View 9 RepliesIm sure this is straight forward and I've trid a few times, but I'm not quite getting what I'm after:
I have 3 differnet cells containing the following values 36 (B1), 72 (B2) and 108 (B3)
I want to look at a cell, lets say A1 and if the number is less than or equal to 36, then output, lets say X1
if it is greater than 36, but less than or equal to 72, then outputs X2
and if it is greater than 72 and less than or equal to 108 then outputs X3
I tried this and a number of combinations
=IF(AND(A1>B2,A1
I need to be able to give a grade A, B, C or a D by using a range of scores in an IF function for a markbook as part of my IT coursework.
I have had several failed attempts, and this is one of my many formulas that has failed:
=IF(O6<45,"D",IF(O6=$46:$60,"C",IF(O6<$61:$74,"B",IF(O6>75,"A"))))
how to Determine two uncontinnuous ranges are same? "Address" can not work here.
Sub Macro1()
Set Rng1 = Range("H1:H10,C1:C10,F1:F10")
Set Rng2 = Range("F1:F10,C1:C10,H1:H10")
Debug.Print Rng1.Address
Debug.Print Rng2.Address
If Rng1.Address = Rng2.Address Then
Debug.Print "yes"
Else
Debug.Print "no"
End If
End Sub
I need to compare the third octet of two ip addresses to make sure they are identical. In case you're not familiar with what i mean:
ex 192.168.1.2
192.168.1.3
I need to make sure that the red part is the same. So, I need a function that will only look at this part of the ip address and then tell me true or false if they are the same or not. Each ip address is its own cell so I am only comparing two different cells.
clearcontents is clearing some cells outside of the specified range. Some of the cells in row 10, which is above the beginning row of specified range, are also getting cleared. I've tried several variations to no avail.
Here is the code I am using:
Sub ClearDataSheets()
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Dim d1 As Date, d2 As Date
d1 = Date
d2 = Worksheets("FPY").Range("A375").Value
If d1 <= d2 Then
MsgBox ("Resetting the program prior to start of new year is not permitted."), vbExclamation
Exit Sub
Else
I am relatively new to VBA macros. I am having two sheets, in one sheet I have a non-contiguous 20 rows range and in the other sheet I have a 20 row contiguous range. I need a macro which will compare data between the two ranges(one to one compare) meaning 1st row of the first range should compare with 1st row of the second range and if it matches then it should populate the adjacent column in the second sheet with true or false accordingly.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have an excel sheet with two columns, and depending on the status of the equipment, i need to compare the two columns and if the data is the same, fine, otherwise i need to display a msg box with an error. the columns have formulas in them, and i assigned a name to the cells i want to check, i keep getting errors with the following code, when the colums are the same, it is still displaying the msg box with the error. what am i doing wrong?
For Each Row In Range("Dev_Found") 'Loop through each row in Column C
If Row.Value ActiveWorkbook.Names.Item("Dev_Left").Value Then
blah = MsgBox("Your % Dev for after does not match % Dev before, please correct on form!", vbOKOnly, "Error")
Exit For
End If

I am trying to compare two sets of data in two different columns. But I only want an approximate match. That is: Data from one given cell, has to be matched to another given cell and if an APPROXIMATE match is found, return a 1, otherwise a 0. And that should happen all the way down in the two columns.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDesired output is to compare a value in one table to a value in another table based on the same values in associated columns in each table and produce a "True" or "False".
In each worksheet, the information should be similar but I want to compare them.
Worksheet#1 = "ABCD"; Column A = Lot#; Column F = "Defect T"
Worksheet#2 = "EFGH"; Column B = Lot#; Column R = "Defect T"; Column I = "Inspection level"
I want to find the lot # from cell A2 in worksheet "ABCD" in column B of worksheet "EFGH" AND column I in "EFGH" = "1st Inspection". At the same time, I want to compare the cell in F2 in worksheet "ABCD" to the value in column R that correlates to the same row where the lot#s match.
Is it possible to use a nested IF statement to match the cells?
for example i have two work books where i need to compare the times, such as i need to see where does 10:26 am lies and after comparing it on workbook2 we need to return the data in a,b,c blocks infornt of 10:26am, i have tried IF(AND()) but i was not able to rationalise it for huge and random data.
Workbook1:
7/13/2013 10:26
7/13/2013 10:58
7/13/2013 12:06

