Basically I have two sets of data. One will be new each week. I'd like to use the non-changing data as a base to compare new data to. The formula would need to match multiple values, including a 'time between', and then return whether a minimum rate has been met.

I am looking for a formula to change a condition based on the time of day. Essentially, before 1pm I would like the formula to be:
=((I12/100)*25)/D12
After 1pm I would like the formula to be
=((I12/100)*25)/B12
I tried various ways with "=if(now()> ..." formulas to no avail because of the way Excel handles Now().
I need a way to compare the time of the computer with the one in the cell and bring up a message box if the time matches.
Yet i don't want it to be a one time makro. What i want is to be able to work with the worksheet and that at the same time i want a paralel function to check whether the time in the cell matches. Something like agenda in Outlook.
I want to compare Now() to a time, such as 10:00 AM, and use the formula in conditional formatting... and am having some trouble determining how to do it.
My latest attempt is
=IF(NOW() > TIMEVALUE("10:00 AM"),"t","f")
which returns "t" no matter what time I insert.
Excel seems to be miscalculating some formulas and I was hoping someone might have seen this before:
I'm attempting to do math on two cells and return the result in a third cell
Jx = time typed manually
AAx = time that is the result of a lookup function from data in a different worksheet
ABx = the result
Here is the formula that I am putting in ABx: =IF(ISERROR(AA39-J39),"",IF(AA39>=J39,(HOUR(AA39-J39)*60+MINUTE(AA39-J39)),-(HOUR(J39-AA39)*60+MINUTE(J39-AA39))))
J39 contains the time 18:31
and AA39 contains the time 18:30.
When the formula evaluates, the error #NUM is returned. Here are the calculation steps:
IF(FALSE,#N/A,IF(TRUE,HOUR(-.00069444444431)*60........)))
What is happening is excel is evaluating the If(AA39>=J39) as true, even when J39 contains 18:31 and AA39 contains 18:30.
I've got two time series (growth rates: what was the forecast for any particular year and what was actual growth rate for that year). I need to compare them to flag those most different. Actually I want to check the accuracy of the forecast. What would be the best function to do it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI get a downloaded report from one of my application. Two columns have date and time data. I need to compare these two columns (subtract) and come up with a value in another column next to it to do some analysis on an ongoing basis.
So I know how to compare date and time in two cells but the problem I have is second set of date / time have other text mixed with it and there is some character that Find/Replace can not find (it looks like the "pipe" | character) and I can't replace or delete that character. Additionally when I click on that cell (B1 in attachment) I don't see this pipe character in the top formula section (fx) but I do see this character in the cell itself.
how I can either get rid of this character or extract just the date / time information from cell B1 to be able to compare cell A1 easily?
I am trying to get rid of some duff data by running a comparison to a fixed value on a defined range. However, the macro tries to compare the cell value (00:05:00) as a decimal value.
I think I need to use the format function to get round this.

for example i have two work books where i need to compare the times, such as i need to see where does 10:26 am lies and after comparing it on workbook2 we need to return the data in a,b,c blocks infornt of 10:26am, i have tried IF(AND()) but i was not able to rationalise it for huge and random data.

I have two Date range in different cell and I want them two return "TRUE" value even if the start time or end time of another is earlier or later by 1-2 hours:
Example: I want to Compare Data from Cell A to B. Values should return True as it is within 1-2 hour range.

in my spread sheet i am trying to use the if function to compare the current time ( vb code used) to a time i enter to alter another cell.
for example
if A1(current updating time) = A2 ( time i choose) then
B1( some value ) = B2( another value)
the point of this equation is to have B2 update its value from B1 every day so today B2= 3 and B1 =4 then tomorrow B2 would = 4 etc , i just dont know how to do it.
I have two identical web query's on the same sheet. One from column A to column I and the other one from column K to column S, and both have 404 rows. The one on the left (from column A to I) autorefreshes every 60 minutes and the one on the right (from column K to S) autorefreshes every 4 minutes. I want to subtract the numbers in column Q from column G and the ones in column R from column H, and in both cases if the result is bigger than 0 to place a timestamp in column Y(for Q-G), and in column Z (for R-H). I tried with NOW formula, but the timestamp changed every time the web query from the right autorefreshed, no matter of the result. I guess that I have to use VBA codes...but I'm not good at that .

