Actively Update The Date/time Information Constantly
Nov 15, 2006
I am currently using:
=TODAY() and
=NOW()
to enter date/time on a sheet that is used to create a printed form. I want to ensure that the date/time are current when the form is printed, but they will actually only reflect when the workbook was opened. So, if the employee opens the workbook, then takes a break or answers the phone, when he prints the sheet the date/time may be wrong.
I need to have the worksheet either:
1. actively update the date/time information constantly
2. update it before printing,
3. or possibly have the workbook "time out" and close if there is no activity for 60 seconds or so.
I already have code entered to prevent a "do you want to save changes" promt when closing. And I am using a command button for print which closes the workbook automatically once the employee prints the form (to ensure that all other data is entered fresh everytime the workbook is used).

I have used the function = now() to have the most updated time but it updates a workbook when I open it in the first place. How I can avoid this?

Im trying to make an excel sheet as quick and easy to update as possible.
Is there anyway to add an option ( formulated button,cell etc etc) that can update the current date and time in a desired cell with just the click of a mouse?
This is for comunication as to when the info/count has been updated in the sheet.

I need is to be able to have a button show up on an Excel spreadsheet that you push to update the DAY and TIME to today. But, I need it to stay in a protected field so that it doesn't accidentally get changed by other users who open it up. And we save these for retention purposes, so if I open it a couple days later, I need the date to stay as the date I edited it on.

I needed a code that would input the current date and time in the cells in column N whenever changes were made to any cells in the row from columns A to M. For example, if I change a name in cell 6D, then cell 6N would automatically change to the current date and time.
I found a useful code on a forum (maybe here, don't know for certain) and modified it to suit my needs (see below). I am however now getting a debugging error suggesting that the second line that reads "Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()" is causing an error.

Basically, I have a sheet that shows time in Days going downwards (monday tuesday etc.) and is broken out by week. In Column C, I have Project Names. Columns G-O have numbers.
What I need to do is run a custom sort multiple times down the page so that each week has been sorted by Project Name (column C). I was hoping to be to just make a quick macro shortcut to run my custom sort and each new range I selected but I don't know how to make the macro run on the actively selected cells and not hard-coded cells.

I need to create a page (call it a dashboard) in excel whereby drop down fields (doesn't have to be drop downs, just how I imagine it to work at the moment), are used to refer to information in another worksheet, which updates several charts on the dashboard.
So, for example, I have several additonal tabs in the spreadsheet called 'Company 1', 'Company 2' etc, which in each tab contains information (monthly results) in exactly the same layout and format. However, on the front page, I would like to be able to select 'Company 1' (or 'Company 4') and then sub-select 'March 2014' results within that, referring to the data in the 'Company 1' tab. If possible, it would be handy to have this information displaying in a grid on the dashboard, which updates when you change between months and/or company. This could be the source data for the chart.

I would like to Use two drop down list with two set of information to automatically update fields.
I have Job Titles (1-6) and Step (1-5). Each Job Title has a new pay rate and each step is an increase in pay. What I am trying to do is set up a drop down list where some one can drop down Job Title and step and have the rate automatically fill in.
I am able to get the Job title to auto fill the rate field, but am having trouble incorporating the step into the formula.
Here is what i currently have:
=VLOOKUP(H6,'Pay Rate'!$B$2:$G$12,3,FALSE)
H6 = Job tilte field on 'WorkSheet' (Sheet1)
'Pay Rate'!$B$2:$G$12 = Sheet2 and Step increases per Job Title
3 = the current column I was working with in order to make the rate appear
False = for exact info
I do not want to combine the two columns but keep them separate drop down list.

