# Multiple Date Ranges To Find Effective Rate?

Jun 18, 2014

My problem is trying to identify the applicable rate in a range of dates that are not consistent in every case. I have a number of orders that span 4 years. The rate charged has changed over time and therefore I'm trying to find what the applicable rate would be for that time frame. For example one of my orders was created on 2/27/2012 with a specific item, then again the same item was ordered on 9/10/2013 and I need to find what the rate should have been for both of those orders during those rate periods. I've attached a sample sheet with the 2 tables I've been trying to assess. I've tried using mulitple IF and VLOOKUP formula's but it doesn't work they way I need it to due to the inconsistency in Table 2. H

## Effective Rate Calculation, Interest Only Loan

Aug 27, 2008

I have a calculation I do that calculates a clients "effective interest rate" if they make extra payments towards principal.. Calculation works fine.. However, I am now trying to figure out how to amend that code if it's an interest only loan, anyone have any ideas?

Here is the effective rate calcs on a random normal amortization loan:

this is in B2, and answer is 7%
=RATE(B4*B5,-((B3+B7)/B6),B7)*12

B3 = Total*Interest 279017.8
B4 = #*Years*in*Loan 30
B5 = #*Payments*/*Year 12
B6 = Total*Payments 360
B7 = Beginning*Principal 200000
B8 - Ending*Balance 0
problem is when someone is on an interest only loan they pay more interest than a normal amortization because they are not reducing the principal in the first x number of years. So I need to compare the interest only effective rate to an interest only loan.

Here is the example I'm working on... A client's loan is the following:
Loan amount - 131,538
interest rate - 6.15
30 year amortization
10 years interest only

normal client would pay an interest only payment of 674.13, then after i/o period would go to 953.80 for last 20 years of the loan, and they'd pay about \$178k in interest.. Now if that client pays an extra 1,000 per year, I can calculate the amount of interest they'd accrue, but have no clue how to back into the "effective interest rate", basically that says you are paying the same amount of interest as someone with a x.xx% interest only loan.

## Effective Date For New Hires

Jul 16, 2007

I have Windows XP Professional 2002

I have not worked with dates other than calculating ages. Simple things.

My lastest formula I need is as follows:

Effective Date for Benefits to Start for New Hires

Date of Hire examples: either the first of a month -- 06/01/07 OR
06/??/07; example any date of the month other than the first

Benefits are effective the first of the month following 90 day waiting period.

Example: 06/01/07 = 09/01/07
06/05/07 = 10/01/07

## Select Latest Effective Record By Creation Date Field?

Apr 10, 2014

I have an excel file with the ID, Name, workID and Creation date fields. Some people have several work ID's created in different times. How can I select row that contain work ID's that were created the latest. I may have several records per person, I need only the latest record. File contains about 3000 records, I can't go through all of them.

## Creating Formula To Lookup Rate Using Ranges And Other Criteria?

Mar 26, 2013

I need to know if its possible, and if it is, what the formula would be to get the correct "Rate" to pull based on the criteria given:

User would input the following information:

Zip Code: 56559
Pallets: 3
Weight: 1200

The formula needs to use the following table to use the criteria listed above, to fine the correct "Rate". The "Zip Code" and "Weight" both need to fall between the correct ranges and then match the "Pallet" to find the correct "Rate".

## Date Between Multiple Non Contiguous Date Ranges On Another Sheet?

Nov 8, 2012

I have been looking at a post number 170404 which NBVC answered with an example grid. This was while I was trying to bring searched data through to another sheet and this is just what I was looking for as a brilliant start,

I have attached my very similar example in my scenario. I have also got NBVC's example on the first two sheets of this as reference. In addition I am also bringing through from-to date ranges which I then need to be applied to a Booking Sheet so I can see that these dates are booked for this person, and ideally where they are going and what they need to do there by colour.

I tried, just as a test in this example the following. Please note that this only had the three ranges as I was testing an example coordinator which returned three date ranges. It could be that the example returns 20 or 30 ranges that need to be applied to the rather primative Booking Sheet.

