How To Format Selected Blank Cells To Display 0

View 2 RepliesI have created a Multipage Userform which I want to control the display when certain condition is met. I am using a button to call up this userform but I wanted to put some limitation to this form being displayed. This form will only be displayed when any of the cells in Column B Row 20 downwards or Column D Row 20 downwards are selected.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to display number of lines which depends on value pass by user. Actually user is passing some value. on which some group of lines has to be display.
eg
for 1 value 9 lines
for 2 value first 9 lines + another 9 lines
for 3 value first 18lines + 9 lines
and so on till 52.(this 9 lines are set of some column and rows)
thus cant use macros..
I have attached a spreadsheet that is causing me difficulty. I currently have a formula that is displaying in V3 the highest grade when it looks up the data in A3,H3 & O3. Then this is repeated for W3 when the data is looked up in B3, I3 & P3 etc etc... BUT
I need the formula to work if only block one is complete i.e. (1 Explore grade, 1 Plan Grade, 1 Make Grade etc).(please see the example to understand what is meant by a block)
The current formulae will only display a grade if all cells are complete i.e., A3,H3 & O3.
So I am looking for the formula to:
If A3 has a grade in it I wish V3 to display it because its the only grade. (even if H3 & O3 are blank)
As and when H3 has a grade filled in I want the formula to select the highest and display it in V3 (again even if O3 is blank)
As and when A3, H3 & O3 has a grade in it I wish the formula to lookup and display the highest in V3
Ans this repeated for all different areas, Explore, Plan, Make etc.

i've attached a pivot table where some cells are empty (see GCP tab). i want the empty cells to appear empty, and not as they currently appear, with the word "blank" in parentheses. i am aware that if i enter 2 spaces in any cell and press return, all empty cells in that column will also appear empty. is there any other way to have empty cells in a pivot table appear empty?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to conditionally format the top middle and bottom thirds of a range of data. Problem is, that the range needs to be flexible as sometimes there may be a maximum of 36 cells with data, but sometimes there may be less (so there are blank cells in the range that need not be counted). The methods I have tried always include the blank cells, and so it is not equally formatting the thirds (as it includes the blanks cells as part of the bottom data)....
Here are the 2 methods Ive tried so far using excel 2003)
Top 34%:
=IF(INT(COUNT($D$3:$D$38)*34%)>0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D
$38)*34%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D
$38)*67%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D
$38)*100%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))
I have a range of cells with numeric values or blanks. I set up a Conditional Formatting rule with this range selected: New Rule > Format only cells that contain > Format only cells with: Blanks; then I set the formatting to a light green fill and on the Number tab > Category = Custom > Type: "blank"
The blank fields get the light green fill, but no text; that is, the value displayed is still blank.
I go back to edit the CF rule and change Blanks to No Blanks. The results are what I expect: the cells with numbers display the text blank and have a green fill; the blank cells have no fill (white).
This is my testing criteria. I eventually want the empty cells to display 0 (zero). I tried setting Custom > Type: 0 (the number placeholder zero) and Type: "0" (literally the number zero), and neither works.
I have tried this with Format only cells with Cell Value equal to [the address of a blank cell].
I tried to set the value as "" but kept getting =""""; and ="" became ="=""" ???
I have tried this with Use a Formula... using the len()=0, isblank(), and other approaches, all with the same results.
I also made sure the option [x] Show a zero in cells that have a zero value is checked.
With all approaches to identifying the blank cells, they ARE obviously being recognized as blank values: the fill color is being applied to the right cells; and when Not Blank is the criterion (or a negation of a formula), the blank ones are not formatted. But blank cells will not display the text as defined in the Custom Formatting.
