want to be able to filter it the same way you would a normal table - i.e. remove everything below a specific number in one column, and filter for only specific strings in another column, etc.

In Excel 2010; the pivot Tables drop down filter is limited to 10,000 records. if more than 10,000 are available then a message saying "Not all items showing" is displayed at the bottom of the list.
Clickin on the message would display a window saying: "This field has more than 10,000 items under one or more parent items. Only the first 10,000 items are displayed under each parent item."

In the coming months the company i work for will be transferring from Excel 2003 to Excel 2010 (i know, a little late......) and now i am testing some things at home.
We deliver lots of Excel reports to our clients where we are using Pivot tables. In excel 2003 we where able to hide items from the dropdowns using properties - hide items but when i now open an excel 2003 file in excel 2010 and want to filter the pivot table to (let's say) another month i see all my hidden items.
Is there an option in excel 2010 to hide items like i could do in 2003? (either regular option or VBA)

I have a perfectly working pivot table and I would like to make some graphs based on the report filter. My report filter has 4 categories, with each more than 10 sublevels.
When I make one pivot graph/chart, this goes fine, the data is ok, and I am happy. But one I make a second, and thus adjust the report filter, the first graphs changes according to the filter. I dont want that to happen
Ultimately I would like a powerpoint presentation with multiple charts, based on one table, with different report filter filters. Updated ONLY on the values, not the filter.

Any way to create a calculated field in an Excel 2010 pivot table that will find all the Transaction Types (Report Filter) with "transportation" in them and make the field Quantity 0 and leave all other quantities the same? I do not want the quantity of transportation added in twice and may not have the flexibility of adding a column to the raw data.
I used the formula below in a calculated field and it does not match the values using the added column to the data file.
=IF(ISERROR(SEARCH("*transportation*",'Transaction Type')),Quantity, 0)
I am trying to get the sum of Quantity field to equal the AdjQuantity field using a calculated Pivot field and not add a new column to the data.

I have a set of four pivot tables on a sheet that I need to programmatically change a Report Filter (Page Field) so I can create sets of reports in an automated fashion. This will be the first step in that process. The change will involve choosing > 1 Role each time the code loops through based on Named Ranges I've defined that are associated with that Role.
My code thus far:
Code:
Sub TestCode()
Dim pt As PivotTable
Dim pf As PivotField
Dim pi As PivotItem
[Code]....
emm_dc_gsr is one of many Named Ranges that will contain a variable number of elements. Just using the one right now to see if I can get the code to work, I'll eventually make another Named Range/Array of all them so I can loop through each Report ("ReportPick").
I want the Report Filter to consult that Named Range for its values and apply those values to PivotField "Role" that is used as a Report Filter.
When running this code above, I get a "Role" Field that says "All" but no values (the table is completely blank), with no evidence as to why it'd be blank (all filters in every Report, Column and Row are working normally and are filled in). When I choose a value manually after the code is run, the pivot table values populate. Do I need to somehow index the Named Range in that loop? I'm just confused about this step right here:
For Each pi In pf.PivotItems
If pi.Value = RolePick Then
pi.Visible = True
Else: pi.Value = False
When I've run other versions of the code, I've gotten an array version of it to "work" using LBound and UBound, but it never chooses the right two values even though those are verified as stored in the array via a pass-through. It chooses the first few values in the Report Filter.
Here's the corresponding code for that:
For i = LBound(myArray) To UBound(myArray)
pf.PivotItems(i).Name = myArray(i, 1).Value
pf.PivotItems(i).Visible = True
Next
I do not care if I use an array or a Named Range. I just want something that is simple and works. Passing the values directly from the named range seems easiest to my brain, but I'm open to anything and I'm clearly missing something (probably silly).
I also have no idea why " .AutoSort xlManual, .SourceName, .EnableMultiplePageItems" is necessary though every piece of sample code I've seen seems to have some variation of it.
(Using Excel 2010, Windows 7.)

I have this problem which I have simplified below:
Sheet 2 contains a Pivot table. One of the report filters is "Month-Year" (Eg, May-14 - in date format 'mmm-yy') which is selected by a Slicer on sheet 1.
Cell D1 on Sheet 2 contains a formula which calculated/displays the mmm-yy of the same period last year (eg May-13).
I want a code so that when I select the 'Month-Year' Slicer to filter the pivot table on Sheet 1 (eg to May-14), another Pivot on Sheet 3 is filtered with the previous year mmm-yy (May-13).