=IF(OR(AND(C10>='Coordinators list'!F5,'Coordinators list'!L5<=C10),(AND(C10>='Coordinators list'!F6,'Coordinators list'!L6<=C10)),(AND(C10>='Coordinators list'!F7,'Coordinators list'!L7<=C10))),"yes","no")

It seemed to give the right answer initially but trying different dates it gave the wrong result. It seemed to be checking one of the ranges and not all of them. As mentioned above this was just an example to see what I could get working but I don't think that this would be the ideal way of doing this as it would need to check 30-40 maybe more ranges depending on what comes back from the coordinator search.

The aim would be to choose a co-ordinator on the Site Planner sheet and ideally return the city rather than the yes/no in the Booking Sheet for that date and use conditional formatting so that if the type from the Site Planner Sheet was paint it would fill in one colour, clean in another, etc.

Was hopefully trying to get this done without using any VB as I am trying to resolve this for my Wife she isn't very tech savvy and and I need to be able to explain the formulas!

I'm sure you will see from my sheet I have given this a good go but I am a bit unsure on what some of the formulas on NBVC sheet are doing, and that this is my first attempt at doing anything like this. I have also tried using lookup and match but I'm still having issues that they either aren't always in date order and it seems to return no if it doesn't match the first range. The other main issue that I have seen is that I need to check whatever ranges the selection comes back with rather than adding each one to search through.

I hope this becomes a bit clearer on the sheet I have attached,

## Using VLookup To Lookup Date Within Multiple Date Ranges

Jan 5, 2012

I have a table with three columns. I'm building a calendar on a separate worksheet and am looking up the "value" based on a calendar date. So if a date falls within any of the ranges, I'd like to return the value in column C. For example, if the date is 02/07/12, I'd like for the result to be value 1, or if the date is 04/17/12, then I would like the result to be value 3. I've used a nested vlookup, but all that give me is the value when either the start or end dates match, but I can't get a value when the date falls within the range. If the dates were consecutive, I would simply use vlookup/TRUE, but the dates are not consecutive.

ABC102/06/1202/09/12value 1203/12/1203/15/12value 2304/16/1204/19/12value 3405/21/1205/24/12value 4506/25/1206/28/12value 5606/25/1206/28/12value 6

## Find The Largest Number In Multiple Ranges?

Jun 7, 2013

I have huge sorting job in Excel.I have a excel file from each year.And I put these together to a huge excel file. And I need to track down the last activity if the customer is listed multiple times.I could just go through and delete the rows, but the last row.But, that takes a lot of time.

Format:
Last activity (year only) - Customer number - Customer name

2010 - 1001 - Company A
2011 - 1001 - Company A
2012 - 1001 - Company A

## If Function With Multiple Date Ranges?

Mar 15, 2012

I would like to utilize the IF function to show the following:

If the date in cell J11 is before April 30, J19 will show J18 * .01, if the date in cell J11 is between May 1 and May 30, J10 will show J18 * .02, and if the date in cell J11 is between June 1 and June 30, J10 will show J18 * .03.

## VLookup Using Date Ranges And Multiple Tables

Sep 23, 2013

I have a spreadsheet that records the date, specific sporting activities and cash award for participation in a round robin sporting event that was held over 52 weekends. I'm trying to lookup the cash award value of each event the person participated in by using a date range within the vlookup formula.

Each participant has their own spreadsheet which they are able to access via server, and each spreadsheet looks a bit like this:

-Column A contains the date of an event in which the person participated
-Column B contains a category number related to the type of event eg marathon = 12, hurdles = 15, relay = 18 etc. This info is manual input
-Column C contains the amount the person will be awarded by simply participating in the event. This is a lookup value and varies depending on the date the person participated, so I'm trying to incorporate date ranges and 'if' formulas into the vlookup

I'm from Australia so my dates might be backwards...

