Convert Formulas In Filtered Range To Values
May 29, 2008
I want to create a Macro to convert the formula results from a filtered data range to values. I thought to use a simple code to do the copy - paste to value
Sub QuickSaveValue()
Dim r As Range, c As Range
Set r = Selection
For Each c In r.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeFormulas)
c.Copy
c.PasteSpecial xlPasteValues
Next c
Application.CutCopyMode = False
End Sub
But is not good because the range is much to large and i need just a filtered part to be changed and i tried like this:
Sub QuickSaveTV()................

I am copying the value in a cell to another sheet's cell. I want to convert the formulas on the second sheet to reflect their value. I do this all the time within cells by using Past Special and Values however it doesn't give me that option within the Text Box

I am trying to find a way to search for specific cell formulas (not the values they produce). For example, how could I search an Excel tab for a cell containing "= sum()" ? I want to ignore all other formulas and values. I then want to replace this formula only with its value.

I am creating a Macro to convert formulas to values on a Datasheet after each entry from a form (worksheet) is carried over. Since each entry will go on a separate row I created formulas to give the new datas location. I just can't get the syntax correct for it to run.
Sub Convert_Formulas_to_Values()
Range("Reviews!$B$202").Value: Range("Reviews!$AF$202").Value.Select
Selection.Copy[code]....

I'm using Excel 2007 and I'm a VBA novice.
Problem: The macro will be assigned to a command button and will be used by laypersons when they finish filling in data on a worksheet in Workbook 1. The sheet contains maybe 30 columns and 50 rows with a mix of fixed values and values generated by Vlookup and Indirect formulas. I need to copy the sheet from Workbook 1 to Workbook 2. Workbook 2 will be for archival purposes so I want to convert all formulas to fixed values. The catch is dealing with some cells that contain hyperlinks to PDF files...
Current Solution: I currently do this with a macro that moves/copies the sheet from Workbook 1 to Workbook 2, it then selects all cells in the new sheet in Workbook 2, copies all cells, then pastes-special "as values" to the exact same cell locations. This works great for me since the cell formatting and data in the sheet are VERY irregular and I have merged cells all over the place. This method keeps the exact formatting I need maintain:
ActiveSheet.Copy After:=Workbooks("Workbook2.xlsx").Sheets(1)
ActiveSheet.Cells.Select
Selection.Copy
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _
:=False, Transpose:=False
Application.CutCopyMode = False
The problem is that a few of the cells have hyperlinks with "friendly names" and I lose the hyperlinks when I convert to values. The hyperlinks are not inserted directly, they are created by a formula, =HYPERLINK("N:Filepath"&C16&".PDF", "Click_For_PDF"), and the row and column that contains the hyper link will vary for each sheet I want to migrate from Workbook 1 to Workbook 2 using this macro. I want to keep the hyperlink active with the clickable friendly name in Workbook 2.
Possible Solution: I'm open to all types of solutions, but is there a way to essentially use my existing macro but AFTER converting to values with paste-special, go back to the original sheet in Workbook 1 that still contains formulas (or maybe a temporary duplicate sheet I migrate to Workbook 2?), search for all cells with a "value" of "Click_For_PDF", copy ONLY those cells and paste (normal) into the corresponding cell locations in the sheet in Workbook 2 that now contains fixed values? ALL of my hyperlinks have the friendly name "Click_For_PDF" so it should be an easy way to identify the hyperlink cells. The cell location of the hyperlink copied in Workbook 1 needs to carry over to Workbook 2 and I said before, the row and col vary with every sheet I want to archive with this macro.

I have a macro that changes user selection from formulas to values:
Dim vCol As Variant
vCol = Application.InputBox("Select Column", Type:=2)
If vCol = False Or vCol = "" Then Exit Sub
Set UserRange = Range(vCol & "9:" & vCol & "35")
UserRange.Value = UserRange.Value
End Sub
I have several workbooks that use this macro, and the workbooks can include several sheets.
Is there's an easy way to change the macro so the user selection is changed in all sheets in the workbook. E.g. if the user selection is column H, the formula is changed to values in all sheets in the workbook.

