Excel 2003 :: Count Where Value In One Cell Range But Blank In Another?

Nov 21, 2013

I am trying to perform a count against two ranges of data. Both ranges contain contain values (dates in my case).I am trying to perform a count where cells in column A have data but cells in column B do not.

Is there a way this can be done in Excel 2003? I have tried numerous COUNT and SUMPRODUCT queries but have not found a way to get this to work.

I need to count how many times the word Test is in the range B4:H9 with

Range N2 = Test the formula below works if Test is only in the cell once.

=COUNTIF($B$4:$H$9,"*" & N2 & "*")

But I have data in cells like below, this is all in one cell, so how would I have it count all the times test is in the range when some cells have test 2 or more times in a single cell?

how to write a formula that will leave a cell blank if nothing is entered. I do not want it to show a 0 unless the cell entered is a 0.

In cell G16 - I am adding U46 and U58 together.

I do not have a problem when it is 1 cell - my formula works fine. When I have 2 cells added together, the formula does not work.

Excel 2003 :: Cell Result Based On Range Of Filled / Empty Cells

Apr 3, 2014

I'm stuck using Excel 2003 to auto-populate a cell.

I have a range of dates in five consecutive columns called:

Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4 and Phase 5

I enter the date that 'Phase 1' starts under the first header. Once Phase 2 starts I enter a date under 'Phase 2', and so on to Phase 5.

Each phase is consecutive to the next so will always be filled in from 1 to 5.

I want to create an additional column called 'Status' that shows the Column Title of the last phase with a date in it. For example, if Phase 1 to 3 had dates but 4 & 5 were blank, "Phase 3" would be displayed in the 'Status' column.

I've tried nesting some ISBLANK functions without any luck.

Count Blank Cells Within A Range Not Including Fully Blank Rows

Jul 15, 2008

I can count the blank cells withiin a range using

=COUNTBLANK(C6:AD2506)

But I dont want it to count the cells if the entire row, within that cell, i.e. C6:AD6, is blank.

It should only count the blank cells within a row if there has been some data entered on that row..provided it has been entered within the specified range.

Sometimes I can span over 4 pages, other times I can't do 1.5

The only think I can think of is some kind of memory issue - either Excel, Printer, or Windows. However, that is not obvious either.

Excel 2003 :: Count Number Of Rows Between 2 Times

Feb 17, 2012

I am using excel 2003. My sheet contains Times in column A and numbers in column B. I want to be able to count how many of those rows fall into time periods. Such as how many are from 8:00-9:00 AM. I do have the time column formatted as Time.

Ex:
A1: 3:40 PM
A2: 8:20 AM
A3: 8:55 AM
A4: 10:23 AM
etc.

B1: 23
B2: 34
B3: 12
B4: 35
etc.

So I want to be able to pull that between 8 and 9 AM there are 2 records.

The second part would be (in another cell) to pull the SUM of the numbers that correspond to the previous question. In the previous example it would be the SUM of all corresponding cells (Column B) that fall within the 8 and 9 AM range. Which would be 46 in this example.

Excel 2003 :: How To Show Differences And Count Between 2 Columns Of Text

Aug 5, 2012

Have Excel 2003. I have

List of email addresses in column a
List of email addresses in column b

** I would like a formula that will take all the values in column A and compare it to the entire list of entries in column B.
Would like it to show in Column C any entries in Column A that ARE NOT in the entire column B.

*Would like it to repeat for entries that are in Column B, but not in Column A and show in D.

*Then would like a count of the differences for each column (that is pretty easy).

It needs to look at the entire list of entries in the column as these will be email addresses. We want to know what is missing from Column A that is not in Column B and what is missing from B that is not in A.

Excel 2003 :: Count Of Records Based On Criteria Within Different Sections Of Spreadsheet

Jul 5, 2014

I am setting up a template to use to track candidates throughout their lifecycle. I am also creating a 'summary report' on another worksheet that counts total number of candidates, counts the number of candidates that have been submitted to the client, count of the number of candidates that have been interviewed by the client, etc.

How do I count the number of candidates in the spreadsheet?

In Cells A6:B5, I have "Submitted"
In Cells A7-?? I have dates for those candidates that have been submitted.
Then a new section titled, "In Process"
A list of candidates are contained within that section.
Then a new section titled, "For Review"
etc.

There are multiple sections, so the date in Column A1 may not always be in a constant row, as it depends on how many candidates are within a certain 'phase'.