A B C
1 02/01/13 15 (supposed to be \$10)

The formula should read a bit like this:

if (date at A1 is within date range 1st Jan 2013 and 31st March 2013, lookup B1 in table 1 column 2), if (date at A1 is within 1st Apr 2013 and 30th Jun 2013, lookup B1 in table 2 column 2)...etc for each quarter

I don't know if the following is right

=IF(AND(A1>='01/01/2013'+0,A1='04/01/2013'+0,A1

## SUM (count) - Multiple Criteria Including Date Ranges

Oct 23, 2009

My setup is - excel 2003 sp3 / windows xp

On one sheet (Data) I have a list of action items, each with owner; target date; classification and in some cases revised target date. I'm trying to report on these fields and provide a status, by owner and classification, of how many are overdue; due this month; due next month; due beyond 2mths.

Using a SUM array formula on another sheet I can count the number that are overdue based on date; owner; classification; and target date, but can't find a solution if there is a revised target date. Any guidance you can give would be greatly received.

=SUM((Data!\$L\$3:\$L\$27=D\$18)*(Data!\$P\$3:\$P\$27=\$C23)*(Data!\$N\$3:\$N\$27

## Dropdown Selection Of Months To Autofill Out Date Ranges In Multiple Cells

Sep 20, 2013

I am currently trying to make a digital time card for my place of employment. I has an odd set up and odd date ranges. The pay period starts on the 21st of each month and ends on the 20th of the next month.

The time cards have 5 columns for each week starting on Mondays going to Sunday (also weird its not Saturday to Sunday) What I was hoping to accomplish was being able to select the starting month of your choice for pay period and have multiple cells update the week date range.

## Find The Commission Rate Per Worker Using Lookup Functions

Dec 24, 2005

I have a sheet listing comission rate eg. sales less than \$200, the rate is
..5%, less than 300, the rate is 1%..etc.

Then i have another table showing different sales value of different workers. How do i find the commission rate per worker using lookup functions??

## Compound Rate: Annual Growth Rate %

Jun 4, 2007

The formula I am looking for would tell me what annual growth rate % I would need to achieve to make any investment reach a set target, for instance, what % of fixed annual growth would I need to make 200K grow to 750k in say 10 yrs or any time scale. I was given the formula below but Excel tells me it's wrong, I have tried putting 10 before ^ and the 10 after but to no avail, could some kind soul please put me straight.

r = 100((Y/X)^(1/n))-1)

So for X = 200, Y = 750, n = 10, we have

r = 100((750/200)^(0.1))-1) = 14.1309%

## Two Columns - Lookup Rate Corresponding To Specific Date

Jan 30, 2012

I have 2 cols of dates; col1 effective from, col2 effective to. In col c i have a list of corresponding rates. How can i look up the rate corresponding to a specific date. I've tried lookups and matching formulas but not working.

## Calculate Effective Time

Jan 4, 2007

I have a sheet for tracking my poker playing online.

In column A I enter the start time as an Excel Dates & Times and in column B I enter the end time in the same format.

It could look something like this:

Start time End time
2007-01-03 18:20 2007-01-03 18:50
2007-01-03 18:30 2007-01-03 18:45

(Swedish date formatting)

This means I have been playing two tables simultaneously. Now I could get total time in "table hours" using SUM Formula:

=SUM(B:B)-SUM(A:A)

which in this case would result in 45 minutes.

But I also would like to calculate effective playing time so if I play 10 minutes on two tables simultaneously it will only count as 10 minutes and not 20 minutes.

## How To Calculate Trend Line Growth Rate (as Annual Percentage Growth Rate)

## Finding Effective Solution For Updating Links

Apr 4, 2006

I've got a workbook in which there're many formulas linking to other workbooks. Coz these other workbooks are frequently updated, so the calculation (update) in my workbook is painfully slow and time consuming. I wanna improve this, maybe by VBA or other way instead of using link like this. Anyone can give me some hints or way how to improve this condition???

## Find Out Oldest Date Using Multiple Criteria

Dec 24, 2012

I want to know the macro code to find out the oldest date in the Calculation sheet of the attachment based on two criteria.

