Jul 23, 2014I have a list of numbers column A and a list of dates in column b, i need a formula which looks up the most recent for each of the numbers. can this be done?

Aug 20, 2008I want to lookup an ID which there may be three of, but I would want the most recent date out of the three ID. I can get this to work by putting the column in ascending order but this is not very practical.
Is there any way I can do a lookup and add a date parameter to lookup the most recent?

Dec 23, 2009I have a workbook to keep track of names and dates of a specific action. There are 10-15 names that recur on the list. The most recent action is added to the bottom of the list. The names are in column I and the date of the action is in column J.
The problem is having to scroll through the list to find the most recent action for each person. Ideally i'd like to have a list of the names in column N and then in column O the most recent date in the list for each name.

Jan 26, 2009Have a sheet with 24K rows. Column A is client name. Column B are check dates. The info is sorted by client then check date. Clients can have one to many check dates, so I client is listed as many times as there are check dates. If ten checks, then ten rows for that client. One check then one row for that client.
I only want to keep the last/most recent check date for each client, deleting all other rows for that client with check dates before the most recent. I believe I need to step through the file comparing column A, row by row, to see if I have a match for the next row in A. If no match I keep that row, because there is only one check, and move down one. If a match, then I delete the current row.
How to code this is my problem. Is it a loop?

Oct 27, 2006I've searched the site, but have not found anything that matches what I want to do. I have a statistical spreadsheet that tracks machine accuracy by date. The spreadsheet has multiple columns per worksheet. The info is entered and sorted by date with oldest date first. I want to set up a seperate worksheet to find the most recent date from several different columns and populate it in a seperate cell. From there I'll do some calculations to identify how long it has been since a particular machine has been accuracy verified. Is there a formula to do this or does it have to be done through a macro?

MAX Function To Populate The Most Recent Date In A Series
Mar 11, 2009I have used the MAX function to populate the most recent date in a series.
-EX. the most recent date input into the cells S8, T8, U8 will populate in cell R8. There is a default value of 0-Jan-00 that automatically populates in cell R8 as a result of the MAX Function. Any value that is input into cell S8, T8, U8 will show in cell R8 immediately after being input as a result of the MAX Function.
I need cell R8 to remail blank until the last of cells S8 or T8 or U8 has been input (in no specific order). Once the last cell has been filled; it is only at that time I need cell R8 to show that most recent date input into any of cells S8 or T8 or U8. I can't hide the column, I need cell R8 to remain empty until the last of the three cells- S8, T8, U8 has been filled (the last cell filled will not always contain the largest value or most recent date).

I would like to preload the budget for the whole year
But the ytd formula should only show results to match the input of actuals
In otherwords, If I input actuals for period 1, the YTD formulas for actuals and budget should return YTD period 1 only and ignore the remainder of the budget inputs
After period 2 actual inputs, the formulas shlould update to reflect period 2 YTD and so on and so forth
How can I accomplich this?

Mar 1, 2010I have spreadsheet set up to calculate me and my friend's handicaps. I have set it up almost completely. The only problem is that I forgot one little detail when setting it up: handicaps only calculate the 20 most recent rounds of golf.
Rather than only storing the newest 20 rounds, I would rather add a layer to my formula to filter out older records for me.

In the "Score Entry" tab on my spreadsheet the date is in column D. Is there someway to modify this formula to filter anything beyond the previous 20 rounds?
For the sake of better communication the "Rounds" named range is a list of the number of total rounds played and the corresponding number of rounds that should be used to calculate the handicap.

