I want to know how to do this for example until 60, I mean 60 minus the row B:G
if i can subtract ranges without makeing them an array?
ex:
x = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Raw Data (2)").Range("C6:C65536")
y = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Raw Data (2)").Range("N6:N65536")
z = x - y
ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Raw Data (2)").Range("DH6:DH65536") = z
Or do I need to read each range as an array, subtract it and then write it out the the sheet?
I'm working on a budget and financial calculator
I've already got it set up to calculate my pay and deduct taxes and all my bill and tell me how much I have left at the end of the month, now I am trying to get it set up to tell me how much will be left out of each check I get based on what day my bills are due.
Essentially what i want is I7 is the cell for my first check of the month and K7 is my second check, Column H shows my due dates for each bill, column A is the price on each bill so what i want is something that is similar to.
If the value if column H is between 5 and 19 then deduct the price in column a from I7 (with H and A being the same row) and if the value of column H is 1-4 or 20-31 then deduce the value in column A (with H and A being the same row) from K7.
Another way to put it would be I7 gets deducted the value in column A if column H is between 4-19 otherwise do nothing (with H and A having same row) deduct the value in Column A from K7 if column H is between 1-4 or 20-31 otherwise do nothing.
I am looking to be able to compare a number with a letter so for example 4c and compare it with another 5c and in that scenario see a difference of 1 but when the two to be compared are 4c and 4a it would see 0.6.
in this excersize

it is basically sub category of the initial number so an A is better than a B and in tern a B is better than a C

I want to input pick 3 (3 numbers) into a cell and with the assigned SUM to that cell to add +123 to the 3 numbers I input, but how do I get the answer not to carry over?
For pick 3 games, the numbers are; 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 (ten total).
When I add +123 to 987 I get 1110. I don't want that. I would like it to show 010 instead, lotto numbers no carry over.

In cell O1, I want to have a formula that will take the dollar figure in A1 and subtract from that amount the total of all the amounts in cells C1 thorugh N1. But I don't know how to write that formula.
Let's say I've got $100 in A1, and then in C1 through N1, I have $2, $3, $4, etc. for a total amount of $94 in cells C1 through N1. I'd like to have a formula in O1 that would show $6.
How to write up that formula in cell O1.
Imagine I have cells A1 to A5 with a sequence of "numbers" like this:
A1 = 50-55
A2 = 45-67
A3 = 56-90
A4 = 49-80
A5 = 51-55
The left hand side numbers represent a score a minus sign (-) to separate and the right hand side represent another score. I want a formula that I can add, subtract, divide, average, etc, etc these numbers.
If I want to add the left hand scores, for example, cells A1 to A3, sum would be 151 (50 + 45 + 56).
Ive attached a spreadsheet showing what im trying to achieve. basically i have a scheduling objective, in which only a few slots (AA, BB, CC) are available. so the starting availability is fixed. for this example assume the starting values are 6,7, and 8 respectively. as 'bookings' are entered, im using the value of -1 against A, B, or C respectively, to indicate that AA, BB, or CC should be decreased by 1 unit of availability.
im trying to incorporate the subtraction within a pivot table. as you can see i am way off. the hypothetical formula logic that im trying to implement within the PivotTable would look something like this:
for A,B or C, sum all (-1) values for each instance of Date and Stage... this will give total bookings
add this total value to the starting values of AA, BB, CC respectively to get the new availability
I want to create 3 stacked bars on a chart, where each stacked par points to the same series data. This is for an automated reporting process and I don't want to create a 'staging' table if I don't need to. I have discovered that while the series formula can take an array in curly brackets of actual numeric values, if i fill that array with the same spreadsheet cell reference 3 times it is unable to evaluate it. By way of example:

I'm trying to program a spreadsheet for staff attendance at a school. In the spreadsheet the staff member has personal days, sick time, and sick time in the bank (sick time rolled over from last year). When they use sick time, it needs to come out of the bank first, until it reaches zero, then it should move on to the sick time accumulated for this year.

On the left side is the staff name, sick time, personal days, and bank. Then are the school days for July (if a staff member uses sick time/personal day it is placed under the date it was used). On the far right is the total remaining amount that the staff member has left.
The formula I have for cell AF4 is: =MAX(0,G4-SUM(H4:AC4)) so that the cell will not go below zero.
The formula I have for cell AG4 is: =E4-(COUNTIF(H4:AC4,"P")+(COUNTIF(H4:AC4,"HP")/2)) So that when P for personal day is entered, it will take a whole day, and when HP is entered a half a personal day is subtracted.
I need to figure out a formula for cell AD4. I've tried a couple of formulas I've seen on other posts, but they weren't for a series of numbers like this. And when I put them into this particular spreadsheet, it would subtract the bank until zero, move on to the 'sick time' cell and subtract the SUM of all the days sick rather than subtracting what was left when the 'Bank' reached zero.
The series 1,3,6,10,15,21,28,36 ("A" series) is the ongoing sum of 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8 ("integers") and naturally goes on for as long as on chooses. I am only interested in the numbers up to 100.
Is there an Excel function that will allow me choose any integer as a starting point and any higher integer as an ending point and provide the sum of the "A" series associated with the two choices.
For example: If I begin at 6 and end on 12 it would give me 308 =28+36+45+55+66+78

I have a list of data in Column A of a spreadsheet that is all at different lengths.
I would like to return the numbers from this (see below) seperately and also everything after the last number so returning "green"

I have a graph with something like 40 series that are being plotted. For one, I create non-standard data labels using VBA. In that code, I refer to ChartObjects(1).Chart.SeriesCollection(34). At some point I deleted a series that preceded it in the "select data" list and the code crashed. Took a lot of digging to learn that SeriesCollection(34) had become SeriesCollection(33).
To avoid this in the future, is there a way to refer to the SeriesCollection by a unique name rather than a sequential number?
I have a series of raws with 7 numbers in each raw; sums may vary a lot from raw to raw, and also differences between one number and the other in a same raw.
Now, i need to obtain a much simpler distribution of scores, so reducing differences.
I would need to transform all numbers into a 0-4 score distribution, according to differences between numbers in a same raw. It's like a kind of rank score.
I want to obtain in each raw:
- 1-2 numbers with score = 4 (if three or more numbers have similar values: no 4 scores)
- a maximum of 3-4 numbers with score 2-3 (according to differences between these numbers but also also according to the 4 scores already assigned)
- all other scores = 1 if the numbers are >0
- all other scores = 0 if the numbers are 0
example: |14|23|3|0|45|0|10| => |2|3|1|0|4|0|2|

I have a txt file imported into excel that's slightly strange.
But once into excel, I need to edit some numbers.
The values in cell B 23 is 1.
So is the value in B 28, so is the value in B 33, B38, B 43 and so forth ad infinitum... Or so it feels.
I need to edit all those values to 0.
