I have a list of staff in cell A1 in a drop down list. In cell A2, I would like Excel to populate automatically the branch from which the staff is from when I choose the staff name in cell A1.
I've been trying to get a table to populate based on a couple of criteria. However, I've not come-up with the solution yet.
I have my dropdown selections in cells C2 & C3. The objective is to populate the table below the dropdown with data from the sheet named (very unimaginatively) 'Data'. Currently you see the selection AA-11 & Mar-14 in the Contract ID & Month cells. If I change this, the table below should auto-populate.
I've attempted using Vlookup, Index-Match. But it does not give me the desired result.
Also, the number of Products can change each month (although the file shows 4 for each month & each Account).
I am making a form. At the top there is a dropbox with a list of applications. Based on which application the user picks, I want another section of the form to populate check boxes with the name of the projects that are associated with that application. Some applications have 2 projects, some applications have 7 projects.
I am building a sheet that facilitates managers at our company decipher information that is given to them on a daily workbook I created.
I want to have a drop down menu in Col J, that refers to the major questions they will ask.
Time started (Before) Time Finished (After) Number of Cards (More than) Stops Per hour (more than) Amount of Time Taken (More Than)
I have set up in Col (K) a secondary drop-down list which based on the question selected in (J) will offer options for the answer E.G Time questions will make (K) refer to options based on time and selections based on amounts will offer numbers as an answer.
The elements in brackets are the parts of the formula that create the search option. E.G If select 'Time Started' it will search for all records that started before the time selected in the next col (K)
Right if that makes sense.. I have completed this. so I have the following: A question drop down list in (J), and an answer drop down in (K) which is dependant on the type of question asked. (I have attached an example)
I want to now have a totals box after the question where it displays a total amount of cols that are true to the details in the question.
After that (if possible) I will want to use conditional formatting to highlight the ones that reflect to the question.
Realistically if possible i wouldnt mind creating a question box, a box that allows them to select 'more than', 'exact' or 'less than' and then the specific value. Basically a conditional formatting box for dummies within the worksheet. Attached is a demonstration.
Sheet 1 has a table of prices. There are 7 columns labelled 2 thru 8 and two rows, labelled 1 and 2. Each combo has a separate price.
Sheet 2 has a weight specification (1 or 2 referring to the rows in sheet 1) and a drop down menu with options 2 thru 8.
When I choose a number from the drop down menu, let's say 5, I want to populate another cell with the value from sheet 1 of column 5 on row "whatever the weight spec is", let's say 2.
Ok, so I have a sheet with a working drop down list with dates, and depending on the date you choose, certain columns getting hidden and some un hidden. The layout is the same form is repeated 7 times, and which ever date you pick, the corresponding form gets un hidden. My question is, I have a button that will export it to a new sheet with just the values, to be sent to the office. I don't need to send the entire work book and confuse people.
I know how to export, just not using an if then to choose which columns to export.
I am creating a excel calculator to quick and easy calculate CBM (cubic metres) for a total number of cartons and pallets loaded into a container. The value of 1 carton or 1 pallet will be different depending on which type of packaging/pallet it is.
I have created drop down menues in order to choose the correct packaging / pallet. But I am stuck on on to create the formula.
If I for example choose "LANDFROZEN 7KG CARTONS" from the drop down menu, I need the formula to collect the value in cell E18 If I for exampel choose "LANDFROZEN 10 KG CARTONS" from the drop dwon menu, I need the formula to collect the value in cell E25 .... and so on.
I have tried to use several functions, but none is working the way I want them to :-)
I've got a drop-down menu with four options in it that match up with the cells D11:D14, and next to those I've got spots for counting the totals (E11:E14). Next to the drop-down I've got plus and minus buttons, and I need to make it so if I have the top option selected in the dropdown and press plus, it adds +1 to E11. Second option and the same plus button, +1 to E12, and so on.
The purpose is for a call tracker, the employee would select the reason for the call (maybe more added later) and hit the button to add the call to the report.
I've looked so I know you normally ask for what I've got so far, and that's nothing. I've got all the other buttons wired up but I don't even know where to start with this one. I can include a screenshot if necessary.
I have a excel file to keep track of sales pipeline. What I am looking for, is an automated utility or code that will allow excel to automatically move entire rows once a task is completed and can be moved to another sheet. In Prospect sheet I have a column for " sales stage" and here you have to select from a drop down menu, either "Prospect", "semi-qualifed" "Pre-qualified" "verbal" "closed-won" and Lost. What I would like, is that once you have selected one of the sales stage, the entire row or entry, will be automatically moved to a new sheet according to each stage.
I am trying to create a drop down menu in Excel to display certain values but it's not working. I want to input certain data in the cells. eg, 019, Quebec, Agent, Direct etc. I want to create a drop down list where if 019 is selected, all 019 entries would show up hiding all others. When nothing is selected all values would show up. I created a list but if I have 10 "Agent" entries in the cells, the drop down list also shows 10 "Agent entries rather than letting me select "Agent" and then displaying all agent entries below. I don't know if it makes sense but I basically want to make it easier for people to look for certain entries that they need rather than going through the entire spreadsheet to find all 019's.
