Compare Specific Cells From Three Separate Worksheets
Mar 27, 2009
Is there a way to compare specific data from three separate worksheets to see if they are equal?
I receive three daily reports that contain some of the same information that must match in order to correctly compile an Executive Report. Currently, I am doing this manually. Is there any way to automate the process to have a warning or something similar pop up if the numbers do not match?
I need to take the data out of one column from sheet A and compare it to the data on another column sheet B.
Real life example:
I have a very large list of contacts with multiple columns of data. On a separate spreadsheet, I have a list email addresses that I need to remove from the larger list of contacts. How can I compare them against one another to detect any matched email addresses for deletion?
List of contacts is appx 130mb List of email addresses is appx 4mb
I have on inventory sheet that has all the data in each cell 2612 to be exact! That changes month to month with deletions.
The format is: Sheet 2 A/B/ 334702/UEMR88QX 334703/UEMR85QX 334704/UEMR81QX 334707/UEMR8JQX
The master worksheet has about 5000 items and the (A and B) data are both on it with other data ranging from (A-Y). My question is how do I have a cell look up data and return that it exists or doesn’t exist on the inventory sheet?
My other problem I need to take that months inventory list and have it look at the master list and return the system number from the master list (B) next to the matching inventory number (C). Allowing me to cross match inventory to master each month and save inventory worksheet each month.
I know I can copy the column and past is as a value so I won’t lose the numbers as the master changes but getting the data onto that months inventory has been a pain.
I have 2 lists (excel 2010) that I need to compare (they are currently 2 files, but I can combine them into 1 file with 2 worksheets) if it would be better.
The first list is of "All Students" at our college. The second list is those students who live "ON campus". I need a list of those students who live OFF campus.
The common denominator headers in both lists is: A1 Last Name A2 First Name
I would like to keep the "All Students" list as my master as it contains all the data I need such as addresses.
Ideally, I would like to create a macro or lookup or whatever that will take everyone from the "ON" list and remove them from the "ALL" list, leaving me with the data I need.
I have thousands of data entries (each in their own row, all in one column) and need to separate the basic info. In the example below, say you want to isolate the Town names by entering a formula that can produce a TRUE or FALSE result. Is there a way to use the FIND function and a pool of terms to isolate cells that contain excess data (i.e.- produce a FALSE result for cells containing any words from a term pool like : "Police, Park, Power, Water, Community, Bakery, Grocery, Field, Garden, Post Office, School" etc... ) ?

example as text:
A2 = Springfield A3 = Springfield Police Department A4 = Springfield Community College A5 = Springfield Park Of Recreation A6 = Des Moines A7 = Des Moines Power & Water Company A8 = Des Moines Sunrise Bakery A9 = Des Moines Post Office A10 = Des Moines Grocery Store A11 = Lancaster A12 = Lancaster Baseball Field A13 = Lancaster Botanical Gardens
I want to design a macro that will compare the student's completed worksheet to the model answer worksheet. This will allow the class to work at different paces depending on ability.
For each exercise, the two sheets should look identical; and so, I would like the macro to highlight any different cells in the student sheet in a colour. I would also like cells with identical values, but different formulas to be highlighted - this is why I could not use the solution posted in : "Compare two worksheets and highlight the one sheet's difference from the other one".
I need to compare 2 worksheets, one containing a list of IP adresses that need to be checked (interfaces), and another containing a list of IP addresses that have been checked (Scanned hosts), there are over 100000 scanned host entries.
I need to search the "Scanned hosts" worksheet to ensure that all of the IP addresses listed in the "Interfaces" worksheet have been scanned. I then need to place an entry next to the IP address on the "interfaces" worksheet to indicate the check date and the name of the person who checked it. It also needs to change the colour of the cells to indicate if it has been found or not found.
The code I have written so far (from piecing together different threads from MrExcel), at first glance, seems to work perfectly. However, if I replace an ip address in the "interfaces" worksheet, with one that I know does not exist - it still marks it as found.

