I have 2 columns of usernames A and B, A has approx 700 usernames and B has about 80. In column C I have a list of names 1 for each username in column A. I want to compare the B with A and if there is a match return the value in C and place it in D.

What im trying to do is match columns A & B from AUDIT Sheet to Columns A & B in MASTER sheet. If they match then pull columns C, D & E from MASTER into AUDIT.
I need to compare names in column A(sheet 1) to names in column A(sheet2) and if there is a match then I need the date from column B(sheet 2) to be copied to column B(sheet1).

If match is not found I would like it to copy entire row from Worksheet(WeeklyJobs) into first blank row at end of Worksheet(Master) (thus giving me a new record of a new job from the weekly report).

I'm also would like the ability to change the columns I am comparing. The actual sheets may have more that 4 columns.I can somewhat read the formulas but have a hard time under standing them completely.
I have two columns of values and I want to compare them and return differing values. So I named the ranges "A" and "B" so if your in B but not in A I want that value in C.
I started with a vlookup but that doesn't seem appropriate to the way I was using it.
=VLOOKUP(B, A, A, FALSE)
Is there a function better for this.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have used the merge facility to incoporate all the worksheets into one excel files. As they all have same heading, I have sorted the data, first by their account expiry time (oldest to newest) and then by manager (A-Z)
For example, system report generated on 15/03/2013, 28/03/2013, 03/04/2013, 15/05/2013, 28/05/2013 and so on and these are sheet names too. What I want is one worksheet called report with the same heading as my merged worksheets and return values where Column C in 28/03/2013 is compared to 15/03/2013 and if the employee ID matches than return the whole row of data for the report.
the next query would then be for finding employee ID in 03/04/2013 and comparing it with 28/03/2013 worksheet and returning the matched ID in report worksheet.

I have a spreadsheet with three years worth of data for a property I manage. Each column has cost data for the year and the specific department/cost for that year as the row value.
I have a column between the years that calculates the percent of gross revenue for the specific department/cost.
I would like to find (or create) a formula that will compare the percentage (or specific cost) for the three years within the specific row and if the increase year over year over year exceeds a trigger value it returns something (check me out/true/false) whatever.
The cost items for the property are in the hundreds so I'm trying to come up with a way to quickly see what specific cost items are going up (or down) more rapidly then what would be considered normal.

I start by having 2 different workbooks opened ("Main" and "Change") side by side like this: 1.jpg
Then i run the macro in my "Main" workbook and it should appear an Userform like it showed in the image below: 2.jpg
This is so that i can manually fill the user form with the correct columns by looking at the excel file, for example:

2. i have >100 countries, and with vlookup i have to type every single one, and this is what i want to escape (mb i need to refer to an array, or string, or no idea)
3. mb a solution could be sth with index, or match, i just tried it, copying some similar formula from www, but it didn't match the countries, and return the value respective for that country.
E.g. I have China in col1 (1st file), #employees 10 in col2 (1st file), and China in Col 1 in 2nd file. So, a formula should match China & China from both files, and return 10 as number of employees.
I have a file with multiple column headers and data entries (dropdowns) into the rows. I wanted to create a secondary sheet...like a pivot table..if the vertical and the horizontal are both in the two columns selected it returns a value in the table.
I would use a pivot table, but it is a data entry sheet and the pivot table does not bring up all the horizontal and vertical values unless they have already been selected in the sheet.

The long list is in BB from BB2:BB505
The column header "AL" is in AY1 and NL is in AZ1

(see attached) I need to compare on sheet 1, cell D1 and column A:A (this column will be much longer), with the data in columns C:C & A:A on sheet 2, if a corresponding match is found, the data contained in column D on the same row on sheet 2 is written to the cell with the matching data in sheet 1.
My attempt is in cell D2 on sheet1.

I need a formula to return the value at the cross section of two (2) lookup values that match. This formula will be input into column D under, "RATE" on the 1st tab, "TEST FILE".
In the 1st tab, "TEST FILE" there are a series of columns as follows;
A = Service
B = From
C = To
D = Rate
In the 2nd tab, "RATES" there is a series of rates with drivers From (green) & To (blue)
The formula needs to do the following;
1. Lookup the "From" value in column B on tab, "TEST FILE" and match to column B2:B59 on tab, "RATES" both highlighted in green
2. Then Lookup the "To" value in column C on tab, "TEST FILE" and match to row C1:BH1 on tab, "RATES" both highlighted in blue
3. Then return the value at the cross section of the match "From" (point 1 above) & "To" (point 2 above) in range C2:BH59
For Example;
The rate From SYD To CBR = 0.33. I have highlighted this in yellow on both tabs to show where the formula needs to lookup the data to return the answer.
Additionally, if we were to add service as an additional lookup match how would this work?
I have two sheets of data , sheet A and Sheet B.
Sheet B contains a column called "Name" and for each name, and for each name there are corresponding numbers. In sheet A, I have a "list of interest" in column A. What i want to do look through the data in sheetB to find a match from the list of interest and return the corresponding letters, located in column A.
I have filled out the first two rows of results that should be returned as an example.
One idea i had was to put a vlookup formula in each column result 1 to result 6 so i can catch all 6 "Serves" columns from column B, but there may be duplicates in the serve columns and vlookup only reports the first match.
I'm trying to compare values in 2 separate columns to see how many times the same value appears in both columns. Ideally I would be able to insert a range function to compare the values in the column "ID 1" against the values in column "ID 2" and return the count of times that a value appears in both columns. what I'm after is a macro to check the contents of Column 'A' against column 'B' and display any duplicates in Columns 'C' & 'D'.