I'm trying to create a spreadsheet to update daily, whenever our market intelligence arrives by email. I'm not trying to write a macro which can select a range of cells (G:L) relative to the date in Column B, which represents the value in cell P6. In other words:Read the value of cell P6 Find that value in column B (e.g. B646)highlight the cells in columns G through to L on that row (e.g. select G646:L646) I am then aiming to paste the values in that range of cells, so that those stay in the spreadsheet and are not lost when the next lot of figures comes in the following day.
Range("G646:L646").Select
Selection.Copy
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _
:=False, Transpose:=False
ActiveWindow.SmallScroll Down:=12
Application.CutCopyMode = False
ActiveWorkbook.Save
but that's obviously a static range, rather than looking up the date first.

How can I convert all cell values in active range to text format without losing the actual value.
For Ex.
0123 will remain 0123
07/12/2014 will remain 07/1/2014
3453 will remain 3453
regardless of there previous format. Currently I am doing this manually for every column before creating a load file for SQL database.

I have a macro running this code to strip out unwanted formulas and formatting.
Sub Quote_Wrapup()
'To stop screen flicker
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Range("CDandC").ClearContents
Range("qdata5,qdata6").Font.ColorIndex = 2
'To delete delivery address lines if 1st line empty
If IsEmpty(Range("deliver_line1")) _
Then Sheets(1).Range("deliver_rows").EntireRow.Delete
'No End If required as only one action as a result of the If
Range("Item_Nos").SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks).EntireRow.Delete
Columns("A:E") = Columns("A:E").Value .........................
A spreadsheet based on my template has been sent to me because the macro won't run properly. When I try to run the macro I get a Runtime Error '1004' Method 'Range' of object '_Global' failed on the following line. Columns("A:E") = Columns("A:E").Value.

I would like to be able to find the largest visible area of continuous rows in a filtered table. I know one possible way would be to loop through visible cells using the "xlCellTypeVisible" property and count cells in each visible area. However, the data is consisted of tens and sometimes hundreds of thousands of rows so I was wondering if there is a faster, more efficient way to do this.

I need to be able to query a large date range by a small beginning and end date range and return a count when the value is = each search criteria. i.e. - Search one year of dates from a table by Beg: 7/23/2012 to End: 10/21/2012 and return a count. The beginning and end dates are dynamic and I will need to reference the cells, i.e. B102 "Beg" B102 "End" and not a static date.

To avoid manually updating a formula 100+ times, I am looking for a way to update cells in a column with reoccuring formulas with references to other cells that vary respectively from cell to cell. Meanwhile, there are other cells without formulas that this will not apply to in the same column. I am trying to avoid macros if possible, unless it can be easily understood/modified by someone who knows next to nothing about macros or VBA. My initial thought was to use the find/replace feature, but I don't know of any way to do this so the reference will update respectively for each cell (ie A9 then A10 etc.) in both the find and the replace fields.
ie
Find: A9="Text1"
Replace: OR(A9="Text1",A9="Text2")
Where the row number updates respectively.
Simplified example:
Existing:
=IF(A9="Text1","1","2")
[misc. blank or non-blank cell]
=IF(A10="Text1","1","2")
etc..................................

I need help with coming up with 3 formulas:
(1) That returns the First, Middle Initial, & Last Name in column P of the same row:
Cell P7 Douglas E Walden
Cell P8 Michael Haden
Cell P9 Matt David Wilson
(2) That returns the First & Middle Initial in colum Q of the same row:
Cell Q7 Douglas E
Cell Q8 Michael
Cell Q9 Matt D
However, I am so new at this, the simpler the formula the better because I want to try & understand it, not just learn it.

I tried to select "Visible Cells Only" as the target for Pasting onto (using [F5] etc...) but no success. I prefer a solution that does not involve VBA. *** see attached picture.

