The following does paste the formula into the dynamic range, however, it doesn't move on to the next step in the code. It seems to get stuck on the last line. I let it run for 5 minutes and it still did not move to the next set of commands ...
I am trying to find a macro that can search a sheet for any cell that contains the text "Not on AOI" selects a range that contains that cell, 81 rows below, and 2000 columns to the right, then cuts the selection and pastes it 162 rows below the original cell where the text was found. What's hard is that the number of columns between the "Not on AOI" cells is variable.
I'm very new to excel macros and the parts I think I've put together are:
I'm not to familiar with macros or VBA so I hope someone can help me out with this.
I have 2 worksheets in this workbook. I want to select the range A2:K3 (or better yet, the first 2 data rows); the first row 1 contains column headers.
Then copy those two rows.
Next, select everything else in the worksheet and then Paste Special>Formats Then select cell A1 (just to give the active cell a place to rest) and then do the same to the second worksheet.
Then save the workbook.
My code below is pretty much a recorded macro. I'm basically wanting to change this macro to be expandable as the worksheet grows.
I'm looking to take some data from a selection of about 5 or 6 cells in a row, and use them for some formulas. I can only get as far as selecting the 5 cells.
If I have a row of 5 cells selected, how to I save each cell as a different variable? Does this make sense?
Cell 1 = number1 Cell 2 = number 2 etc..
I want to select them as a row to keep them all in one group. I don't know if this is correct or not.
I Want users to be able to copy a reference number from a an external program into excel, this works well for single cells but the cell I want them to be able to paste the information into is a merged cell and keep getting the "Data on the clipboard is not the same size and shape blah blah error". What I can do to get this information to paste? Is there some VBA that can kinda trick the cell to believe its single or when pasting it unmerges and then remerges again?
I have a worksheet with 14 columns. Column 12 is either blank or when I finish that project, from a drop down menu I pick Yes. What I am hoping for is that as soon as I hit yes the line will be cut from the first sheet labeled Open and pasted to the next available row on the second sheet labed Closed. On the first sheet that blank row is eliminated so there are no spaces and on sheet two it always looks for the next available row as to not over write any data.
Also, to make sure I am doing this right too, I would right click the tab then click view code, paste it into the window (below the drop down that says (General) click file save workbook then file close and return to excel correct? One last thing, while looking at this page it shows my worksheet I call Open is really sheet 16 and closed is really sheet 17.
I'm trying to write a macro, and the first thing I need it to do is paste a value into the currently selected cell. This value, though, will usually be multiline. So when I try to do it now, it pastes into the selected cell and the cells below it (one for each line of the pasted value). When I'm pasting manually, I avoid this by pressing F2 to edit the cell first, and then pasting. But how can I do this using a macro? Is there a type of paste command that will insert the multiline value from the clipboard into the selected cell?
I have a large amount of data in a single spread sheet. Each row has a branch number on it, there are multiple branch numbers. Each branch number is located in Column A. I want to separate this sheet and put all of the branch numbers into their own sheet. how to do this without manually copying and pasting?
I am making a worksheet that I intend to use to track my money. When I first open the worksheet, it opens on a tab where I can click a button to report a type of transaction. For example, if I make a withdrawl from the bank for $50, I click the button, it takes me to the sheet that tracks my bank-related stuff, selects a cell and opens up a form, at which point I type in what the transaction consisted of. However, the sheet also tracks what is in my wallet, so I'd like to finish reporting the bank transaction in the form, and have a button to click that reports the wallet part automatically.
So, essentially what I need to do is select several non-contiguous cells that are in the last row of the bank sheet, copy them, switch to the wallet-tracking sheet, and paste them in a row that is one past the last row of that sheet. The paste should keep the cells next to each other, even if they were non-contiguous when they were being copied.
I was planning to do was have a macro where the document opened and the cell that information was pasted in was decided depending on which cell was selected when the macro was run.
This worked fine, but it does mean that it needs someone who can edit the VBscript every time there is a new starter or someone leaves so isn't really viable.
