Aug 15, 2006is it possible to leave a column out of this sort code as in A the very first column which just numbers the rows?

Function To Sort A Range By The Values In A Specific Column And Return The Range
Mar 25, 2009I was just recently forced to create my first UDF and after how well it worked I now am very interested in learning more. I am trying to create a function to sort a range by the values in a specific column and return the range. I know this should be really simple but for some reason my code dies whenever it gets to my inner-most loop. I need to use this in a larger function but for now this is my only question. I did find that Excel 2007 has built in Functions for this but my company still uses 2003.

Excel 2010 :: Using Autofill On Spreadsheet That Includes Filtered Column?
Jun 27, 2014I am working with a very large spreadsheet 10k references... I need to add sequential numbers in a column to identify the references but I need to use he filter in the author column due to the way my referencing software exports the data...
When I try to use the pull down autofill it just keeps repeating the last or second last number of the cell - the autofil box that usually appears has disappeared.

Apr 24, 2008I have a question regarding automating excel sorting in Excel 2007. Here's what I have, I have a sheet that I need to sort on a weekly basis as the data is always being updated. Here is what i am basically doing with sheet and I am using a MACRO RECORDER to automate it.
1) I select column2 ~ column 7 (B:G)
2) I sort with the following order.
- column 3 (column C) ascending order, then
- column 4 (column d) ascending order, then
- column 6 (column f) ascending order, then
- column 2 (column b) DESCENDING order.

Nov 13, 2009I've got data for different regions of our company. For this example, what I need to do is count the number of jobs in the "South Atlantic" region (Column T) that are NOT "Wal-Mart Stores, Inc" jobs. In order to do this, I put a "1" in Column F so that the formula would have something to sum:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(T2:T1079="SOUTH ATLANTIC"),--(H2:H1079<>"WAL-MART STORES, INC"),(F2:F1079))
The problem is that some job numbers, which are located in Column G, are duplicated. As a result, this number is higher than it should be.
So what I need to do is only count each job number once. How do I do that? Is there a way to modify the existing formula? Or do I need something completely different?

Feb 4, 2010I analyze logged data that often contain ZEROS in column L, always starting on row 35. That's bad data. The first row with good data contains the number 700 in column L, but this row number is unpredictable.
How to make a VBA code to exclude the rows that contain the number 0 in column L, searching between cell L35 (including) all the way to the first row containing the number 700?
I need to limit the range to be scanned for ZEROS because sometimes there are valid ZEROS in column L, but those would be in rows below the rows contain 700 in column L.

Aug 27, 2012I have a column (B) of randomly generated numbers 1-14, and am using this formula range to sort in descending order and return the relevant value from column (c).
=VLOOKUP(LARGE(B3:B20,1),B3:C20,2,) to =VLOOKUP(LARGE(B3:B20,14),B3:C20,2,)
Works great, except when a number is duplicated, (E.G. 14,13,13,12,11,10,10,9,8 etc). It then returns the first value from(C) repeated, and not the value from the second and subsequent duplicated reference numbers.
Multiple Date Column To Single Column & Sort
Sep 23, 2006I'm looking for a way to sort dates from several columns into a new single column (perhaps multiple columns if the entry columns become too numerous). I've included an example. There are currently only 4 columns, but there may be as many as 20 in the future, each with 20 dates under each heading. Any blank cells would be eliminated. If I filled a blank with a new date, that date would be placed into the chronological column. So basically, this would take the date from several different categories and create a single calendar of events.

However, I've got some text (Select Stockpile Item) that I wish not to be included in the A-Z sort as this might put items starting with T or later at the end of the sort.

1st Group of columns range
Columns AJ through AX
Column Heading example "Expense Ratio February 2013......next Column over is "Expense Ratio March 2013"
2nd Group of columns range AY though CE

Each new month I need to add a new Expense Ratio column after the most recent expense ratio Column. (i.e. Find "Expense Ratio March 2013" and I need to add a column after that with heading "Expense Ratio April 2013"

Jun 1, 2009I'm trying to write a code that calculates 2nd column based on 3rd column's number or vice versa based on the condition set on the 1st column. Below, there are two procedures. "SimpleCalc" and "SimpleCalc2". I first wrote SimpleCalc2, but it isn't working, so I worked around the error by writing SimpleCalc, which selects a cell and moves around by offset. I personally find it hard to read and error prone as I develop more logic around it.
I'm trying to develop more function based on this code, so I need to make it neat and flexible. what I'm doing wrong in SimpleCalc2? Or do you have any suggestion to improve the code "SimpleCalc"? I'm using Excel 2003.

Mar 7, 2008I have two different Excel reports and the data needs to be copied from each column on one spreadsheet and pasted to the bottom of the equivalent column on the other spreadsheet.
So, is it possible to get a macro that will copy the data from one column then paste it to the next free cell in the column on the other spreadsheet.
If I could get some code to do one column then this should be enough to get me started and I could apply this to the other columns I need to copy.

When I do the Macro recorder to see what the code is I realize that the RANGE and WORKSHEETS properties are very specific. The problem of course is that where ever I use this script I will not have the same ranges and the worksheet name might be different. Is there a more general way to write this to allow it to work on any of my documents.
