Combining Match And SUMIF

Feb 19, 2014

I have three columns (Location, Task, Time) that I want to gather information from and display on a separate page.

I've used SUMif Function to group task and time together. I want to separate this information between different Job Locations. I believe INDEX and MATCH functions need to be used??

For example: job1 will only display relative hours for that location, While Job2 location will display relative hours on a separate summary page.

ADD SUMIF To INDEX MATCH Formula

Jun 22, 2012

My spreadsheet has duplicate lookups, which I need to sum. The INDEX MATCH formula will only bring back the first amount in the list, however I need to return the sum of all the matches. I'm assuming I can include a SUMIF, however not sure how to incorporate.

Current Formula Below:

=INDEX('3.5 IFRS Instr Curr YTD in CHF'!$M$27:$CC$400,MATCH('Detail Reconciliation'!$C12,'3.5 IFRS Instr Curr YTD in CHF'!$A$27:$A$400,0),MATCH('Detail Reconciliation'!M12,'3.5 IFRS Instr Curr YTD in CHF'!$M$26:$CC$26,0))

Sumif With Index And Match Is Returning Too Many Arguments?

I am trying to sum the data in "details sheet" column H into "monthly sheet" based on the period and type match.

I am not sure where I am going wrong as the column references returned values that they should. However, the values in Col H from details sheet are not being summed up based on the criteria into monthly sheet.

I am getting zero amounts.

Compare 2 Datasets And Notify If Match Has Not Been Made Then Sumif

Aug 7, 2014

Look at the attachment below. I would like to compare two data sets;

DCLG Codes and our internal codes (all highlighted in the colour peach).

One or more of our codes can 'feed into' our parent organizations codes. Please see the Summary sheet and it will become apparent.

At the moment, I have been able to remove the duplicates from the DCLG codes and then 'marry them up' using a SUMIF function to add up all our ledger types- according to their codes.

Basically, the bottom line is that all our spending or income (The ledger Types) has to be grouped (if more than one) and reported back into their system codes.

Here's the more, possibly challenging bit....

Our system generates the ledger types and the monthly spend and year to date every month. from time to time, different ledger types may be added to the table (this will always be from our end).

We would like a way to copy and paste this data next to their table without throwing out the tables or distorting the codes that they relate to on a permanent basis.

My question/s is;

Is there a way to match and validate the data and put in an alert to notify us of the error? And then when we are happy, we could carry on as normal and generate the SUMMARY sheet.

I know of the data validation method and looking for an exact match but I was wondering if the corresponding figures would be affected in anyway.

What may be good would be to have a data dump/input area where the data is matched possibly via a VLOOKUP and anything that is not matched is displayed at the bottom of the list?

The results do not necessarily have to be like what I've suggested above. all I would like to be able to do is match the data first (and their corresponding figures) and output according to their codes. I need to be able to identify new or unmatched Ledger types.

And a report : DCLG Workbook Template Master.xlsx‎

Gather Countries From List Based On Sum (Index / Match / Large / Sumif)

Jul 2, 2013

I have a table of sales by month per account. Each account has an associated country, but there may be many duplicates of each country per month.

I want to create a formula which indexes the country field and gives me the country with the highest total sum for a specified date range. I'd like to be able to drag the formula down and have the country with the highest sales, then the second highest, and third highest, and so-on. Column ranges are specified below.

I was thinking of using an array function utilizing index, large, sumif, and match, but I am getting stuck. I'm honestly not sure if what I'm looking for is even possible, but in Excel, everything is possible, so there has to be a way!

Formula- To Pull Cell Values Similar To A SUMIF Function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range))

Oct 25, 2007

I am trying to pull cell values similar to a SUMIF function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range)). For example, in A1 I use a data list created from data elsewhere on the spreadsheet. In the data I created elsewhere, there are 2 columns being used. The 1st column is the information that is being used to create the list and the second column contains specific values (number or text). In the dropdown menu I select an available value (text or number) . When I have selected that value I would like cell A2 to show what the cell directly to the right of it shows from the data I have elsewhere in the spreadsheet as mentioned. I have tried the SUMIF function however it seems to exclude certain values (number or text) and I am not sure what else to use.

SUMIF In A Column: The First Instance Of Each SUMIF

Apr 21, 2009

I have many kitchens using the same recipes. I need to distill information down until I've got a summary of how much is being made. Uploaded is a condensed version of the point in the process I'm having difficulty with. This workbook will pull information from 8 other workbooks and give me excatly what everyone made on any weekday.

And from there, with the kind help of this forum, I figured out how to do a SUMIF based on the recipe number. And it summed up all instances of 'Recipe X' being used. However, it continues to SUMIF itself all the way down the page... which is good, because of how recipes are chosen for each kitchen. However, I only need to report one instance of each recipe.

In the uploaded example (and I apologize for the colorful sheet, but it helped me double check what I was working on.) ... I only need to report the PURPLE results elsewhere... the first instance of each SUMIF.

Is there anyway to merge these two formula's?

VLookup To Pivot Table Using Match Function - Returns Error If Can't Find Match Value

Mar 11, 2014

I am having some trouble getting a formula to work. I am building a report that pulls figures from a pivot table in another workbook. I am using a vlookup with match function to get the column index to find the relevant data I want. Where I need to add two columns together I am using sum, with the vlookup & match formulas nested in them e.g.:

=SUM(VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("FAID",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE),VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("COMM",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE),VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("BPCM",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE),VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("COMD",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE))

Where:
F13 = Employee number
Column C on the pivot 156 workbook is where the employee number is based.
The Match formula is then getting the column index from the column headings of the pivot table ie. "FAID"

This in itself works fine, as long as it finds a match in the column headings. This is where i get the error as in the above function "COMD" is not in the pivot table. However I need to keep it included as it may appear on a future pivot table. Is there a way of getting the sum function to complete even though later in the formula it can't complete the vlookup? So it will ignore it, or assume the value is zero if it can't find it? The formula probably needs to do this for all the vlookups as some headings may drop off in future pivot tables.

