Fill Answer In Multiple Cells From Value In One Cell?
Jun 18, 2013
I need an economical way to fill values in 12 cells.
I have a list of 50 cities in column A. For each city I need find and fill certain demographical values in columns, L2 through W50, consistent by looking up data in another sheet. Both sheets share the same column names.
I have tried =VLOOKUP(A2,'CitiesDemo'!$A$1:$W$51,11,FALSE) and it works well enough but I would like to drag across and down to avoid manually editing references.
I had a question considering a workbook that I am working on for overtime, a different one than I posted before. On my workbook, I have vacation leave, sick leave, and overtime to figure in. I want to be able to have a choice to choose which you would like to keep at the end of the week. Such as if you were to work 8 on Mon, 8 hours on Tues, 10 hours on Wed, and then take vacation leave on Thur, for 8 hours, and then work 6 hours on friday, I need a way to choose whether to be paid for the overtime and vacation time, or to subtract two hours from my overtime and add it to my regular time, i.e. 40 hours, or subtract two hours from my leave time and add it to my regular time. I know this sounds complicated, it is at least to me.
So I am creating a board game in excel. I currently have a draw card feature to draw random cards. I also have section above where you can fill in the answer to the question and another 2 sections that flip to correct or incorrect. Those formulas work as =IF(AND(Sheet1!J6="When resubmitting the claim to another insurance should you be voiding an adjustment to the S code if one is posted?",Sheet1!I2="Yes"),"That is Correct!"," "). I have another for if Sheet1!i2="no" then it flips to that is incorrect. I want an OR formula that will be like if multiple cells have any text in them it will display them but only one cell at a time. So essentially a way for multiple questions to be able to be drawn and you can answer those questions and be told if they are correct or not.
I have this excel file with 5 columns on it and one of the columns is dependent on the four columns. I just want to automatically fill out the 5th column (Completed, In-progress and not yet started) based on the conditions set on the four columns. Although, the four columns have many conditions, it has been categorized with 3 colors. If all of the 4 columns are GREEN, 5th column will show Completed, If all of it are orange- Not yet started and if one of the columns had different color 5th column will reflect -In progress.
I've made a drop down list and when I select multiple cells and choose from the drop down list, it only fills one. Here's pictures:
So in that first picture, I've selected multiple cells. But when I drop down the menu and click my selection, this happens:
Why is it that all the cells I've selected does not fill with the option that I chose from the drop down. I highly doubt that I have to manually click all the ones I want to fill with what I choose from the drop down list.
I have a worksheet ("ALL JOBS") with huge row data and the row data will vary every day. My problem is there will be a lot of blank cells which I need to fill manually and its tacking lot of time of mine.
Code to fill these blank cells automatically with some specific texts based on the attached conditions.
I have attached the workbook for more details. FillCellsTest.xlsm
I am taking a range of cells (C22:D67) on several sheets ( same cells on each sheet) 4 sheets in total, each range appears in it's own text box on the single user form.
- I would like to know if there is an easier way of doing this, and can I leave out the cells without anything in them?
Attached worksheet which is an sales incentive plan. I need cell B69 to represent the amount in b68 unless neither b30 or b99 are > 0. In other words if even 1 of the cells b30 or b99 come back positive, you get the amount in b68. If it comes back 0 in both cells b30 and b99, then they get 0.
I have been struggling with this formula for ages and have finally given up. What I would like to do is to do a lookup on the concatenated values of Province, Department and Initiative No, which has mutiple values in the status of milestone column, and then give the answer based on a condition.
The condition for this example should be, that if the returned status / or statuses of the initiative is all 1, then the value should be 1, if it's all 2, then the value should be 2, and so on.....but if the values returned from the status of the initiative is a combination of 1,2 or 3, then it should give me the answer 2. If 4 is part of the comination of values returned, then the value should be 4.
Zero - 0 should be excluded from the formula as it is part of planned values and not actual.
