Return Sub-folders From Named Folder
Nov 26, 2013
I want it to return the subfolders from a named folder, but only the folder name, right now it returns the whole path. So my code has to then text to column that path, then delete the columns I don't need. Is there a way to shorten this? Here is my code so far:
'Lists Folders'
Worksheets(1).Range("A3:A300").Value = ClearContents
Worksheets(1).Activate
Dim row As Integer
Dim SearchFolders As Variant
row = 3
LookInTheFolder = "I:projects2Koch58MY8900PROCESS2013 Work (Phase 3)DIH_SulfolaneEquipment"
[code].....

macro and I think this has me on my way; however, I do not understand the code and I am having difficulty modifying it. It returns the path in cell $A1 of my workbook, but I get reference errors in $B1:$L1.
I would like for the code to start entering the values in row 2 of my current worksheet. Row 1 I want to make a header row. The first column I like having the file path. Can the path be changed to a hyperlink? I would then like for it to return the values in $AP1:$BC1 to $B1:$O1 of my current workbook.

I need all the Excel files.
I found a code which is able to move only from Folder but not from the Subfolder.
HTML Code:
Sub Move_Certain_Files_To_New_Folder()
'This example move all Excel files from FromPath to ToPath.
'Note: It will create the folder ToPath for you with a date-time stamp
Dim FSO As Object
Dim FromPath As String
Dim ToPath As String
Dim FileExt As String
Dim FNames As String

I have attached a workbook that creates new folders based on text in a cell.
As you can see when the button is pressed it runs the macro which when it is done calls the next & so on.
What I would like to know is there a way of acheiving the same results with a single macro.
Eg column A contains 4 cells with text. The macro when run will check for cell content then create folder based on that text macro will stop when next cell is empty.

Am trying to copy 50 worksheets from One workbook, into separate existing files (overwriting previous file) in existing folders; once copied, destination files can not be linked to source file.
I'm able to copy the tabs into new workbooks, in the correct folders, but when trying to perform PasteSpecial in new books, original source file is also pasted over.
The parts of the file name and folder location are cell values located on each sheet.

For Each sheet In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
sheet.Copy
Set workbook = ActiveWorkbook
With workbook.Sheets(1)
.UsedRange.Copy

For the last year I have been downloading cash register X1 and Z1 files onto an SD card. Each night's files (X1 & Z1) are stored in a new folder with the naming convention "RP + [DATE]", (EX: RP120910, [YYMMDD]). I have 265 folders! I need to go through each folder, select the Z1 file (I don't care about the X1, X2 or Z2 files) and rename each with the following naming convention: "Z1 + folder_name + .xls". For Example: Folder RP120910 contains the Z1 file named "Z1_T1729.ECR". After renaming, the file should be "Z1RP120910.xls". As the VBA code loops through each subfolder, selecting and renaming the Z1 files, I would like the new files to be placed into a new folder named "Z1Files". Note: All subfolders are currently in a directory named "RegisterFiles". I am using Excel 2010.

E.g. C: est1File1.xls or C: est2File2.doc, and then pasted to the directory in column B. e.g. X:BackupFolder1 or X:BackupFolder2.

I am attempting to create a macro that will create a new folder on the network drive Arie:quotes that will create the new folder and save the the file in the new folder. I need the name of the file and folder to be set to the master (worksheet) cell "B3". and then if possible have it be conditional that if cell "B40" on the same master (worksheet) has a value to have the value added at the end of the filename via hyphen. This workbook has numerous worksheets in it approx 15 worksheets. I am not sure if this is relevant.
As an brief example.
Cell "B3" on the master(worksheet) contains a job name I-40 bridge
So initially I would like the Folder name and file name to be I-40 Bridge
However once the Cell "B40" has been filled in with the value 54213 then I would like the file to renamed to I-40 Bridge-54213 and saved within the same folder.
I am currently working with Excel 2007 Pro edition on windows 8. I
I have found several other macro's that work with an auto save but i am unsure of how to change the directory to the network drive and show the correct file paths. This is the example of the macro I am currently working with.
Public Sub SaveAsA1()
ThisFile = Range("B3").ValueMkDir "C:NewFolder"ChDir "C:NewFolder"ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=ThisFileEnd Sub

