SumProduct Alternative For Large Range
Jul 6, 2009
i have a large set of data and the sumproduct formula i have is extremeley slow ( half the time excel crashes)..plus i will need to be updating this most days!
this is the formula i have in each cell -
=SUMPRODUCT(--($L:$L=Y$3),--($D:$D=$N6),--($F:$F=$O6),($C:$C))
i have tried a sumifs version but it keeps coming up with zero.
would anyone have any help as to how i could get this for formula changed so that it isnt crashing my machine over a large range?

I have a sumproduct that evaluates # of conditions and returns the count when everything is met. But with the amount of data I have it is very slow to recalculate. I'm trying to find an alternative. I've read through a bunch of threads about different ways to avoid sumproduct but I can't get them to work. Here is the criteria I'm working with (simplified) .....

I have a some data where I need to sum some data based on date range, and dept id's. But the dept ids are parts of various groups. For ex, one group covers about 300+ dept id's. Some of them have ranges (e.g. dept 1000 - 1050) but for whatever reason some dept id's that belong to other groups sometimes fall into the same ranges.
My first hope was one big range, but the overlap issue nixed that. As I mentioned there are some ranges so maybe 100 of them could be grouped into a range but I'd still have 200+ independent dept id's.
I read for 2003 the max criteria for sumproduct is 30 and for 2007+ it's 255. So maybe 2007 might cut it but this doesn't seem like the right way.
Btw, I'm doing this in VBA but I mention sumproduct because I've used it a few times within code via evaluate. Otherwise do I just have a massive string in vba (If deptid = #### or deptid = #### or deptid = #### etc)?
Again, it seems like there should be a better way. I thought about making a master list of all the dept's and sumproduct each one individually and then sum from the ones that fall under group but even then I have to identify the deptids I need for a particular group.

could provide me a loop function in VBA for these calcultions.
Cell A1*E1 + B1*F1 + C1*G1
Cell A2*E1 + B2*F1 + C2*G1
......till
CellA100*E1 + B100*F1 + C100 * G1
These are the calculations for E1-G1.
The process must be repeated till E50-G50
So the second step is:
Cell A1*E2 + B1*F2 + C1*G2
Cell A2*E2 + B2*F2 + C2*G2
......till
CellA100*E2 + B100*F2 + C100 * G2

im currently using a Code that copies a visible range from one workbook and pastes that Range to another workbook. I dont like it though because every time it pastes the screen jumps.
I tried setting Range 1 = Range 2, its not giving me an error but its not "pasting" the information to the 2nd workbook.
I know ive done it before by doing each cell in each row individually but a its a big Data Table and that would take too long.

I have used Offset() for creating dynamic Named Ranges in Excel 2003. I'm a little disturbed that this usage is no longer supported in Excel 2007? Has anyone else seen this breakdown? What alternatives are available.
In my brief investigation, it looks like opening the .xls in compatibility mode allows the usage to work. However, saving the workbook as a .xlsm (since I also have macros in it) causes any usage of the named range containing Offset() to return an error (both VBA and sheet functions).

I need to be able to query a large date range by a small beginning and end date range and return a count when the value is = each search criteria. i.e. - Search one year of dates from a table by Beg: 7/23/2012 to End: 10/21/2012 and return a count. The beginning and end dates are dynamic and I will need to reference the cells, i.e. B102 "Beg" B102 "End" and not a static date.

I have enormous amounts of data to sort through (as we all do) and I am trying to link them to unique identifiers for easier data maintenance later.
What I want to do is vlookup from the 'solved' sheet a code, which will search the 'data' table and return the 'DFU' code.

I'm looking for a formula that would tell me if a value in colume E can be found in column M while the values in column M may have characters before and after the value I'm looking for. The values are alpha and numberic in many cases.
Find E2 in M:M where E2 = 0123 and is in M:M as a15012388. The "yes/no" result is marked in red where I would like to have the answer.

The following code takes a large range of data (currently 20K+ rows) and breaks it out into separate worksheets. This takes a while, and I have been trying to insert a progress bar into this macro, but the progress bar goes in reverse (from 100 to 0) but the userform will not unload at the end.
Sub MoveCells()
Dim objBook As Workbook
Dim objSheet As Worksheet
Dim lngRowSpace As Long
Dim strName As String
Dim lngTimeRow As Long
Dim lngStartRow As Long
Dim lngInteration As Long
Dim strDataSheet As String

I have a range of purchase order rows, with the formulas stored in the first row (TemplateRow) which is hidden. The users may add any number of rows to this range, depending upon the number of different products being purchased.
Code:
'Copy the template row into the first newly inserted row
Rows(TemplateRow).Copy Destination:=Rows(insertionPoint)
'fill down from the inserted row down to the last new row
With Rows(InsertionPoint & ":" & NumberOfInsertedRows.Rows.Hidden = False
.FillDownEnd With
The problem is copying the formulas down to the new rows can take terribly long (minutes) in scenarios of thousands of products. Is there a faster method of copying down my formulas?

I have four named ranges (Segment, Keyword, Impressions and Dropdown) and I would like to create a formula-based ranking of keywords by impressions and clicks. Using the following array formula, I am able to return the correct values for impressions or clicks:
{=LARGE(IF(Segment=DropDown,Impressions),$H7)} where $H7 is the number ranking 1, 2, 3 etc.
My question is what array formula could be used to find which row in the array returned that number and then pulls the data from the same row in the other named ranges?
Essentially find row of {=LARGE(IF(Segment=DropDown,Impressions),$H7)} but return Keyword and Clicks on that row.
Other Notes: I cannot use pivot tables and some values might be the same which would make Vlookups not accurate for duplicate values.
Link to an example document to clarify this. [URL] .......

I am trying to sum figures within a specific date range in the following formulae.
=SUMPRODUCT(--(Bookings!G$7:G$576=B17),--(AND(Bookings!A$7:A$576>=$C$12,Bookings!A$7:A$576<$C$12+7)),Bookings!J$7:J$576)
Currently I get an error and I am certain it is in this part;
(AND(Bookings!A$7:A$576>=$C$12,Bookings!A$7:A$576<$C$12+7))
This is trying to look for dates that are greater than or equal to the one in $C$12 AND less than 7 days later.

5n1xyz112
8n2abc112
3n1abc111

I am performing a sumproduct calculation in an array form. The first three columns in the data table have criteria, " Name", "Letter" and "Multiplier". The following 5 columns have days of the week, "MON", "TUE" etc. What I am trying to achieve is to use a sumproduct array to muliply the "Multiplier" criteria against a particular "Day" criteria when "Name", "Letter", and "Day" criteria match a series of reference cells. What this requires me to do is to define the "Day" range of values differently when I change the "Day" criteria. How do I create a variable range?. example file attached.