I have a sheet (sheet 1) of employee information for multiple buildings as follows:
Employee Name, Building, Pay Grade, Full Time Equivalent (of full time hours worked)
Anne, Centre A, Anne, Grade 2, 1.0 Bob, Centre E, Bob, Grade 3, 0.50 Carl, Centre H, Carl, Grade 2, 0.60 Dan, Centre B, Dan, Grade 1, 1.0 Emma, Centre A, Emma, Grade 3, 1.0 Fash, Centre A, Fash, Grade 2, 0.40 Gemma, Centre C, Gemma, Grade 2, 1.0 Hanna, Centre B, Hanna, Grade 1, 1.0 etc, etc, etc
From another sheet (sheet 2), I wish to populate the total of "Full Time Equililents" at each grade in each centre, eg:
CENTRE, GRADE 1, GRADE 2, GRADE 3 Centre A, 0 1.4 1.0 Centre B, 2.0 0 0 etc,etc,etc
I have a set of 4 multiple choice answers B,C,D,E column "F" lists a # 1-4 which lets you know which column letter (b,c,d,e) the correct answer is in. I want to set up a formula that will copy the contents of the correct answer (based on that # identifier) and copy it into column "A" which is currently blank.
I'm not the best at explaining, but I think that the excel sheet is pretty straight forward.
In Sheet2, cells C3 and D3 are manually entered by the user. I am looking for a formula for B3 that will take the information entered into C3 and D3, find the row in Sheet1 in which column C=Sheet2!C3 and column D=Sheet2!D3, and give the unique corresponding result from Sheet 1 for that row in column B .
So, for example, if C3=A and D3=102, then the result would be 444 if C3=A and D3=104, then the result would be 111 if C3=B and D3=102, then the result would be 111
The combination of C3 and D3 is always unique and will never have more than one possible result in column B of Sheet1.
A_________ B Frank Sinatra C Sammy Davis D Dean Martin E Joey Bishop F 3
I want to put "D"'s value 'Dean Martin' in column A - i know it belongs in A because the "3" in column F indicates its the 3rd answer listed i.e Dean Martin. This format would be the same where there are 4 possible answers on the column to the right dictates which answer is correct.
Columns("A:A").Insert Shift:=xlToRight, CopyOrigin:=xlFormatFromRightOrBelow Range("A1") = "Fiscal Year" Range("A2") = "2010" Range("A2").Select Range(Selection, ActiveCell.SpecialCells(xlLastCell)).FillDown Supposed to insert a column to the left of A, title that column "Fiscal Year"; put the text "2010" into A2, and copy "2010" down to the last cell.
All that works, but somehow, everything else from the other columns in row 2 is copied down.
refer to attached worksheet. If value in D7 is less than zero; then D8 = 0% If D7 > 0, then D8 = value in C8, and this value must also be copied into 9 adjacent cells in row 8 from D8 onwards.
I am trying to fill down data in columns A:C but only if there is data in column D. I have butchered VBA into this working bit but the fill down stops too early.
Sub fillall() Set x = Worksheets("Paste"). Range("A3", "c3") Do Range(x, x.End(xlDown).Offset(-1, 0)).filldown Set x = Range(x.End(xlDown), x.End(xlDown).Offset(0, 2)) Loop Until x.End(xlDown).Offset(0, 3) = 0 End Sub
how to enter data in non-adjacent cells using a fill command.
Here is what I am trying to do: in the column, I am holding ctrl button to select every 10th cell down the sheet. I need to enter a date in every selected cell that is exactly 7 days apart, i.e., 11/7/08 then 11/14/08 then 11/21/08, etc.... but no other dates or data.
I have tried to figure out a way to do this other than manually, but am confounded.
I am looking for a way for Excel to fill in cells in a column that has data sporadically in it. I am importing a text file into excel and saving it as an Excel file.
In the example attached, I need the numbers filled in all the way down to the next number. I don't care about the text, just the numbers. I realize I can copy and paste, but these files can be several hundred rows long and it seems there should be a better way.
Is there an easy way that if any cell in column A is blank it can copy the value from the closest non-blank cell above it? I eventually have to export data from a workbook into a database. But I cannot have any cells in column A as null or blank.
1. There are no blank rows, and at least 1 cell in each row has a value. 2. The person who constructed the sheet did not fill in all cells in column A for each row, they imply that if the cell is blank then it belongs to the same value as whatever the cell above it has. Ie, all similar rows are grouped together. 3. Of course, I only need column A filled in for rows that have data in at least 1 of their columns. 4. Simple worksheets with no formulas to worry about.
Additionally, if it is possible to get a macro so I can apply the code to all worksheets in my workbook at once, can I get that too? In the example below (where .... are blanks) I would like A2 to read 'Fruit' and A4 to read 'Meat'
ColA ColB Colc ---- ----- ------- Fruit apple red .... grape green Meat ham pink .... beef brown
I am using Excel 2010 and I am trying to average the amount of days in a month to a daily average per person in my worksheet.