Scanned hosts is just a list of IP addresses and text (168000 rows) in a single column. Format is xx.xx.xx.xx ^IP^^^^Jul 29 2012 08:01:29:000PM
Sub Compare() Dim X As Long, CurrentRow As Long, FindRow As Long, WS1 As Worksheet, WS2 As Worksheet
Set WS1 = Worksheets("Interfaces") Set WS2 = Worksheets("Scanned Hosts")
I am new to programming in excel but am looking to make a VBA that allows me to see if a value entered exists in a second spread sheet. If it does then write a comment next to it. If not then write a different comment.
This is what my spread sheet currently looks like:
Sheet1 contains all the important information: A B C D E F
Load PO Delivery Email Item ShipCon
1 3456 6543 Y 5219
5129
2 2345 5432 Y 1234
4321
Sheet2 contains the items that contain a shipping condition. There are two shipping conditions Fragile and non-Fragile. The list is of Fragile items.
Item
5219
1234
I am looking for a way to have it set up that when i enter an item number in sheet in 1 it searches in sheet 2 to see if it is fragile, if it is then returns, in sheet 1 column F next to that specific item 'Fragile'. If it doesn't find it in the list returns 'non-fragile'.
In Worksheet 1, Cell B63 I would like to create a drop down menu, with two options for the user to select - 0.05 and 0.01. I would like each selection to then control the formula in the cells C63:L63, for example;
I have a workbook with multiple worksheets. On some of those worksheets a have merged cells, so in order to paste new data I need to unmerge them first. Below is the code that I wrote for it. However it doesn’t work and returns “Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error”. I looked at this post List Maximum Value From Each Worksheet and tried adding With – End With, but it failed too. As far as I understood the problem is that the Worksheets/Sheets object does not support UnMerge property, but I may be wrong. If I add ws.Activate line (test2) everything works fine.
However I was wondering if there is a way to do it WITHOUT activating the worksheets.
Sub test1() Dim i As Integer, ws As Worksheet
For Each ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets Select Case ws.Name Case "5 - Top Network Facilities", _ "5b - Top Arb Facilities" For i = 0 To 9 ws.Range(Cells(2 + i * 5, 1), _ Cells(6 + i * 5, 1)).UnMerge Next i Case Else End Select Next ws End Sub
I have a workbook that's setup like a form, with 30+ worksheets in it (lets say this file is called "source.xlsx"). I have information in specific cells I want pulled out in each worksheet and brought in to a new workbook called "Destination.xlsx" and listed in a row.
I have a spreadsheet of products that are listed in column A and another list of products in column B. I need to find the difference in price in a percentage for each product. My problem is the lists differ a little bit in that there are more products in column A so they are not lined up correctly. Is there a way to have excel look in column A and find the match in column B and then line them up so the matching products are in the same row? This will cut out a lot of time having to do the formula in each cell rather than autofilling the formula.
I'm trying to use a formula in conditional formatting to highlight a cell red if the cell contains a 0 but the date shown in another cell has passed. I want to copy the formatting throughout a column but I don't want the cell to highlight if there is no date in the other cell concerned.
Im working with a huge amount of data in BOOK1.xls and once or twice a week I received an update of the list.
1. I need to compare and find out from the new updated worksheet if there is a new revision, and if there are new documents added to the list. I have tried Vlookup..but it didnt work for me. Ex. Doc1 has revision 1, 2 in my BOOK1 that I am working on. Note that there is a repetition of the DocName, Doc Number except for the revision.
I am trying to use a macro to compare data from 2 sheets and spit out matching data in a third sheet. The first sheet has two columns of data. the second sheet has 4 columns of data. Only one column from sheet 1 and 1 column from sheet 2 will actually have matching data.
All other columns in sheet 1 and 2 are associated to the matching columns and must "tag along" into the 3rd sheet. I would love the third sheet to have a button that I just click and it populates the data.
The macro will be comparing between 50,000 and 500,000 items. Possibly a good book to use or even a referral for a proffesioanl or even some good heartedness,
I'm trying to separate text from numbers into two separate cells...
Essentially, I would like the users to copy and paste data into Column A, as seen below. Then, hopefully by formula separate the text characters into Column B and the numbers into Column C.
