Create / Edit And Save Workbook From List Of Data?

Dec 21, 2012

I have a workbook which contains a list of data on the first worksheet. I need for a macro to copy the name in each row, along with its data in that row and paste it into the corresponding locations on a template located on another worksheet. It would then save the file using the date (col. a) , then the words " Scorecard for" and then the name (col. b), then loop for each row until it reaches the end of the list.

I located this code here here. However I dont know how to modify it to fit my needs. I dont have 2 separate categories for two score cards in column b. It would all run off one scorecard and each row of data.

Macro: Create Directory Based On Active Workbook And Save To It

Sep 8, 2006

Read “My Documents” Path And Use Result

Problem:

Note:

Typical user OS will be Windows XP Pro / Win 2K
Excel version : 97 / 2002 / 2003

1. Corporate network security settings will only allow directory/subdirectory creation in the “My Documents” section of customers individual computers.

2. Per customer request, VBA application needs to save extracted files for future use.

3. I can specify an initial “My Documents” subdirectory be made and the VBA application file be loaded/copied into that location – i.e. – “My DocumentsCat”.

4. When VBA application is opened from that specified directory, (first time), the application needs to make an additional subdirectory tree to save future files. I can read the opened from location via VBA with the following:

Dim filepath As String
filepath = ThisWorkbook.Path
As an example – this code would produce a string definition of “filepath” – such as the following:............................

Save Data From One Workbook To Another Without Opening Workbook

Mar 1, 2013

I have a spreadsheet that data gets exported to from a software program. There is information such as customer name, part number, inquiry number, etc that I'd like to use to develop a log of all my estimates I create for parts. I'd like excel to take the cells I select and insert them into certain cells in the other workbook and automatically save that workbook. This will create a log of all my estimates where I can then link the full estimate to the log. The information will have to go in the next available row. Is there any way I can accomplish this without having to open the other workbook and save the work book each time?

VBA To Create New Workbook From Most Recent User-numbers From Exported List

Apr 15, 2012

I need to create a macro that can produce a new workbook with the list of the most recent users of my company, so that we can print their membership cards.

From my company's admin I can export the complete list of users with their name, serial number and address. Every time we export this list, the file is saved as "userdata-dd-mm-yyyy.xls", and "dd-mm-yyyy" as today

However, I would like to create a macro that would
1) open the most recent "userdata-dd-mm-yyyy.xls" workbook in the folder,
2) compare the user numbers in this file with the most recent "card_order-dd-mm-yyyy.xls" and
3) produce a new "card_order-dd-mm-yyyy.xls" workbook with the list of all new users since the last "card_order-dd-mm-yyyy.xls" ("dd-mm-yyyy" as today), based on the highest number for user number (this is a continuous list)

Note, the "userdata-dd-mm-yyyy.xls" workbook has name, serial number, address, expiration date and user number as columns.... but the extracted info to "card_order-dd-mm-yyyy.xls" is just of the name, serial number and expiration date.

What is the easiest way of doing so and what code should I use for the macro?

Create New Workbook With Separate Sheets From Data In Another Workbook

Jul 16, 2012

I have been tasked with creating a macro which creates a new workbook wherein each sheet contains the information for one site from the active sheet. The active sheet already has the values sorted by the site such that all information needing to be copied from the active sheet into the new workbook is together.

I.E.

ATL
ATL
ATL
ATL
CEN
CEN
JCK
JCK
etc.

There are 8 different sites on the active sheet: ATL, CEN, DAL, HAR, JAS, JCK, VIS, NOV

The macro needs to find the range for all of the data of each site and copy/paste that data into a new workbook such that ATL would have its own sheet, CEN would have its own sheet, and so on. The data ranges from A:R.

So, for example, the macro would find that the last row with ATL in the "B" column is 6095 and would then copy A2:R6095 and insert that data into the new workbook under Sheet 1.

I had some code that I had adapted to select the range for each of them, but the code loops through the entire sheet (which is 44,307 rows long) for each site making it a quite clunky and very slow step in an even longer macro. Since the data is already sorted, I know there must be a way to have the macro stop searching when it reaches data not equal to the data the row before, however, my experience with VBA is limited, and I have been unable to find a solution. Also, the data does not have to be conserved after being sent to the new workbook, if that would speed up the macro.

Create Directory From Cell & Save Workbook With Cell Value

what code can be used to be place in a Command Button on a worksheet that will use the value in a cell, change it to the directory where it have to be saved and save it to the value of another cell. Example:

On a worksheet called "Customer", at cel A1 will be the customer's name and at cell A2 will be the asset number. Now let's say a directory does not yet exist on the root for this customer, a new directory must be created in the root directory by using the name in A1, and the workbook must then be copied and saved under the value of A2.

Edit- How To Create A Simple Userform

Apr 19, 2008

I have downloaded the sample file at the bottom of the 'Contextures' webpage that explaines how to create a simple userform...

[url]

at the very bottom there is a 'Download the sample file' link

This simple form alows the user to input 4 bits of data, PartID, Location,Date and Qty. This data is saved in another part of the worksheet called 'Partsdata'

What I want is somehow for the user to be able to seach for a PartID from the list in the Partsdata worksheet. When this PartId is found, display the userform in a way that the data relating to that PartID can be edited and then re-saved when the user clicks on the 'add this part' button.

For example....

Msg Box or user form dispalyed stating...."Enter PartID to edit"
a search of the PartID column (columnA) in PartsData worksheet is carried out and when the matching PartID is found the corresponding information is displayed in a user form that can be edited by the user.

Once the user has made any changes to the data shown, the user clicks on the 'Add this part' button and the new data is re-saved using the same partid reference.

Save Data To New Workbook Without Formulas Or Macros

I am unsure how to do this any other way. Save UserForm Data Into Separate Workbook

May 22, 2008

I have a form which creates a budget based on user input. I want to save that user input in a separate workbook. My goal is to reduce the file size. I have several modules which perform evaluations/ calculations, and then format the output in a worksheet, but the size is pretty large 450KB.

I was thinking that I could set the control source, to different cells on the worksheet, and then just copy the worksheet to a new workbook, and save the data by itself. Then if I wanted to change the data for a given budget, I would copy the sheet back into the workbook that contains the modules, and load the form again. Is this a good solution? Is there a better way? Please let me know if I can provide more information.
