I currently have a profit/loss spreadsheet where I use a SUMIF to calculate daily gains/losses.
=SUMIF('Daily Sheet'!B:B,B377,'Daily Sheet'!H:H)
Basically, on the 'Daily Sheet' page when a sale is made I write it in a row. Each sale gets its own row. One of the column's has the date. (Column B) Column H has the respective gain or loss for that sale/purchase. B377 in this case contains the date 18-Nov. (B360 to B389 has Nov 1 through Nov 30) So this cell will calculate all the gains and losses in column H for each sale/purchase entry I have for that day. Some days I have 30 rows, others only 2 or 3, so this works great.
My problem now is that my rows have gotten much more complicated and detailed, and now I'd like to be able to only sum column H:H if it meets TWO criteria. (I'd like to add in Column C that specifies the type of sale or purchase being made, which is R, T or S for my purposes.) So I'd like to somehow write a sumif that only adds up the sales for 18-Nov AND sale type R.
I was hoping that someone might be able to help me with a current problem that I am facing in my work center. Periodically we have personnel check-in on given day and then later check-out on a specified day. Is it possible to graph/predict/forecast our personnel losses in our department using a chart in excel? Or at least be able to know how many people we will be losing on any week...?
I have attached a sample worksheet of data with columns labeled Name, Gains, Losses.
Columns explained:
1) Name: Name of Incoming Personnel 2) Gains: Date that Personnel Arrived/Checked In 3) Losses: Date that Personnel will Check out
I have a sheet with thousands of accounts that shows me revenue for each account monthly. I would like to build a column or even better a pivot table that shows me what the difference is per account per month so I can sort and see where the biggest losses/gains are month over month.
Some years ago I came across a formulae to calculate Daily Interest on a Building Society Savings account in the UK. I have used this since but find my calculations never work out the same as my BS, although to my advantage! It is =B3*B4/360*DAYS360(B5,B6,TRUE) Where:
B3=Capital B4=Interest Rate B5=Starting Date B6=Finishing Date
For some reason the formulae uses 360/year and not 365/year. Using both still gives wrong answer.
I'm working on a time series dataset with a time step of 15 minutes. I need to calculate daily average of the several variables. So let column "A" be the "date-time" column, let column "B" be the "variable column" and column "C" be the "average column", I need a function that calculated in C1 cell the average of B1 to B95 cells, in C2 cell the average of B96 to B190 cells, in C3 cell the average of B191 to B285 etc.
calculate overtime hours from daily time entries. Normal hours are 7.6 per day Time 1/2 is hours over 7.6 but no more than 2 hours Double Time is all hours over that.
I have the spreadsheet with the days of the week in one row and at the end I have 1 cell for Normal Hours, Time 1/2 and Double Time. I need a formula that will work out overtime off each day and add for all days of the week and enter data into one cell. So all normal hours are in Normal hours and Time 1/2 and Double time are automatically calculated once hours are put in per day manually.

I have a set of 7 years daily rainfall data. I need to calculate the daily average of rainfall from this 7 years data set. I don't wanted to calculate it by for example copying and pasting the first day rainfall of each year rainfall to a new sheet and average it for all the days. I need to calculate it all at a time.
I've set up a simple spreadsheet to keep track of my food expenses every month. The first column is for the date, the second is for the daily total expenses and then the next three columns are where I add the data which is then calculated into the daily total column.
I also have a total at the bottom for the entire month. Now what I want to do is I want to also have underneath the grand total, a cell which keeps track of my average daily expenses. Basically I want to divide the total expenses by the number of days which I've entered data. Now normally this would be fine but because I've applied the formula to all the cells in the expense column, it automatically lists every day as "0" rather than leaving it blank. So when it does the average calculation it's dividing my total by 30 days rather than by only the 7 days I have data for.
I'm creating an log to track the total number of hours an employee works in one day and calculate regular and overtime hours worked based on the following criteria: overtime will be >8 hours in one day and >40 hours in one week.
Right now I have it 'mostly' figured out, but under certain conditions, it calculates more than 8 hours in one day for straight time. Is there a way to set a maximum value for the straight time cell and have the difference be added to the overtime cell?
I've daily data of a stock indices returns and I would like to calculate the monthly standard deviation. Currently, I'm using the following worksheet functions: =STDEVP(C2:C20)*SQRT(COUNT(C2:C20))
However, the range changes from month to month, which makes the process of calculating the monthly standard deviation to be quite tedious if I've about 10 years worth of data. I assume I could somehow substitute the range with a dynamic range, but I'm struggling to come up with the correct formulation that would do that.