Most of the information I need I am getting using standard web queries. But pulling data directly from drop down menus seems beyond the capabilities of a regular web query.
I only need the information that shows as the menu options. I don't need any information from the pages at those links. Nor do I need the links.
Actually all I really need is the option value information, and the date. So for the first item, I would be looking for, 7|2014|u 06/18/2014
I have a large workbook, with multiple sheets. I would like to be able to select a name from a drop down menu, and have the cell color change for all entries of that name in my other sheets. I can do it manually, but it would be much cleaner and easier to have Excel do it for me. I have looked at other answers here on this forum and know that if it can be done,
Creating a drop down menu that allows me to pull data from sheet2.
I have all of my data on sheet2 and my objective is to have a small portion of the data displayed on sheet1 once the user selects the specific "study" from a drop down menu.
how to create a drop down menu that will have a list of all the different studies, and then once the specific study is selected, how do I make it display the pertaining information in the master sheet.
Follow up....more information
The data I’m working with is a master list of different drug studies. All of the data is broken down by the specific study itself, so all I need to do is figure out a way to let the user access the data in a quick and easy way. I figured this could be down with a drop down menu that has a list of each study, and the user could select the study they want to review. Once selected, the data pertaining to the study would then populate the fields on the master silde(sheet1).
I have a table with 150 or so Job Titles down the first column. Across the top row, I have 25 or so courses listed. There are Xs in the table indicating which courses are required for each job title.
This worksheet is intended to be used by individuals who will look up their job title to see which courses they must take. My goal is to simplify this process. I would like to create a worksheet in this workbook which has a drop down list of job titles. When the title is selected the data will transfer to a table on this new worksheet.
I've attached the spreadsheet I have and it's pretty self explanatory.
The file is attached here. I would like to be able to autopopulate cells based on a dropdown. The first tab has the final report and the other 2 tabs are the raw files.
I found many examples on this forum of how one can pull in data from closed workbooks, or copy it and have it stored in the active sheet. So far so good, but I need a solution which would do the opposite - I need the macro to take a range of data form the active sheet store it in a closed workbook and save any changes in the target workbook without opening it.
I have one worksheet that has a list of accounts with various attributes. On a separate worksheet within the file I would like to have a drop down menu to select one attribute (i.e. category) and then once selected, have ALL the accounts with that attribute populate in a descending order based on another attribute (i.e. volume).
I have a list of values (say a, b, c, d, e) and creating a drop down menu with these values in say A1. Say I chose 'c'. Now in cell A2 I want to be able to choose from the same list without being able to choose 'c' again. In cell A3 I want to be able to choose from the same list without being able to choose the values lalready chosen in A1 and A2. and so on.
I have a dropdown list selection on the form for types of machines. The list of machines, their sizes and related noise level are in a chart on worksheet 2 and I'd like to automate the form so that when the machine is selected, the related noise level auto populates.
The dropdown box has been put in the form using the data validation function.
I have the catalog #s of some products in column A, and I have the brand in column B, Product name in Column C, and the model # in Column D. I want to create a formula that if I select the catalog # it should autopopulate the brand in column B, product name in column C and the model # in column D!!
And I have the brand/product & model # in a different sheet!!
For example, I have a master sheet that has a drop-down list of the months January and February, which have their own sheets. I am trying to populate the sales of the week 1, 2 ,3 ,4 in the master sheet based on the same data for the month chosen.
[URL]....When I select a name in column B, it populates column C's dropdown with that name's list of units. When I select a unity type in column C, I'd like it to automatically populate column E in the same row with the value associated with that unit. The values associated with a particular unit can be found to the right of the sheet. So if in row 2 I select Blake in column B, then Unit 5 in column C, I'd like column E to be populated with 14.
Edit: using Excel 2007.
I attached stripped down version of the sheet which is small enough to post. None of the things I removed should affect the topic at hand. The full sheet is available at rapidshare.
Using Excel 2010, I set up a simple workbook with a spreadsheet on one page and the ranges for data validation on another. I successfully linked the fields in the "Category" and "Tender" columns with the data on the second sheet, making nice drop down menus. Everything works fine on my computer. However, when we open the workbook on a different station, the drop down menus disappear. If you highlight any of the "Category" or "Tender" fields, the little drop down prompt is missing; they behave like regular, un-formatted fields. It appears that the data validation became un-linked.
We tried opening versions with certain fields locked (Mainly the Total, Breakdown, and Summary areas, but the fields with data validation were still editable), and also completely unlocked documents. Every time, the drop down lists were lost when opened on different stations.
I've attached the completely unlocked version : 00_FLEX TRAVEL EXPENSE REPORT_v3.xlsx
Forget to check a box or something? This seems way harder for me to figure out that it should be!
How to populate data in non-adjacent cells from information that is stored on another sheet. Sheet 1 is essentially setup to be visually pleasing to the user, but the data stored behind it is on another sheet stored in a more logical manner. I would like to auto-populate the nicely formatted sheet with information from sheet 2 when an item from a drop-down list is selected. I have found quite a few ways to do this using offset, etc. but in my case the values will be pulled into cells that are spread around the design sheet in no set order.