I have a column I5, titled "Status" This column has a built in drop-down list that contains pre-defined status, for example, "Submitted", "Candidate Declined", "2nd Message Sent", etc. I need to be able to create a summary report based on a count of candidates that fit certain 'Statuses'. For example, count the number of candidates that were Interviewed. This could be a combination of Statuses: Phone screen with client, 1st F2F, 2nd F2F, etc.

(At home, I am using Excel 2003. At work, I am using Excel 2007. So if it's easier to create in Excel 2007, that's fine.)

Do Not Count The Blank Cells In Range

Jan 19, 2009

This formula counts how many dates in the range match the month in cell (Q3). How do I get this formula to to not count empty cells. I keep getting $VALUE! as my answer when I include all the cells in the range.

This is the formula:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(P20:P976-DAY(P20:P976)+1=DATE(YEAR(Q3),MONTH(Q3),1)))

This is the formula in the cells of the range that is being used above:
=IF(D26="","",IF(F26"",F26,IF(I26"",I26,IF($Q$3"",$Q$3))))

I needed this formula to leave the cell blank if all the data cells were blank that's why I have =IF(D26="","", at the begining.

Excel 2003 :: Conditional Format Top / Mid / Bottom 33% Of Cells But Ignoring Blank Cells

Mar 25, 2012

I am trying to conditionally format the top middle and bottom thirds of a range of data. Problem is, that the range needs to be flexible as sometimes there may be a maximum of 36 cells with data, but sometimes there may be less (so there are blank cells in the range that need not be counted). The methods I have tried always include the blank cells, and so it is not equally formatting the thirds (as it includes the blanks cells as part of the bottom data)....

Here are the 2 methods Ive tried so far using excel 2003)
Top 34%:
=IF(INT(COUNT($D$3:$D$38)*34%)>0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D
$38)*34%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D
$38)*67%)),MAX( $D$3:$D$38))0,LARGE($D$3:$D$38,INT(COUNT($D$3:$D

Excel 2003 :: Copying Range Of Cells From One XLS File To Another

I'm trying to create a macro which will copy a range of cells from one sheet on one .XLS file (which is closed) to a specific place on a specific sheet on the current .XLS file (which is open).

So for the sake of argument:

I've got two Excel files: C:ApplesOldFile.xls and C:OrangesNewFile.xls

OldFile.xls is closed -- NewFile.xls is open and in front of me.

I'm trying to copy the data in ranges B6:C41 and F6:F41 from Sheet2 in OldFile.xls to the same ranges on Sheet6 in NewFile.xls. There are no formulas in these cells -- just data (numbers).

I keep getting error messages, failures to copy to clipboard, etc.

Yes, I know starting in Excel 2007 you can use Tables and don't need to create a dynamic named range. That is not an option at this time.

Excel 2003 :: Sum Data Depending On Week Range

Jun 26, 2014

Objective: I have a financial spreadsheet, which i want to bring to my front sheet the sum of data in between 2 week ranges. For example, if I select week 26 and 52 then all the relevant data will be summed into the relevant cell on my front sheet.

Current Technique: I have on my "data" spreadsheet my columns in B1 down listing Week 1-52 and then the cell headings in B2 onwards. I have created a summary table which currently shows the 4 quarters of the year (1-13, etc) and I am using helper columns to pull this data onto my "front sheet", depending what selection is made on the drop down e.g. 1-13, then all summary data will be dragged onto my front sheet.

On the front sheet, in each cell I need information to be displayed I use the following formula;

"=IF(ISERROR(INDEX(Data!$C$56:$BF$60,Data!$BI56,COLUMNS('Front Sheet'!I13:J13)))"

As you can see the quarter data is useful, but a more flexible date range would be more useful to sum data between any selected week.

If Cell Is Not Blank - Count Twice Otherwise Only Count Once

Oct 30, 2013

In any case, what I have is a set of cells that may or may not be filled, and which frequently get changed around. As I need the data counted in a specific way for "shenanigans", I am... getting quite tired with having to manually adjust this whenever my co-workers decide to adjust something (and I have been told that throwing bricks at them until they stop is not a valid option).

Basically, I want to count the cells in a way so that for every time a cell is filled, a counter repeats the previous number before continuing the sequence.

I.e

Dog

Rat

[code]....

My issue is that I have no idea how to get this to count right. I know the theory of how I want this to work, but I just have no idea how to get it to function. The logic of how I want it to count is below, but, again, I just have no idea how to go about getting it to work right without manually typing in the counter, and without ending up with the code working wrongly when there's two filled cells at the top.
