Sumproduct Ignoring Keyword And Skipping Zeros / Blanks And Words

Oct 25, 2013

I am trying to create a weighted average which will skip any row when Column B say's "yes" and then if Column N contains, a 0, I would like that to be skipped as well. The below works for skipping any row with the word "Yes", but it still includes 0 in the weighted average. Also, let's say the Column N contains a word and 0's, how can I skip that?

=SUMPRODUCT(($B$13:$B$15="Yes")*($I$13:$I$15)*(N13:N15))/SUMIF($B$13:$B$15,"Yes",$I$13:$I$15)

Skipping Zeroes And Blanks

Jul 18, 2013

How you can find the min with simpler ranges, but my equation doesn't work with what I've found so far. I want to skip the zeroes and blanks.

=IF(AC44>0,(MIN((FS13+FL13),(FS18+FL18),(FS23+FL23),(FS28+FL28),(FS$417+FL$417),
(FS$422+FL$422),(FS$427+FL$427),(FS$432+FL$432))) ,)

Skipping Blanks In If Statements

A00956
ABT

DUK

CASH-1

The above column is in a spreadsheet I am working on. I would like to write a formula that looks at this column and returns all of the cells that are not blank (ie: A00956, ABT, DUK and CASH-1) I don't know how to have the formula skip the blank cells (the cells are blank but not empty).

Average Skipping Cells AND Not Counting Zeros?

Oct 31, 2012

Here are my cells and values

B38 C38 D38 E38 F38 G38 H38 i38 J38 k38 L38 M38 N38 O38
0.00
None
1.95
16
1.73
21
0.00
None
20.10
20
1.73
20
0.00
None

What I would like to do is average only every other cell AND also not count zeros. So =average(B38,D38,F38,J38,L38) generally the idea not averaging H38 & N38 since they are both zeros.

Lookup Based On One Criteria & Skipping Blanks

Feb 17, 2009

I'm looking for a formula for return a result only when one other criteria is met. I've looked at SUMPRODUCT and VLOOKUP as options but haven't been able to make them work. Here is what I need:

I want cell E33 to look up cell B33 in 'Test Result Table' and return the 12th column of information, but only when cell C33 and 3rd column in 'Test Result Table' match. If the first result isn't a match I want the lookup to skip it and return the first available match.

I don't want to add anything, I just need a match returned based on C33 and the 3rd column being equal (cell C33 is a VLOOKUP of the 3rd column in 'Test Result Table').

Using =MODE And Ignoring Zeros

Nov 3, 2009

I need a formula that will find the mode from a range of numbers but ignore the 0's. I have worked out the below array formula which seems to work.

{=IF(MODE(IF(N18:P25>0,N18:P25))=1,"Low",IF(MODE(IF(N18:P25>0,N18:P25))=2,"Secure",IF(MODE(IF(N18:P2 5>0,N18:P25))=3,"High")))}

The only thing is, if only one cell contains a number other than 0 (eg. 1,2 or 3) then it returns #N/A. Ideally i'd like it to show the appropriate response for the number that is in the number range. For example - if one cell shows the number 2 and the rest are 0's, i'd like it to show Secure(the response for 2) rather than #N/A.

Column B, all non duplicates, where normally we have one zero.

I want the result from Column B in other sheet like that:

SheetA, Column B: 637,635,663,0,618.

SheetB, Column A, RowX: 618;635;637;663.

Average While Ignoring Zeros And Errors?

Feb 14, 2013

I'm trying to return the average, min and max values of a range that will have errors, be blank or have zeros. I have already found an array formula that works getting rid of the errors but the zeros are now a problem.

{=AVERAGE(IF(NOT(ISERROR(D27:G27)),D27:G27))}

I was thinking that an OR might be needed but for the life of me can't figure out where it belongs. I will also be using this formula with both MIN and MAX in the adjacent cells so it would be great if all I have to do is swap those in for AVERAGE. I'm not keen on how array formulas work, just found an example similar to this on the interwebs, and I'm curious why if the array brackets are removed the value returned is 0 and not an error.

Workbook is proprietary so VB is locked and not an option (not sure if it was but wanted to be clear).

