1.I need to protect certain locked cells from editing and allow certain unlocked cells to be changed on multiple worksheets.

2.When all of the changes are made to the unlocked cells, I need to password protect the entire workbook (except one worksheet) from any changes. (i.e. Prevent even the unlocked cells from being edited)

3.I also need a password to un-protect the workbook and return it to the state described in # 1. above .

How To Protect Cells/columns In Multiple Sheets In A Workbook

I'm trying to protect the contents of columns in multiple sheets in a workbook. I've tried to group the columns ( - months, i.e. sept, oct, nov 09 through to march 10) but when I go to Protection options the 'sheet' protection option is not available, all I can do is protect or unprotect the entire workbook.

I've also tried to protect the workbook, but individually set the specific columns in each sheet to be protected (repetitious but seemingly unavoidable), but this doesn't work well either as there's now a mix of a protected workbook and protected columns, both with individually set passwords to unprotect... which seems a bit silly.

There must be a way around this? - the columns are H, J, K and L, and the entire contents of the summary sheet '2009-10 Financial Year'... basically I'd like to be able to protect all of the contents of all of the cells here, ideally just with one password.

I have a worksheet entitled 'Data'. In this worksheet there is a table consisting of 4 columns plus relevant data:

I have been trying to create a formula that will enable me to pull data from the 'benefit' column(column D) so that the cell contents populate in a single cell in a table in a different worksheet.

TABLE 2:

Financial - Delivered
Financial - Enabled
Tech - Delivered
Tech - Enabled
Green - Delivered
Green - Enabled

So, as an example, I am hoping that a formula can be created which pulls the text from relevant cells in column D when criteria from columns A, B and C are met e.g. Tech benefits that are Delivered in PJ2 would populate cell E3 ('Tech -Enabled') in Table 2 with:

Continued maintenance of hardware.

Increased capacity.

Lock/Protect Single Module

I have a workbook(1), contains a worksheet that once filled with user entered parameters, generates data through a VBA module (macro). This module(1) is a proprietary algorithm, and the author has locked the VBA project to protect the module from being tampered with/modified (and rightly so).

I take this data and use it as input in my own algorithms to generate more data. By locking "VBA project" in that workbook(1), I can't see anyway to add my own module(2) to that particular workbook(1). I can create another workbook(2), and write a module(2) there that reads the data from the first workbook(1), but then I'm left with TWO workbooks to do a single task, both have to be opened, and its just not a very elegant way of doing things.

I've contacted the author of the proprietary module(1), and he has no problem modifying the lock protection in the workbook(1) so that only his module(1) is locked, but VBA is not really his forte, and he doesn't know how to do it, or if it is even possible. I've checked many Excel Help facilities, and could not find an answer.

1. Is there any way to lock a SINGLE VBA module within a workbook?

2. Also, is there only ONE VBA project allowed per workbook? If I could add an unprotected VBA project, I could add my own module.

I may not be understanding the entire VB architecture properly, I'm using manuals from 1993, and On-line MS Help is not that "help"ful, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Mainly I just want to find out if this is possible or if its not, in which case I'll be forced to work around it in a inelegant fashion. It just seems logical that you should be able to lock just one module.

Protect / UnProtect All Workbooks With A Single Button Through VBA

I am having some 60+ workbooks in which the end-users are entering data. Each workbook is protected with different passwords.

We have the systems networked. The main compilation file is in the server D:MAIN folder. The workbooks for users are in D:Mainusers sub-folder. The files in users folder are only allowed to have access by the users.

Now, in the compilation sheet I have linked the data from all the individual files (which is in its subfolder). I am facing a trouble that the excel asks password for each and every workbook to update the links in the compilation workbook.

Any possibility to overcome this trouble? A VBA code is the solution? or any other alternative measure is there to solve?

Linking Single Cell To Multiple Cells?

I have values on master sheet and want to link those values to source documents in the same workbook. But the values on master sheets are made up of more than one value on another sheet.

