May 27, 2007How do I stop a text box called "Text Box 4" from being deleted. It was created from the drawing toolbar. I don't want to protect the worksheet if possible.

I would like to be able to clear all the text in the boxes and have yet to come up with any code to tackle this. Why do they all have the same name?

Sep 24, 2009On some of my worksheets, the slider bar on the right has become a small square rather than a long rectangle. This causes this slightest shift downward to jump through large amounts of rows. Excel seems to think there must be data down there I need. How do I get rid of empty cells at the bottom of a worksheet so that this no longer happens?

Nov 14, 2008This is part of a macro in a worksheet_change event. When a cell in column J gets deleted by a user, the corresponding cell in column K should also clear. But it's not responding to the delete.
It DOES clear when the other 2 criteria are met (.cells(1,10) = 0 and .cells(i,5) <> "Annuity"). The worksheet_change event should pick up on the cell deletion, but it's not. And column J is already a trigger for the macro to run, so I'm not sure what's going on. Either the trigger is still wrong, the isempty(.cells(i,10)) is not correct syntax, or this event just doesn't respond to cell deletion.

May 6, 2014I have created an excel worksheet that will provide budgeting and estimating tools for my project managers. All data used to be manual entry and took a good while to complete. I am trying to automate the process with VBA.
I created a UserForm called InfoVerify1. On that form I have TextBox 1 - 10. When the UF opens, the boxes display project information from my worksheet called "Basis of Estimate", also known as Sheet26.
The TextBox1 ControlSource is set to "E4". When I run the macro with Sheet26 active, the proper information fills in. However, when I am on the Start page or any other worksheet and I run the macro, it tries to fill in the text boxes with E4, etc, from the active sheet. I tried changing the ControlSource to "Sheet26,E4" or any combo thereof with only error messages.

Mar 4, 2009I am trying to work out how to stop input into a document if a certain response is selected from a form in excel 2007. Basically, i need some programming so if a question is answered a certain way - the user cannot continue completing the form as it becomes "locked" and an error box comes up saying this is the case - and what action needs to occur. As the list is a data validation list - i cant just separate it out - so that if one response is chosen over another then the error message appears.
For example the question might be "Will you use contractors". If the answer is Yes, the cell turns red and an auto response fills the cell (VBA has already been written into the document for this to occur). What i need additionally is an error box to come up saying "This audit cannot continue as a Minor Plan needs to be completed" and the rest of the questions responses say something to the same effect.

Unfortunately, I can not protect the all sheet or workbook (Requirement). So even if the cells are protected by "Validation", any user can delete the cells using the key DELETE or BACKSPACE on the keyboard !
VBA Macro (which could be activate at each change on the sheet for example...) ? or if it's possible to avoid cells deleting with the "Validation" in the Excel Data menu ?
If it's a macro, it would do :
1 ) see if a user is pushing DELETE or BACKSPACE on the keyboard
2 ) see if the cell contains formulas
3 ) if yes, make a box appears to say that is not possible to delete this cell
4 ) return on the Excel sheet without changes

Aug 17, 2009I've got a worksheet_selectionchange macro on a sheet, and another macro that you can run after it. The issue is that when the second macro runs, it also runs the selectionchange macro, and wipes some of the info that the second macro should be copying.
Is there a piece of code that I can use in the second macro to block the selectionchance code from running until it's compelte?

Dec 13, 2006my excel sheet runs through a lot of calculations, opens Flowmaster, a simulations program, passes on data, receivs data and so on. Is there any way to have a user input to stop the whole simulation. During the first tries I had a lot of break point in my debugger. But now I want to have a button to hit or better just some keys to hit to stop it without using the ctrl+alt+del which closes everything.

May 18, 2006I am attempting to format some TextBoxes from within a For/Next loop. I need a way to check which TextBox is the active TextBox in the loop. Using i as the variable, I came up with this code snippet: Me.Controls("TB" & i).Text = Format("TB" & i, "mm/dd/yy")
If i = 3, this gives me in TextBox3 (which is called TB3) the text 'TB3' and not the value of what is in TB3. It has got to bo something simple, I just can't see it!!!

I want to format these textboxes so that they only accepts numberical values (like 500,000....no dollar sign and no cents needed). After typing in 500,000 lets say for this example, I want to paste it into a cell in worksheet B (I can actually handle this part). What iIcan't handle is:
Formatting the textboxes so that they only accept numbers (or display a message if a number is not entered) Display the 500000 as 500,000 in the textbox without the user having to enter a comma Hitting enter or tab to get the value from the textbox into the cell in worksheet B. It only pastes it into worksheet B when I click on another cell. That doesn't seem like the right way to enter data.
I am wondering if I just should have used a userform and added the controls onto it. I have 8 sets of 5 user controls; I thought this would be easier.
