I've got a worksheet_selectionchange macro on a sheet, and another macro that you can run after it. The issue is that when the second macro runs, it also runs the selectionchange macro, and wipes some of the info that the second macro should be copying.
Is there a piece of code that I can use in the second macro to block the selectionchance code from running until it's compelte?
I've been setting the above property to TRUE after making some changes in the Workbook_open event in order to stop annoying messages if you haven't physically made changes.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to copy through to the workbook_beforeclose event and I'm being asked if I want to save changes even though the macro made the changes and then set the property. Here's my code for the open event :-
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Application.ScreenUpdating = False On Error Resume Next For counter = Worksheets.Count To 2 Step -1 Sheets(counter).Visible = xlVeryHidden Next Sheets("Desktop").Visible = True Sheets(1).Visible = xlVeryHidden.....
I've tried to do conditional formatting for each of the "Discipline" values in this spreadsheet but it is restricted to only 3. Is there a way around this? I'm trying to setup a color code for the "Discipline" values for example RN=Red, LPN=Blue, Social Worker=Orange, Chaplain=Purple, STNA=Yellow, Volunteer=Pink & Other=Green. So when the "Discipline" cell/cells on each of the patient sheets (ie. "Doe, Jane", "Doe, John", etc.) is equal to say RN the cell would then turn Red either on the spreadsheet or only when sheet is printed.
Is it possible to detect when a auto-filter selection has been made ? Is that when an autofilter hides rows, the activecell could become hidden, which potentially may cause errant data entry, not knowing what cell is receiving entry as it is hidden from view.
if the worksheet contains a change event that autosizes the target row, it unhides the filtered hidden row in the process. I could say if target is hidden ignore autosize, but i would prefer to activate a visible cell (first visible cell for filtered column) on selection of autofilter.
I have a fairly straightforward UserForm with 4 listboxes and 4 option textboxes (the textboxes do not need to be a part of the validation I'm needing). I then have a command button that I want to be enabled ONLY if ANY of the 4 Listboxes have a selection. I've tried the "Change" event code below and it works upon the first selection of any listbox item.
However, if the user de-selects all selections in the listboxes (i.e. they are all unchecked), the command button remains enabled. I need the validation logic to enable/disable the button to persist as long as the user has the form open and if there is not a selection in ANY of the listboxes. The reason being is that if they click the command button it will update the cells in the worksheet, which if empty may overwrite previous work completed with blank cells.
I have a userform with a CheckBox and a ListBox. Is there a way to have the CheckBox to automatically get checked if a selection is made in the listbox?
List 1 (TV Brand) Sony LG Samsung Depended List 2 (Models) Sony LG Samsung EX420 55EB9600 PL43E450A1FXZP EX430 77EC9800 PL43E490B4FXZP EX550 55EA8800 PL43E400U1FXZP EX520 KN55S9C UN32EH5300FXZP EX645 55EA9800 PL64E8000GFXZP
I'm using two Listboxes (Form Control) with multiple selection options namely Listbox 1 (Brand) & Listbox 2 (Models). I want listbox 2 input range to be depended on selection made on Listbox 1 (Brand). For example, if user selects Sony then box2 should show only Sony's models and if user selects Sony & LG, box2 should show models for both Sony & LG.
my excel sheet runs through a lot of calculations, opens Flowmaster, a simulations program, passes on data, receivs data and so on. Is there any way to have a user input to stop the whole simulation. During the first tries I had a lot of break point in my debugger. But now I want to have a button to hit or better just some keys to hit to stop it without using the ctrl+alt+del which closes everything.
I seem to be lost in some macro-coding... I have this folder with pictures, and I want to display them as comments, by a macro. So far I have control. But then, if there is a picture that is missing, or if there is a cell that is empty in the selection, everything seems to stop.
the macro I use is very simple, but when everything is in place, its working:
Sub pics() For i = 3 To 50 PicName = "C:UsersEspenPicturesHus" & Cells(i, 1) & ".jpg" With Cells(i, 1).AddComment .Shape.Fill.UserPicture PicName .Shape.Height = 300 .Shape.Width = 400 End With Next i End Sub
Is it possible to make the macro run even if there are wholes, or if some pics are not store in the folder yet?
Is it possible to make the area "unlimited", as you see its now limited from 3 To 50.
And is it possible to make this run automatically, kind of checking the folder on its own to see if there is new pics?
how I can disable an InputBox? I've got some code that whenever someone selects a cell in a specified range, an input box pops up (running a macro) - this can get annoying sometimes though if just browsing. Does anyone know a macro where I can "disable" this?
I have a form with Option Buttons and once a selection has been made it opens the relevant sheet on the workbook but I can get it to open the relevant form to feed that worksheet once the selection has been made from the opening form. Is it possible to do this and if so dose anyone no the code.
I've set up code where when a cell within a specified range of cells is selected, a macro will run. This works all well and good except for when a whole row, column or range containing the defined cells is selected, there is a run time error. There is no situation where I want multiple cells selected to run the macro, so I only want to run the macro when only a single cell within that range is selected.