For example on master sheet I have $137,000 that is made up of values in P7 + Q7 + P57 + Q57 on source sheet. If user wants to see where this number is coming from; the user will click the number to go to source document.

On a single valve I linked to the source sheet to a single cell. One thing I was thinking, using conditional format, so if one of the cells is selected in source document the other cells that combine the total of the master sheet cells should be highlighted, just my 2 cents.

I'd like to apply multiple formula to a set of cells on a summary page. My summary page also contains 3 variable dropdowns, and I'd like to display data based on the text selected in those dropdowns (pulling data from 2nd tab "Variables")

The following formula works in the first instance:

=IF(AND(H4="Product Type A1", H6="External", H8="Existing"), Variables!C4, 0)

What I'm struggling to do is add additional formula to the same cell in order to deal with the remaining eventualities of the drop down variables:

Variable 1:
Product Type A1
Product Type A2
Product Type B1
Product Type B2

Variable 2:
Internal
External

Variable 3:
Existing
New

Or am I better using a VLOOKUP or something?

Referencing Multiple Cells From Inside A Single Cell

I have 4 cells with simple data in them. In another cell, I would like to make a phrase and include all the data from the 4 cells in that phrase.

Example:

="Jackpot: &G2 (&G1) / &G3 = &G4 each"

I already tried this:

="Jackpot: "&G2" ("&G1") / "&G3" = "&G4" each"

Am I missing something? I'm pretty sure this is doable, I just don't know what's missing.

I have 5 columns of data where each column of data has two number in it separate by a space where the headers for each column is c1, c2, c3, c4 and c5. for example

where each of these number pairs is under a separate column. The preview option for this forum editor is showing quite a difference between intended presentation and actual..

What I am looking to do is for each line item is to put the content of each row into a single cell with vertical alignment of the pairs of numbers. for example

where each group of five pairs is in a single cell.

I am looking to do this in as automated an approach as possible. I dont want to have to ctrl-enter for example 4 times for each cell in c6 for 1000 different line items..

Here's the history...

I have multiple part numbers in single cells in column A. I perform a text-to-columns function. The resulting part numbers spread across multiple columns (say, B through K). Now I need to get all the part numbers, in their own cells, stacked in column A for one continuous list of single cell part numbers.

Is there a VBA option for cutting only the data cells from Column B-K and pasting the data at the bottom of column A while avioding blank cells?

I have one row per day of the month in column A. each row has one or more cell entries in column B .... to column (variable) Right now I use a formula =concatenate(B2,CHAR(10),C2,CHAR(10),D2.....) for as long as it has to be, but this has its limits and requires a lot of editing as the number of filled cells for each row vary.

would it be possible with some macro code to manage the variable number of cells and then insert verything, wrapped text, in a single cell (can be cell Bx or a cell in a new column added next to the dates column) As soon as everything is in the single cell, the original data cells can be emtied. I can record a macro but that does not allow me to manage the variable number of cells . a small sample file attached.

For A Column Of Cells Separate Text In Single Cell Across Multiple Columns

New task for work today, which involves creating a spreadsheet for all existing members of an organization. I went to the organization's website and copied all of the names & info, then pasted into a blank spreadsheet. All of the entries were separated into their own rows, but all of the information is only in one column. Take a look at my sample:

(NOTE: does not contain actual names or info) Book1.xlsx

This sample only contains 5 entries, but my actual list contains about 200; if it had just been the 5, I would have been fine with manually separating the information, but for 200 entries I need something much faster. You'll notice in the sample that the company, person, address, phone number, email, and website (when there) are not separated by anything. I know that using Text-to-Columns, I would technically be able to achieve what I need using the Delimited option, but I can't imagine this working without separators. I thought perhaps there might be a way to separate them based off font changes or something? Or maybe some way that I can insert a semi-colon or some kind of separator between the necessary data?

