Highlight Repeat Cells In One Column If Cells In The Adjacent Column Contain Specific Text?
Apr 14, 2014
I am trying to find a solution for highlighting cells in a column that are repeats, ie. >3. I also need these cells to only be highlighted if the adjacent cell in the next column contains specific text. I have tried using conditional formatting with a countifs formula to no avail.
I would like to search Column C for an instance of the text "Std. Residual", then cycle through the non blank cells to the right and run some formatting code:
VB: 'this line will be modified so that i cycle through the non blank cells that i have found For row_cycle = 1 To 7 'not signifcant If Abs(ActiveCell) < 1.96 Then Selection.Interior.Color = 255
[Code] .....
I then want to search for the next instance of "Std. Residual" in Column C, do the same again, and so on for the entire Worksheet.
I want to search for a word in column A and when I find it I want to copy it to column B. Column A is a description that can be 6 or 7 words long. Column B is a single word.
Example:
Col A Engine Kit, V-8, 306, forged. I need to copy the word Kit to column B.
I would like to highlight the rows in my spreadsheet where columns G and H both contain the text "Yes". I've tried conditional formatting and VBA but can't seem to get either to work for what I need.
Sub For_Adam() For x = 1 To Range("G7") Calculate Range("G11").Select Selection.Copy Range("B15").Select ActiveCell.Offset(x, 0).Range("A1").Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False
Next x Application.CutCopyMode = False End Sub
Now all I want is for this to be repeated in the next column, so everything is exactly the same but it doesn't start in B15, but starts in C15, then D15 etc.
I have a worksheet on which the data is already grouped. At the top of each group is a row that contains only the group name. Since the rest of that row is blank, I want to use a blank cell on that row as a reference, then copy the group name to a newly created column, then fill that column down to the next group.
The goal is to create a column that contains the group name, rather than just having the group name as a " header" at the top of each group.
I would like a macro that when run, finds empty cells in a column within the used range and fills them with the same formula in the other cells in the same column but relative to the row.
I have a basic understanding of VBA so if someone can set me on the right track i'll have a go myself as i appreciate this would take a while to write out from scratch.
In the attached sheet I need to check on the Destination in column B, and if it matches set criteria, divide the figure in Column E by 2. eg If LAX is the destination, then for any rows directly under LAX until the next destination appears, column E needs to equal column D divided by 2. If the Destination is not LAX, then Column E equals Column D.
the difficulty I am having is that there can be a variety of row numbers for each destination. I am having trouble creating a formula that can basically work backwards from Row-1 in column B until it gets to a text string, and check that text string against the criteria. so it may be row -1 up to about row -9 dependant on the number of flight times available to each destination throughout the week.
One has numbers the other has "YES" or is blank. I want a formula to look at the second column and where there is a "Yes" then count the number in the same row in the first column.
I have a workbook with multiple sheets named by month and year that I use to keep track of loans I work with at a bank. In these sheets I have info such as:
Column B = due date Column D = loan# A Column E = loan# B Column F = status Column H = followup needed (Columns A,C, and G aren't important for the current need)
What I am trying to do is create a main sheet (TRACKER) that all I will have to do is press a macro button and it will pull info for each loan that is in a pending status.
I need a macro that will search column F (Status) on all sheets and find each instance of "Pending" and once that is done, copy rows B,D,E, and H in each "Pending" instance and copy them to their designated area on my TRACKER sheet. After that is done I need it to continue to the next "pending" instance and do the same on the next available line on my TRACKER sheet.
The overall goal would be that everyday I can press the macro and it will repopulate the sheet with the current pending items (as each day I will change pending status' to complete and no longer need to track it the next day).