VLOOKUP / INDEX / MATCH Function: Match Data From 2 Independent Sets??

I am trying to match data from 2 independent sets, formatted slightly differently so not sure which function would work best for me. From the attached file, I am trying to match the date and time stamp (in cell A1) with that from the other data (in this example in cell E1) and return the data (from cell F1) to cell C1. So basically any date and time stamp before 04/03/09 04:00 will return a value of 44 (this value should appear, therefore in cells C1 - C30)

Macro That Searches For Partial Match Then Apply IF Statement Based On Match

Sep 21, 2013

I have a WB with multiple sheets. I have a Feed sheet that automatically pulls data from the web. I have a Scores sheet that currently has all head to head matchups each week for an entire season. So I want to check the cells on the Feed! sheet to find a partial match and if partial match exists then copy cell that contents score from feed sheet to the score sheet next to the appropriate teams name. Currently I have to manually enter all scores each week for the rest of my WB to update.

I need to look at Cell A3 (on the Feed sheet) which has "New York Jets" then search for a partial/similar match on the score Sheet (which is NY JETS, in this case). NY JETS could be in column B (rangeB2:B257) OR column D (rangeD2:D257) BUT I need to search by row, not column, then once a match is found check the cell to the immediate right and only if the cell is blank copy data from the (!feed) sheet to that blank cell on the (!scores) sheet

This is what happens if working right =

look at cell A3 on the (!feed) sheet = "New York Jets" then search (!scores) sheet Column B and Column D by row for a partial match, finds "NY JETS" as match in cell D8, if cell E8 is blank then copies cell H3 from (!feed) sheet, and pastes to cell E8 on the (!scores) sheet, if cell is not blank continues search until 1st blank cell to the right of matching cell is found (as there will be mutiple matching cells with blank cells to the right but I am only interested in the 1st blank cell found, once found and data copied the process is done and then starts over with cell A4)

Look at cell A4 (!feed)= "New England Patriots" then search (!scores) sheet Column B and Column D by row, finds "NEW ENGLAND" as match in cell B8, if cell C8 is blank then copies cell H4 (!feed) sheet, and paste to cell C8 (!scores)

Once this is done it moves on to the next cell in the next row on the (!feed) sheet, A5, to find a partial match for the data in that cell. I need to continue the search for each cell A3 to A74, and if no match is found to move on to the next cell A6... (based on the way the data is pulled in from the web there are some blank cells as well as some cells that say Game Final, this data won't be on the scores sheets in column B or D).

Index And / Or Match Formula With Multiple Match Required To Return A Value

Jan 21, 2014

See attached file, "Rate Sample Index-Match Formula".

I need a formula to return the value at the cross section of two (2) lookup values that match. This formula will be input into column D under, "RATE" on the 1st tab, "TEST FILE".

In the 1st tab, "TEST FILE" there are a series of columns as follows;

A = Service
B = From
C = To
D = Rate

In the 2nd tab, "RATES" there is a series of rates with drivers From (green) & To (blue)

The formula needs to do the following;

1. Lookup the "From" value in column B on tab, "TEST FILE" and match to column B2:B59 on tab, "RATES" both highlighted in green
2. Then Lookup the "To" value in column C on tab, "TEST FILE" and match to row C1:BH1 on tab, "RATES" both highlighted in blue
3. Then return the value at the cross section of the match "From" (point 1 above) & "To" (point 2 above) in range C2:BH59

For Example;

The rate From SYD To CBR = 0.33. I have highlighted this in yellow on both tabs to show where the formula needs to lookup the data to return the answer.

Additionally, if we were to add service as an additional lookup match how would this work?

VLOOKUP / INDEX And MATCH To Return All Values That Match

Feb 4, 2014

I have two sheets of data , sheet A and Sheet B.

Sheet B contains a column called "Name" and for each name, and for each name there are corresponding numbers. In sheet A, I have a "list of interest" in column A. What i want to do look through the data in sheetB to find a match from the list of interest and return the corresponding letters, located in column A.

I have filled out the first two rows of results that should be returned as an example.

One idea i had was to put a vlookup formula in each column result 1 to result 6 so i can catch all 6 "Serves" columns from column B, but there may be duplicates in the serve columns and vlookup only reports the first match.

Search A Sheet For A Match And Then Copy All The Cells To The Right Of The Match

Jul 13, 2009

I need a macro that can search a sheet for a match and then copy all 7 cells to the right of the match. I have attached an example of the sheet that will serve as the database to search, and a userform example that will be similar to the userfrom that will display the copied cells when a match is found. I plan to copy and paste the 7 cells to a different sheet so that the userform can display the results with the control source property. I do not need a way to add to this database. I know very little about searching a database so.

Match Rows And Copy Exact Match To Worksheet

But i need them get deletede by rows thos product ID that dosen't match to my workbook.

I tried with this, so it could set an X in front of my match then i could filter and copy it to my workbook but it dosen't work:
Because the same product ID is sometime in 100 rows and the X come only in front of one of them.

=IF(ISNA(MATCH(Q2:Q1000;G$2:G$1000;0));"";"X")

so with some macro. I need to have every row deleted that don't match to my list of product ID.