11:45:09abcreleased
11:49:00ghiassigned

I have 2 ranges named MASTER and SUBSET and 1 range named ANSWER. I want to compare ranges MASTER and SUBSET and copy the difference to ANSWER. The ranges have the same number of columns but different number of rows. Sample data is below.
Ideally, I would like a VBA solution executed from a userform button.
Example:
MASTER
aaa apple
aab banana
aac grape
SUBSET
aab banana
ANSWER
aaa apple
aac grape
How would i wrte this formula correctly?
=IF(SUM(I5:J26))-(SUM(D5:E26))>=0,0,(SUM(I5:J26))-(SUM(D5:E26)
It needs to say if the sum of the two cell ranges is less than or equal to zero then display as zero, otherwise display the answer
I have two spreadsheets in different workbooks ( workbook 1: sheet 1 and workbook2: sheet1), here i need to compare column 5 in Book1 and Column 5 for all cells, say X is the value we are looking for..
X occurs once in book1 and might occur more than once in book2..so if a match occurs ( that is once the code checks that there is X occuring in both books in columns 5) it should copy all rows in book 2 where X occurs to a new workbook 3 in sheet 1 and also it shoud copy entire row data where X occurs in book 1 sheet 1 . But this data from book 1 has to be copied at the end of row after the data from book 2 has been copied.
if X occurs 4 times in book 2 , then 4 rows have to be copied in book 3 and then data from Book 1 where X occurs only once is copied 4 times at the end of the data from book 2.
this process has to repeated for all cells in columns 5 in book1 and column 5 in book2 .
Sub Find_Matches()
Dim M, N As Range, x As Variant, y As Variant
Dim NewRange As Range
‘ To get the book1 location
MsgBox " Selec the Location of N File"
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogOpen).Show arg1:=""
ActiveWorkbook.Activate
Windows("N.xls").Activate

I have created a spreadsheet which creates an average of feedback for trainers in a training company. The form adds up the feedback score into column L of the summary sheet and I have created a summary sheet which I want you use to calculate the average for each trainer.
I have cobbled together an array formula which creates the overallaverage for each trainer based on the named ranges entered via the form.
It looks something like this:
Column A has current building, column b has future building. Would like to count the number of changes without adding a separate column with an if statement.
View 3 Replies View Relatedif I have a range, say 33-35, I want to put a value into a cell and compare it to that range. It will set another cell to a certain value, based on the range.
i.e. if (35 > A1 > 33)
A2 = B
elseif (37 > A1 > 35)
A2 = X
I want to have a new macro/button to redo the chart cells based on the dates in cols T and U (abt 400 entries). T has the start date and U has the end date.
Row 9 - X9: CJ9 have dates for about 10 months (weekdays only)
Column J have either of these two values: A or B
Column C has either of these two values: C or blank
I would envisage it going through each row, checking:
If date at top of that col was between the dates in cols T & U
then
if col J = 'A' then set cell to black block
else if col J = 'B'
then
if col C = C (closed) then set cell to red block
else set cell to blue block
I am currently using an Intersect statement in a worksheet module to perform two things:
1. Insert a time stamp into row 2 when row 1 has a price inserted
2.To clear that time stamp if the price is deleted at some later date.
My problem is with the time stamp value being deleted by the user.
If I try to clear the price (now that the time cell =empty) I get a Runtime error 91 - Object Variable or With block variable not set.
I would like to convert this code to a select case statement but I'm not sure how to do this in this situation. Would error coding be appropriate in this instance?
Basically I have two sets of data. One will be new each week. I'd like to use the non-changing data as a base to compare new data to. The formula would need to match multiple values, including a 'time between', and then return whether a minimum rate has been met.

