Excel 2003 :: Find And Replace Missing The Ability To Replace Values?
Feb 5, 2009This problem has come up fairly frequently lately, and I'm not sure how to fix it, or if this is by design...but in Excel 2003 I can't seem to do a "Find and Replace" based on the value of a cell. I can do a find, based on cell value, but the moment I change to the replace tab, the "values" and "comments" are missing from the "look in" dropdown.
I've only noticed this when I'm trying to replace on a filtered list, so I'm not sure if that is part of the issue.
Perhaps an alternative way of arriving at the same goal. Basically I have a worksheet with a number of filtered columns. They are filtered just right, using custom filtering, and so I do not want to undo the filters. In some columns I have formulas that are returning #VALUE! errors. I'd like to replace all of these cells with NA.

Feb 15, 2012I have Excel 2010, and a dual monitor setup, with the left monitor being the main one. I have my spreadsheets on the right monitor.
When I open a Find and Replace, the dialog box always goes to monitor #1 (left); I want it on monitor #2.
Is there a way to default it to the "right" monitor?

Jun 4, 2013I need to display a set of cells based on the value of two drop down cells i have. As I am not very good at english and worse at explinations, I'll try via screen shots...
I have two dropdowns (C4 and C6) that will indicate what table to use (Second sheet / screenshot). I want that "table" to display in the yellow box on the first page. To complicate matters, some options do not have a CLA option - those starting with X. As there are 24 different outcomes and each is 3x9 if/then statements just dont seem to cut it.
P.S. I have excel 2010 and windows 7
Excel 2010 :: Showing Multiple Values Per Cell?
Jul 31, 2014When I update a cell (change A1 from 2 to 3), any cell that references that cell correctly changes its value (B1 = 2*A1). However, the screen will show the new value in B1 (6) over the previous value (4). At first I thought it almost looked like a strike-through, but then I realized the old value and new value were simply stacked in B1.
If I scroll the screen away that cell and go back to it, the correct value will now show without the stacked values. I'm not having this issue in any other program (Open Office), and I don't seem to be having any kind of stacking issue in any other Microsoft program.
Excel 2010 :: Find And Replace Within Specific Column?
Oct 1, 2012I have an excel workbook where some sheets have a column called "Name" in Row 3. The column where "Name" appears shifts based upon other criteria so it's not set within 1 specific column.
The real data for the "Name" column starts in Row 5. Is it possible to create a macro that looks in Row 3 for "Name", then once it finds that column, it does a find and replace from Row 5 to the end of the data and replaces every space with a ^.
For example, if I have:
Row 3 Name
Row 4
Row 5 John Smith
Row 6 Jane Doe
Row 7 John Doe
Row 8 Jane Smith
I'd like the data to become:
Row 3 Name
Row 4
Row 5 John^Smith
Row 6 Jane^Doe
Row 7 John^Doe
Row 8 Jane^Smith
I'm using Excel 2010 if that impacts anything.
Excel 2010 :: Resetting Cell Values (Dropdown List)
Jun 23, 2014I'm using Excel 2010. I have developed a calculator (attached) to make life easier for my colleagues. It works perfectly fine. But one thing keeps bugging me.
In Cell C3 - You have the option to choose "Daily" or "Weekly" (Drop Down). This selection effects your selection for Cell C6.
If you choose Daily in Cell C3 then your options for Cell C6 are restricted to select/enter an amount between £0.00 and £6.00.
If you choose Weekly in Cell C3 then your options for Cell C6 are restricted to select/enter either £0.00 or £12.00.
This works perfect.
However, if I select "Weekly" and then select " £12.00", all my results are perfect which is exactly what I want BUT if I then go back up to C3 and change "Weekly" to "Daily", the £12.00 in C6 remains (though the data validation for "Daily" is restricted to £0.00- £6.00) and all the results are consequently wrong until C6 is changed.
The obvious thing is to delete the £12.00 from Cell C6 or introduce a "clear" button BUT I don't want my colleagues to do this as it leaves the possibility of error and since we are dealing with money, I can't have it.
So what I would love and what would complete this calculator and deem it ready is if every time Cell C3 is selected (i.e. from the drop down list you choose Weekly or Daily) it as a result resets Cell C6 to £0.00.

