Combining Data Onto A Master Spreadsheet

Jan 15, 2009

i just want a macro to run over 4 sheets and combine onto one. I found this code -

Sub masterer()

if sheets(1).name "Master" Then
Sheets.Add before:=Sheets(1)
ActiveSheet.Name = "Master"
end if
For i = 2 To Worksheets.Count
Sheets(i).Columns("A:G").Copy
Cells(1, (i - 2) * 7 + 1).Select
ActiveSheet.Paste
Next

End Sub
This places all data in a line in row 1. Can the code be easily changed so
it puts each line from each worksheet onto a new row. So i have one big list of data ranging from columns A:G

Combining All Data Tables Into One Master Table

Apr 10, 2014

I have 10 workbooks that each contain a table of data. Each table is consistent in format and headings.

I need to group all 10 tables into one big table. I do not want to merge or combine data just simply have all the data in one master table.

Previously I have used named ranges and arrays to copy them in but this seems cumbersome and thought there must be an easier way to do it.

Master Spreadsheet Pulls Variable File Name Data

Jan 22, 2014

I'm creating a master spreadsheet and I want it to pull live data from other spreadsheets depending on a variable.

I've a cell that has a variable date. I've files saved that have this variable attached to it in the name format: 'filename variable'.

I want to pull data, hopefully live, from workbooks based on this variable.

For example, I have files: generic 01212014, generic 01222014, generic 01232014.

The date is stored in the master workbook say in A1 that I can manipulate by entering a different date to pull data from a different workbook.

='[generic 01212014.xlsm]Database'!$L$3
='[generic 01222014.xlsm]Database'!$L$3
='[generic 01232014.xlsm]Database'!$L$3

There has to be away to make the bolded portions of the file name variable, right?

Import Received Sheet Of Data To Master Spreadsheet

Jul 12, 2013

Every week I receive a sheet of data that I need to import into my master spreadsheet. The problem is I have to adjust the data I receive to import it unless there's a better way of doing it. I'm trying to automate both the modification and the importing of this sheet. I've tried to create a macro to modify and import without any success.

To adjust the spreadsheet I receive I need to: delete or find a way to exclude the first 3 rows, the bottom row with data stating "complete" and columns C,D&E from being imported; change font, size, color, bold to match the main spreadsheet in addition to formatting; split data in column A and remove any special characters. Formatting is important because I have to be able to easily remove duplicates. Also, the number of rows in the sheet I receive changes weekly.

I've attached a workbook with sample data. The first sheet is representative of what my master looks like, the second is what I sent and the third what I've been modifying it to and then importing. As stated before, I'd like to have my master automatically update with the sheet I sent, but I'm at a loss having to reformat everything every week before importing. Having the sheet that's sent to me revised before I receive isn't an option. What's the best way to automate this?

Search For A File And Bring Back Data To Master Spreadsheet

May 22, 2008

To set up the problem, I have a folder that contains files that are all named numerically, ex. 08-100, 08-101, etc. Each file is identical in format but contains different data, ex. cell B1 is alway "material weight", cell B2 is always "estimated man hours" and new files are added weekly.

I am trying to set up a master spreadsheet that all I have to do is enter the file name (08-102) in the first column, and the second column will return the data in a specific cell of that file.

Data Extraction Multiple Workbooks And Sheets To Master Spreadsheet

Mar 20, 2009

I have directory with multiple workbooks. Each workbook contains multiple sheets (sheet 1, sheet 2, etc). On each sheet of the workbook, there are various data. The data I am looking to extract from these sheets are in the same cell of each sheet. (See data sheet –datasheet.xls). If I can extract these data without opening the file, it would be preferred. Otherwise, opening the workbook, extract the data, and then close the workbook is acceptable.

Desired Solution:

I would like the assistance to create a macro that will extract data from each sheet of the workbook in the directory at a time until all the workbooks and sheets within the directory are read. The macro shall extract data from cell B5, B6, B10:B20, and sheet name from each sheet of the workbook and copy these data to an active sheet called “US” on workbook, DesireResult.xls. The DesireResult.xls shows how the data should be copied over. Before copying the data to the DesireResult.xls workbook, the macro will prompt the user to enter a cell on the “US” sheet as the starting point to paste the information to. Prompting the user to enter the beginning cell shall happen only once and not for each workbook or sheet being read. The reason for this is because the “US” sheet will already have other data in it. After reading each sheet, the macro shall leave a blank row at the end. The data from the next sheet shall be pasted below the blank row. Note: all the workbooks contain macro and link to other file. When opening each workbook, the macro should automatically choose not to update the links.

