Merge Values For Each Letter Showing Only Unique Letters
Jul 24, 2014
I have the Range B:F for "Values MJ" and columns G:K with "Values RT". In column A there is a letter for each row but some letters could appear more than once and I want to have only unique letters in column A and merged the Range B:F for "Values MJ" and columns G:K with "Values RT" in the same row for those repeated letters.
Original data:
A
B
C
D
E
F
G
H
I
J
[Code]...
If a letter only have values in range B:F print "Missing" in range G:K for the same row. If a letter only have values in range G:K print "Missing" in range B:F for the same row.
I'd like to delete the row of the letter if the repeated letter has values in B:F, since letters for ranges B:F always appear after the letters that have values in range G:K and since I'd like the output in same sheet.
Is it possible to add letters to this "Unique random number" generator it is very fast and takes only 5s to run on 50,000 rows, I have a different "Unique random Sequence generator" macro but it takes about 30 minutes to run on 50,000 rows
Code:
Sub generateuniquerandom() Dim b() As Boolean, e As Range, k&, x& Dim lRow As Long With Sheets(1) lRow = .Range("F" & .Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
I have 1200 doctor/patient records to input into an excel spreadsheet for import to an online EHR database. I can set up all the normal formulas and formatting but for the life of me not figure out how to create a custom formula to take the first letter of the patient first name and last name and add 6 figures to create a unique patient identifier.
ie. James + Smith+ random 6 figures = JS245318.
In my spreadsheet the first name is under Column 1, Last name Column 3 and the unique number generated in column 4.
If I have multiple entries with different but repeatable text values in one column - how do I count all unique ones ? Is there a function or does it have to be a pivot table of sth ?
i go to film school and i have created an excel spreadsheet to manage our shot list paperwork. in one column is the shot number (it's called the shot number, but letters are used instead.) i have applied a validation formula to the cells in that column (B9:B35) that prevents the letters "I" or "O" being entered (because I and O look like 1's and 0's, and therefore is not a "valid" shot number) prompting an error if the user does enter I or O. However, my formula doesn't work. right now i have =LEFT(B9:B35)= "A" which means that any text entered that begins with A will be accepted and other text will return an error. I want it so only the letters I or O return an error, and other letters don't prompt any error.
I am using dglinfo with if statements, and I know that the spreadsheet is updated but the only way I can show the value in particular cell is by hitting the fx. Is their a way to show all the values at once instead of going cell by cell?
I have to compile spreadsheets as tables of various values. One column in particular is a column of ID numbers and the worksheet is very very long. I need a method for checking this one column for duplicate ID numbers.
I have a spreadsheet with a lot of rows and there are three columns that can have a one of two values in it. These values are constantly changing from row to row, not just like a yes or no sort of thing. However 80% of the time they are the same values in all 3 columns, but I want some way of quickly identifying when there is a difference between column G, I, & K which are my three column names. So is there a way of conditionally formatting this to make a difference highlight in red or something like that?
Did you try filtering the list see Debra Dalgleish's index page [url]

formula to add letters but with a numeric value. this is for a schdule sheet. where w would equal 7.5 and x would be 0.
i am using this =SUMPRODUCT(--(ISTEXT(B3:H3)))*7.5 reads the w and adds up ok but need to be able to put w for work and x for off days and still add the total hours
I made a chart to show performance above and below average for sales teams.
When team is selected with no salesperson, value should be 0.
Employee selected and will show there week by week trends above or below. Seemed like a good idea. But the zeros (team level) are being displayed as plus or minus bars which isn't right and the labels show "0".
I find the pivot table is actually showing strange values if you click in the cell even though it displays a 0.Notations positive or negative like 3.80647894157197E-16.
The underlying data is an average formula and selecting invidual criteria, I show there are no anomalies.
I have thousands of drawings listed in colums and each in the row has revisions P01 to P10 for Proposal and C01 to C10 For Construction. Is there a way of getting the highest revision of all listed in a row without turning them into numbers when P is older than C , but 1 is older than 10? MAX function doesnt count when value consists of both - number and letter.
Manualy selecting the highes revision will cost me weeks... and brain damage.. as I have thousands of drawings and more are coming...
I'm putting together an Environment Threat Assessment for work and want to automate as much of it as I can to alleviate the amount of time ppl have to spend putting values in. My main problem is I have three very important columns: Likelihood, Success Rating and Risk Rating. Likelihood and Success Rating values will be selected from the following:
VL - Very Low L - Low M - Medium H - High VH - Very High Each of these is given a value: VL = 1, L = 2, M = 3, H = 4, VH = 5. The Risk Rating is the result of multiplying the Likelihood and Success Rating. So a Likelihood of Medium and a Success Rating of Low will give a Risk Rating of 6. Therefore, the cells on my spreadsheet would look like this:
Likelihood Success Rating Risk Rating M L 6 The issue is I want a couple of things to occur. Firstly I want keep the values in my Likelihood and Success Rating cells as letters (ie. VL, H, VH etc) rather than numbers, while still generating a number result in the Risk Rating cells. Secondly I'd like to be able to change the colour of the Risk Rating cell to reflect the number it gets assigned. For example Green for < 8, Amber for 9 – 14 and Red for 15 – 25. I've been trying to do this with array formulas and am basically going around in circles with no success.
