I have a bunch of "empty" cells. They only look empty visually. In fact, they contain something, because they are preventing some formulas from working. How do I cleanse them and make them truly empty without disturbing the contents of the other cells containing real data.

My requirement
1) 4 values contains in each row based on the values from those cells the max value will display.
2) if more than 2 cells have empty,NR or NA text means the entire row has to delete.
3) if 2 or more that means 3 cells having values the empty cell,NR or NA cell will place value with the condition of macro that is 75% of other values which is maximum among them.
I am looking to find all visible cells in column E that are blank, and then add ''B'' to those empty cells.

I have a long range of cells (U3:AX3), all of which are empty save one. Is there a way to search through the range of cells, and return the contents of the one cell that contains text?
I would do this with a series of nested IF statements if there weren't more than 30 of them!
Is it possible to make a cell "really" blank/empty based on an If statement? For instance:
=if(a1>10,a1,"")
Has a value_if_false of "". But Excel interprets this a bit differently than a cell that never had anything typed into it.
So if you have a column full of this formula copied down, and hit <control+down arrow>, you will go straight to the bottom and skip over all rows. Whereas if you have a column with values and empty cells alternating and hit <control+down arrow>, you will only skip the empty cells and go to the next value. Excel treats the conditionally empty cells as if they have a value, when it comes to this type of navigation. This holds even if you copy and paste "Values" for the cells over the formulas.
Is there any way to tell Excel to make the cells truly empty?

Basically, If i have a value in A2, I want any empty cell between B2-G2 to be filled in yellow (as an idicator to the inputter that the cell needs to be completed).
there is already conditional formatting on these cells, which i want to maintain for the non-empty cells. I also have "0" as a value, so I couldn't use the basic conditional formatting setting it =0, it highlighted cells with $0.00, which i do not want.
I have data on 400 rows. Each row has a maximum of 10 cells with data, but many have empty cells with no data. I would like to sort each row to show values of cells in sequence and eliminate empty cells. I can use the sort row function but its a long process for 400 individual rows. Is there an easier way?

I need to use copy-paste skip blanks to another column so it only overwrites cells that contains values. BUT The cells in the column appears to be empty, not blank, when I try use the copy-paste skip blanks it doesnt work. However, when I press delete in every empty cell the copy-paste skip blanks works for those cells.
Do you got a fast method to make all the empty cells blank?
I’m trying to make my life a bit easier, by adding a few macros and formulas to the spreadsheet (Everything was done completely manually before I got here!!!).
What I would like to do is take two columns, which contain a start and end time for work shifts, and colour them GREEN once I have entered a name in the Worker column (Along side the two with the time), and also to fill a cell with a Yes or a No. I’m aware of auto conditioning, and I’ve tried to have a play to get this to work, but I just can’t work it out.

I am trying to lock the unused cells in 32, 2 column by 7 row named ranges, based on whether or not two cells, above each range are equal or less than each other. In other words while one of the cells is less than or equal to the second cell all cells in the range below should be unlocked, as soon as that condition is no longer true the blank cells need to be locked.
I am trying to use this in the Workbook_Sheetcalculate so that the macro will run automatically.
I would like a macro that when run, finds empty cells in a column within the used range and fills them with the same formula in the other cells in the same column but relative to the row.
I have a basic understanding of VBA so if someone can set me on the right track i'll have a go myself as i appreciate this would take a while to write out from scratch.

How can I ensure that all Rows before "Title" and all Rows after the last populated Row (denoted by the fact that there is a single blank Cell after it) are completely deleted?
I have a spreadsheet that has data in columns A through AE. I have built a VBA that deletes all columns except 2 (columns C & AF), and brings them over to columns A & B.
Column C contains a 10 digit number and column AF contains text similiar to "ASSIGNED ON 10 CALLS BOLDI". My VBA deletes all unneeded columns, but I am having trouble getting it to do 2 additional functions. I want it to delete the verbiage of "Assigned ON" in the cells under column AF, and delete the last number of the account number under column C, so that the account number is only 9 digits long.

I have created an excel tool w/ A LOT of macros in it, and the tool "speaks" to the SQL server (downloads data from it and uploads it back). My big problem now is that every time I run any of the VBA code the amount of RAM that is getting allocated to Excel (2007) is increasing - I am checking it in the Task Manager. So if I work for a long time without closing down Excel - my entire RAM is getting consumed and the system slows down, and sometimes crushes.
I was wondering if there is a way in VBA to clean up memory that is used by Excel.
Do you have any hints? I am using extensively 3 things - screenupdating off; displaymessages off, and calculations off. But this speeds up Excel but doesn't reduce the memory usage.
On a regular basis I have to upload cost to our order system. These cost are sent to me by the suppliers, and the part numbers have to match exactly, (from the excel sheet to the order system), or else the cost won't upload.
I have found that in some of my upload files there is a space, or sometimes several spaces, at the end of the part number. These spaces will screw up the upload. I alwyas use the "Replace" option to replace spaces with nothing, and that usually works.
In the attached sample file, there are 3 part numbers with a space at the end of the part number. I tried using the replace option. That didn't work. I also tried using the =TRIM() formula and the =CLEAN() formula, and neither of those removed the spaces. Why can't I remove the spaces from the end of these part numbers?
I am trying to clean this formula up. I cannot figure out if it I am supposed to use index, sumif, sumifs, vlookup, etc.

This formula does what I need it to do, but this is the shortest of the lines. Another cell has the same structured formula, but 15 hard keyed values. I know there is a way to clean this up, I just can't remember how and searching isn't providing the results I need.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've run into a problem detecting empty cells. I'd like to search down a column of numbers and count the cells that contain numbers and ignore the cells that are empty. If the cells were made empty of their data by manually using the delete key before hand then my macro works fine. The problem is if the cells were manually made empty using the space bar to clear their contents.. then the macro seems unable to detect them as empty.
I have tried "", IsEmpty, and a few other things and nothing detects the cell as empty unless the delete key is used rather than the space bar. For this macro I really need the user to be able to clear values beforehand using the space bar, and to have those cleared cells be detected as empty cells.
I want to add across columns, which is not so difficult but I have to "ignore" the blank cells because of the way my formula works.
I'm not sure of the correct mathematical term for the addition I have to do but here is my example:
in this row are the values
1 2 3 4 5
In the row below I want to add the numbers so the result is
1 3 6 10 15
basically, a cell is always adding itself to the result of the sum from the previous cells. This formula I can handle, (=A2+B1 then autofill the results by dragging the formula across the empty cells) but when there are blank cells between values I get the error message! value. How can I write a formula which will ignore the empty cells?