I have managed to get this far - I have put together a macro (from different threads on this site) that opens closed workbooks, copies data in one of the sheets (same sheet in each of 28 books), and pastes the data it into a master book sheet, each paste starting below the last. So that bit is working. The first bit of help I need is a line of code that will make the macro loop through a number of sub folders in a main folder. My code at the moment works as long as I specify a path that ends with the name of one subfolder, and it only loops through this subfolder. I would like the path to end at the folder that holds all the subfolders ('Workbooks' in the path below), and then add some code that tells it to apply the macro to all subfolders in this folder, so it loops through them all.
The second issue is that after the macro goes to the closed book(s), copies the data in there and pastes it into the master sheet (into columns E:FG), I then need it to go back to the workbook it just copied from, go the same sheet, to three specific cells on that sheet (FH1:FH3), copy the content, go back to the master sheet, and now repeatedly paste the content (values only and transposed) of these three cells into three cells (in columns B:D, with row number being dependent on what rows the first lot of data was copied into) next to every row it just previously pasted in for me. When it loops to the next workbook, it needs to do the same, and the three cells will have different content than the ones in the previous workbook paste.
I dont know how to define the range it needs to paste into the second time. I tried using the definition I used for the first paste (MCDrow), to tell it that it is the same rows, just different columns, but this is not working.
Here is what I have so far, which does the first part of what I need, except for needing a way to have it loop through all subfolder in the 'Workbooks' folder (at the moment it lists Barwon South West as a subfolder in that path, but I actually have multiple subfolders, not all called Barwon South (all different names) that it needs to loop through and do both the first and the second paste for. I have taken out the code I was trying to use to do the second paste, as this was not working and the code is pretty messy as it is (I sort of bumble along, being so new, and I know the code is not very clean or efficient!).
Can someone help me put in the few lines I need to loop through all my subfolders (if you give me an example I can probably extrapolate), but to get you started, three of the subfolders are Barwon South West, Eastern Region and Gippsland. And can someone help me put in the code that will do the second paste for each workbook?
Sub Click2()
Application. ScreenUpdating = True
Dim MCDrow As Long
'Dim SubFolders As String
MCDrow = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Client Data").Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row
Fpath = "Q:Clinical ServicesCS Statewide DatabaseWorkbooksBarwon South West" ' change to your directory
'SubFolders = True
Fname = Dir(Fpath & "*.xls")
Do While Fname <> ""
ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Client Data").Unprotect
Workbooks.Open Fpath & Fname
Worksheets("Client Data").Activate
Worksheets("Client Data").Unprotect

I have several excel files in a folder, and they are named:
AA v.5
AA v.6
AA v.7
AA v.8
BB v.5
BB v.7
CC v.8
CC v.6
The "AA" and "BB" are names of who created it and v.5 are the week it was created.
What I would like to do is in an Excel file be able to choose to retrieve information about for example how man files with v.5 in its name.
OR information about all files with "BB v." in its name (to see all files created bye BB)
Or "BB v.4" (all files created bye BB in week 4)
Or "BB v.4"+"BB v.5"+"CC v.6"
The reason for this is that I would like to be able to create statistics from this so that I can see how it has changed like in a graph. So that I can see the difference and compare how many files BB and CC have created and which week.

I have the following codes in which I am to refer a file and folder to do some further processes.
myfilename = "C:Documents and settingsacsMy DocumentsEntrymyfile1.xls"
folderPath = "C:Documents and settingsacsMy DocumentsEntry"
I want to enter these two paths in a sheet in my excel report file (For example, I am running the report from Report1.xls, in which there is a sheet name "Filepaths". In this,
in B5, I would like to enter the Filepath (B5 named as "FILEPATH")
in B6, I would like to enter the Folderpath (B6 named as "FOLDERPATH")
So that, if I am copying the folder to another area, I no need to change the code every time in the VBA editor. I can do changes in these cells and it will be taken as the path to run the code further.

