Aug 25, 2009in cell F5 I would like to know how to count the times between 13:00 am and 14:00 so if theres 3 times it will show a 3 i havnt got a clue what formula to use.

Nov 15, 2007I need to create a formula that counts the amount I times I enter a value. For example if I put 1 in A1 then B1 will = 1. If I do this 15 times (putting 1 in A1) B1 Will = 15. If I put a 2 in A1 then C1 will = 1. If I enter a 2 in A1 15 times then C1 will =15.

Apr 20, 2009Basicly we pay single rate between 8.00am and 8.00pm at all other times and on bank holidays and weekdays we pay an enhanced rate. If I can calculate the standard hours then the remainder of the hours are enhanced. Aim to count how many work hours fall between a standard start time (SHS) and a standard end time (SHE) (currently 8.00am and 8.00pm), that do not fall on a weekend and are not a bank holiday.
Column B = Start time (eg 06:00)
Column C - End time (eg 22:00)
Column D= date (from which day of week is derived)
Column E = Y or N for whether it is a bank holiday or not..............

Sep 30, 2013If I have two columns of data, and I want to count the numbers of times a certain letter appears in column A and another certain value appears in column B, I use the following formula:
=sumproduct((AA="yes")*(BB:="X"))
What formula would I use to count the number of times "yes" appears in column A, AND EITHER "X", "Y", or "Z" appear in column B?
Would this still be a SUMPRODUCT formula, or would a cOUNTIF formula be used?
How about counting the times certain letters appear in THREE columns?
Subtract Times With Different Counting Periods

sheetA
range (A3:A23), = product code.
range (H3:H23), = time used.
with this formula I take the time used for each product. "= SUMIF($A$3:$A$23,M2,$H$3:$H$23)"
sheetB
On this one I record all different lost times in the same period of time.
What I want is:
Take out from the result obtained with the above formula, the time down from SheetB.
Ex:if I used on sheetA between 7:00 and 18:00, 4:10 of the product A, I want to take to this value the downtime in the same period from sheetB.

What I need is to be able to find when a certain type of driver in column A (drivers belong to different rutes) say from route A is at rest (this is shown as RD) which is shown in column B and then be able to count how many times those two exact events occur.

I'm currently using this formula for exact values: COUNTIF(A1:A5,"Hello"), but this only works if an entry in a column is exactly: "Hello"
I want to be able to count a column even if it has more words, such as "Hello how are you" etc., and this column would be counted because it has the word "hello" in it.

the number of days there was 1 case
the number of days when there were 2 cases.
As yet there are no days in which there were more than 2 cases but there might be in the future.
I have a list of dates when operations took place in that room. On some days the it was not in use, so those dates don't appear in the list. Some days there was 1 case, so that date appears once in the list. On some days there were two cases, so that date appears twice in the list.
What I've done so far is create a pivot table that contains all the dates, then grouped it by day and counted the number of times there was 1 or 2 cases in a day by hand, then subtracted the total to get the days when there weren't any cases.

Dec 12, 2011I have a 2007 Excel spreadsheet (saved as .XLS) with worker names in column A and error types in column B. Column B can have multiple entries (which are sometimes duplicative of each other) separated by a hard return.
What I need to do is run tallies to determine the number of errors by type for each person, counting the value every time it appears, even if it is more than once in a particular cell. The ultimate goal is to generate a formula to track the number of occurrences for all error types types for the person in Column A (i.e. one formula each to track ABC's Procedural errors, ABC's Technical errors, ABC's Admin errors, DEF's Procedural, etc) though ideally I just need a formula to calculate any one of those and I can edit it to get the rest. The COUNTIFS formula is where I started but that only seems to count cells with the value as opposed to occurrences of the value. I did find this formula in my searches but it doesn't seem to work:

Counting Number Of Times Specific Month Appears In Entire Column?
Aug 22, 2014I am trying to create a graph that is conditional on two different columns. The first column is a date column, the second column has various categories. I want to show how many times each category appears per month. This database is continually added to so I wanted the formula to reflect the entire column range.
For example, let say I have 5 categories (Grapes, Apples, Peach, Pear, Banana). Column A would show a date (in a M/D/Y format) and Column B would list the fruit type. I want to show how many Grapes were input in January, February, March, etc. and then move on to show how many apples in each month, and so on.