So, I'm setting up an accounting book. There's a master sheet that needs to pull from the other sheets that are made. The problem is, with each new sheet that is made, I have to update the formulas on the master. I would like that if I made a new sheet, the master would automatically pull from it.
Example:
Master pulls renter fee info from May 3rd, May 7th
I create sheet (May 15th)
Master pulls renter info from May 3rd, May 7th, May 15th

I am attempting to pick up a date with time entry on a worksheet and place it into a TextBox on a UserForm. Format on the sheet is mm/dd/yyyy h:mm AM/PM. The UserForm is placing the value as mm/dd/yyyy 12:00 AM. here is the
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
If Not Range("dDate").Value = "" Then
TextBox2.Value = Range("dDate").Value
TextBox2.Text = Format(DateValue(TextBox2.Text), "mm/dd/yy h:mm AM/PM")
Else
TextBox2.Value = ""
TextBox2.SetFocus
End If
End Sub
"dDate" is the named range where the date is sitting. The format is also set on the TextBox2 exit event. Can anyone see why only the date portion is being transfered with the default 12:00 AM for no time component of the value?

I have loaded a .csv file in which the first column contains date/times, e.g. 01/12/2012 00:00. How do I now tell Excel (2010) that this is in fact a date/time format? If I select one or more of the cells, click on the Number dialog box launcher and try to pick a suitable format tghe cells resolutely refuse to budge from being text (i.e. left-justified, still allows me to edit the 'seconds' component to a number > 60). Also which data type should I be using? The only one that appears to have a full date/time format listed is Custom (not Date or Time).

I import data from a program that exports dates and times as text. I have been successful using "text to columns" to separate the time from the date and then using =text(A1,"00:00")+0 to get the time to show as serial time but I'd love to be able to do the whole date/time string in one step. In cell A1 there is data that is general format and is in this format:
01/01/13 00001
No matter how you try to format it, it is not a date or time. For this project I need the serial number for the date/time. Any formula that will format it as date/time and then allow it to show as a serial date/time?

What I have is a sheet that is copied periodically from some source sheet, and on this sheet is a table. This sheet is called "Onsite Checklist Template" and it's table is titled "Checklist". I also have another sheet called "Loggers and Initial Notes" which has a tabled titled "Record", and then finally a title sheet call "Proj Details".
To clear this intro up - The sheets, in their order, is: "Proj Details", "Loggers and Initial Notes", "Onsite Checklist Template". The tables: "Record" on "Loggers..." and "Checklist" on "Onsite..."
When the user wants to make a new site visit, he/she fills in the requested date and then selects a button on "Proj...". When this button is selected, it copies the table data on "Record" and puts it on "Checklist", then inserts a new worksheet tab, always in the 3rd position (the title is based on the site visit date in which the user entered), which is a copy of "Onsite...". Now we have another sheet with a table called "Checklist1", and upon another new site visit, there will be another worksheet with "Checklist2", and so on.
On the "Onsite..." worksheet, there is a button on it which also gets copied with the worksheet so that every new worksheet has this copied "Checklist ???" and this button. I'm looking for a macro that, when the button is selected, will bounce the active sheet's table "Checklist ???" off of "Record" and make changes as needed.
"Checklist ???" data range is B11:M20 (the header is on row 10); "Record" data range is B29:Q78 (the header is on row 28); Column headers are titled the same, just that "Record" has 4 extra columns, 3 in the middle and 1 on the end. "Checklist ???" columns 1-12 to "Record" columns 1-7, 10-12, 14-15. The search criteria is the 4th column in both tables ("Trk #").
I need the macro to do the following:If it finds a match, then update "Record" as needed with data from "Checklist ???", changing whatever cell is different in the row that contains the matching "Trk #", so long as the cell on "Checklist ???" is populated (i.e, if a cell on the target row of "Record" has a value, but it's blank on "Checklist ???", then "Record" wins; if it's blank on "Record", but populated on "Checklist ???", the Checklist wins. If both populated but different, then Checklist wins.If a "Trk #" exists on "Checklist ???" but is not on "Record" then add the line to "Record" (the 1st empty row, table size remains)I see no need for any "delete" at this time.
My concerns: The last column on record (column #16) is the filtering column for the worksheet copy event and needs to be left alone (it's formulated to produce a "Yes" or "No")I would like the ability to adjust table sizes if needed without modifying the macroThe table rows on "Checklist ???" will not be changed, deleted, or altered in any way by the macro.