And this isn't an issue of "If the cell displays 'blank' it's no longer blank, so the rule doesn't apply" - HERE'S WHY: I set up a second CF rule that sets the Font to red when the value is greater than zero and had this CF rule follow the CF rule for No Blanks (the test above that works). Cells with positive numbers displayed blank in red, cells with zeros or negative numbers displayed blank in black. This clarified that the actual value of the cell is being evaluated, not the displayed value after Custom formatting is applied.
I have a problem where I need to answers from a look up table to return an empty cell if the vlookup table returns a 0 or #N/A. This has to be the case as the answers are used in the creation of a csv file.
It would be easier for me to put in conditional formatting rather rewriting 40+ formulas and copying them down 1000 rows.
Is there a method in vba to format cells to blank?
I use a variance sheet to see the difference in numbers between an actual and planned date
If a planned date is not entered - the calculation must calculate from the start of the year because the figures are like this:
38948
Is there a way of saying in the formula, if both parts of calculation are not present, leave blank or something
For example this formula =IF(C31 > B31, 1, -1)*DATEDIF(MIN(B31:C31),MAX(B31:C31),"D")
It has a planned date and no actual so it puts like a 5 digit number in the variance cell!
conditional formatting. I am using the code below to conditional format every Odd row with a background/border.
=MOD(ROW(),2)=1
I would like to know how to modify this, so that it only applies the format if the cell in column A on that specific row contain data and doesn't format blank cells.
I am using a conditional formula to compare if a cell in column A is higher than a cell in column B. If a cell is blank the cell is formatting. I am trying to highlight only cells with numbers. Any formula to place in the conditional format formula that will evaluate the cells excluding a blank cell?
ie: grapes and pears should be highlighted because value in column B is less than column A but the conditional format is highlighting apples also where apples should have no highlighting because the value in column B is none or blank.
A B
oranges 2.49 3.25
grapes 1.99 1.89
apples 1.00
pears 1.11 1.03
Excel 2004 for Mac
I'd like to give a conditional format to a range of cells so that only one cell in the range has a gray background. The condition must include three criteria:
1) The cell cannot be blank, AND
2) The cell's value must be the minimum in the range, AND
3) The cell's value must not equal any value preceding it in the range.
My own attempt looks like this for cell J8 in the range C8:AF8:
=AND(NOT(ISBLANK(J8)),J8=MIN($C8:$AF8),J8$C8:I8)
Problem: This condition works great for all values entered EXCEPT ZERO. When J8 is the first zero in the range, if it is preceded by a blank cell anywhere else in the range, it fails the third criterion (J8$C8:I8) because Excel treats the blank cell as though it's a zero. Result: no gray background.
How can I get Excel to "ignore" blank cells.
I know that I need to use Conditional Formatting, but I can't get the formula code correct.
This is what I need it to do:
If cell A2 is populated (not blank) AND cell B2 is blank, then cell B2 to be highlighted in bright red fill.
If cell A2 is populated (not blank) and cell B2 is also populated (not blank), then leave formatting as per normal
If cell A2 is blank then leave formatting as per normal
Basically, as soon as someone types anything into cell A2, cell B2 to turn red. Then once they have input something into cell B2, the red highlight can disappear. The inputs will be text, not numbers, so I can't use </>
I have tried varying circumstances of IFs, ANDs, NOTs, ISBLANKs etc and I can't crack
I would like to highlight (conditional format) the "response required by" (Row A) cells / dates if the "current date" (cell $B$2) is exceeded AND if the "response provided By" (Row B) remains BLANK:
Current Date
=Today()
Response Required By
Response Provided By
29-10-2013
23-10-2013
[Code] .......
How can I FILTER a range and display the unique items, one below the other, WITHOUT blank cells - with only a FORMULA. What I came up with is shown in the attached WB. I would like to present the countries like in C11:C15.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using this code to hide or unhide rows of text on another sheet:
VB:
Sub ProcessSheet1ChangeOnCellJ7(ByVal Target As Range)