SUM Last 6 Cells With Data (ignoring Blanks In Between)

Aug 8, 2014

I want to count back the last 6 cells in column S which has data (ignoring any blank cells) and add them up.

My data is ranging betwen S62:S143 (with S144 being the cell that I want to show the total for the last 6 cells with data). I have column headings and various other bits of data from S1:S61 that I want to exclude completely but need to keep for historical purposes.

Here is an example of some of the data in column S:

56
BLANK CELL
BLANK CELL
BLANK CELL
45
34
BLANK CELL
BLANK CELL
37
BLANK CELL
BLANK CELL
42
BLANK CELL
46
49
BLANK CELL
BLANK CELL
36
35

This is my formula so far:

=SUM(OFFSET(S62,0,0,COUNTA(S62:S143)))

I have tried adding a negative and positive number on the end of the COUNTA formula but all it does is count all the cells within that given heigh range, not a specific number of cells with data.

I don't specifically need to use SUM. As long as I get a total.

List First Instance Only Ignoring Blanks In ROWS

Dec 11, 2008

I have a set up of investments. Say A1 through to G1. Then on the next row the investments range from A1 to G1 again. This continues down many rows. There are spaces such as D1 and D2 through E2.

A
B
C
D
E
F
G
1
ausbil........................

Starting in column H, I would like to list the investments but ignore investments that have already appeared on the row (ie list only the first occurence) and ignore the blanks as well. For example, D1, E1, F1 are to be ignored because of the blank, and the fact that ausbil and amp already appear.
In row 2, the blanks in D2 and E2 are ignored as well as the repeated 'amp' in F2. So the table should look like below from column H:

H
I
J
K
1
ausbil
amp
vanguard
bt
2
amp
becton
fidelity
bt

Is there a simple formula for this? It has to be in rows as I have at least 60 columns of data before these columns begin. There are at least 300 rows.

Copy And Paste Using VBA Ignoring Blanks And Stacking Data

Jun 15, 2012

I have a spreadsheet with a bunch of formulas in Cells B4:E100 in Sheet1. Many of the formulas will show up blank information in the event I do not have any data in Column A. I then have formulas which perform a similar function in Cells G4:Q100, S4:AC100, AE4:AO100 & AQ4:BA100.

What I need to do is to take the data from the last 4 sets of cells (G4:Q100, S4:AC100, AE4:AO100 & AQ4:BA100) and stack then one on top of the other into Sheet2 starting in Cell A2. I need the code however to be smart enough to realize that if there are blanks which exist in any of those sets of cells to skip over to the next set of data I which to copy and start pasting that set of information without leaving any blanks.

So far example, if I only have data between Cells A4:A25, I want the VBA code to go only through cells G4:Q25 and then start pasting without any spaces S4:AC25 and so on.

Array Formula Not Ignoring Blanks To Count Row Number?

=IF(ROWS(A$11:A13)1,IF(MSB!$A13"",SMALL(ROW(Table1[APP DATE])-ROW(MSB!$A$11)+1,ROWS(A$11:A13)),""))))

the problem is that when both if statements are true i want it to get the row number, this is because table1 has blank rows (can not be avoided as the data is linked from a closed workbook)

i can see this works up until it meets the first blank row and i get #value error.

on table1 data exists on row 1,2,5 and 8 so my problem is getting the small function k to report these numbers?

Displaying Zeros Instead Of Blanks After IF(Vlookuo....)

Jan 4, 2010

I am working on a large spreadsheet (done by somebody other than I) that has a lot of vlookups and IF commands. If it sees that there is nothing present in the lookup, then it simply returns a blank cell. I could do with it showing a zero instead of the blank cell. The cell appears not to be empty and I am not familier enough with excel to get it to do what I want.

This is a typical forumla that either gives a figure if something is present, or simply returns no data / text but excel doesn't see the cell as empty.

=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP($A25,'Jul 09'!$B$1:$C$2000,2,FALSE/100))," ",(VLOOKUP($A25,'Jul 09'!$B$1:$C$2000,2,FALSE/100)))

Is there anything obvious from that formula that can be modified, or is it a much deeper problem?
