Vlookup Find A Particular Code In One Sheet
Jul 20, 2009I am using the Vlookup function to find a particular code in one sheet then give me the cost data that is associated with that code and put it into a similar cell in another sheet. It will work fine if I use (for example) A2 to E39 as my table_array. This would be fine if I only had 38 rows of data to look for the code on. However I have thousands of rows of data that need to be checked. Therefore when I change the table array to anything greater than E40, the vlookup will not work and it will only return a value of zero instead of the actual cost data. This is very weird and does not make sense that anything is wrong.
The only thing I can think of is that the vlookup function has a limit on the number of rows that it can look for data in. However, I did not think that it had a limit at all.
Using Vlookup To Find Text On Different Sheet?
Apr 14, 2014I know vlookup can find specific text in a column when the formula resides on the same sheet. But for my actual application (a 15 page price list) I was attempting to use vlookup on sheet 2 and have it find specific text on sheet 1. Note that sheet 1 will be having additional rows added through out the table over time, so vlookup cannot use a specific cell location.
My attached example can simulate the problem by sorting the table by name (A-Z).

The match I am looking for is used in several rows of coulmn G on sheet1. I only want cell E2 on sheet2 to give me total amount from data in coulmn E of sheet1 when a match is found in coulmn G of sheet1.

The data on all the other worksheets is input manually and the lay-out is identical on each sheet. What I want to do is a Vlookup on the summary sheet for every sheet in the workbook, but without typing VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet1A:C,3,0)+VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet2A:C,3,0) etc etc (my sheets aren't actually called Sheet 1/2/3 etc, they have specific names).

Cell A1 Sheet1 will be variable and I need to find the same value on Sheet2 in all that data and copy the number in the cell to the right to the clipboard. For example:
If Sheet1 A1 = 120200 1885 I want to find 120200 1885 on Sheet2 and copy 42.43 to the clipboard
Or if it's 130133 1887 I want "x" copied to the clipboard and so on.
I think I want to have a macro "Find" the cell and copy the one next to it, but I don't know the syntax to do that. The macro recorder only takes me part way.
I can't figure out how to make a VLOOKUP formula work, as there's way more than 65,000 lines to make a lookup table out of the data.

How can I find out what row or cell address that the VLOOKUP found the data? The above code works perfectly but the problem is I need data from that same row in columns 4-11. I replicated the .Cells line above and made each one a VLOOKUP (for column 4, 5, 6, etc...) but this kills the performance. I have around 32,000 rows in sheet 0MATERIAL and around 50,000 rows within sheet 0MAT_UNIT

The problem that a Vlookup is not working for me is because I want it to be the exact text from sheet2 column1 but in sheet1 column 1 it should not be exact as it might have some extra text as seen in the illustration above
VLOOKUP For Multiple Data On 1 Sheet?
Jan 14, 2009Can you use VLOOKUP or a similar formula to lookup and add (or even better average) multiple data from one sheet?. For example the source sheet holds certain codes for each of our agents and I need the total of one particular code for each agent and then eventually work out the average for the day. But as the source sheet can hold 30+ agents it would be a long and tedious job to do seperate Vlookup's (especially as we are backdating the last year!).
I have attached a snapshot of the source data to try to explain what I need better.
From that source data I need to get the total/average of all the 101 codes.

E.g.: In master data tab, I have (PID,EMP ID,Name,Address,Join Date, Exit Date). Now i am trying to get the PID & Address from another tab called "PID,Address". To get the PID & address, i will use EMP ID as reference to fetch data.
Similarly, I have to pull Join & Exit dates from the tab "Dates Sheet" with same EMP ID.
I have a home tab, wherein I have a button which is assigned a macro to reconcile the data.
I know that I can do this with simple vlookup for all the columns, but the actual data is very huge and it may vary daily. So its time consuming process. So i want to this reconciliation (consolidation) using macro. How to generate a macro.

I am trying to have it such that the excel matches the extension number given on the first sheet with the ones that I extracted from the document on the second and output the location into the first column on the first sheet. The code I have set up for that process is:

I then want the excel to cross check the information that I took from the Visio to see if the visio is up to date with the latest info we have received (Which is the data on the first page under Extension and Name). The code:

Both codes seem to be giving me this: #N/A as the results for every cell.. I'm using MS 2010

The simplest of ways I guess would be the .xldown function however this seems to copy the blank cells as well as the cells with data, which is no good. I have therefore written code as below which finds the first cell with data, copies and pastes, then loops.
How do I set the loop to look at the next cell down from the initial copied cell and if there is data in it to paste it into the cell underneath the one I have just pasted into?

Name Range Of Worksheets And Find Duplicate Data In Column In Each Sheet
Jun 11, 2013I have made up 7 worksheets that are completely identical with exception of course to the data they contain. I have a master sheet that contains some of the data from each of the other sheets that will be shared between them. Things were working very well until I discovered that some data was duplicated on a couple of the sheets; and I am in need of adding more worksheets.
The formula I am using for this will not allow me to have more than the 7 worksheets. It is an IF statement array. So now I am wondering how will I be able to add these extra sheets. I would like to use my worksheet names in a range but have evidently done something wrong and could not get that to work before, ending up with this very long 'IF'. !Can worksheet names be used to create a named range?
Also, I would like to know if there is a way to prevent duplicate data on these sheets. I am using conditional formatting on each sheet now, but that of course only works on the current sheet.
Find Related Data From Another Sheet & Copy Values From Left
Mar 30, 2008Im going to try to make this as clear as possible. I cant use my actual data because it wouldnt make any sense to anyone so Ive made up an example problem. Here goes...
Lets say in Sheet 1 I have two descending columns of data. Column A is MODEL of Vehicle (Civic for example). Column B is vehicle identification number (xxx for example). Sheet two has 4 columns of data, but only one is really required for this example. Cell A1 is the MAKE of vehicle (Honda for example). Directly below that in Cell A2 is the MODEL of the vehicle (Civic). There are then a few rows of empty space until it gets to the next vehicle MAKE and MODEL.
So in Sheet1 there is a long list of MAKE's in ColumnA and VIN's in ColumnB. Sheet2 Has a long list of MAKE's and MODEL's in ColumnA and random data in other columns.
What I want to do is assemble a Macro to start in Sheet1-A2, read the MODEL then copy the corresponding Vehicle Identification Number in B2. I then want it to go to Sheet2-A2 and start searching downward until it comes across a matching MODEL. Once it finds the match I want it to step downward 2 cells and paste the Vehicle Identification Number. Then return to Sheet1-A3, and repeat the process until EOF.
Search To Find Matching Cells And Copy/transpose Adjacent Data To Original Sheet?
Nov 12, 2009I'm trying to find a way to search a second sheet in a workbook for specific criteria outlined in a first sheet (in my attached example, from A3 downwards within the 'list of search criteria' sheet), and then to copy any secondary data found against a successful search match to the original sheet, transposed against its corresponding matched search term.
As you can see in the example, the search term 'bindi' (A4 in the 'list of search criteria' sheet) appears in the 'data' sheet 3 times - the secondary data for these occurences ('feathery', 'Fibonacci', 'glassy') is copied to the 'bindi' row on the first sheet and is offset with each copy to produce a transposed-esque effect of copy and paste.
If it's any help, there are a maximum of 9 matches for a single search term in the real document.