While the font is Arial for the majority of the entries, in terms of font changes: company font size is 12 and color is navy blue; the person's name is size 18, bolded, and dark grey; the address & phone number are size 9 and the color is light gray; and finally, the email & website are also size 9, but navy blue in color. However, you'll notice that two of the five entries are formatted differently. This is because formerly, the entire cell & its text were a hyperlink to the email. I went ahead and removed these hyperlinks, simply using a "Remove Hyperlink" macro walk through I found on the web, but now these cells are uniformly set to Calibri and size 11, my default font setting.

I need to get that list of numbers listed out to the right, with one number per cell. The list in column one could possibly contain from 1 to 20 numbers, and the last number is always without the comma after it.

Now the problem, Each client has a sheet in a workbook. In each sheet, I input the number of days of service available to that particular client in a single cell. We'll say cell [G8] is the cell used for this input in all sheets. If the client has 30 days of service available then we type [30] in cell [G8]. Each sheet is a 100 day template. I want to shade in dark grey and lock from input the days NOT available to the client based on the days of service input in cell [G8]. If 30 days of service are available in cell [G8] then the remaining 70 days on the 100 day template would be shaded dark grey and locked from input. That is, day 31 through day 100 of the template would be locked and shaded. Each individual day has multiple cells in a column. I want to lock and shade each column of cells in each day not available.

I have a Dynamic Named Range "Data" spanning 10 Columns and many Rows.
Each Row may contain duplicates of the Numeric Criterion.

I would like to find ALL instances of a specific Numeric Criterion across
each single Row in the Dynamic Range "Data" and have the Results returned to
a New Sheet in a single column.

NEW Sheet:
The Numeric Criterion is housed in G5.
The matched criterion should be returned to the New Sheet starting at G7.
Duplicate instances in the same Row should ALL be returned to the same cell
in Column G on the New Sheet.

Sample Data Layout:
Columns I J K L M N O P Q R

returned to the same cell G7.

Copy Common Cells And Variable Range From Multiple Worksheets To Single Master Workbook

Basically, i have a common workbook template that is used by multiple users across the business to request a cost for numerous new products.

Within the template, there is a common section at the top, where specific project information is entered. There is also a table beneath where 1 or many products can be entered, with specific information relating to that product in the same row.

All the submitted requests are uploaded via an email attachment, to a particular sharepoint directory.

What i would like to do in the master workbook is the following:-

1. Open in turn every uploaded workbook within the sharepoint directory and copy the following cells into the master workbook, each in it's own row (or next available), with the data in adjacent cells.... 1st cell to enter data is $B6.

Cells to copy from each sheet:

Common info contained within cells:
$DG$2,$N$11,$N$12,$N$19,$N$13,$AO$7,$AO$8,$AO$9,$AO$10,$AO$11,$AO$12,$AO$12,$AO$13,$AO$14,$BO$8,$BO$11,$BO$14

Product specific info: $U37, $AD37, $AH37, $DH37, $C37, $O37

Depending on the number of products requested, we need to repeat (loop?) until it finds the next blank row in the table. I have hidden a blank row in the table, so there will always be one!

All of the common information needs to be included for each product specific entry.

For each file, once the upload has been completed, i would like the file to be moved to another "archive" directory.

I have attached the template for information. The master workbook is still in development so can't share currently.

Also, since they are all identicle, is there a way to spell check them all at once? I am currently making changes individually and it is taking a long time. I have to unprotect, spell check, protect and repeat.

How to protect multiple sheets in a workbook and not having to protect them 1 by 1. I have copied and pasted all the different macro's/visual basic script that has been posted for that purpose, but I can't get it to work and I'm always getting an error. The error from visual basic says "compile error: invalid outside procedure" and then the visual basic screen shows the following:

Range ("AM52")
If Ans >= 0 Then
"+."

It does not like the "AM52" part because it is highlighted in the error message.

Also, the error I get from recording my own macro step by step is "Run time error 40036" from visual basic.