Combining Sheets From Multiple Workbooks Into Master

Sep 17, 2009

I have several workbooks that supervisors in a call center use to grade calls for quality.

Each supervisor has a seperate workbook, and after scoring the call, the supervisor runs a vb script that copies all of the data from the worksheet "observation" onto "sheet1" for storing the data.

So now I want to use another workbook to:

1. Copy each sheet1 from all of the supervisor workbooks onto a sheet named "cumulative" in a different workbook.

In a perfect world it would also:
2. Keep a count of how many observations were done by each supervisor each day
3. Keep a count of how many have been done week to date
4. Keep a count how many have been done total since January 1, 2009

Each workbook is kept on a network drive at s:supervisorsqadata and named - for example QAformMelissa.xls

I'm okay with keeping the master sheet in the same directory if that makes it easier to accomplish this.

Updating A Master Spreadsheet From Other Spreadsheets

Jul 19, 2009

I'm on a BTEC in college and my tutor wants me to create 3 spreadsheets, one of them is a Master spreadsheet which shows each pupils grade for each module, their over all end year grade and how many UCAS points that grade will earn them. The other two sheets are for the modules which will have the grades of the pupils in that lesson, Pass, Merit, Destinction or Fail. I hope you're still with me... I've attached an example of one of the 'Slave' spreadsheets as I call them.

My problem is that I can't seem to find a way of doing all this without constant nesting of COUNTIF. The code I have for my 'Unit1' spreadsheet's grade is:

"=IF(COUNTIF(B3:G3,"x")=6,IF(COUNTIF(H3:J3, "x")=3, IF(COUNTIF(K3:M3, "x")=3, "Distinction", "Merit"), "Pass"), "Fail")"

It works, but it's very messy. If this sounds confusing I apologise, the attached documents should clear some of the confusion up. Once the smaller spreadsheets work, the Master needs to use them to update it's cells. If someone has a Merit grade in 'Unit 1', the Master needs to show it too by somehow linking the 'Grade' cell from 'Unit1' to the 'Grade' cell in the Master spreadsheet.

Looping Macro To Populate Master Spreadsheet?

Feb 11, 2013

I have a number of spreadsheets, all of the same format, saved into ("C:Email Attachments").

I wish to populate a master workbook, using a macro to loop through all of the workbooks in that folder, copying all of the data (Starting at B52-Q52) using Selection.End.Down, as the row count is always different and pasting it into the master workbook. Sometimes there may only be one row, so an IF statement may be required, to say if there is nothing in B53 then don't do Selection.End.Down. The overall result would be for all of the data from each spreadsheet is detailed as one big list in the master spreadsheet.

Individual Contributor Tabs From A Master Spreadsheet

Jan 8, 2010

From a master (data entry) spreadsheet of work projects, I'd like to automatically create a tab for each individual contributor that lists all projects they are involved with. The thing is that being a contributor can mean being the lead, assisting with, or being the technician on the project (all columns in the master). To make the individual tabs easier to read, it'd be great to have that tab's contributor name in red, wherever it happens to fall in the various columns.

I've created an example that's a little simpler than reality - in real life there would be 20 tabs for the individual contributors and instead of 3 "Assist" columns there would be 20 columns.

I want to get basic statistics (mean and standard deviation) of the squirrel's nocturnal body temperature, that is for times when it is night (value 45). The tricky part is that Date/Time of both spreadsheets are different. The procedure has to recognize that the date/time of body temperature lies between the beginning and end of the value 45 blocks of the first spreadsheet.

I have named cell ranges in each of the 4 time-sheets. I proceed to record a macro, select the first named range, copy and paste into my data sheet, do a control home then control down arrow, then one more down arrow to get to the first blank cell and repeat the process for all four time-sheets.

This works until I add a new line and then the data will only appear for the last time-sheet (last row of data).

Copy Data From Different Sheets Weekly Into Master List With Data Of Whole Year

Mar 8, 2014

We have folders of daily cash collections stored in such a manner, yearmonth. In every month, we will have worksheets sent by the end user to the finance dept, naming it using mmdd. (The folder in the drive will reads: C:Daily Cash Collection2013), (C:Daily Cash Collection2013 0104.xlxs), (C:Daily Cash Collection2013 0115.xlxs). I intend to put the master list outside the year folder, meaning, in the Daily Cash Collection folder (C:Daily Cash CollectionDCC_2013.xlsm). When I have a new folder for year 2014, my master list will be here (C:Daily Cash CollectionDCC_2014.xlsm)

I am looking to automate this opening of all the daily worksheets, select all data except the header row, and copy it into a master list (which will be data for the whole year, with 3 months of the previous year data).