I would like to paste values from a list into a different list - different tab - that is already filtered. When I try to do so, the values will paste into the hidden cells - being filtered -.
Find attached an easy example of my problem. The list I am talking about is around 1,000 lines.
Pasting Example.xlsx
To explain my example, I filter sheet 1 so only item I need are showing - B, D and F in this case - and I would like to paste the value of Alarm 3 from the Sheet 2 to the corresponding line in sheet 1. But it does not really work - line F is not filled - and when I un-filter values are filled into Item C and D.

I have a large worksheet, with approx 15 columns of data, which is a straight data dump from a very old sales reporting system - so the whole thing is a mess.
As such, I auto filter the report, and select certain criteria from various columns, which leaves me with just the data I wish to see on screen.
What I then need to do is copy across any visible values (after this filtering) from Column C (missing out row 1, which is headings), into the same row in Column E.
At the moment, this is a manual process, because if you highlight the entire selection of codes in column C, then paste in Column E, due to the filtering, the paste puts the values in all the wrong places.
Is there a way around this - or a macro which will copy the values to the same row but in Column E?

Based on filtered data I want to produce a result for the Average trade gain.
Lets say I have 100 rows of data, and based on filtered settings the rows reduce to 5 rows of results.
Of those results I want to find an average of all the positive values (trading profits) and ignore the negative ones.
$2000
$1500
-$700
$4000
-$1000
The answer should be (2000+1500+4000)/3
The need for filtering makes this problematic. I am inclined to use SUBTOTAL as it applies to filters rows only, but I can't see how to use an IF statement within it.
In addition to this I would also love to know how to subtotal all positive values without averaging.

How do I count values in filtered cells?
After I filter for values in Columns(C), I want to count values in Columns(D). When I filter data, I noticed I can manually select the filtered cell range (i.e. Columns(D)) and at the bottom in the Status Bar it will give the correct count. If I cursor over that status bar count it will display "Number of selected cells that contain data." However, I cannot seem to figure out how to get vba to select just the filtered cells selected in that range and count them only and correctly... it instead counts all the values to the last cell in the filtered range.
For example
1) let's say I have a Range("D1:D120') and there are 20 cells containing data in that range.
2) I filter Columns(C) resulting in 10 rows and the rows are 2, 3, 20, 22, 27, 30, 37, 41, 56, 60. Of those 10 rows, there are only 2 cells containing data (let's say cell D20 and cell D37).
3) Now in reality, cells in Range("D2:D60") actually contain 10 cells with values, but since we filtered on columns(C) values... Columns(D) only shows 2 values.
...... here is my problem:
4) If I manually select the filtered range, the status bar "Count" value will correctly sum as "2." But if I code VBA or even "Record a macro code" (obviously incorreclty on my part), it will return a value of 10 for the range of D2:D60 and not on the visible filtered value which is "2."

How to put a value on the last row of filtered column. let's say that above list is very little in comparison with the real list. so, let's say that i look up for name36, witch begins on row (36*5) -> 5 is the values of the year column; after autofilter with "name1" the very left column with row index become blue and show rows from 1 to 5, than, next row is the last non-empty row.

My first worksheet contains the following information:
Column A contains parent category names (e.g. colours)
Column B contains lookup values (non-unique)
Column C contains value to return
Each subsequent worksheet is for a single parent category (i.e. a sheet per unique category)
I'm unsure how to write some code that will return column C for each worksheet
Example of first worksheet:
A
B
C
1
Group
Item
Amount
[code]....
From this, my code creates 4 new sheets named Red, Orange, Blue and Green with column A containing the item numbers that relate to the worksheet name in the table in the first sheet (e.g. column A in sheet Red contains item numbers 1 to 6 inclusive):
A
B
1
Item
Amount
2
1
x
[code]....
In column B, I could like to return the values in column C from the table in column C that are only specific to that worksheet name.
I think I want to filter column A in the first sheet against the sheet name and then perform a VLOOKUP on the filtered data or would using a dynamic range be better?