Input: Output 1: Output 2:
Col A Col B Col C Wells 123 Wells 123 Wells 1234 Wells 1234 Wells Fargo 123 Wells Fargo 123 Wells Fargo 1234 Wells Fargo 1234 Wells Fargo Inc 123 Wells Fargo Inc 123 Wells Fargo Inc 1234 Wells Fargo Inc 1234
Ideally, I would like to do this with a formula...
I have a workbook which have worksheets say A to J. I wanted it to be separated into 10 different workbooks A.xlsx, B.xlsx, C.xlsx and so on in drive C. Could anyone help me here?
I am running a Macro to fix my hyperlinks in excel, and I have several worksheets that I want to preform the same function for but with different new and old strings. The code I'm running is the hyperlink fix code:
Sub Fix192Hyperlinks() Dim OldStr As String, NewStr As String Dim hyp As Hyperlink
I have two worksheets and each one has it's own number. Sheet1 has "100" and Sheet2 has "101" and they're located in "A4" on each. Each sheet will have a control button that will be pressed when a sheet is complete. The control button will clear a range of cells "B5:C20" and increase the sheet number in "A4". So if you press the control button on Sheet1 the range will be cleared and the number will change to "102" since Sheet2 is already using "101".
I have two worksheets with one row of 'accounting' type numbers in A1:A100 (it can be shorter or longer) on both sheets. I need to run a search on worksheet one to see which of them exactly match any on the second worksheet and then highlight them.
It can be a macro or it can highlight each entry a different color. Something so that I can determine which two numbers go together and I can run the thing only once.
There most likely will not be multiples on the same worksheet but if there are it will be few. If multiples happen it is ok it just needs to be matched to the second worksheet in a different color than the other similar numbers.
Another thing is if there is no match in either worksheet that is ok it can just skip to the next number in the list and check that one. There does not need to be a match.
I have a table of data with three columns. In the first column I have different values, but they can also repeat. How can I have VB look at my table and for every distinct value in the first column create a sheet with the value name and paste all the data into that same sheet?
I have a workbook with multiple sheets and I want to make these sheets into separate workbooks. I need them to be saved in the same path as the original workbook and automatically named (same filenames as worksheet names). I tried a code from a VBA book, and I got "Object needed" error message.
i have a worksheet that has information filled in columns A-N and rows 3-7262 (not including title and labels)
i need a macros that will separate this data into multiple worksheets based on the word in Column A; these words could be HDA, CCR/NHT, GRU/ATU (essentially dividing this data up by area name, there will be 14 worksheets)
i would also like to be able to update this master worksheet and have it be reflected in the multiple worksheets that are divided by their areas.
The files are named: File1.xls File2.xls File3.xls
....and so on; the number of files varies. I am trying to write a macro, to combine all *.xls files in one workbook having each file as a separate worksheet.
I have a macro below which splits the data in my workbook (Attached) into seperate workbooks on the basis of each change in data, and saves the new workbooks with the value available in column A. Everything else works perfectly with this code I just want the code to take the workbook name from Column B, not Column A as it is currently taking.
Sub Test() Dim Sh As Worksheet Dim Rng As Range Dim c As Range Dim List As New Collection Dim Item As Variant
I have a spreadsheet of ~5000 rows of data that I would like to separate based on the product code column (11 product codes - 43,301,304,313,332,334,979,984,985,986,992). As it stands, I've been copying the sheets, then removing the data by filter, but doing this every week seems to be a waste of time.
The following code takes a large range of data (currently 20K+ rows) and breaks it out into separate worksheets. This takes a while, and I have been trying to insert a progress bar into this macro, but the progress bar goes in reverse (from 100 to 0) but the userform will not unload at the end.
Sub MoveCells() Dim objBook As Workbook Dim objSheet As Worksheet Dim lngRowSpace As Long Dim strName As String Dim lngTimeRow As Long Dim lngStartRow As Long Dim lngInteration As Long Dim strDataSheet As String Dim boolError As Boolean Dim counter As Integer Dim PctDone As Single
I have a data sheet of 190,000 lines. It is a telecommunications bill with has approx 15 columns.
I need to separate the spreed sheet into the respective "call types" and put this data onto separate tabs, at the moment I do it all manually with Excel 2007.
Is there a way of automating this separation of data