'Get the address of the cell that changed without '$' signs
sAddress = Target.Address(False, False)

When the "Not Pursuing" list box option is selected (in cell "J7" or "J8" in Sheet 1) I need to add (or over-write) "Not Pursuing" to the range of cells in column "B" (in the "Tasks" sheet), but only for that particular Goal, meaning a limited range of cells in column "B". If the "Pursuing - Show All Tasks" option is selected for a Goal then these same cells need to be blank so that the appropriate person can enter their name into the cell.
The purpose for adding "Not Pursuing" automatically to these yellow highlighted cells is that it will facilitate filtering of tasks by individual in the "Tasks" sheet..
Again I have tried several times to upload a sample file and am unable to, which I know makes it more difficult to solve. (Is there some common mistake people make? I know it's an allowed format and is very small in file size....)
Code solution can be entered directly beneath:
VB:
If Target.Value = "Not Pursuing" Then
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("29:29").EntireRow.Hidden = False
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("30:48").EntireRow.Hidden = True
In an Excel user form, I want to display a checkbox only if the user selects another checkbox.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a number of pictures on sheet 1 that display names from cells in sheet 2
E.g.
Cell B1 in Sheet 2 has the value "Bob Jones"
Cell B2 in Sheet 2 has the value "Ian Jones"
In sheet 1 Picture1 has the formula =Sheet2!$B$1 so that the picture displays "Bob Jones"
Picture2 has the formula =Sheet2!$B$2 so that the picture displays "Ian Jones"
I have about 30 pictures displaying names in this way, but I want the name of the chosen picture to also appear in cell A1.
E.g. On sheet 1 user clicks on Picture 1 (Bob Jones), the name "Bob Jones" appeas in Cell A1
User clicks on Picture 2 (Ian Jones), the name "Ian Jones" appeas in Cell A1
My boss wants me to create a macro to hide columns if there is a "X" on top of the column labels. The macro should be in toggle mode whereby the next pressing of the macro will unhide the hidden column.
There are more than 50 columns in my actual worksheet. The macro has to check column by column whether there is "X" marked on top and hide it if so.
The next pressing of the macro should then unhide all the hidden columns.
I have a form control listbox, which is populated with filenames from a specific directory. When the user selects an entry I need that text to appear in a cell in the workbook. This is then concatenated with a folder path to open the file to copy and paste some data out into another workbook. I have tried...
Code:
Sub GetWrbkbkname()
Dim strlist As String
strlist = Sheet1.Listbox18.Text
Sheet1.Cells(1, 1) = strlist
End Sub
But receive the method or data member not found error. The cell link property just returns the position in the list! I need the text!!
The only workound I could think of was populating a space in the SS with the directory contents and using the cell link value in a choose function to return the selected workbook name.
I need to display a selected area in an excel sheet in a VB form! I am not sure how to convert the selected area to an image ! The area already contains some images! I am attaching the file for ur refrence!
I need the portion which is within the frame to be converted as an image and get displayed in a Vb form!
Im using code from website: http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal11.html
to display a combobox when I double click any cell that contains a validation list in it. I'm not great with VBA so I am having problems finding what each part of the code does. This is causing problems for another bit of code that I use to display a msgbox when certain values are selected from the list.
The MsgBox shows up great when I select an item from the validation list but does not work at all when I select the same item from the double-clicked combo box. It would be great if I could get the MsgBox to work both ways. This is the code that displays the MsgBox when target value is selected from list
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Select Case Target.AddressLocal(False, False)
Case Is = "B4", "B5", "B6", "B7", "B8", "B9", "B10", "B11", "B12"
If Target.Value = "H" Then
MsgBox "This is a pop for extra information. Savvy?", vbYesNo, "Yo!"
End If
End Select
End Sub...............
I attached a sample spreadsheet but I was wondering if there was a code that could display a range based on an option selected in a dropdown box.
excel help.xlsm
I may be making this more complicated than it needs to be but I can't seem to figure it out. The goal of this spreadsheet is for General Managers of a restaurant to give feedback about food deliveries. These deliveries usually come on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, but could for a list of reasons come on any day of the week. I want to automatically populate as much information as possible without requiring GMs to remember and enter dates.
A1 is =TODAY()
A2:A5 is a drop down where the GM selects the day of the week the delivery arrived. i.e. MON, TUE, WED, etc. I want the corresponding date of the past week to auto-populate in this cell (or even the adjacent cell if necessary) once the day is selected. For example, if today is 3/8/2014, when MON is selected in A2, I want the cell to automatically add "3/3/2014," making the entire cell read "MON 3/3/2014."
So if said GM is filling in this spreadsheet on a Saturday, and I want to display the date of the previous Monday, I need to find the day of the week of A1 (WEEKDAY function), and make A2 = A1-5.
If today is a Friday, it would be A2=A1-4, and so on for the 7 days of the week.
Then I would need to do all of this for if a Tuesday is selected in the drop down box, meaning IF(Saturday)Then A2=A1-4, etc...
I was trying to string together IF statements like this:
=IF(WEEKDAY(TODAY()=7),A1-5), IF(WEEKDAY(TODAY()=6),A1-4)
It works when I do only the first IF statement, but when I add another it returns #VALUE. I thought that excel would find the first true value and stop evaluating.
I want a table to display data based on which month i select from a drop-down list, the data is of course extracted from a different table. For example, in my final table( highlighted in yellow), i want to display the revenues, cost of goods sold..etc of April in this table when i choose April from the drop-down list, the data of the entire year is located in another table that i plan to hide, as we only need to review one month.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a short macro to remove highlighting from certain fields when data is entered. Here is the full
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Not Intersect(ActiveCell, Range("j18:j500")) Is Nothing Then
Sheets("Internal Transfers").Unprotect Password:=""
With Target.Interior
.ColorIndex = 0
.Pattern = xlSolid
End With
Sheets("Internal Transfers").Protect Password:=""
End If
End Sub
The highlighting only goes away if you hit the Enter key after entering data in the cell. If you use the tab key after entering data, or use the mouse to select a new cell, the highlighting change doesn't occur. I have a feeling this might simply be related to the way I'm invoking this event. I've not worked with the worksheet_change event before, but I've read through various explanations and descriptions of this event and it isn't clear to me what I need to do.
Ok so my named range looks like this:

However, I want to ignore the "" cells and the truly blank cells... However, I think all of them will have "" since I have this formula in all of the ones I'm putting in the range:

How do I go about getting these results into a named range so I can use it on validation since validation only seems to ignore truly blank cells and not the "" ones.
The two formulas below are used for splitting a cell reference in two after the "-"

I need to be able to add an extra formula to the above which will only display if the source cell of the reference is NOT "0000 - Extra Core Hours".
