I have been trying to use a date range as criteria for a macro to both delete some rows and add data to other rows. I have attacked this from many different angles and stressed myself near to insanity, but I think I am very close now, to the solution that is. I have a macro to add a sheet and it has two InputBoxes that ask for the start date and the end date, these are then changed to a number so it can be used in another macro.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I copy the formula to another cell, It doesn't show the result. But when I double click on it, it works. For example
there r values in A1 as "john" & A2 as "Jack". I write formula =A1 in cell B1. It shows "John". Now I copy this formula to B2, it shows "john" instead of "Jack" . When I double click on B2 & enter, it shows "Jack".
I am trying to populate many arrays with the same code using something like this. For this test, assume the following data in A1.

Code:
Sub populate()
Dim firstArr(5), secondArr(5), thirdArr(5), fourthArr(5), fifthArr(5) As Integer
Dim r, c, num As Integer

The above code does not work of course and falls over. I am unsure whether I should try and concatenate with something like this eg "" & arrName(i) = Cells (r,c) or go down a different route.
I have a column of values 2000 rows deep, and in separate column would like to determine the relative magnitude of any given value compared to the rest of the values in the column. So for example, if the highest value is 23.3, the number that would be returned is 1 (meaning this is the max value), if the lowest value is 12.4 the number that would be returend is 2000 (meaning this is the min value); if the value is the 12th highest, then the the number that would be returned would be 12 and so on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like to search for a specific value like (1) in an array of cells like (A:A). The result needs to be the average number of a different column (B:B) in the same row as the searched value (1). And the resulting number should be rounded up to the nearest 10.
Example below: (Find value = 1 in A:A) ... 1 is found 4 times.
A | B
1 | 295
3 | 123
1 | 400
5 | 425
1 | 354
1 | 400
In the example above there are 4 (1's) found. By adding all the values in column (B) of the same row, we get 295+400+354+400 = 1449, dividing that in 4, the average is 362.25, rounding that up to the nearest 10... THE RESULT I'M LOOKING FOR IS: 370
I want to copy =d8*k10 into several cells, but the references keep changing. I've tried several things that I've found on the internet, but nothing seems to work and the I can't seem to copy to a columnof cells.

Among other things, I have a workbook with these worksheets in it: Hours, Cost, Profit, Revenue.
Columns A, B, C & D should be exactly the same on each worksheet. So, I have all the data for these columns entered into Hours, and then reference that worksheet on the other ones.
That works fine until I sort it differently and then instead of having row 2 reference row 2, it will be in row 9, etc.
Now I know I can use =+Hours!$A$2 for the absolute reference, but then i would manually have to change the reference on each cell.
SO - (finally the question) Is there a way to use the absolute reference without having to manually enter it into each cell?
I'm preparing an accounting model for my office use. How to solve the copying of formula to all other cells.
The detail is here:
Sheet 1:
1) I've entered a number 1000 in L2
Sheet 2:
1) I've entered a values in columns D,E,F,G
2) Calculations :
at G2 : the formula is =D2*Sheet1!L2
The problem is when I Copy the formula in G2 through G3, G4, G5........... it changes to =D3*Sheet1!L3, =D4*ValidData!L4, =D5*ValidData!L5 and so on... but it should be =D3*Sheet1!L2, =D4*ValidData!L2, =D5*ValidData!L2, so that the L2 value shall be constant for calculations in all cells.
I have one sheet with all the formulas for the entire workbook and would like to copy and paste the formulas from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2...Sheet 1 to Sheet 3 etc. without changing the cell referening in the original formula. I am not too sure how .formula works.
Sub CopyAndPaste()
' To copy formulas from Summary sheet to their respective sheets
With Worksheets("Summary")
.Range("R3").Copy Worksheets("2").Range("X3").Formula = Worksheets("Summary").Range("R3")
End With
End Sub
I have two columns. The first is imported NAMES, ADDRESSES, AND CSZ on three lines, repeating over and over again. Several hundred names, addresses, csz. The SECOND column is a formula which picks up ONLY the text name in the first column. The SECOND column will just be one NAME after another, so the formulas will SKIP two rows in the first column. HOW do I copy down / propagate relative formulas to do this

I have the following code which Clears the content of a cell. The next thing I want to have happen is to have another cell equal a formula but make that formula relative to its place. The formula is the following =IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(F56,Routes_All,2,0)),0,VLOOKUP(F56,Routes_All,2,0))
I am not sure how to paste it where the row changes depending on where it is pasted. Here is the code that does not work...
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Worksheets("2008 Log").Select
Dim cRow
cRow = ActiveCell.Row '
Cells(cRow, Range("Column_Type_Of_Ride").Column).ClearContents
Cells(cRow, Range("column_duration").Column).value = "=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(F56,Routes_All,2,0)),0,VLOOKUP(F56,Routes_All,2,0))"
End Sub
As you can see, no matter where I paste it it will always refer to row "F". How can I have it refer to row "cRow"?
eg say you call (ie insert a range name) cell A1 "firstcell", B1 "secondcell", then A2 "divisor1" and B2 "divisor2". if you put a formula in A3 which is "=A1/A2", how do you copy and paste this formula into B3 but getting the formula to reference B1/B2 rather than firstcell/divisor1, as it does by default?
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to write a vb code to do the following actions with an excel sheet, which contains a dump from SAP. This dump usually consists of anywhere between 25 to 30 columns and about 20000 to 30000 rows…
1. Find all rows which contain “VN” and place it into the sheet Vendor Charges (which already exists). Which could be in any column
2.Find all rows which contain “MT” and place it into the sheet Material Charges (which already exists).
I have attached the excel sheet to better explain what I had in mind. ‘sheet1’ contains the raw data from SAP but, the number of columns varies every time so it cannot be directly sorted by selecting the column. I tried recording a macro but, as I don’t have a constant sheet to work with each time the macro obviously doesn’t work.
In my data validation I have the following formula as the Source: =INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE($F$2," ","_")). I want to be able to copy the cell and paste it into another cell and have the formula update to reference the new cell. Currently the validation is for cell G2 and references F2. I want to be able to copy G2 and paste it in G3-G6 having the formula update so it refrences F3-F6.