Most of the methods used for returning the sheet name are quite cumbersome. "=MID(CELL("filename",A1), FIND("]",CELL("filename",A1))+1,256)" takes up a lot of space in a larger formula.
Is it possible, please, to create a Name which returns the sheet name? For example I could write "=ThisSheet" and it would return the name of the sheet.
Of course I could resort to a UDF, but I wondered if it could be done directly in Excel.
When I try to insert the formula "=MID(CELL("filename",A1),FIND("]",CELL("filename",A1))+1,256)" into a Name, Excel helpfully converts A1 to "'Sheet1'!A1". So "=ThisSheet" in Sheet2 returns "Sheet1".
If I make the sheet name part of the Name, as in "'Sheet1'!ThisSheet, it works OK, but has to be added for each new sheet (though it works if an old sheet is copied).

I have a named range which refers to: =MATCH(LARGE($G$5:$G$68,ROW(G5)-4),G$5:G$68,0)+4. It is supposed to find the largest figure in the adjacent column, list its row in cell H5, then the second largest for cell H6 and so on until the end of the data. The data in column G is dynamic and some cells will contain "0" with certain sections of data thus why I need a formula and cannot just use sort each time.
My problem is that when I use the formula as a named range I get "#N/A" and when I evaluate the formula I will get the answer but in array brackets (e.g.{17}) before the final step turns it to "#N/A". The formula will work fine if inputted directly into the cell but as the same formula will be used over three columns and numerous rows I would much prefer to use a named range.

I have four named ranges (Segment, Keyword, Impressions and Dropdown) and I would like to create a formula-based ranking of keywords by impressions and clicks. Using the following array formula, I am able to return the correct values for impressions or clicks:
{=LARGE(IF(Segment=DropDown,Impressions),$H7)} where $H7 is the number ranking 1, 2, 3 etc.
My question is what array formula could be used to find which row in the array returned that number and then pulls the data from the same row in the other named ranges?
Essentially find row of {=LARGE(IF(Segment=DropDown,Impressions),$H7)} but return Keyword and Clicks on that row.
Other Notes: I cannot use pivot tables and some values might be the same which would make Vlookups not accurate for duplicate values.

I need a macro in a workbook to look at all the files in the same folder that have "*att*.xls" in the name and determine and copy from the range A15:W515 only the rows that have data in at least columns A, C and D. Each file will vary as to how many rows there will be and there are more than the files with "*att*.xls" in the folder. The data will be on the only worksheet in each file and the worksheet is named "G2WAttendee_xls" the data from all the files need to be copied to the file called "Consolidated webinar reports.xls" (I am using Excel 2003) and to a sheet called "Attendance Data" and added to the end of the last paste.
At the start of the macro the current file "Consolidated webinar report.xls" should be saved to a sub folder of the current directory and have the date saved added to the name. The sub folder is called "Completed reports". The data in the original file on worksheet "Attendance Data" should be deleted.
At the end of the process all the files that have had data copied from them should be moved to the sub folder "Attendance reports consolidated" (This could be done as each file is closed if that is easier).
I have headings in row 1 of the "Attendance Data" worksheet that match the headings in the various files in the folder (which will always be in row 14 of the individual "*att*.xls" files).
The folder with all the files and the "Consolidated webinar report.xls" file is at path "Z:P and S MEvaluationsWebinar series 2012-13TB".

I have an Excel VBA Macro for creating/logging drawing numbers. Each drawing belongs to a job number. Each job number has a folder name containing the job number followed by a description (ie 999999 - bracket assembly) for storing drawing pdf's. The job number is only known as a 6 figure number in the drawing creation process BUT for the PDF saving process it is a string value...as my example above
I have to change my process by pre-creating the Job Number folder, then have the macro look for the appropriate folder by searching the parent folder for a sub folder containing the job number (always the first 6 figures).
I want to insert in my macro some code that searches...
The parent folder for a folder containing the job number. The macro value for the parent folder is P:engineeringdrawings (this never changes). the macro value for the job number is iOpenair (it's an entry that is entered as start the macro). Imagine the value for the job number is "999999"...so the search would be for "999999*.*" The code needs to search the parent folder, find the folder name that begins with a six digit number. Capture the complete name of the folder and store that name as a Dim value that I can call up elsewhere in my macro.