The criteria should be if the Item ID on Calculation sheet matches the Item Id Pivot sheet and then if the Status on pivot sheet and calculation sheet matches then the macro should find out the oldest date for each item ID. And once the oldest date is identified the difference on pivot sheet should be added to the cost basis column on calculation sheet to the already found oldest date lot.

## Date Range: Reference A Single Date And Output Date Ranges

Oct 11, 2008

I need to create formulas that reference a single date and output date ranges. The objective is to have a person input a Monday date in any given month and receive a four weeks out worth of dates and ranges. For example: In a lone cell, the person inputs 10/13/08. Automatically, the sheet produces the next full week range: October 19 – October 25 in a single cell and also produces a cell for each date. Example: Sunday 19, Monday 20, Tuesday 21, etc…. It should look like:

Monday Date:
10/13/08
October 19 – October 25
Sunday 19
Monday 20
Tuesday 21
Wednesday 22
Thursday 23
Friday 24
Saturday 25

and then repeat for three more weeks. I thought I had it figured out until the month changed. The dates continued in October instead of adding a month. This report will be ran weekly, so simply adding a +1MONTH to some cells will not benefit me as I’ll have to change the formula every week. I want the formula to compute the data without any manipulation over the next several years. The only change will be the Monday date.

## Find Value Matching Multiple Text Criteria And Max Date

Jun 7, 2009

I have the following dataset:

[Date] [Category] [Currency] [ExchangeRate] [.....], etc.
1-3-09 A USD 0,8
1-6-09 A EUR 1
1-7-09 A USD 0,7
1-8-09 B USD 0,9
1-9-09 B USD <formula>

I'd like to have the value of <formula> looked up in older records. Currency and category should match and it should pick the exchange rate with the maximum date.

Which formula and what syntax should I use to have this done?

I use Excel 2007.

## How To Compare Multiple Values Including TIME And Compare Rate

Feb 21, 2014

Basically I have two sets of data. One will be new each week. I'd like to use the non-changing data as a base to compare new data to. The formula would need to match multiple values, including a 'time between', and then return whether a minimum rate has been met.

## Lookup Or If Function: Find The Room Nights And Net Room Revenue Values For The Specific Rate Code In The "MATRIX" Workbook

Apr 7, 2009

I am having a bit of a problem creating a formula for this report that I have to update every week. I need to be able to find the room nights and net room revenue values for the specific rate code in the "MATRIX" workbook.

On "CURRENT REPORT," I need D4 to pull up the value on "MATRIX" that equals "Room Nights" in column H and "CONABC" in column J. The same thing needs to happen for F4 but with "Net Room Revenue" in column H. The full report has about 500 of these codes in column J, and I need a formula that I can copy easily and will not be affected if codes are added or removed. This is super last minute - I need to finish this report by tomorrow morning, so take a look at the attachments.

## Copy Multiple Ranges From Multiple Sheets And Paste In Order Via VBA

Apr 21, 2013

I've got several worksheets that all have the exact same layout that a user will enter unique information in to each worksheet. Then I've got a final worksheet that I want to have a button that the user can click and when they do, it will look to each worksheet and do the exact same process for each worksheet as follows:

It first looks to see if the worksheet is visible. If it is, I want it to copy the range A5 to K5 down until it gets to the last non-blank cell in column C. The first non blank cell that will be referenced will be C7. Then I want it to paste this information into the range A5:K5 on the final sheet named Sheet8 with the same values and keep cell formatting such as width and height, font. If the worksheet is not visible, it skips the sheet.

I want it to do this for each visible worksheet, placing the next visible worksheet info under the previous visible worksheet info. My current code as shown doesn't do that. It requires that something be inSheet8 A6 before it will even paste, then it pastes the info from A5:K5 but it doesn't do just the values nor does it keep the formatting. What I mean about not doing just the values is some of the info that needs to be copied comes from a drop down they can choose from and it copies the actual drop down menu. Also, it seems to copy all of the ranges from each sheet and paste it into just A5:K5 on Sheet8 and overwrites each other instead of pasting Sheet2 just below the information from Sheet1. So the only information shown after the entire process is completed is the information from the last visible sheet.