I have an array that refers to a range of values:
Dim vtimeheader As Variant
vtimeheader = Worksheets("output").Range("e4:xfd4").Value
(1) I now want to delete all values in the array
(2) I want to apply the format "General" to all the cells in the array
i want to change the table_array reference without changing formula in every worksheet. I tried using a new worksheet and naming it the same as what is referenced in vlookup table_array but it messed up all the data.
I have to use a different worksheet every month so need a way to change reference OR how to change array data without messing up the worksheets with the vlookup
This may have been answered on here but can not seem to find it. My situation is I have values in A1,A2 & A3 that are like counter reading so the value is always changing. What I am looking to do is change the cell color if one of the values is over 500 from the other two values. Say A1 is 3000, A2 is 3250 and A3 is 3500. I would like the cell for A3 to change color.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a set of four pivot tables on a sheet that I need to programmatically change a Report Filter (Page Field) so I can create sets of reports in an automated fashion. This will be the first step in that process. The change will involve choosing > 1 Role each time the code loops through based on Named Ranges I've defined that are associated with that Role.
My code thus far:
Code:
Sub TestCode()
Dim pt As PivotTable
Dim pf As PivotField
Dim pi As PivotItem
[Code]....
emm_dc_gsr is one of many Named Ranges that will contain a variable number of elements. Just using the one right now to see if I can get the code to work, I'll eventually make another Named Range/Array of all them so I can loop through each Report ("ReportPick").
I want the Report Filter to consult that Named Range for its values and apply those values to PivotField "Role" that is used as a Report Filter.
When running this code above, I get a "Role" Field that says "All" but no values (the table is completely blank), with no evidence as to why it'd be blank (all filters in every Report, Column and Row are working normally and are filled in). When I choose a value manually after the code is run, the pivot table values populate. Do I need to somehow index the Named Range in that loop? I'm just confused about this step right here:
For Each pi In pf.PivotItems
If pi.Value = RolePick Then
pi.Visible = True
Else: pi.Value = False
When I've run other versions of the code, I've gotten an array version of it to "work" using LBound and UBound, but it never chooses the right two values even though those are verified as stored in the array via a pass-through. It chooses the first few values in the Report Filter.
Here's the corresponding code for that:
For i = LBound(myArray) To UBound(myArray)
pf.PivotItems(i).Name = myArray(i, 1).Value
pf.PivotItems(i).Visible = True
Next
I do not care if I use an array or a Named Range. I just want something that is simple and works. Passing the values directly from the named range seems easiest to my brain, but I'm open to anything and I'm clearly missing something (probably silly).
I also have no idea why " .AutoSort xlManual, .SourceName, .EnableMultiplePageItems" is necessary though every piece of sample code I've seen seems to have some variation of it.
(Using Excel 2010, Windows 7.)
Below is my code which isn't formatting the cells it's suppossed to. It looks like it isn't doing anything. I think the issue might be with the highlighted section of my code, but when I go to "Manage" my rules for conditional formatting, excel references the appropriate cell under the "Applies to" section. I am using relative cell references for for the majority of the rest of the code and this section follows a section that selects the correct cell for this conditional format.
Code:
Selection.FormatConditions.Add Type:=xlExpression, Formula1:="=""ABS()>.005"""
Selection.FormatConditions(Selection.FormatConditions.Count).SetFirstPriority[code].....
The problem I am trying to solve is to have a cell return a cell value based on another linked cell. The cells I want to link are in separate tabs or could be another workbook.
For example if cell A5 in sheet2 is linked to A20 in sheet1...A5 has formula(=Sheet1!A20). I want the next cell B5 to look at A5 and return the value of cell Sheet1!D18.
So in essence I want the second cell to look at the first cell and return a value that is 3 columns over and 2 rows up.
way I can use relative cell address in VBA? For example, in the following table:
value item 1 apple item 2 peach item 3 mango
Instead of use
Range("B4").Value = "mango"
to insert mango to cell B4, I can use an address that's one row under peach, or one column to the right of item 3?
I'm importing comma delimited files into Excel. These files will contain formulas, but do not know on which row they will end up in once imported. My formula's need to reference the row they have been pasted to. For example, If I paste the formula on Row 2 the formula would be =A2+B2
Row 3 =A3+B3
However, since these formulas are coming in via a non-excel file, I need the cell reference to be dynamic. Something along the lines of =A#+B# where # would be interpreted by Excel as the current row the formula is on. (I know that '#' isn't correct.)
I have recorded macros in the attached file to highlight cells that contain matching initials by using conditional formatting on the first cell and copying it to the remaining cells. The problem is that if rows are inserted above that change the first cell reference then the macro no longer works properly. Is there a way to use a relative cell reference within the macro? The macro buttons are in cells A4 to A13. I have no VB experience and created the macros by recording keystrokes and using tips found in this forum.
