Trying to determine the best way to do this. I understand that the standard AVERAGE function will ignore blanks if given a range; the function I'm using does a search for a particular value to determine if a value is to be included in the averaging: ...
I have a column of numbers that are derived with a formula. I need to Average only the ones that either have a Positive or Negative number, ignoring blanks or zero.
I have tried Search but couldn't find anything that address both blank and zero.
Otherwise sum the contents of Bf6:BH6 and divide by the number of cells that are not empty in the range U6:W6 (to get an average of only the values in that range not including blanks).
I am using a simple SUM formula like this, =SUM(D10:E10). I would like for the SUM cell to be left blank until a value is entered into the cells D10. Currently it calculates the SUM as 0.
I want to count back the last 6 cells in column S which has data (ignoring any blank cells) and add them up.
My data is ranging betwen S62:S143 (with S144 being the cell that I want to show the total for the last 6 cells with data). I have column headings and various other bits of data from S1:S61 that I want to exclude completely but need to keep for historical purposes.
Here is an example of some of the data in column S:
I have tried adding a negative and positive number on the end of the COUNTA formula but all it does is count all the cells within that given heigh range, not a specific number of cells with data.
I don't specifically need to use SUM. As long as I get a total.
I have a column of week numbers but some gaps in the list (e.g. the job is complete and so I do not want to reference it) I am trying to create a list of jobs by week number. I need to sequentially number jobs to then use Vlookup e.g. job1-week1 job2-week1 etc to display be week.
I can work out to number the list ignoring the blanks but then resetting to 1 with each new week?
I'm using the above formula to join text from columns Z through AC, separated by a comma. I now want to remove the comma at the end of the new string. Also, I would prefer it if the four cells were separated by a slash rather than a comma, but when I simply replace the commas in the formula with slashes I get an error.
I have a set up of investments. Say A1 through to G1. Then on the next row the investments range from A1 to G1 again. This continues down many rows. There are spaces such as D1 and D2 through E2.
A B C D E F G 1 ausbil........................
Starting in column H, I would like to list the investments but ignore investments that have already appeared on the row (ie list only the first occurence) and ignore the blanks as well. For example, D1, E1, F1 are to be ignored because of the blank, and the fact that ausbil and amp already appear. In row 2, the blanks in D2 and E2 are ignored as well as the repeated 'amp' in F2. So the table should look like below from column H:
H I J K 1 ausbil amp vanguard bt 2 amp becton fidelity bt
Is there a simple formula for this? It has to be in rows as I have at least 60 columns of data before these columns begin. There are at least 300 rows.
I am wanting to have a sheet that I use for reporting based on another sheet in the workbook but I want to exclude items that are closed.
The first sheet will contain all rows of data with a status column of either Open, On Hold or Closed In the second sheet I only want to have listed the items which are Open or On Hold, I want to ignore the closed items.
In the example enclosed, I only want rows 2,4,6 and 7, but NOT 3 and 5 due to status.
I have a spreadsheet with a bunch of formulas in Cells B4:E100 in Sheet1. Many of the formulas will show up blank information in the event I do not have any data in Column A. I then have formulas which perform a similar function in Cells G4:Q100, S4:AC100, AE4:AO100 & AQ4:BA100.
What I need to do is to take the data from the last 4 sets of cells (G4:Q100, S4:AC100, AE4:AO100 & AQ4:BA100) and stack then one on top of the other into Sheet2 starting in Cell A2. I need the code however to be smart enough to realize that if there are blanks which exist in any of those sets of cells to skip over to the next set of data I which to copy and start pasting that set of information without leaving any blanks.
So far example, if I only have data between Cells A4:A25, I want the VBA code to go only through cells G4:Q25 and then start pasting without any spaces S4:AC25 and so on.
the problem is that when both if statements are true i want it to get the row number, this is because table1 has blank rows (can not be avoided as the data is linked from a closed workbook)
i can see this works up until it meets the first blank row and i get #value error.
on table1 data exists on row 1,2,5 and 8 so my problem is getting the small function k to report these numbers?
I am trying to create a weighted average which will skip any row when Column B say's "yes" and then if Column N contains, a 0, I would like that to be skipped as well. The below works for skipping any row with the word "Yes", but it still includes 0 in the weighted average. Also, let's say the Column N contains a word and 0's, how can I skip that?
If I have a formula which adds the value of each day of the week and divides by 7 to get an average per day, how do i fix it to get an average if their is a holiday so their would only be 6 days without changing the formula as the holidays could change from week to week by province. =(a+b+c+d+e+f+g)/7 what happens if "e" is a holiday and I need to divide by 6, or in the case of xmas if "d and e" are holidays and I need to divide by 5?
