check out the COUNTIFS function on Data Tables Sheet -> Cell D29 and pls. let me know what's going on. I need is : To calculate the number of items on system data tab which has the "Pending" status and items which belongs to month "Jan-10" under a particular person selected from B 27 cell (Data tables tab).
I solved it by using >=01-01-10 and <=31-01-10 criteria but i don't think its nice idea .... I tried to use AND(function by got failed ...........
I need to count certain data if they match the same week number but they are not highlighted in red (manual colour not conditional formating). I have a macro that allows me to count cells with a certain colour but I cannot seem to tell it to only to count them if it also meets the criteria of relating to the same week.
Can i somehow combine these to functions or do I need to add soemthing to the countifcolour macro?

The code hides fields within a collumn based on the tag within the checkbox's properties. Now I am trying to create an addition that will add criteria to a CountIf formula in real time.
I have the following formula in a sheet to record basketball stats that I am putting together.
=COUNTIFS('Running Game Log'!A:A,"=Jarod",'Running Game Log'!C:C,"=2 pt miss")
This formula counts from a list that is generated during in-game recording of stats & obviously counts the number of times "Jarod" misses a "2 pt shot".
My question is can the criteria "Jarod" refer to a value in a cell, rather than the specific name "Jarod" as I want to be able to change player names easily, rather than have to edit this formula every time.
I know this should be straightforward, but just can't "hack the logic", whether using "Countifs" oor "SumProduct" formulae.

I need the formula that totals number of rows meeting three criteria: (a) A specific date from Col A (b) A specific number from Col B And the part I can't sort out: (c) Any cell containing a "string" in Col C (so needs to count the "core" even if it has a prefix or suffix).
E.g. How many rows have "Date x" in Col A, "Route Y" in Col B and a cell containing "123" in Col C?
I'm trying to use the COUNTIFS function & have run into trouble because the 2nd criteria is a date. Typically I would just set the range & then put "01/01/2014" if I was looking for all of the January 1, 2014 cells. However in this spreadsheet my source data contains the date with the time. (01/01/2014 11:27:39 AM). Becasue the time is included in the cell, the function returns no results when I set teh date.
I tried to use a wild card "01/01/2014*" which I thought would bypass the time but it still retuns no results. Is there a way to use a windcard with a date cell?
Need to use CountIFs formula to evaluate multiple conditions in the same column. Here is the formula I tried. It works for Resolved but returns 0 when i try to add Duplicate.
Also used this formula with success by referencing a cell that had "Resolved" in it but when I tried to add another cell with "Duplicate" it again returned 0.

This formula counts values on my data sheet based on the specified criteria. I have this broken ito 3 section, each section that needs to be summed.
Section 1 can not be greater than 165, if it is all the values in the range needs to be reset to 0 Section 2 can not be greater than 190, but at the same time can not be less than 166, else is need to be reset to 0. How would I adjust the above mentioned formula to check these criteria?
I need to look at a series of data once per week and calculate the results. I'm trying to use COUNTIFS to get a result based on both the date I'm doing the analysis for and for the response.

I need a COUNTIFS function (I think that will be the best function to use at least). I have a two columns of data, column one is dates (mm/dd/yyyy) and column two is states (AK, MA, MI, etc). I am tracking total man hours of contractors in columns of different rates applicable. At present I have structured my worksheet with the different rates across and days going down. As I am invoiced for a period of work I will log the invoice ref number in a separate field. I would like to sum totals to report against $ Invoiced and $ Committed (i,e worked but not actually invoiced against yet).
Here is an example of what I am trying to achieve. The Actual showing sum mhrs * rate only for the mhrs entries with an invoice in corresponding Invoice Ref Column. The Committed producing sum of all mhrs * rate [which I am using =(SUM(D9:D37)*D7)] regardless of what is in invoice ref column.
This way I can hopefully track what we have been billed and also what we can expect to have to budget for to cover what has been worked but not billed against.
how to use SUM Formula a column from within a Named Ranges or Dynamic Named Range? For example, if the range name "MyData" refers to the address: A1:G10, how could I sum all the numbers in column G of that range where column A meets certain criteria.
Eg., Column A holds fruit names: Apple Orange Banana Apple
and column G holds quantities of the particular fruit. I'd like to sum column G (quantity) for only those quantities that match "Apple" in column A.
I am using the formula to count if c- is in the cells: =COUNTIF($B2:$U2,"C-")
However, I need to change the formula so rather than just count if C- is in the cells, I need it to count if A*, A+,A, A-, or B+ are in the cell instead.
I am looking for a replacement to the function COUNTIFS that will work with Excel 97-03. I have attached a sample of the document which will hopefully demonstrate what I am trying to achieve. On the sheet labelled 'Data' there is four headings (MerRefs, JCPRefs, Self Refs and Other) for the results beneath these headings I have used the Countifs function. I have attempted to use the SUMIF as an array formula but couldn't get this to work.
Also in the hope of killing two birds with one stone, I created this in Excel 2007 and in the past when I have saved documents as 97-03 documents it used to warn me of any incompatible functions included within the doc and now it doesent. Where can I switch that setting on?
I'm trying to do a COUNTIFS for a set of data. What I want it to do is pull everything that is assigned to a certain person that has no date in one column, and information in another. For example:

So based on this dataset, I would get the number 2 for Michelle (row 2 and 5 have no date in column B and a comment in column C). I've tried a few variations and can't seem to make it work right.
I have a list of information regarding jobs that need to be carried out by a number of companies by a number of dates. What I want to count is the number of jobs that company A need to caary out by a specific date and then the number that company B need to carry out by the same date. The formula basically needs to say countif column a equals company A and column C equals 11/11/09. I have tried numerous combinations of IF, Countif, SUMif, And etc but can't get the formula to work,
If column A=a AND column B=1, add column B on the same axis. I can only get a function that adds all B column if A=a. The function should equal 3. Cells B1, B2 and B6 should be the only ones counted.
