Copy Variable Sized Row And Paste Select Columns Into Different Worksheet

Sep 29, 2012

I'm in the middle of building a code that will look at the value in Sheet: "DATA" column "J", for each row that matches a criteria that I pull from a cell - Sheet: "Test" Cell: "C1".

The number of rows varies. I want to paste columns: "I2, K2:P2, U2:AJ2" when the value in Sheet: "DATA" column "J" matches the cell "C1".
I'm using a Command button to click every time I want to generate the filtered data. And I would prefer the code to always copy data starting at Sheet: "Test" Cell: "K2".

I've copied, below, my test code that I have so far which only copies row 2 from the Sheet: "Data", and copies it into Sheet: "Test", starting at K2.

VB:

Private Sub CommandButton2_Click()
If Sheets("DATA").Range("J2").Value = Sheets("Test").Cells(1, 3) Then
Sheets("DATA").Range("I2,K2:P2,U2:AJ2").Copy
Sheets("Test").Cells(2, 11).PasteSpecial Paste:=xlValues, Operation:=xlNone
End If
End Sub

Copy Variable Sized Range

Aug 8, 2006

A text file is imported to Excel Worksheet. I use this code to Select/Copy a section of that import;

Selection. Offset(4, 0).Resize(15, 9).Select
Selection.Copy
'The number 15 would mean there are 15 rows of items.

But there are not always 15 rows. There might be 18 rows, but because the code is set to 15 it will miss selecting 3 rows preceding, or if the code is set to 12 it will not select the full item list. However, whatever the amount of rows of items, be it 15,2 18 or 100 for example, directly under the item amounts is a "marker" purposely put in the file before the import for other search functions.

Above that marker is the total Item count! So I need a code to search for that marker, then move up 1 cell and whatever that number is, if "15" would then determine the correct row count to Resize

The "marker" is : ^3^

So the full code is:

Macro To Select Variably Sized Range

Feb 25, 2014

I have a macro that contains a line:

Range("BB1011:CX1064").Select

The number of columns selected remains the same, but the number of rows changes. The indicator that tells me how many rows to select is contained in cell F1007 and in this example contains "54".

How do I adjust the macro to change the number of rows to select dependent on the value in F1007?

Excel 2010 :: Worksheet Move / Copy Function And Paste Special / Columns Widths

Mar 18, 2014

I am trying to copy one worksheet using the "move/copy" function that is available when you right click a tab name and want to copy the worksheet in the same workbook

The steps I'm using are:

1. Right click the tab name
2. Select Move or Copy,
3. Select Create a Copy
4. Click OK

Doing all of the above does not work. When the new worksheet opens, all columns are the same width. It seems to be stuck on "autofit column width" setting of 8.5. The original worksheet is several columns wide all with different width settings.

I've also used Copy, Paste Special and selected column widths and that does not work either.

Select Cells Across Multiple Columns On Variable Row?

Nov 25, 2011

I'm trying to write some code to select cells in a number of columns on a variable row. I have the following code to define the rownumbers for Cash and Pal:

Columns("G:G").Select
Selection.Find(What:="Total Cash", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, _
LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _

[Code]....

Then I can use the following code to select a cell in a single column:

Range("P" & Cash & ":P" & Pal).Select

but I need to select cells in columns P, R, T, V, X, etc.....

If I was doing this for a fixed rownumber I would use:

Range("P22:P23,R22:R23,T22:T23,V22:V23,X22:X23").Select

but because my rownumber is variable I tried to use:

Range("P" & Cash & ":P" & Pal, "R" & Cash & ":R" & Pal, "T" & Cash & ":T" & Pal, "V" & Cash & ":V" & Pal, "X" & Cash & ":X" & Pal).Select

but this doesn't work giving the Compile error: Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignments

Run Export Macro On Different Sized Ranges In Every Worksheet With Same Starting Cells?

May 12, 2014

I have a macro that I run repeatedly in a certain type of spreadsheet that does an export on a selection, pulls up a "Save As" message box and saves as a text file. There are 9 sheets in the workbook that contain the same data analysis for a set of samples, the only difference between them being the number of data (e.g. some may have 1500, 1400, 1600, etc.). I only select three columns of data to export (I6:K????) that contain counts (1,2,3,....), x-coordinates and y-coordinates. The counts column (I) uses a formula that only counts if there is an x-coordinate next to it (Col J).

[Code].....

Generally, what I do to make quick work out of selecting the variable ranges is to select Sheets 03-11 (the first nine sheets) and select K6:I6 (starting w/ K6). Then, on each individual sheet, I do CTRL+SHIFT+DOWN to select all the relevant data (if I started my selection with I6, then it would select all cells that contained formulas which may or may not have x,y-coordinates adjacent to them). Once the data is selected (I6:K????), I run the export macro and save the data as text. I would like a macro that can automate the selection for each Sheet 03-11, excluding Sheets "all", "data" and "summary", and run the export macro, first prompting me for a file location and a file prefix. When the text file is saved, it uses the file prefix and Worksheet name to build the filename, i.e. "pathprefix_wkshtname".