I'm trying to return the average, min and max values of a range that will have errors, be blank or have zeros. I have already found an array formula that works getting rid of the errors but the zeros are now a problem.
{=AVERAGE(IF(NOT(ISERROR(D27:G27)),D27:G27))}
I was thinking that an OR might be needed but for the life of me can't figure out where it belongs. I will also be using this formula with both MIN and MAX in the adjacent cells so it would be great if all I have to do is swap those in for AVERAGE. I'm not keen on how array formulas work, just found an example similar to this on the interwebs, and I'm curious why if the array brackets are removed the value returned is 0 and not an error.
Workbook is proprietary so VB is locked and not an option (not sure if it was but wanted to be clear).
What I have is a spreadsheet with a whole bunch of sporting data on it. see attachment for an idea of the layout, Stats.jpg
In these data each round a player is given a rating. What I want to do is calculate is the average rating for each player across the last 3 and 5 games they have played. When a player misses a game they get a rating of 0 for the round. I want 0 ratings to be ignored in the running averages. Additionally, games yet to be played have a 0 in the cell and should be ignored. To get overall averages ignoring 0's was simple I used the averageif function, but I couldn't figure out how to use that but only extract the last 3 non 0 values. I currently have data up to round 12, so if a player has played in 12, 11 and 10 then the 3 round average should just be the average of these 3, but if they missed for example round 11 then the 3 round average should return the average of 9, 10 and 12.
The data is set out in the following way.
In column B I have a list of player names from cells B3:B618.
Across row 1 from N1:AM1 are labels "round 1" "round 2" etc.
The ratings for each player in each round are in N-AM and from 3-618. i.e. N3:AM3 contains the weekly rating for player 1, 4 contains player 2 etc.
I would like the 3 round averages to be returned for each player in column L and 5 round averages in column M.
However, in some cases, the cell to be looked-up may be blank. Using the formula above, the result of these vlookups is "0". I want to take the average of these vlookups excluding the blanks from the 'Raw Data' sheet.
I need to average the columns of data and ignore both hidden rows and zero values. I have tried writing if statements as well as the subtotal function. Both functions either ignore null values or hidden rows but not both.
The system wont let me update a sample workbook but Im wondering whether there is a formula or combo formula for this.
I'm using an arrays AVERAGE(IF( to average several scores from one spreadsheet to another. However, if I have 30 employees, 1 may have no score, and I don't want that no score to factor into the average, but with the above array, it does. Specifically, I get the wrong average for Score A, but the right one for Overal Score. See attached sample.
I want to figure a class average for a test, but I have students that have moved. My Excel is automatically counting them as a zero. How can I program/tell Excel to skip any blanks rather than count them in the average?
I am trying to make a excell spread sheet that will calculate my students averages for the year. I need to account for zeros in the coarse and I want this excel sheet to track the current average all year long . So I do not need to include my blanks in the average as I go. Also , how do I formulate my average accum to show this formula - Test scores, four of them count as 80% of the total grade. So each test is worth 20% / Lab 10% of total grade and homework is additional 10%. I downloaded the templete from MSN and have tweaked it to my liking except for the coding above. Please advise. I am a below par on Excel. My attachemtn is below of my templete. One note. the templete gave me the room to include 13 ros of homework - but I will not necessarily use all of them... I can make it one row for home work only ....
Attached is an xls with my formulas and problem. We need a way to factor in zeros in grading student workers. However, we also need a way to omit blank or null cells if the workers did not do a particular project. The formulas currently in the sheet compute zeros for both scenarios, lowering the overall 'grade' for workers who didn't do a project compared with workers who did the project but got a '0'
I have run into a problem with the array formula. After inserting formula with the CTRL+SHFT+Enter it is giving me the same sum to the 3 cells that I had array formulas in but trying to capture different data from what was in the capturing column. Example:
If row F consists of text types: Move-in, Mid Year, and Year End as potential options, and row G is the score for that text type(cells will consist percentages), give me the average of all the cells in row G that are specific to Move-In only, but don't include the blanks in the average.
My existing formula isn't designated to exclude the blanks. how to exclude blanks and how to get it to stop giving me the same result in the three separate cells. My current formula is as such: {=AVERAGE(IF(F2:F73=E76, H2:H73))}

Basically what I want to achieve is the average % of Dec 11 (D11:D22 on the sheet im working on) scores but excluding any blank fields (not excluding potential scores of 0%)
how do I perform calculations on the last x non-blank instances in a data range? for example, let's say I have a spreadsheet of 5 baseball players' batting averages (rows are team game number played, columns are at bats and hits for each player). I want to see how each player has performed in their last 10 games played, but some players have not played in every game. If I just use the sum function for the last 10 cells, I won't get the correct information for any player that has missed one or more of the last 10 games.
