How wud I find out the total number of rows in a column, that are non blank? Value "False" and N/A are considered as blank cell , but a cell with --> one or more space " " is allowed.
But I dont want it to count the cells if the entire row, within that cell, i.e. C6:AD6, is blank.
It should only count the blank cells within a row if there has been some data entered on that row..provided it has been entered within the specified range.
I am trying to create a SUMIFS function to sum estimated hours for specific systems that do not have a Completed date. I do not want to sum remaining hours if it has been completed. i.e.
I'm migrating data from Financisto for Android to CashTrails for iOS, and I need to format my CSV file a specific way for conversion to a CashTrails file.
I'd like to do the following in Excel 2013 (I have access to other versions if I need to):
1. Highlight a range of cells (i.e. A1-H20)
2. Apply following action: IF cell has data, add " to beginning of cell and " to end of cell, AND IF cell has no data, place "" in cell.
This can be done, right? I'm desperate!
It would look like this in Notepad. Before: Date,Time,Amount,Category,Tags,Account 12/31/13,12:00 PM,$3.99,General,,Checking 12/31/13,12:30 PM,$5.00,Shopping,gift,Cash
I have three formula in a spreadsheet, all of which should return a number (which they do) or show blank. However, two of the formula return 'FALSE'. The formula are as follows:
Where I would like it to return a Blank cell if H16 is blank. However it always puts False in the cell because there is a Vlookup that is hidden H16. Is there a way I can make it return as a blank cell instead of false.
I am trying to Sum lines of info with "True or False" and "Yes and No". I would like to assign 1 to True and Yes and 0 to False and No when I total the rows. Never tried this in Excel, on Lotus and the formula does not work. I can find and replace, but I would like to be able to use a formula.
I want to create a 'capture all' formula that adds up cells in a column This column may contain blank cells in one column but when copied to another column, the same row may contain a value.
example I want the sum of A5 + A8 + A10 + A22 but in column A cell A5 may be blank and so may A22 but when the formula is copied to column B all the cells may contain a value
When I try to do it I receive a Value# error for columns containing blank cells I don't want to do a separate formula for each column
I need to count the number of entries made in an column provided it should exclude text values but it should count all the values which is combined of text and numbers ..... I tried count but it's only counting cells containing number....
I found this great macro to use in a spreadsheet I'm trying to transpose from rows to columns, however, I need a place holder for blank cells: [URL] .....
I was able to use the macro in the last post by Ochenden but the blank cells need to have a placeholder.
How to change the macro or come up with a different script for me to use?
Attached is how I need the spreadsheet to look.
Script I used:
Sub aaa() Dim OutSH As Worksheet Set OutSH = Sheets("Sheet2")
I am still having bother with if statemnts (within a cell in excel - not a macro) Sicarii kindly assisted me the other day with this...
=IF(A1="&","V",IF(A1=" &"," V")) *note* there is nothing set in this for FALSE.
How do I get the statement to return nothing (i.e.: have "" in the return) instead of 'false'? To explain further, I have in a column, the following: & ^ & (i.e.:'(space)&') & 33
On one sheet (Data) I have a list of action items, each with owner; target date; classification and in some cases revised target date. I'm trying to report on these fields and provide a status, by owner and classification, of how many are overdue; due this month; due next month; due beyond 2mths.
Using a SUM array formula on another sheet I can count the number that are overdue based on date; owner; classification; and target date, but can't find a solution if there is a revised target date. Any guidance you can give would be greatly received.
I am using concatenate to create a list of bottles based on other data, so that each cell contains a different combination of bottles.
The problem is that the list appears but there is also FALSE for every bottle that doesn't relate to that cell.
Is there a way to create a formula such that nothing appears if it is not true? And is there a shorter way of writing what I am after, I can't quite finish the formula becaise it is so long.
In any case, what I have is a set of cells that may or may not be filled, and which frequently get changed around. As I need the data counted in a specific way for "shenanigans", I am... getting quite tired with having to manually adjust this whenever my co-workers decide to adjust something (and I have been told that throwing bricks at them until they stop is not a valid option).
Basically, I want to count the cells in a way so that for every time a cell is filled, a counter repeats the previous number before continuing the sequence.
I.e
Dog 1
Rat 1
[code]....
My issue is that I have no idea how to get this to count right. I know the theory of how I want this to work, but I just have no idea how to get it to function. The logic of how I want it to count is below, but, again, I just have no idea how to go about getting it to work right without manually typing in the counter, and without ending up with the code working wrongly when there's two filled cells at the top.
I've written a sumproduct formula, which does what I want it to do; but it returns a zero in false condition, instead of a blank. I've tried several things, but don't seem to be progressing very far. Here's the formula that I ended up with.
I have roughly 150 cells I am trying to count, some blank, some not blank, some with numbers. All are in the same column. I want use a simple function that sums the total number for me, say from (A2:A153). Answers?
So what I have is an unknown number of rows, starting at row 2. The first row (row 2) contains information from A2:M2 but all rows after this in column M will be blank up to a particular row. What I want to do, is count how many rows are blank in the column M up to the last blank cell and fill this with a specific word. I have attached a basic layout workbook to show what I want. There is a comment on cell M3.
I have a spreadsheet that contains dates in column A, the number of rows between each date can vary. Selecting a cell with a date in will activate a checklist in the form of a UserForm.
I am trying to create a macro that will count the number of rows from one cell with a date, to the next cell with a date, and then resize the selection for printing.
So far I have this;
Code: Sub test() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Set InitialCell = ActiveCell
[Code]....
My problem with this code is that when it reselects the InitialCell, the UserForm is reactivated. Is there a way to achieve the same results without having to reselect the InitialCell, and therefore the UserForm wont pop up? I tried adding the Unload UserForm1 line but it doesnt have any affect, the form still pops up.
I am trying to perform a count against two ranges of data. Both ranges contain contain values (dates in my case).I am trying to perform a count where cells in column A have data but cells in column B do not.
Is there a way this can be done in Excel 2003? I have tried numerous COUNT and SUMPRODUCT queries but have not found a way to get this to work.
I am designing a spreadsheet for my colleagues and I have run into a problem. Range U16 tu U and the first blank row has values TRUE or FALSE. The problem is you will never know if it's U16:U21 or U16:U90. The thing is to come up with a formula (no vba) that will count all TRUE values in that range. I found a formula on the internet to find the first blank column: =MATCH(TRUE,INDEX(ISBLANK(U16:U300),0,0),0) + 16 - 1
The formula works great and if I put it in, say, cell P2 it will return the correct result.
Now, the cell K2 has the following formula: =COUNTIF(U16:U300,TRUE). It Counts incorrectly. I do not want it to run to U300 but to whatever P2 returns. How can I do this?
sumif problem but it wont work with a countif or average if.
Column A has various names and Column B has amounts, what I need is to count the number of occurances "John Smith" has an amount in Column B. The previous formula I tried was
=sumif(A:A,"John Smith",B:B) but with either countif or averageif it errors too many arguements.
I wasn't sure if Dcount or an array would be suitable but have not used them before.
Pivot tables I'm sure will be the future with this but haven't got to the foot of that mountain yet.
I have data in B4:B55 and need a formula to return a count of rows, including rows that are blank. However, there are hidden rows that need to be omitted from the count.