I attached a COUNTIF to it to count how many times the index finds itself on another table; if it doesn't find itself, then it goes blank. However, this time I need to count how many times it finds a certain string condition in the other table.

Ive tried the frequency formula but that doesn't work the way I want it - I think its probably the wrong formula to use. I've also tried a pivot table but they always vex me. Feb 23, 2010In my workbook I have about 20 sheets (less in the attached sample), and on most sheets I’d like to query data for each day and find an average value based on the time and then copy that result into another sheet. I’m not sure if I’ll need 2 macro’s for this or if one can be used.
Here’s a quick description:
Assuming that I am currently in the sheet I want to run the macro, then I will either input “1:45” or “0:45” into a popup box, or I could always simply input the 1:45 or 0:45 in the code itself. I’m flexible
1:45:
If I input 1:45, then I’d like the macro to find the first 1:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation. Once 1:45 is located, then the macro moves up to find 22:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation.....

Apr 8, 2014I'm looking for a formula that will calculate the difference in times between specific times while working with a 24 hr clock. Please see details below:
E3 provides the start time of 4:00
H3 provides an end time of 15:30
If an employee works betwen the hours of 0:00 (midnight) to 5:59, this is considered DIFF hours and is therefore the number I am seaking. So for the data noted above, the total DIFF hours worked is 2 hours.

Counting Matching Values In Two Separate Ranges Without Counting Duplicates?
Jan 1, 2014I cannot get various formulas (Countif, Match, Frequency, Etc) to work properly.
I am trying to arrive at a total number of matches of numbers in cell range B1:G1 with any numbers entered into the cell range of K1:P11 and have the total of matches display in cell H1.
However I do not want to count duplicate numbers from the K1:P11 cells. (if the number 5 in posted in K1:P11 multiple times I only need it reported once in H1)
B1:G1 is the constant and the numbers will not change - K1:P11 cells will be populated by adding numbers until the all the numbers in B1:G1 is completed and match.

Sep 15, 2006I thought I found a formula that would work, but it's not working. Each month I have to count the number of service tickets that have arrived between certain time ranges. They want to gauge during what times we seem to get the biggest batch of service requests.
6 am to 10 am
10 am to 5 pm
5 pm to 6 pm
6 pm to 6 am
The format of the cells are:
1:21:19 AM
1:28:08 AM
1:35:48 AM
1:49:19 AM
2:17:02 AM

The formula I tried for 10 am to 5 pm: =COUNTIF(B2:B677,">="&TIME(10,0,0))-COUNTIF(B2:B677,">"&TIME(17,0,0))
It gives a result of 676, and I know from manually counting that there is only 327 cells that have a time between 10 am and 5 pm.

Jul 12, 2007I included a spreadsheet that lays out what I am looking to do, basically I copied some times and speed from net. It shows up in non 24 hour format. I need to find the times and an associated speed for each row (day) directly before and after my inputted desired time. I've searched for days, tried different formulas with index,match, lookups,timevalue, time, etc and even tried using other peoples vba code without success.

If a person is working between 8 till 12 and then 1 till 5 i need to count the instances between these times.. so if somebody is working between these hours a 1 should appear and if they have finished their shift or are on lunch then this should change to 0

Jul 10, 2009Have a spreadsheet i need to add together a large array of durations which are recorded in hours minutes and seconds. They are all formated like 0:00:00 and will likely run over a 24 hour period. Adding two of these together is fine but when i try and add multiple using =(A1:A5) the result returned is always 0:00:00. I have tried formatting them as both general, and time in format H:MM:SS. Have also tried doing a pivot table changing the field options to SUM of call duration. Screenshot attach with column is question i'm trying to sum.

Mar 30, 2009I have a bunch of recordings on my DVR. So I put the titles and description onto a spreadsheet each in their own column. Then I created a "length of time" column. So why, in this attached spreadsheet, does the "grape" total autosum all the rows in that column correctly but the "cherry" total does not total it's column correctly?
I looked at the format of all cells in both columns and they are both set at h:mm.
