Graph Lines Disappear When Group Or Hide Data

I have a file sheet named "ratio summary." The data to this is linked to a number of different working sheets (not in the attachment for obvious reasons)
Currently the data in the ratio summary is grouped by year but "open" and the Graph worksheet is automatically linked to the data in row11.
However when I group the data by year (i.e. clicking the "-" figure) the graph also changes.
I haven't deleted the data so don't understand why the graph data is changing.

I sometimes import data in the copy-paste way from completely different sources, eg. a program on the web or whatever, which has arranged the data in a table.
It is often succesful with the data neatly arranged in the spreadsheet in columns and rows and all, but sometimes the gridlines disappear even though 'cell format' is set to 'none' in 'grid lines' and the settings have a mark for 'visible grid lines' and their color is 'automatic'. Only the imported area misses the gridlines.
It is of course possible to set some grey gridlines manually in cell format, but then I get them on the print also and I don't want that.

I have an excel document that looks all nice and pretty except for the little white grids all over it with unused cells. Is there anyway to hide the lines? i dont care that the cells are there just the lines make the form look kinda crappy.

I have an excel worksheet that contains two sets of data. These numbers are then plotted onto a line graph to show the two sets of data against each other.
The graph is working fine, but only for a specific amount of data. The data is split into mutiple lines. From cells A1 all the way to BI1 is one row. I then have information in A4 to BI4. I would like to plot this information on a graph as a single continuous line. Is this possible?
Basically, My graph source is currently =Data!$A$2:$BI$3. This gives me two lines that I want. How do I get the data from A4:BI4 to join up to the first line in the graph.

Is there a possibility to automate a grouping process i have to do every month? The rows that have to be grouped change every month.
Grouping is done based on the contents in column C. In here i have the following values: Category, Segment, Type, Brand.
For example, column C looks like this:
Category
Segment
Type
Brand
Brand
Type
Brand
Brand
The grouping needs to start from row 100 down. Usually the maximum number of lines to group is 500...
I always do the grouping for Brands first, then Type, then Segment and then Category.

I'm having trouble combining three lines into one. I'm trying to do a daily weight chart and the x-axis is days of month, and the y-axis is the weight. I have 3 rows for the weight (one red line for weight going up from previous day, one green if the weight goes down from previous day, and one yellow line for equal). I want to make the three into one showing the colors. Right now all they are are vertical lines and are not connected.

I need to create a line graph that has 2 lines for each person, one with the amount, one with the points. The X-Axis is by Weeks going up. How can I do this without making a separate series for each? I've attached an example.

And can create a scatter diagram fine. However, I've been asked if it's possible to show on the graph, for each point a line to it's respective X and Y co-ordinate. For example, for row 4 (in red), on the same scatter graph, I'd like there to be two lines for this point,
Line1 drawn from (0.1, 0) to (0.1, 0.26) and
Line2 drawn from (0,0.26) to (0.1,0.26)
I know it's possible to overlap graphs in Excel, but I can't find how to achieve this with scatter plots

So on a primary 'y' axis against I have plotted some stacked clusters (3 categories, each with 2 columns and 2 stacks) and now I want to add a percentage line on a secondary 'y' axis to show the % rates for each category.
How do I plot them? I don't want to use Jon Peltiers utility, as I already have it, but still don't know how to use it to achieve the view.

The group behaves as one shape alright when, say, coloring the line, but is not "fillable". Below a simple sample. - The custom shape i am trying to color in is not a simple square or rectangle -not anything from the existing MS shapes that is....

I am working on the evaluation of a survey. I had 212 respondents which could be divided into three distinct groups. I would like to present the results of a question in columns that reflect the total frequency count in percentages. At the same time I would like those columns to be stacked in order to illustrate the contribution each group has made to that particular answer. I have attached an xls file with the data and a demonstration of the outcome I am trying to achieve.
I haven't been able to create the graph so that the columns display the total count in relation to all respondents on the one hand and at the same time are broken up into the individual groups. Among others, I have read the thread: http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/stacked-column.htm but that doesn't answer my question as the Total there is actually the cumulative total of the other values.

I have been trying to chart temperature differences over 10 day's time for six cities using a line graph. For some reason, the lines are all clustered at the bottom of my graph, with values of 0. My spreadsheet is accurate, without any blank cells. I'm using Excel 2010.