I am stuck on a database that is becoming a lot more complex and confusing every time i open it. As of right now i am going to take it one step at a time. I have 2 columns. Column A is "Machine", Column B is "Loss" From there, there is a list of machines and their losses for a given month. Each month has its own report of machines and losses. Some machines may be on the first report. And possibly no losses in the second month making in absent on the second report. What i am trying to set up a formula or macro to automatically updated a TOTAL list, that will automatically list every machine that has ever been on any of these reports, and keeping the highest loss for that machine. For example if machine Z had a loss of $100 in the first report, and a loss of $500 in the second report, then the TOTAL list would have machine Z at a loss of $500. What i have been thinking is a macro that takes both reports and combines them, then grouping the duplicate rows of machines together and somehow deleting the duplicate row witht he lower loss?
I have a logbook which already uses a number of SUMIF formulas but have been trying to create one so that totals the number of hours flown in the above mentioned periods. I am attempting to copy the formula and then modify for the relevant column in this case: =SUM(IF(FlightDates<(TODAY()-90), 0, FlightLength))
FlightDates is the named range of the calender date in column A and FlightLength is the named range for total flying in column Z. However even though this forumla works in another situation e.g. tracking number of landings in the last 90 days, it comes up with an error.
This formula extrapolates information perfectly for me if I do not filter columns in the separate sheet with all of the information.
I know that SUBTOTAL functions can be used in a way to exclude hidden cells. Can I combine the SUBTOTAL function into my SUMIF function above to produce results that exclude filtered cells?
I have the same data (but not necessarily on the same cell for everyday) for everyday of the month. Now I need to calculate what is the total for an individual for the whole month. Example,I need to total John's data for the month of January from the individual sheet for Region 1, Region 2 and region 3. I tried the sumif function as below but it does not seem to work. =SUMIF('Jan 1:Jan 3'!B5:B7,"John",'Jan 1:Jan 3'!C5:C7). I have simplified the file as an attachment below.Appreciate need as the original file is for 6 months and I need a way to compute the data.

I am trying to figure out a formula (eg SUMIF) to calculate and summarize the number of Days Holiday based on a person's name (eg Tom's total Number of days Holiday days) based on the above column configuration of Dates and Names.
I am trying to pull cell values similar to a SUMIF function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range)). For example, in A1 I use a data list created from data elsewhere on the spreadsheet. In the data I created elsewhere, there are 2 columns being used. The 1st column is the information that is being used to create the list and the second column contains specific values (number or text). In the dropdown menu I select an available value (text or number) . When I have selected that value I would like cell A2 to show what the cell directly to the right of it shows from the data I have elsewhere in the spreadsheet as mentioned. I have tried the SUMIF function however it seems to exclude certain values (number or text) and I am not sure what else to use.
I need to perform 2 SUMIF's on 2 columns of data to return a result and I'm not quite sure the best way of doing this. I'll give an example below.
I have 2 columns of data, both numeric and the SUMIF needs to say if H1:H100="10" and also if J1:J100="907". I can perform one or the other but not both.
I have many kitchens using the same recipes. I need to distill information down until I've got a summary of how much is being made. Uploaded is a condensed version of the point in the process I'm having difficulty with. This workbook will pull information from 8 other workbooks and give me excatly what everyone made on any weekday.
And from there, with the kind help of this forum, I figured out how to do a SUMIF based on the recipe number. And it summed up all instances of 'Recipe X' being used. However, it continues to SUMIF itself all the way down the page... which is good, because of how recipes are chosen for each kitchen. However, I only need to report one instance of each recipe.
In the uploaded example (and I apologize for the colorful sheet, but it helped me double check what I was working on.) ... I only need to report the PURPLE results elsewhere... the first instance of each SUMIF.
I am wanting to use these two formulas in one cell. Is there anyway to do this? If "AD3" is 0 I want this =SUM(X3:AC3) and then if cell "AD3" is greater than 0 I want to basically use this formula
I have a table of data covering the last 9 months based on values automatically collated from 15 minute intevals. The date/time is in column A (01/01/2009 00:00) with the data collected in column D.
My wish is to get the average daily data from column D and I am slowly losing my head!!!
Is there anyway of getting a formula to auto-average the daily values bearing in mind there are currently 96 daily entries.
I have tried converting the first 5 digits of column A to numeric (i.e. 31894 for 01/01) then trying to write a formula saying =average(D1:D24577,if(range="31894",1)).
I can now see a simpler way but am so confused after an hour or so of trying.
Each day has 96 readings so I need an auto adding formula. average column cell A would say =average(D1:D96).
Is there are way to have the cell below auto-update itself to look at the next 96 values and so on and so forth?
I have a large set of daily rainfall and evaporation data (see attached sheet) which I would like to sum into monthly data. I have previously been doing this in Access, can anyone show me a quick way to do it in excel?
How to write a macro that will sum daily figures into monthly figures? On the attached spreadsheet I would like to take the daily figures on the amounts on the VRU DAILY worksheet and sum them in the appropriate month on the VRU # sheet.