Jun 24, 2014I need a formula (but most likely a VBA macro) that will search through a folder for a file than get data from that file. The files are named in systematic way, but I need the entire formula to work from inputting a mold number in one cell. E.g. I input 6291 in cell A2 the vba macro searches for file “6291 mold.xlsx” and returns a range of numbers as well as pictures in specified cells. Is this possible? If so how?
The closest thing I have found is VBA macro that retrieves a list of media files in a folder, I listed the code below.

Excel 2010 :: Pulling Cell Values Into URL When Using Get External Data From Web?
Feb 20, 2014I am using Excel 2010. I am trying to make a spreadsheet where I can type in a date (02-19-2014), and pull in box scores from a basketball website. I have everything set up so that the date is parsed into (3) cells (02 19 and 2014) so that it can easily fit into the URL:

As you can see, the month value in the URL is "02" the day value is "19" and the year value is "2014". What I want to be able to do is type in any date I want and return the box scores from that day in a new tab. I have everything done so that the new tab is automatically created and named, so my only issue is that I can't figure out how to input the day, month and year values automatically into the code for the Get External Data pull:

Apr 8, 2014I have two sheets. One is named sheet1 where all my data is and sheet2 where all my values are. I want to do a find a replace on column N (sheet1) using the data in sheet2. Column A on Sheet2 has all the values that are found in column N and column B on Sheet2 has what the data should change to.
So for example:
Sheet1 says the following on column N:
cat
dog
lion
bear
Sheet2 says:
Column A
A1: Cat
A2: Dog
A3: Bear
Column B
B1: 2
B2: 8
B3:15
I want the values on column N to be replaced with 2, 8, 15 and so forth. I use excel 2010.

This is based partially off of static text that never changes and variables that will need to change. For example, I want Excel to output a text file that has the following text: The red fox jumped over the $X twice. I would want $X to be replaced by the value of A1 of the active worksheet. I will also have several lines like that, so it won't just be a single line, but anywhere from 20 - 120.

Excel 2010 :: Data Validation Won't Accept Start And End Date From Cell Values?

I want the date input to be restricted a start date and an End date specified in two cells on the sheet. However, when I set up the Data Validation, ANY date will be accepted.
As an example cell Z1 contains the date 1/3/2014 and Cell Z2 contains the date 31/3/2014, so in the Data Validation box, the Start Date is referenced to Z1 and the End Date is referenced to cell Z2.
But I can enter 1/9/2020 and the Data Validation happily accepts that date.

May 14, 2014I'd like my macro (in an Excel 2010 workbook) to copy values from three worksheet cells and append them to an existing Access or SQL database file -- without having to leave my Excel spreadsheet or open any other programs. The database file simply needs to be appended. Keeping a running list. That file isn't being used for anything else, we can set it up however is necessary to do this.

The data can be 10 rows to 5000 and I can have anything from 5 to 150 sheets (Separate data sets), a macro would go a long way to keeping me sane.

Nov 8, 2011I am running Microsoft Excel 2007 on Windows XP. Right now, I have the standard macro set up that will replace formulas with their values. It's the standard macro that does this for the entire sheet:

However, with this being a daily task, the issue is that this wipes the formulas out for future dates, which is obviously problematic. To be more specific:
I have one tab (HISTORICAL) with over 200 rows with each business day this year. Columns B through H will pull data from two other tabs (ENTRY1 and ENTRY2) that is entered daily, using a formula that tells Excel to only pull the data for the current date:

So each day, someone will open this sheet and input their data on the ENTRY1 and ENTRY2 tabs. These numbers will auto populate over to the HISTORICAL tab for that specific day.
Also on each day, someone else will open the sheet and go to the HISTORICAL tab and run the macro that converts the formulas on that sheet to the value.
I want to be able to run the macro only for the row with the current date (and any date before will be fine since those will already be converted anyway).
So, taking today for example, when I run the macro, I want it to convert the data only in the 11/8/2011 and previous rows, but NOT for the 11/9/2011 and later rows.