What I was wondering, is if it is possible for me to start a macro, which then drags in the information I need from a text file, does all the calculations and rearranging, and then brings up a prompt for the user to open the document they want to paste it in, click on the cell where the pasting will start, and then the macro continues from there?
To try to explain it in as clear a way as I can. Say we have three managers, Alan, Brenda and Charlie. In Alan's team there are 10 staff members. Aaron, Bill etc.etc. If we have just run the report for Aaron, the macro will run, automatically drag all the information in and rearrange it, then it will pause while the user opens up the "Alan" spreadsheet, they select the "Aaron" first cell, click OK or something, and then the macro continues on its happy way?
I have 30 different cases working well in one module so far. Now I need to add some more cases, but the system doesn't allow me to start defining any new cases under Select - Case, it shows: compile error: procedure too large.
I'm thinking maybe there's a way to combine multiple cases like Case 30, 31, 32 in one statement, and use if, else to define each one?? So the coding won't return the "Procedure Too Large" error? see my original coding as below:
counter = 0 colkey = 0 For Each cont In PriceForm.HaveFrame.Controls If TypeName(cont) = "CheckBox" Then counter = counter + 1 check = cont.Value If check = True Then
I have a large spreadsheet with over 50 columns but usually only need to view a small selection of them. Many colleagues use the sheet and often use the format, hide, column function to hide columns they do not need but then the next user has to unhide them and re-hide others until they are left with the different columns they require.
Is there anyway of creating a menu which allows users to select from a list of all the columns those they wish to display, all the others therefore being hidden.
I have two workbooks. I am copying cells data from one workbook A to workbook B with macro - pretty easy. Now, after selecting and copying cell data in workbook A and switching to workbook B I want to be able to pause the macro and wait for the user to chose a correct cell where he/she wants to paste the data. After the selection the macro would automatically paste the data in selected cell. Since I am completely newbie any help would be appreciated. Here is the macro I have so far :
Sub CopyVIN() ' ' CopyVIN Macro ' Macro recorded 5/26/2009 by Pacific Coachworks ' Sheets("Sheet1").Select Range("G9:R9").Select Selection.Copy Sheets("For copying VIN").Select Range("A1").Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False Range("A1").Select Application.CutCopyMode = False Selection.Copy Windows("Cami's Production Schedule.xls").Activate ' Here I'd like to have a code for waiting for a user selection and pasting the data automaticlly.
I'm having a little bit of trouble with my code. I basically need to copy-paste special a large workbook (50 worksheets) into a new range-valued workbook. I've defined Sheet as S, but in some instances when I use the variable "S" I received a runtime error 1004.
Please see the highlighted red "S" in the code below.
Also, if one knew of an easier method for this particular operation that would be great!
Sub PasteSpecial()
Dim W As Workbook Dim S1 As Worksheet Dim S As Sheets
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Worksheets("Sheet1").Activate Range("A1").Select Selection.End(xlDown).Select ActiveCell.Offset(rowOffset:=1, columnOffset:=0).Activate ActiveCell.PasteSpecial End Sub it errors to: SELECT METHOD OR RANGE CLASS FAILED
I have a range of cells each containing a name. Based on a number that has to be entered manually I want excel to return the names concatenated in one cell. So for example:
Number of variable entered: 5
q9001 q9002 q9003 q9004 q9005 q9006 etc.
Should give me: "q9001 q9002 q9003 q9004 q9005"
I have been trying to work with formulas using IF and CONCAT functions. But so far I haven't figured out how to have excel return me the correct amount of variables for each separate number that can be entered seeing the number of variables entered can vary from 1 up to 50.
I am in need of a way to pull keywords listed in B2:B10 from text in A2:A10 and then those pulled keywords combined in cell C11.See attached document. So I have colors for keywords in column B and some random text in the column A including the keywords in parenthesis. Is there a way for a formula to find all keywords in A2:A10 and then list them in cell C11 with commas in between.So the result would be one cell C11 showing BLUE,GREEN,BLACK,ORANGE, etc.I have been trying to mess around with index and match and while I could get one to pull up I don't know how to combine it.