The data in the daily sheets, it will have collections of the same Debit Note number from the file sent earlier. Meaning, if the file was sent on 0104, there is a DN0114-0002, collection of $50. In another daily sheets 0115, it will also have a collection of DN0114-0002 of $20. This 2nd information of $20 will also need to be captured as the payment in 0301 is partial and incomplete.

I will need to copy the daily sheets into the master list every now and then. Is there a way to check and copy the daily sheets and not repeating it and missed out one?

In another words, if I had already copied Jan sheets into the master list, will it look for the next worksheet that I had not copy and copy according the DN number? (it will be in running number but sometimes will have DN of the previous month due to the partial payment ealier).

Alternatively, if this is too complicated, how to insert a macro to copy all cells except the header (will be in fixed column and the first row will be fixed) from an open daily sheet, find the last row in the master list and copy it to the master list, and after copying, unclear the selection of the daily sheet and close the daily? Where can I put this macro as the daily sheet is from the end user. I can only put it into my master list, but my problem is, the file name of the daily sheet is not fixed, it depends on the day the end user saved and email the data to Finance Dept.

Copying Range Of Data Into Another Master Workbook Below Existing Data

Mar 21, 2014

I have a range of weekly data that I need to copy into another workbook, paste it below the data that already exists there and then delete the data from the original workbook. I would love to do this with vba but after hours of searching on how to do this my brain is frazzled.

I have 50 workbooks that I need to import weekly into one master sheet (Master.xlsm) but they need to be done individually after the weekly data has been checked. The master sheet will therefore have existing data and the new data needs to be appended at the bottom. Also column A will be blank in both workbooks so to find the last used row it will need to look in column B.

The number of rows in the weekly sheet will also vary rather than be a fixed range so I guess the last used row will also need to be found there too.

The attached file is a cut down version of my working file showing where the data starts on Row 14, I won't need to copy the headings.

Compare Before Spreadsheet Data To After Spreadsheet

Apr 2, 2014

Wondering if there is an easy way to compare 2 spreadsheets that should have identical data on them? The first spreadsheet (Before) has the output data from 'before' a code fix was applied. The second spreadsheet (After) has the output data from 'after' a code fix was applied. The spreadsheets have 7 columns of data and almost 500 rows.

I've already copied the data from the source datasets provided by my IT folks into Notepad (.txt) files and then used Excel to open them as fixed width spreadsheets. I have 1 workbook with 1 spreadsheet with 'before' data. And, I have 1 workbook with 1 spreadsheet 'after' data. And, I have another workbook that contains both worksheets. So, I'm ready to go whenever I get hints of what to do next. :-)

I need to be able to show my client that we did not impact the data with the code fix that was applied. I want to be able to show my client contacts (business folks) an end result via Excel that confirms that I actually compared the 2 sheets and there were no differences. In other words....I can't just show them a formula with '0' as it end result (even tho that's basically what I'm trying to prove).

I need to import key bits of this data into one central spreadsheet that will be used for reporting purposes. I only need 2 cells worth (values) from each source spreadsheet, to be pasted into the destination spreadsheet, into designated cells.

The source spreadsheets are usually closed down and kept on a file server, which my PC has access to. Ideally I want to activate this macro with a control button - i.e. I press the button once and the macro goes off and collects/updates each field with the latest data stored in each of the source spreadsheets.

Combining Data To Sheet3

Jan 19, 2010

I have been trying to work between Access and Excel and my forehead is getting bruised from the brick wall in front of my desk. I am finding Excel much more useful, but request some help with the final tasks.

Column1 of Sheet1 is an identifer. This number, in some cases is repeated which is necessary for when I include this data back into the master sheet. I make note of identifing this as 'text' as to not lose any zeros or go 'scientific'.

Column1 of Sheet2 is the same identifer but does not repeat (hence fewer rows). Column2 of Sheet2 is the city name which the identifer in Column1 is located.

I need Column1 Sheet1 repeated on Column1 Sheet3 and I need the respective city name from Column2 Sheet2 in Column2 Sheet3. Once I have this I can re-insert it into the master sheet.

The two areas I am trying to learn is if I am to use an If or a Findit, and secondly incorporating the multiple sheets.

I have attached a sample file.