If Worksheets("Sheet1").Visible = True Then
Sheets("Sheet1").Range(Sheets("Sheet1").Range("A5:K5"),
Sheets("Sheet1").Range("C7").End(xlDown)).Copy
Sheets("Sheet8").Range("A5").End(xlDown)
End If

## Print Multiple Ranges From Multiple Sheets Userform

Jun 16, 2007

I inherited a spreadsheet that had an userform where the user checked off which 'pages' he wanted to print. The Ok button routine used if statements to run a routine for each 'page.' Here's an example of the original code for one page:

Sub Button2_Click()
Sheet7.Activate
Run "HorizontalPrintStuff" 'generic landscape pagesetup
With ActiveSheet.PageSetup 'specific pageset settings
.RightFooter = " Construction Assumptions"
.PrintArea = "CONSTRUCTION" 'the named range to print
.Zoom = False
.FitToPagesTall = 1
.FitToPagesWide = 1 'this changes depending upon the page selected
End With
ActiveSheet.PrintOut
End Sub

The problem was it printed each page as a separate print job; and if you print to adobe, you get serveral files, not one file. That and it took a long time to run.

So I tried a different tack. If the checkboxes has true, then the printarea is set to that named range. If there were more than one named range on a sheet to be printed, I consolidated them. I did this with a bunch of if statements - very cumbersome.

Sheet3.Activate
'Sheet3.ResetAllPageBreaks 'disabled due to errors
Run "HorizontalPrintStuff" 'generic landscape pagesetup
With ActiveSheet.PageSetup 'specific pageset settings
.PrintArea = "DEVBGTALL" 'the named range to print
.FitToPagesWide = 4 'this changes depending upon the
.FitToPagesTall = 1
End With

I haven't shown all the code cause it goes on for 12 sheets containing 16 different printareas.

My current muck ups are .....

1) it prints every printarea/named range on a given sheet (I took out all the if statements trying to debug everything.) Is there another conditional argument that allows for multiple 'trues'?

2) the pagebreaks in printarea/named ranges that are multiple pages (like a 48 month schedule) won't stay set. I've tried both VPageBreaks(3).Location:= and .VPageBreaks.Add Before:=

3) the Sheet1.select false argument is always adding a random sheet to the end of the print job. Don't know why.

I can do all this in a recorded macro, just not the selection userform. I've thought about copying to another sheet or hiding columns and rows then printing, but that seems just as cumbersome.

To recap, i want to print out, as one print job, multiple printareas from mulitple sheets, based upon checkbox selection on an userform.

## Track Changes On Multiple Selected Ranges On Multiple Sheets

Jul 6, 2007

I need to be able to track changes on selected ranges on multiple sheets, but Excel does not appear to be able to do this. It only appears to allow me to select multiple ranges on the same sheet.

is there a way to track changes on multiple selected ranges on multiple sheets

## Multiple Parameter Lookup For Multiple Table Ranges

Jun 15, 2008

In the attached file i have multiple tables for different types of conservatory roofs (16 of them in total). The ranges at the top and side relate to milimeter measurements and the data in the middle relate to the price for that sized conservatory roof. The table works where the two ranges intercept each other. I have a formula to do this for one of the tables only. What i would like is a way of choosing which type of roof to use (i.e. which table to use) and then to be able to input the measurements and the price to be displayed. All of this needs to be done in one query so its as user friendly as possible. i've had is to use a pivot table, i feel it is not possible to use a pivot table to do this sort if thing after research into them, although i am un-familiar in the making of them

## Find Ranges Between 2 Columns

Nov 29, 2008

I have a 3 column table that goes:

FROM: /// TO: /// Value
0 /// 25,000 /// x
25,001 /// 50,000 /// y
50,001 /// 75,000 /// z

etc etc.

I then have another table ( 2 columns) with the first column being inputed values from another worksheet. This inputted number will fall between one of the ranges. The second column needs to have the appropriate VALUE from the above, 3 column table.

How do I go about making a Vlookup that can find ranges between 2 columns?
So if I have a value of 30,000, it will return "y".