I have a formula which assigns a points score to letters in a range and adds them up. In the example below F=0, P=6, M=12 & D=18. =IF( COUNTIF(AT5:BE5,"="""),"",SUM(COUNTIF(AT5:BE5,"=F")*0,COUNTIF(AT5:BE5,"=P")*6,COUNTIF(AT5:BE5,"=M")*12,COUNTIF(AT5:BE5,"=D")*18)). Thus if F, P, M & D were in cells A1:D1 the result would be 0+6+12+18=36.
My aim is to be able to customise the values of F, P, M & D, using a table and a cell value. See the table below, where the first number in each row represents a cell value which the user enters into BH1, the second, third, fourth and fifth numbers represents the values assigned to the letters F, P, M & D.
Some examples of expected output: user enters 10 into BH1 and then enters F, P, M & D in cells A1:D1 the result would be 0+1+2+3=6. user enters 90 into BH1 and then enters F, P, M & D in cells A1:D1 the result would be 0+9+18+27=54.
I Spoke too soon here, I am getting value errors, how to do it with conditional formating. I tried if cell value is =to #DIV/0! then white (dosent work). Richard this dosent seem to work mate =IF(SUM(F6:V6),"",AL6/SUM(F6:V6))
I have 2 columns i want to find out which items match in each column and put the matching value in column c. I have tried Vlookup and continue to get an N/A .. I tried countif and I get either an N/A or a value error. I have tried turning the cells into text but that is not working either..
column A has about 1700 rows and column B has about 4000
MOST CELLS ARE 6-7 VARIABLES.. satrting with either 01, 02, 03 with 4-5 letters following or have a 6 digit number or 6 letter value.
When I update a cell (change A1 from 2 to 3), any cell that references that cell correctly changes its value (B1 = 2*A1). However, the screen will show the new value in B1 (6) over the previous value (4). At first I thought it almost looked like a strike-through, but then I realized the old value and new value were simply stacked in B1.
If I scroll the screen away that cell and go back to it, the correct value will now show without the stacked values. I'm not having this issue in any other program (Open Office), and I don't seem to be having any kind of stacking issue in any other Microsoft program.
I am having problems creating a chart off of the following data. Each of the cells which have a numerical value are v-lookuping from another sheet. It needs to remain this way as when I switch brands (through data validation), the numbers will update and the chart should as well. Right now, the chart shows these values as zero. I have done this a million times in excel 2007, but now with 2010, I keep having this problem
I want cell B4 on sheet 3, to show the value of cell B4 on sheet one ... only if there is a value in B4 on sheet one then i want the rest of row 4 to be copied to sheet 3 also.
HOWEVER if the value in cell B4 sheet 1 is BLANK/EMPTY then i want the full row to be over looked and the next row to be checked (B5 all the way to B30)
Once B4-30 on Sheet 1 has been checked and only the rows showing a data/value have been copied to sheet 3, i then want the same process to start again on sheet 2 - Again only the rows showing data/values to be copied.
I'm trying to do a line chart showing two teams and their cumulative scores over the period of a game. I've attached a sample with mock data. Is it possible to change the x-series of the charts to display custom time intervals like 0 min 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 4 min, etc? Currently the x-series only has labels for each specific time there was a change in value. I've tried to change the scale but the options that I want aren't there.
I have a formula that counts all instances of the letters a, b and c in a range and assigns them a value of 1 unless they are in the M column in which case a, b or c counts 4.
This worked well but now I need to modify the weightings across this range. My new goal is to count all instances of a,b and c in the range J2:AB2 but have M column a,b, c's = 2 and N:R column a,b,c's equalling 4. Letters other than a,b or c count as 0.
I have a column which contains unique values and also blank cells between them. These blank cells are associated with the cells having value below them. e.g.
Suppose these above are 14 cells (A1:A14); I want to merge preceding set of blank cells with the values below them.... in this example I want to merge A2,A3,A4,A5 with value in A6...
Likewise A10,A11 merge with A12 to show value in A12.
I am looking for function which allows me to merge and sum values in rows with same ID.
Example:
Sheet1
Sheet2
ID Value
ID Value
1.1 1
1.1 4
[Code] ........
Ordinarily I would use a Pivot Table and GetPivotData function, which can easily do this calculation, but in this case file I work with is shared, so Pivot Tables do not work. Unfortunately I am not skilled enough to type my own VBA function. New rows are added to the data source (sheet1) every day...