I've attached an example workbook : 20120511_Au-cit_pH5_test.xlsx‎

Select File, Specific Tab, Then Copy/paste

Feb 13, 2010

Feedback.xls is the file I want to have my macro run in. By pushing a button to run the macro, it will prompt the user to select where their file is on their computer. This file will have different file names based on the end user. For example sake, I've included CAP.xls.

After the user selects their file, it will prompt them to choose which tab to copy and paste data from. Typically, there will be 30+ tabs on their worksheet. For example sake, I've created 5 tabs on CAP.xls. The tabs in their workbook will be labeled as I have labeled mine, M1 CAP, M2 CAP & M3 CAP. Therefore, it should prompt the user to select which tab to choose from.

After the user selects their tab (M1 CAP, M2 CAP, M3 CAP), the macro should prompt the user to choose which row of information to copy. In CAP.xls, I have a few rows of information to choose from. They all start with FY10A1, FY10A2, FY10A3, but this information could change. Once they select the row, it will copy each of those fields onto the respectively labeled fields on Feedback.xls.

Copy Paste With Macros - Variable Positioning

Jul 12, 2007

Using a macro, how do I tell Excel to:

1. Copy the xth row and paste it before the yth row

2. Copy the mth column and paste it before the nth column

3. Copy the cell a,b and paste it in he position c,d
where x,y,m,n,a,b,c,d are variables, the value of which the user inputs, say in cells A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8 respectively.

In other words, I need to read numbers m and n which are the values of cells A1 and A2, then I need to go to column number m (for instance, if m=4, I go to column D), copy the whole row, go to column number n (for instance, if m=6, I go to column F), and insert the copied column.

Also wondering if VBA provides any way to quickly horizontally and vertially flip copied tables while pasting. While I am aware of the transpose function which swaps rows with columns, I am looking for a way to reverse the order of either the rows or the columns as per my need, without having to copy-paste row-by-row or column-by-column.

Macro To Copy & Paste Variable Range

Aug 15, 2007

I am trying to write a very basic macro to copy and paste, but when I record the keystrokes, step 4 (see below) seems to be recording absolute cells and not relative (?). At any rate, I can't seem to figure out how to get it to select the text the way I want it to. These are the keystrokes I want:

1. Ctrl-c in the current cell <copy the current cell>

2. DownArrow <move down one cell>

3. Shift(hold)-End-Down <select the blank spaces from here down until the next occupied
cell>

4. Shift(hold)-Up <move the selection up one from the bottom to exclude the occupied cell>

5. Ctrl-v <paste>

6. End-Down <move down to the last occupied cell>

I have set the record tool to record "relative" references.

Below is the code that was recorded. It's line 5 that's not working - how do I fix it? What is the command to tell the program to press the shift key and an up arrow?? Such a simple thing, and yet I can't find the answer anywhere! Things sure have gotten complicated since the old Lotus 1-2-3 macro language...

Sub Fill()
Selection.Copy
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Range("A1").Select
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
ActiveCell.Range("A1:A17").Select
ActiveSheet.Paste
Selection.End(xlDown).Select
End Sub

Search Keyword In Worksheet / Copy And Paste Adjacent Cells To New Worksheet

Sep 24, 2012

I've been tackling this data capture/paste issue for a week or so. I found the string below which does provide a good foundation for my challenge. But, my basic level of understanding macros limits my modifications to meet my needs.

[URL] ......

I have 20 worksheets in my master file corresponding to Excel files individual associates will update weekly. After the associates have updated their individual files for the week, I want to capture the data entered and paste values into a master file containing a worksheet for each associate (sharing the same name as the individual associate file). All of these files are housed on team SharePoint sites.

I need a macro to perform several steps after clicking a "Run Update" macro button in the master file:
Open individual associate fileIn master file, search for each Initiative listed in column B (starting cell B3) in the individual associate file (in column B starting at cell B11)If Initiative is found in individual associate file, copy adjacent data in columns D:J for the respective rowIn master file, paste values to the corresponding Initiative row for the corresponding week's worth of dataIf Initiative is not found in the individual associate file, move to the next Initiative listed in the master fileRepeat these steps for each individual associate file

Linking would be the easiest way to accomplish this if I wanted to have a multitude of weekly individual files for the associates. However, I'd rather each associate have one file for them to update (basically overwriting their previous week's entries).

I need to ensure the paste values corresponds to the appropriate day of the week. In simpler terms, if the date in the individual associate file in cell D9 reads Oct 1, 2012, the data captured from that row needs to be pasted to the corresponding row/column in the master file that reads the same date.

Finding Last Cell In A Column, Select, Copy/paste

Nov 15, 2008

I am making a worksheet that I intend to use to track my money. When I first open the worksheet, it opens on a tab where I can click a button to report a type of transaction. For example, if I make a withdrawl from the bank for $50, I click the button, it takes me to the sheet that tracks my bank-related stuff, selects a cell and opens up a form, at which point I type in what the transaction consisted of. However, the sheet also tracks what is in my wallet, so I'd like to finish reporting the bank transaction in the form, and have a button to click that reports the wallet part automatically.

So, essentially what I need to do is select several non-contiguous cells that are in the last row of the bank sheet, copy them, switch to the wallet-tracking sheet, and paste them in a row that is one past the last row of that sheet. The paste should keep the cells next to each other, even if they were non-contiguous when they were being copied.