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) If Not Intersect(Target, Range("GoToRange")) Is Nothing Then Application.Run "'Macro Test Current MY PFEP Metrics.xls'!PFEP_Filter" End If
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("GoToRange2")) Is Nothing Then Application.Run "'Macro Test Current MY PFEP Metrics.xls'!PFEP_Filter" End If End Sub
Amongst the several sheets contained in my workbook, there is one called 'Inspection Report'. Users fill in whatever data is required in the other sheets, and once they get to this one, they are supposed to enter a number from 1 to 3 into Cell X1 (which is currently selected) before they select anything else. Unfortunately, I am currently unable to stop them from doing what they should not be doing.
So, I would like to have a notification of some sort pop up into their face if they click or move the selection anywhere else while Cell X1 is still empty. Something like a validation would be nice.
The intent of the code below is to run the marco HideCol when a change is made in cell C10. If I actually change the value in C10 it works. However, I have C10 linked to another worksheet (=anotherpage!A13). When the value changes, my macro is not executing.
Here is the code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim changed As Range Set changed = Range("C10") If Not Intersect(Target, changed) Is Nothing Then HideCol End If End Sub
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)
... to capture when a user is about to close a workbook. I then give them a message: "Are you sure you want to exit? Changes you made since you last saved will be lost."
However, to make it neater, is there a way to only trigger the macro if they have made changes since the last save? In other words, if they have not made any changes since the last save, the message will not be displayed, since it is irrelevant.
I have a warehouse of skids with multiple boxes of barcoded documents on each skid. The tab "Warehouse Inventory" has the range of barcodes in each box on a given skid (boxes are numbered, skids are lettered). Under the Search tab, I will be copying a list of barcodes into Column A, from another spreadsheet, and would like a macro, to autorun upon any changes made to the spreadsheet, that will do a VLOOKUP type search and reply back in Column B and C the skid letter and box number respectively
I created some excel 2003 spreadsheets to use for Fire/Police dispatchers. I have a series of yes/no option buttons that were created using the control toolbox. I have a macro that clears all the blanks where text is added, but want to add a line that clears the option buttons also.
i need to make a button that Immidiately stops all macro's, Or (and This will maby be little more difficult) Stop all macros on a specific time inserted in 1 cell
the macro's that i want to stop running, are all single macro's which i activate with only 1 button i created.
i like something like this:
if "A1"(this is the cell where i have my updated clock) == A2 (the time i insert here stops the macro's at this time) do stop Macro's
If you run it now, ctrl t, it produces letters and changes alphabets as it hits a yellow box. If i change or add a yellow box, the letters change fine. The macro works perfectly, but instead of inputting the range or K3 to what ever, i would like to to run this macro and stop once it sees the row with the sort number of 4. ( this changes row postion depending on which sheet im working on, this is the problem).
I have a spreadsheet containing a macro to automatically sum values from week to week and display the max/min and average. This is almost fully working. The problem I have is the macro copies the sum formula down the page and doesn't stop at the last row. It always adds one or two extra rows. The formula should stop at row 77 however this does not happen and therefore the sum keeps going. Which in turn, distorts the max/min figures.
I'm trying to create a macro to input information into a cell then repeat until the information stops.
So say I have 10 rows of information that fill up A1:D10. in E1:E10 I'd like a macro to insert some data into E1 then go to E2 and do the same until the end and then stop. So since A11:D11 would be blank the formula would just stop.
I actually work on 100's of cells a day and this is for a bigger project I'm trying to put together or I would just drag.
I have got he below code in "thisworkbook" it works fine but I have a problem with it if it has been closed before the time expires. If it is closed it tries to reopen it and then close it again. So for my users who have got their security set to prompts the file will be closed and a message box appears saying "enable or disable Macros". If it is already closed than i dont really want this to happen. My security is set to low but i still see it flash up and the bottom then dissappear again. How can i get the Macro to stop if it has already beed closed??
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Sheets("database").Select Range("au16").Select Application.OnTime Now + TimeValue("00:15:00"), "TimeOut" If ThisWorkbook.ReadOnly Then MsgBox ("The file is currently being used by another user, please contact them to ensure they have not left the file open.") ActiveWorkbook.Close SaveChanges:=False End If End Sub
Sub TimeOut() ThisWorkbook.Close SaveChanges:=True End Sub
I am running a macro that populates the same chart with variable data. I have approximately 40 sets of data and wish to pause or stop the macro to view one of the sets of data more closely. The pause option would be better but Stop option is acceptable
I have macros that often pause for the user to take some action -- for instance, to confirm that the correct cells are selected, or to delete something. Usually I use the "Stop" command, which opens the VBA editor; when I finish doing the manual action, I just resume the macro.
When writing macros for actual users, I'd like to do the same thing without their having to deal with the VBA window. Is there a way to pause and resume action and remain in the Excel window?
I did not want to bother you again but I have a problem that I can not solve it because my knowledge in vba etc, are limited and could not become to find with Macro Recorder.Usually I solve the problems on my own by searching on Google and experimenting with ready Macros and Macro Recorder.
I have an excel file with a macro and I want before this macro launched, to run another macro that can check if the headers have the correct name and in its correct position. The headers is in first Row.
If are not in the correct position or if it doesn't exist or if not have the correct name, then the process of the next macro be stopped and of course be informed that there is a problem. But if Is everything okay, then proceed to the next macro and be informed that Is everything okay.
I have attached a Sample file with the headers i'm using.