I need to count all of the entries for each day. If I use the following formula it returns a zero because the one sheet only uses date while the other includes time as well:

However, if I go to Sheet2, insert a new column and use the follow formula to only pull the date from the date/time cell.
[Code] .....
(I drag this down so that each row now has a value with only the date value in it), and compare against this new column, it works like a charm.
However, my goal is to be able to not create this additional column and just add the INT formula into the COUNTIF formula. For example, if I try doing this:

I get a nondiscript formula error.
How I can compare the date column to the date/time column without having to create a new column on sheet2 using the INT formula?

I have two ranges of numbers stored as text on two different sheets.
The first one is from product code and the second is from product category.
The problem is both ranges are of different lengths and I have to find out if a product from the right is part of a particular product category. Even if the length is different the first digits are indicative of the belonging of a code. For example 1234 and 12345 are “family”-their first 4 digits match.
Just to give you an example of what is desired:
Category____ Code
2200 ________22002
2323________ 232347
So, the loop should do the following:Compare the first string from the “Category” column to each and every entry on the right, if a match exists (we have no match here for 2200) write “ok” next to it.
Next trim one digit from the right from every string in the “Code” column.
Compare same first string from the “Category” column to each trimmed string from “Code” column (here we should have a match 2200=2200)
Write “ok” next to it
Now the loop goes to the second string from “Category” column and for this one we will have to trim 2 digits from the right of each string in “Code” column to achieve the result (2323=2323) and so on.
I have a worksheet which contains START TIME in column A, then TIME USAGE in column B and END TIME in column C. User enters start time, followed by the number of time usage in minutes, how could i possibly display the end time automatically in this scenario? how do you add the entered time usage to the start time to display the end time? Say if I enter 1:00 AM at start time and 00:15 minutes on time usage, how can 1:15 AM be displayed on the end time automatically?

I am trying to provide a tool for department leaders to monitor productivity for order processing in their departments. The variables I have are: Number of orders(variable), number of pickers (variable), start time(variable). Then, I know each order takes 1 picker 4 minutes to pick on average, and there are 45 minutes worth of breaks during the picking process. So after entering the variables I used =(((C3*4)/60)/D3) to come up with the time needed to process the orders. What I can't get to is how to add this number to the start time, factor in break minutes and get to the projected completion time. I have Excel 2003 at work. Clearly I need to take a class!

This code checks the need for lights at a facility.
It first checks to see if the facility even has lights by cross-referencing a value in the record with a facilities database.
If it has lights, it then checks to see if they are needed. If the rental goes past the sunset time, then it needs lights. Sunset is determined by cross-referencing the date value in sheet1! A9, with the sunset database.
If it needs lights, variable lghtson is calculated equal to "sunset"-30 minutes.
As I step through this code:
WorksheetFunction.VLookup(facb, fac, 6, False) = "Y" Facility has lights.
Check to see if lights are needed.

sunset=0.879166666666667 which is 9:06PM. This is a proper value from the lookup.

0.379166666666667 = 0.879166666666667 - 0.5 (9:06 AM)
This is not the value I was looking for. I was looking for 8:34PM (0.856944444444444)

I am trying to figure a way to search for a cell that has a specific date and time range. There are several cell titles pending on the activity. I want to find a cell that has a time ** 7:30-15:30 , 15:31-17:30, 17:31-20:30. The end result is to calculate the activity between those time periods based on the data cells.
Example
If the date searched time field ** the activity ranges is 1635 I need to split the time and credit the activity time in the 730-1530 time and the rest on the 15:31-17:30 time
I have been able to do it on a single labor group based on time alone, but when I try to add the DATE to it my numbers go null. Eventually i will need to add 11 labor groups daily for weeks at a time .

A client buys 500 minutes of my time. In one week I spend 340 minutes on the account. I'd like a column to show Time purchased (say 500 Minutes) Time spent and a final section showing time left (but showing negative values in red)

I am not sure that I can do this, but here is what I would like to do. I have a worksheet that I initial when I start a job in on cell and then when I finish in another cell. What I's like is to have a macro running in the back ground that will tell me the total elapsed time from when I started to when I finished.

what i assume is to add the time to a cell when the wb is saved, when the wb opens, it check for that cell if the same with the date created, if different, then disable the macro button.
I have a protected worksheet. Users wish to be able to track changes in the input cells. The suggested approach for this is to temporarily disable sheet protection and allow them to change the font color, then protect afterwards. What I would like to do is:
i) check whether they are in an input cell
ii) if so, then prompt the user with the 'Font Color' dialog box
iii) apply the font color selected to the input cell
I'm struggling to find the dialog box I need. I can launch the one to change the interior color, no problem (Application.Dialogs(xlDialogPatterns).Show). But that's no use to me, I just want a color palette that specifically relates to the Font Color