I'm trying to figure out a way to group columns in a bar graph without displaying them in a cluster, but instead in displaying them individually in a specific order. However, I still want to identify each group with a different color. This is hard to describe, so I'll try my best to illustrate what I'm trying to do with an example. Assume I have three groups of data and within each group I have 2 to 3 items in it with different values. In a list the data would look like this:
Group 1 - Item 1 - $2,000
Group 2 - Item 2 - $1,100
Group 1 - Item 3 - $2,200
Group 1 - Item 4 - $3,200
Group 3 - Item 5 - $1,800
Group 2 - Item 6 - $1,200
Group 1 - Item 7 - $2,500
Group 3 - Item 8 - $2,800
What I want to do is create a bar graph that will still allow me to color all group 1 items as red, all group 2 items as blue, and all group 3 items as green while still showing each bar sorted in the order I've shown above and labeled as items 1 through 8. Then, I want a legend to only show the groups 1 - 3 with their colors. To explain, the graph would look like this:
Bar 1 would be labeled as Item 1, with a value of $2,000, and colored red
Bar 2 would be labeled as Item 2, with a value of $1,100, and colored blue
Bar 3 would be labeled as Item 3, with a value of $2,200, and colored red
Bar 4 would be labeled as Item 4, with a value of $3,200, and colored red
Bar 5 would be labeled as Item 5, with a value of $1,800, and colored green
Bar 6 would be labeled as Item 6, with a value of $1,200, and colored blue
Bar 7 would be labeled as Item 7, with a value of $2,500, and colored red
Bar 8 would be labeled as Item 8, with a value of $2,800, and colored green
Then, the legend would only show the groupings of Group 1, 2, 3, 4 and their associated colors.
(By the way... I know I can do this manually by selecting each bar and customizing the color, but I want an automated way of doing this to reduce maintenance time)

i dont know if there is a way around this, i have a sheet, it has one large sheet with hundreds of rows under 3 headings, and i have a group on each of these so people can go in and expand their section and add details, i have a second sheet that contains some graphs simplifying the data collected in the 3 sections of the other sheet..
but i have just noticed when a section of the sheet is grouped its details are removed from the graph.
is there any way around this? i need the groups on as the sheet is so big and people do not want to be scrolling through other area's data when they can just expand their own.

I want to add a user-form on a chart, which will have check-boxes that will allow me to select series(lines) that I want see and compare in a chart. Currently my line chart has 24 series (Lines) which makes the chart very difficult to view and looks very busy. How do I add list of check-boxes that will allow me to select one or multiple lines that I want to see at a time?

I have an automated formula which i have to fill down to line 250, yet in the majority of cases i only need it to say line 20, and as a result i have loads of lines stating "Not Found" has anyone got a way to hide any lines containing either "Not Found" or a blank cell??

Is there a way to hide certain cells using the protect sheet option? Checking the hidden box on the format cells dialogue doesn't seem to do it. I know you can do it by entering ;;; in the custom formating but then if you have to remember which ones you did that too. I would like to be able to hide and unhide a group of cells easily.

creating a template for people. In the template, I want to create cells which instruct the user on what need to be filled in that cell.
For eg. go to [URL] In the box, it says 'Enter word or phrase'. When you click to enter a word, this line vanishes. I want to create a similar thing in Excel.
In Excel, for eg, in a cell it should say 'Enter Name' and when the user enter his name, this instruction should vanish. Also, this instruction should be in GREY and when they user enters his name it should be BOLD BLUE.

I have a pivot which under a Main product, there are a few sub products. I have act, budget, forecast etc figures but mainly want to only show the Total Act and not the rest, see the highlighted brown columns which I do not want to show in the pivot.
Then I want to group the clients, salesperson together so that the details can be hidden.
This is a small example. I have a large pivot table with lots of teams and salespeople and clients and a few main products with a few sub products within it. Grouping it manually is going to be very difficult and would appreciate if there is some way to automate it either via pivot capability or VBA.

The following is how the data is displayed:
[JAN] [a] [FEB] [b] [MAR] [c] [Q1] [APR] [d] [MAY] [e] [JUN] [f] [Q2] etc.
Basically, it is months and quarter. However I have an additional column that is hidden after each month - [a], [b], [c] etc. Those are displayed whenever a cell in the previous column is clicked. Now, I select all the columns from [JAN] to [c] and group them and I have a + on the top most row.
Problem is when I click on +, it expands the month as well as [a] [b] [c]. I have a macro to hide these, but how do I trap the [+] [-] action and run the hiding macro after that?

Is there a way to hide a group of cells based on the value of a cell in another sheet?
I have attached my spreadsheet.
So, based on the selection in H5 on the 'Wood Selection' sheet, I would like to hide cells on the 'Moisture Controlled Schedule' sheet, and the 'Time Controlled Schedule' sheet.
If Ponderosa Pine is selected, I want it to hide all the douglas-fir info, and vice versa

We have a file that needs to be updated monthly by running macros, but the macros are being blocked by protection. I would like to put some code at the start of the macro that unlocks all sheets and then at the end locks them up again. Actually, all I really need is a macro to do just that unlock all sheets, and then another one that locks them back up again as we will need to lock and unlock at various times and it is annoying to have to do it by sheet ....

Conditional formatting. I want to change the color of a group of cells based on data in another group of cells. Example:
If cells G8 and G9 (which are merged) are between 80% and 94%, then I9,I10,I11 (which are merged) will turn Yellow. Also, under the same scenario, IF G8 and G9 is greater than 94%, then cells I9, I10, I11 will turn Red.

I am trying to write VBA code that groups cells between blank rows and inserts a message if a string of text (a name) is missing from the entire group. I want the code to search cells in column A and group the cells between blank cells. Use the name I input in an input box as the search criteria and insert a message in the Column C next to the last blank cell in the group and then move on to the next group and highlight the cell in red with bold text. I am including a spreadsheet with an example of what the sheet should look like before and after the code is run.