What I Want Return the MAX Value of the cells in a Column labeled start date for the rows where a Column labeled Agent =X and a Column labeled Mission Type = Y
In plain English with an example In another Cell I want to display the most recent start date for a mission of a particular type for an agent
Using the following table as an example I would like to determine the last time Agent 007 was on a Mission of type a
The Expected result should be 6/23/2008
If the same was asked for agent 99 the result would be 4/20/2008
And again for 66 the results would be 5/2/2008
If we then changed the mission type to b the results would be
007 6/23/2010
66 5/2/2010
99 4/25/2010
Here are the formulas i have tried already the results for these were incorrect and exactly the same 6/23/2012 the formula seems to be ignoring the first value and just calculating the last column to the latest date

Each new month I need to add a new Expense Ratio column after the most recent expense ratio Column. (i.e. Find "Expense Ratio March 2013" and I need to add a column after that with heading "Expense Ratio April 2013"
Same thing for Capital Balance - add a new Capital Balance column after the most recent Capital Balance Column. (i.e. Find "Capital Balance March 2013" and I need to add a column after that for "Expense Ratio April 2013"

What I am looking for is a formula to look up a1 "restricted". then lookup the security table and find "restricted" its value is 5 (years) then add the 5 years to date in b1, but place it in c1.

Jun 2, 2006I need an IF formula, that states if a date is more than a month after the date in the cell then it is timely and if it isn't then it is not timely. For example the date in A1 is 12/11/05, if the cell is A2 is 13/12/05 (or any date after that) then A3 should read Not Timely, if A2 is 12/12/05 (or any date before that, including a date before the date in A1) then A3 should read Timely. Is there any way to do this?? At the moment I am having to go through manually and put in either Timely or Not Timely.

Jan 5, 2012I have a table with three columns. I'm building a calendar on a separate worksheet and am looking up the "value" based on a calendar date. So if a date falls within any of the ranges, I'd like to return the value in column C. For example, if the date is 02/07/12, I'd like for the result to be value 1, or if the date is 04/17/12, then I would like the result to be value 3. I've used a nested vlookup, but all that give me is the value when either the start or end dates match, but I can't get a value when the date falls within the range. If the dates were consecutive, I would simply use vlookup/TRUE, but the dates are not consecutive.

Lookup Formula With Two Lookup Values
Nov 12, 2008I have 3 Sheets named Paid, Rejected, and Reprocessed.
On the Paid and Rejected sheets I have 2 fields Customer # (Column A), and Amount (Column Q). (The customer # field has many duplicates but the amounts are never duplicates)
On the Reprocessed sheet I have all the rejected items (all fields) and also a field named Reprocessed. I need to use a formula that will check the Paid sheet for any items that have the same Customer # and Amount and return the amount
There are 8,216 rejected items and 45,047 paid items. Some items were originally rejected have been reprocessed and show under paid.
Any thoughts on which formula I should use?

Jan 28, 2009In my workbook I have multiple sheets but I'm attaching a very simple workbook to demonstrate what I'm trying to accomplish. In my "Lookup" tab/sheet. I want to have known Latitude and Longitude data that will exist in columns A&B. Columns C & D will have address numbers and Street Name. I would like my lookup formula to find the longitude and latitude data from my "lookup" sheet, when the matching address information is typed in, in my 2009 sheet. I have to keep the street numerics and street name separate on this worksheet as well. I believe I'll need two separate lookup formulas as I need these formulas to start in cell G4 & H4 in my "GeoCoding1" sheet. Is it possible to have four columns of data to be viewed in a lookup formula? I tried this formula in cell G4 (GeoCoding1 sheet)

And I want to summarise this in a table with one row for each day of the year which looks like

5/1/12 - Venue 1 - 25
etc etc
I can't work out the formula to put in Column C on my second table which will lookup the venue name and then put in the sum of the daily values.
Lookup Up Of Max Date And Corresponding Value
Dec 15, 2013I need to lookup the newest date that is populated and take the corresponding value for that date for each row. For example member ID m1, needs to go to the newest date and show the value for the newest date that it is populated, so it would show the number 5 in column E for 8/4/13, as that is the newest date that is populated. For member ID m2, I need to show the number 7 that corresponds with the date 8/2/13. Attached is a picture for reference.
