I am working on a model for a school project. Time is in ColA, the number of events is in ColB.
Each event requires one person to work before and after the event. For example, if we assume that I need one person 30 min before the event, one during the event and one 15 min after the event - ColC shows the number of staff required. I would need a formula to calculate ColC. Basically I want excel to add the values of the rows above and below a value if it is within a specified time range
It gets a little bit more complicated unfortunately, the time requirements need to be dynamic - so one day it is 30 min before the event, but another day it could only be 15 min before but 30 min after the event etc.
I was trying to do this with a SUMIF formulas, but couldn't get it to work.
In my data validation I have the following formula as the Source: =INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE($F$2," ","_")). I want to be able to copy the cell and paste it into another cell and have the formula update to reference the new cell. Currently the validation is for cell G2 and references F2. I want to be able to copy G2 and paste it in G3-G6 having the formula update so it refrences F3-F6.
I'm quite a novice at Excel. I have a column of values that I sum as follows;
A 0 0 0 0 0
0 <----------------sum of A1:A5
A formula may change one of the values in the above column to a '1' which means the sum will become '1'. The sum can only be '1' or '0' and only one value in the column will ever change. I need to add a value of 2 to another cell (say, C1) when the sum of A1:A5 changes from a value of '0' to '1'. I know this will probably involve the worksheet change event but am having a problem implementing it.
I have two columns C & D. In col C (C10) a time is entered (either 13.45 or 0:33.22 format). If column D (D10) is blank then the time in Col C stays the same (13.45 or 0:33.22). However if Col D has a M in the cell (D10) I want to add 0.24 to the time in Col C (C10) eg 13.69 or 0:33.46. I have tried various formula combinations but keep getting circular reference errors.
Okay I have a basic Time clock calculation in excel (i.e.-(timeout1-timein1)+(timeout2-timein2)="Total time"). What I need to do is convert the "Total time" to be changed to 3 min increments. I don't know if that is the best way to put it but let me show you the chart for the conversions. 3 mins=.05 hrs, 6 mins=.10, etc etc etc.
So lets put this into us
A1 (timein1)= 6:42 AM A2(timeout1)=11:30 AM A3(timein2)= 12:00 PM A4(timeout2)= 5:00 PM (17:00)
So A5(Total Time)=9h 48min, but I need it to equal 9.80 hrs because with the conversion, 48 mins is .80 of an hour. So how can I set up A5 (Total time) to automatically do this calculation? This website is how I would like it to work http://www.1728.com/timecard.htm
I have a column with dates + time under this format: 2005-01-01 00:00:00. I wanted the same thing for the whole year, so, I wrote 2005-01-01 01:00:00. in the cell below, and then did an autofill.
Unfortunately, at some point, the cell goes from 2005-01-05 03:00:00 to 2005-01-05 03:59:59 which is a problem for me, because I was using the hour as an indicator. And hour(2005-01-05 03:59:59) returns 3 and not 4!
I have a formula that I'd like to have increment by one, but I can't figure out how to do it.
Here's the formula: =IF(INDIRECT("'Supervisor'!B"&ROW()-4)="Y",E12-D12,IF(INDIRECT("'Supervisor'!B"&ROW()-4)="N","0",IF(INDIRECT('"Supervisor'!B&ROW()-4)="","0")))
I'd like to have the -4 in the equation increment to -5 when I paste it to the next row without having to fix each one of them.
Attached is a workbook. I have manually highlighted the cells to give idea of what I would like the outcome to be.
Moonah OPS sheet.
In Row 5(Shift times), under the drop down menu in cells B5:J5, there is a range of Shift times. And for the purpose of this I have selected B5 as 0800:1621, manually highlighted B11:B27 C5 as 06:00, manually highlighted C7:C24 D5 as 07:00:1521, manually highlighted B11:B27 E5:I55(RDO, REC, SICK, Travel) can remain as manual input if it is to much to work out.
Is it possible or just a pipe dream, to use some method to automatically highlight a range of cells based on the C5:J5 'time'?
If the time is an actual shift time, the colour will be green and dark green writing as default, then we can allocate jobs/training/meetings and manually colour them.

What I am tying to do is to select the column that matches the time, for instance anything before 6 AM would select Column C, betweeb 6 and 6:14 still selects column C, 6:15 to 6:29 selects column D, Etc
I have a list of information contained in a massive spreadsheet. I am trying to create a counter that increments starting with 1 up to X between two date ranges. The increment counter should start with 1 for the easiest date and increment up X up to the last item in the list. The list contains tasks names with some tasks have dates but there are some tasks that don't have dates (blank cells).
I have been frustrated trying figure out what I would assume is actually a pretty simple solution. All I am trying to do is grab a set of cells and repeat them down the column a set number of times. The 2 forms of this are discribed below.