Total sales per person A5 = 10 - This is the Grand total per person for column A A6 =4 A7=6
Daily average per person C5=2.6 - Average for all persons here C6=2.0 C7=3.0
The formula I am using is:
=(SUMPRODUCT($A$6:$A$15,C6:C15))/$A5
Which gives me an answer of 2.6 in cell C5 as shown above which is what I am wanting.
Please note that my cell range for my staff goes from 6-15 for both Column A and C where the other cells are blank in both columns.
My question is, If I was to clear all the data in both Columns A6:A15 and C:6:C15, cell C5 would return to a #VALUE. How to I change the formula so that if the cells were Blank, cell C5 would also be blank until I enter data for each person again?
I want to highlight the cell of Column 'A' of excel only when it does not contain the text like "Verify", "Validate" or "Evaluate" in its content if, the value in corresponding cell of Column 'B' holds the value 'Y'. Secondly, the column 'A' can't contains the words like 'Verify', 'Validate' and 'Evaluate' if the corresponding cell in Column 'B' holds value 'N'. So just need to highlight those discrepancies if its there.
Column A Column B Expected Action
Press F3 N Its Fine
Verify this.. Y Its Fine
this.... Y Need to Highlight Cell of Column A as Value in Column B is Y but the column A does not contain any value like "Verify", Validate" or "Evaluate"
Verify This. N Need to Highlight Cell of Column B as the Value of Column A contains words like "verify", "validate", "evaluate" but corresponding cell value in column B does not hold value "Y".
Afternoon everyone i am having abit of trouble working on an excel 2007 spreadsheet. In cell I1 i have a tab called Color. i want the cells below I1 to be filled with one of 3 colors green, yellow, or red depending on whats in cell F "Status" (closed or open - in progress) and cell G ECD for estimated completion date.
Green - i need it to fill green if status is closed. Yellow - need it to fill yellow if ECD is any date greater than today and if status is open. Red - need it to fill red if ECD is todays date or older and status is open.
What I would like to do is to fill in B1:B3 with A0001 and B6:B9 with A0002. The number of rows in each set of data will vary, but the identifier (A000X) will always be located in the row in column B adjacent to the last entry for that set of data in column A and there will always be empty cells between data sets. The number of data sets will also vary.
Any other way of subtotaling data. I am an inventory analyst and do monthly/quarterly totals and averages of inventory used, and need a quick way to fill the blank cells with the part # that is below them, as shown below. I need the part #'s so I can then use CONCATENATE() and pull data from multiple time periods so the part #/year will match up down the page.
FILL P100012008360 FILL P100012009286 FILL P10001201072P10001718 FILL P1000220089,075 FILL P1000220091,124 FILL P1000220103,225 FILL P1000220116,375P1000219,799 FILL P10002PL20089,234 FILL P10002PL200912,150P10002PL21,384
I have a small challenge, where I am trying to fill blank cells with the data from the last populated cell above.
However, I need it to be able to automatically recognise when a manual entry has beed actioned down the column and recalculate for below that cell with the new data.
The data in the cell is selected from a drop down. I want it to populate all the cells below, until the next drop down is selected. And automatically repopulate them all when it is selected.
E.g. Cell C8 has the value "DATA" selected, and everything below is autofilled with "DATA", but when I select cell C12 with different drop down list value "VALUE", all the cells below stay as "DATA" because they are obviously no longer blank.
What I need if C9 - C11 to remain filled with 'DATA" and from C13 to auto fill with the newly selected value "VALUE".
Need this to happen for as many rows and data selections from the drop down as needed (endless).
I have used:
Code: Sub FillEmpty() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Application.Calculation = xlManual Dim cell As Range For Each cell In Intersect(Selection, _ ActiveSheet.UsedRange) If Trim(cell) = "" And cell.Row > 1 Then cell.NumberFormat = cell.Offset(-1, 0).NumberFormat cell.Value = cell.Offset(-1, 0).Value End If Next cell Application.Calculation = xlAutomatic 'xlCalculationAutomatic Application.ScreenUpdating = False End Sub
which does the auto fill, but won't change the cells below once one of them has been updated.
Info:
Drop down list has 31 possible selections at the moment
Starts at Cell C8
Needs to be flexible enough to add an indeterminate number of rows, and additional items to the drop down selection.