I am using Excel 2013. Anyway, the first issue is that I need to pull a date and a time period from text. So, for example, if I see something like Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM, I would want to pull ONLY the "7/6/14 8:37PM" out of it. Each text box could potentially be different, so it might not always be in the same format as "Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM" it might only show just the date and/or the time without all the extra text i.e. 7/6/14 8:37PM. Some of the cells will have text, others might only have just the time or even just the date and the time. The only thing that I am worrying about in each cell is extracting just the date and time. If this is too much to ask of excel, I would be ok with extracting ONLY the time - 8:37PM and not the date, but I would much rather be able to get both the time and date.
THEN, onto part two of my question. After I would pull the dates and times, I need to compare them with each other. So, when I have the same date with two separate times on that date, I need to write a formula to show if those times on that date are less than 30 minutes apart. So, if I have 6 times on 7/6/14, I need to know if any of them are less than 30 minutes apart.
I would need to have the formula say something like "Problem" if the times on 7/6/14 would be 5:30PM, 5:48PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM, 8:15PM, and 9:00Pm for example. I would like to see the word "Problem" since 5:30PM and 5:48Pm is only 18 minutes apart, and "Problem" after 8:15PM since that is only 15 minutes past the 8:00PM which is obviously under 30 minutes. The times that are more than 30 minutes apart such as 7:00PM and 9:00PM for example are more than 30 minutes apart from any of the other times that were extracted.

I have this code:
Code:
Sub StaffDateFiller()
TodayDate = Worksheets("Program").Range("I8")
StaffName = Worksheets("Program").Range("I9")
[Code]....
Is there a way to either:
A) make this run constantly (as it stands now, the code works as I want it to, but I have to run the code for the operation to take place)
B) perhaps write it somehow using indirect reference (I am not sure how to do this), so that I do not have to constantly have the code look through a bunch of rows.
I simply want to check if an 8-digit value occurs in column 7, and take information from somewhere else and paste it into column 8 and column 9 of the same row.

Finalrow=Cells(rows.count,1).end(xlup).Row.
The macros I have written are used to help me format raw data reports into something more visually pleasing. When I start out with the finalrow code, it works great, but as the macro runs, it inserts rows and deletes rows, constantly changing my FinalRow.
SO..when I have "Do until activecell.value FinalRow" or something similar, it always either stops before the true finalrow, or in some cases keeps running past the true finalrow.
Is there a way to make it recognize the finalrow at any given time in my macro? For now the only way I could think to fix it was to just have my first macro add "End" to the row below the finalrow, and all my code just calls to look for "End" to stop.

At the moment I have 2 columns, A1:A5 and B1:B5. Normally A1:A5 and B1:B5 are all 0's. Every 5 minutes numbers will show up in column B and I do a procedure outside excel(feedback of DDE's) and they all go back to 0. Now sometimes the cells in A1:A5 are not all 0 after the numbers show up in B1:B5. I can reset A1:A5 to 0 with a macro button. I already built that macro, lets call that macro 'Mike'. So now I have to press that macro button every time when B1:B5 are showing zero's after the procedure and A1:A5 are not showing 0's. Is there a way a macro can constantly check if A1:A5 is non zero and B1:B5 is zero that the macro Mike is called?

I have the following macro:
Sub ScheduleUpdate()
WaitHours = 0
WaitMin = 15
WaitSec = 0
NextTime = Now + TimeSerial(WaitHours, WaitMin, WaitSec)
Application.OnTime EarliestTime:=NextTime, Procedure:=LinkUpdates()
Application.Run
End Sub
Sub LinkUpdates()
Sheets("PRICING SHEET").Select
Sheets("PRICING SHEET").UpdateLink Name:="P:CommonPRICINGCOMPILATION.xls", Type:=
xlExcelLinks
End Sub
The code does not work at all, just the skeleton to have an idea. I also need help recreating an entirely new macro which preferably works well!
The idea is that everyday at 8:00AM this macro starts automatically updating the links every 15 mins (SHOULD NOT MATTER IF THE SHEET IS OPEN OR NOT). But here is the catch.
This code should be the code for a checkbox. So when the box is checked, or TRUE, the macro should run normally updating every 15 mins. But when the box is unchecked, the macro should stop (no update occurring).
I want this macro because this sheet is linked to several other sheets and it needs constant updating. However, if I need to make a change in the main sheet, no updates should be happening.