I need help creating a macro that will search through my excel spreadsheet and for every instance where column A isn't empty it should cut a range of columns from that row and paste them in a different range of columns in the row before it. It should then delete the row that it cut the columns from and keep searching until it has done this for the whole worksheet. I can modify which range of columns are needed, but it has been so long since I've worked with excel macros that I haven't been able to do it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up an if statement that will recognize that if a cell is FHR it will do something...but if it's PHR it will do something else. I think I found the place where I keep getting an error but I'm not sure how to go about fixing the issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to use a previously Set variable as part of the next Set statement, pretty unsuccessfully at present.
My purpose is trying to look up
Code:
tb_SelJobID.Value
from a userform in Col Z then look across the row to Cols D,I,N,S & W (different types of work) to see if
Code:
TbSelYr.Value
matches the year selected then insert a formula in the row to the left. Then loop down to the FinalRow.
Currently my Set Found1 statement does not recognise my Found10 value. I know it will be my syntax as it always is. I have cut down the following code to display where the problem areas are, Found1 thru 5.
Code:
Sub CmdGo3_Click()
Dim Row As Range
Dim FinalRow As Long
Dim Found1, Found2, Found3, Found4, Found5, Found10 As Range

I have an Excel Sheet which I use as Database. The database has 11 columns and I insert data with the following function:
Code:
Sub testInsert()
Dim adoCommand As New ADODB.Command
Dim sQuery As String
Dim i As Integer
Dim strTest As String
strTest = "test"
[Code] .......
Now I want to retrieve this data. i.e. I want all F1 where F2 and F3 are 0 AND I want them ordered descending. I'm trying to achieve this with:
Code:
Sub testSelect()
Dim adoCommand As New ADODB.Command
Dim sQuery As String
Dim mrs As New ADODB.Recordset
Dim strTest As String
strTest = "test"
[Code] ....
The result I am getting looks like this:
9
8
7
6
5
4
3
2
15
14
13
12
11
10

I assume, that the data is interpreted as String instead of an integer. But I explicitely stated the data as Integer when storing the data into the DB.
I have two ranges of numbers stored as text on two different sheets.
The first one is from product code and the second is from product category.
The problem is both ranges are of different lengths and I have to find out if a product from the right is part of a particular product category. Even if the length is different the first digits are indicative of the belonging of a code. For example 1234 and 12345 are “family”-their first 4 digits match.
Just to give you an example of what is desired:
Category____ Code
2200 ________22002
2323________ 232347
So, the loop should do the following:Compare the first string from the “Category” column to each and every entry on the right, if a match exists (we have no match here for 2200) write “ok” next to it.
Next trim one digit from the right from every string in the “Code” column.
Compare same first string from the “Category” column to each trimmed string from “Code” column (here we should have a match 2200=2200)
Write “ok” next to it
Now the loop goes to the second string from “Category” column and for this one we will have to trim 2 digits from the right of each string in “Code” column to achieve the result (2323=2323) and so on.

I have attempted to put a space and underscore at the end of one line and continue the statement on the row below by placing a comma at the start of the second line. VBA will accept my efforts, but when I run the statement in the immediate window, the following error appears.

I am looking to have one formula containing two If Statements that minus.
=IF(B6="investment",C6,0)-IF(B7="gross",C6,0)
So the result of If Statement 1 minus the result of If Statement 2.
What I am seeing at the moment in the cell is FALSE and what I want to see is the sum.
If A1 shows 10:00am and A2 shows 4:00pm, then A3 calculates the total number of hours: =(A2-A1)*24
But if A1 shows "Off," then A3 shows 0: =IF(A1="Off",0,(A2-A1)*24)
Now, if I want to change "(A2-A1)*24" to another if-statement, how do I do this? I can always set up a hidden cell (A4) that contains the results of the first if-statement, and then say: =IF(A1="Off",0,A4). But can I do this without going through all the trouble of setting up hidden cells?