I already have the tracker sheet set up and ready to go with the spaces as follows: Column G&H = Merged cells where due date will need to go Column I&J = Merged cells where loan# A will need to go Column K&L = Merged cells where loan# B will need to go Column M thru S = Merged cells where followup needed will need to go
I would like to write a macro to add cells in columns C,D,E,F,G & H based on the text (employee) entered in column B. For example I need it to add all the cells for "John S" found within column "C" and then total it at the bottom with a code JSSS (John S straight shop time) or JSOS (John S overtime shop) as per my example. The attatchment is a spreadsheet I use to total billable hours for our employees.
I have a couple of spreadsheets that has several columns each containing several hundred thousand rows of codes. To quickly analyze this data, I am trying to come up with a conditional formatting formula to highlight the respective cells when specific values occur next to each other. A particular code will show up in many cells, but the code that is the respective adjacent cell is always different. I need to know when row A contains, for example, '9928559' and row B contains '36415RT'.
In column A, I have unit numbers. Column B is blank. I need help copying the unit number in Column A down in Column B until a new unit number appears in column A. For example, in A6 is unit LS2, A12 is unit LS24, A17 is unit LS34. I would like to be able to copy A6 into B6:B11, A12 into B12:B16, and A17 into B17:B22, etc.
I have the code to copy A6 in to B6 and down, but I don't know how to make it stop at A12. Attached is also an example.
How would you select cell values from differing rows based on the name in an adjacent column. ie, if it says John, add that data to the source data, if not move on.
I have a list of values, some are like values, others are not. is there a way to have the column to the right automatically merge the cells which have like information to their left. Attached is a sample file. I want to be able to have the cells in column B automatically merge based on the values in column A. I'm not sure if this can be done, but figured I would ask before I spend hours merging cells.
In a worksheet, J2:J52 contains a list of unique strings; each cell populated by an embedded formula. Some of the cells contain a valid 'blank' "" given by the formula.
I'd like K2:K52 to contain the values J2:J52, with all the populated cells stacked at the top and the 'blank' cells at the bottom. 'Blank' cells do not have to be in any particular order.
I've been fiddling with the formula kindly provided by WindKnife on the second post in the thread below for the past couple of hours, but to no avail:
I am attempting to program a column of cells so that if say "B3" doesn't match the contents of "A3", then "B3" will be highlighted in some way, maybe with a color. I'm using Excel 2000 and I can't see a way in Conditional Formatting to accomplish this without having to program each cell in column "B". I was hoping to be able to click and drag down in column "B".
Essentially, sheet b is a list of 900 people I need to mail to. Sheet a has 3000 rows of people, many of whom don't need the mailing. It has mailing addresses that we need in sheet b.
We have two worksheets, sheet a and sheet b
compare sheet b, column c (email addresses) to sheet a, column x, (email addresses). If they match, move sheet a, columns d, e, f, g, and h to sheet b.
I need a formula to run down a column DCapture.JPG (starting at 142), when it finds the last entered value it needs to display the corresponding value from column J into cell AA21.
If you see the attached photo, the last entered data in column D would be 1, AA21 would be saying -30 (J205)
How do I get the cells in column "F" to highlight all negative numbers UNLESS the following 2 conditions are met: the number in column F = "-105" AND there is an "@" corresponding in column "C". In the attached file F5 & F7 are highlighted properly according to what I want, but F6 is not (since F6's value is "-105" AND C6's value contains an "@").
How do I select or highlight cells from row 1 through row x (a numeric variable) in column A? I'm eventually hoping to shift those cells in column A (from row 1 to x) to the right by one.
I am attempting to have a cell highlighted if the adjacent cells are visible, but no highlighting when the cells are hidden. For example, Cell D1 is highlighted when cells A1:C1 are visible, but not when cells A1:C1 are hidden. (this is for the group/outline feature)
I have a spreadsheet with temperature data, all in one column (D), that was recorded every 10 minutes for several months. In two adjacent columns (E & F), I would like to record the daily max and min temperatures. I can manually do this with MAX and MIN formulas in column E and F respectively, MAX(D1:D144). But when I copy this formula to the next row, I get MAX(D2:D145) when what I really want is MAX(D145:D288)....and so on...