I created a list of values in Column D then created the below formula in column B and replicated it down.
=IFERROR(INDEX(D$2:D$6,MATCH(TRUE,SEARCH(D$2:D$6,A2)=1)),A2)
What I would like the formula to do is look at the list in column D. If a particular row shows a match for that text string it will populate that value in column B, but delete everything preceding the text value and after.
Ex: A2 = 01/16 Petsmart Inc 1372 Miami FL Card 7777
B2 should = Petsmart

for example, A1 has value of 'a.Male' , A2 has value of 'a.Baby'
and the list goes on...
What i want to do is, find all 'a.'s and replace the whole cell with '1' ...
So after replacing the cells A1 and A2 will be '1' instead of 'a.Male' / 'a.Baby'

Jan 15, 2014I am working with an Excel 2010 workbook that has two worksheets in it. What I am trying to accomplish is I want the second worksheet to scan the first worksheet for a student's name, and count all of the instances that the student has a score less than a certain threshold (we'll say "5" for this example). I have tried using various combinations of vlookup and countif functions, but have not had much success. I did get it to a point where it worked, but only for the first instance of that student's name; it wouldn't continue searching the first worksheet for any other instances.

My requirement is i want to plot the values V1, V2, V3 and V4 from the given condition (A1 / A2 / A3 / A4) and the given date.
If the given date is not available then the formula should take the older date than it not next date. For example if the given date is 10-Mar-14 and the date is not available for the given condition then it should take the older / earlier dates like 09-Mar-14 or 08-Mar-14 like and it should not take 11-Mar-14, 12-Mar-14.
The values should be plotted in the yellow cells.

There is several lines like this. I need to copy it out of notepad and paste it into excel where every word in quotes is in its own cell. Right now if I paste it everything goes into cell A1.

Excel 2010 :: Crashing When Pasting Formulas As Values
Nov 8, 2013I recently received an .xls book which I then saved as .xlsx (I'm using 2010). There are just under 8,000 rows and 20 columns. File Size 1MB.
The only formulas in the sheet are the ones in a column which I inserted and copied down for all 8,000 rows. Nothing too complicated: no arrays or anything. The sheet calculates fine.
I am simply trying to copy and paste these formulas as values (into the same cells), though at every attempt Excel crashes. I tried on smaller sets of the column and just got it to work for a few hundred rows, though it struggles with any more than that.
I opened a different workbook of mine, and tried the same operation on twice as many cells containing complicated, lengthy array formulas and the action completed instantly.
There is no Conditional Formatting in the book, no code, no 'last cell' issue, no Named Ranges, no external links.
I have even copied the data to a new workbook, then copied the text of just one of the formulas over into this book, added an equals sign, copied down and recalculated, then tried to paste as values again. Still crashes.
Formula:
=IF(AND(N3>1,ROWS($1:1)<>MATCH(M3,$M$3:$M$7979,0)),"Exact Duplicate","")
is far more resource-hungry than I thought, though if that were the case, wouldn't the issue be during calculation (which, as I said, is fine) and not during a paste attempt? No, it can't be this.
Excel 2010 :: Looking Up Values Across Sheets And Return Not Only Value But Also Sheet Name

=LARGE('1:99'!$B$1:$B$50;$C3)
That correctly returns the largest value in range B1:B50 across sheets 1 to 99.
However now I want to know the sheet name of the value above in a seperate cell, let say in: A3.
I'm using excel 2010.