A: I have a set of numbers from A1 to A51 I want to repeate those numbers down the columns 84 times.
B: In addition to this I need to have the cells from B1 to B51 Repeat 84 times but with an increment of 200 each time. So I would have say 1 in B1 - B51 and in B52 - B102 it would turn into 201 and so on and so forth.
I'm trying to download stock price history inside a loop and move the destination range over one column for each new symbol. I want to keep moving the results from the query over one column each time it loops through....
How to increment a formula with an If statement that transforms 2 values in time format and then as long as these two values keep beeing added in the cells the formula keeps active in the column.
I tried to apply the code for all the but this makes my file huge like 20MB!
You can check this on the file, go the "records" sheet, add the time in the "shift start" and "shift end" fields, then the difference value goes to "hours" in the sheet.
Is it possible to be able to select a range of dates, and a time interval, and then to automatically fill in cells in a column? to be more specific, I want to be able to select, say 1 Jan 2013 to 31 dec 2013 in one box, then specify a time interval, for example "hourly" and then a column is populated with each interval, i.e. 1 jan 2013 00:00, and then the next one is 1 jan 2013 01:00 etc. I have tired the normal automatic fill tool but it never seems to get it right. It works for the first few days then it all goes funny.
I am having a hard time with this formula. How can I adjust my formula so that everything that falls outside the boundries of my given date range will have the word "DELETE" next to it? Here is what I have and it is not working....
I like to create "templates" for files that I work with on a reoccuring basis, just to make things simpler. The current template I am working on tracks items processed by day and is used for two reporting purposes; 1 totals the pay ending items processed so I have the dates laid out based on the 2 week period with formulas for that. The 2nd way it is reported is by the month. Since this is a template, only the first day of the first pay period for a calendar year needs to be entered and the rest of the dates populate based on that date. What I would now like to do is add columns for January - December monthly totals using a formula that will read something like "if column A (where the date is) contains 1/1/2014 - 1/31/2014, then sum up column L" and than copy that formula for the remaining months.
What I'm trying to do is from a template worksheet that I have in a workbook with other worksheets, I'm trying to come up with code that will create a new worksheet based on the template (copy), increment the invoice number, and rename the worksheet tab to be "Invoice # xxxx" (new invoice number from prev. step.).
I have figured out how to use a button on the template to execute, but as I said my VBA skills are lacking to say the least.
I have a workbook with 70+ worksheets that pulls data from a single input sheet and I need to increment the cell references in each worksheet by 1. Is there a way to do that without having to manually open each worksheet and change the cell reference.
VB: 'Row 27 on worksheet 1 cell B27' =+Input!$D3 'Row 27 on worksheet 2 cell B27' =+Input!$D4 'Row 27 on worksheet 3 cell B27' =+Input!$D5 Thru worksheet 70 'Row 27 on worksheet 70 cell B27' =+Input!$D72
Have table with five columns and five rows. The columns(C4:H4) hold Systems, Systems is a defined range, and rows (B5:B9) hold staffer names, Staffer is a defined range. Cell A5 holds period, by quarters, ie, Q1-Q4.
At present am using =COUNTIFS(Staffer,$B$5,System,C4,Q,$A$5). This works fine but as you can see I must change the Staffer starting reference $B$5, with each new row.
formula that changes column and row automatically as I drag down and across.
I am needing a macro to modify a cell reference contained in a formula. For example: I have "=B2" in a cell of my worksheet, and I need some code to select and increment that by 1 so it becomes "=B3". I know how to use the ActiveCell.Offset command, as shown below, to select a specific cell so that it can then be modified, but I can't figure out how to make the actual change. ActiveCell.Offset(rowOffset:=0, columnOffset:=-1).Select
I'm using a macro to update individual formulas in a sheet that contains data from external documents. (i.e. ='C:September[Book2.xls]Sheet1'!$AZ$1 + 'C:September[Book3.xls]Sheet1'!$BA$1 ) Every quarter I have to change the column references in this formula (i.e. $AZ$ will become $BD$ and $BA$ will become $BE$ and so on). Also I have to change the September reference to December etc (but I've mastered this already). My current code works well, but requires manual updating:
My problem with this method is that I need to automate the updating of ColumnReference1 = "BD" to ColumnReference1 = "BH" to ColumnReference1 = "BL" and so on and so forth. It's handy that the reference shifts across 5 columns, which remains constant. Ideally, I'd like to tell the macro to look at "AZ" then add 5 columns.
I'm trying to write a formula that will keep the Column ID static while allowing the Row ID to be reference. Each week my worksheet adds one line and the formula in question is moved one cell to the right and thus the formula cell makes the same move (1, -1). I need the formula to keep the column the same from week to week, while allowing the row to shift downward with the formula. I've attached a sample spreadsheet with the formula I derived. Check out the highlighted formula to familiarize yourself before running.
