Preserve Format Of Table When Splitting Master Into Separate Tabs
May 27, 2014
I have a macro that enables me to split my master table into separate tabs based on the first column. However, the column widths and the header format is not retained. Is there something I can add to the macro below to keep the formatting?
Sub DispatchTimeSeriesToSheets() Dim ws As Worksheet
Set ws = Sheets("MasterList")
Dim LastRow As Long
I have 2 large XLS sheets that need to be split into seperate sheets.
The first is only 5 columns wide but the amount of rows changes day to day.
The second is a maximum of 7 columns wide and again the amount of rows will change.
I'm hoping for a VBA code to be able to do both on seperate books.
The A Column has the name of the company, and this can include (/,&) that will need to be removed, the names can also exceed 31 characters. I would like to seperate the sheets by the company name and have the name appear as the sheet name.
Also the formatting from the master sheet to be copied to the resulting sheets, with a header row.
I have included the data for the larger of the two workbooks. data.jpg I have to pull the smaller report each day and the larger report each week.
I am sure the answer to this is out there somewhere but I haven't been able to find it. Thank you in advance for the help - I just can't figure it out.
I have several identically formatted worksheets (for different departments) with macros that reorganize the data in each sheet. I also have a list of managers with their respective departments in this same workbook.
I want a macro that will save these department sheets (values and formats only) in new workbooks - the manager's name - according to the list. I also need the macros that reorganize the data to work without referencing the original file.
I have a master data sheet with raw data in 19 columns and a variable amount of rows per week, but usually 50k+
The data contains entries from different Countries, and this I need to split up per country into different sheets.
Naming the different sheets with Country code like US, DK, UK, PL, etc...
Below code does that almost perfectly.
Only thing is that when there is no more data to split up, it creates the last sheet called "SheetXX" and since it can't name the sheet "nothing", I just get an error - Run-time error 1004 Method 'Name' of object'_worksheet' failed with the possibility to END or DEBUG. When going into DEBUG this line is highlighted. (wsNew.Name = c.Value)
I can just hit END and then proceed running my remaining macros, but I would prefer it not giving me an error in the first place. (My end goal is that all my macros (10ea) are run by the click of one button, and that is currently not possible, when this gives me an error).
I have tried the "Application.DisplayAlerts = False" without any luck, and also "On Error resume Next", maybe I have used it incorrectly. Do I have to search for a different way to split the data..??
VB: Sub Split_data_pr_Country() Dim ws1 As Worksheet Dim wsNew As Worksheet Dim rng As Range Dim r As Integer Dim c As Range Set ws1 = sheets("Template")
I'm using the code below to do a simple search & replace. The code is working fine. My problem is after the search & replace is done, certain cells that contain numbers look weird with decimal points & plus signs similar to Format Cells - Scientific. How do I prevent these cells from looking 'weird' in my code?
I've attached a workbook with 2 sheets called Before & After. You can see the 'weird' cells in After.
Sub Macro1() Cells.Replace What:=": ", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder _ :=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False, ReplaceFormat:=False End Sub
I'm writting an Excell VB application which reads data from my spreadsheet and places it into the text member of an IXMLDOMElement node in order to generate a QBXML request.
The cell I am reading from has datatype number with two decimal places as required by the xml scheme. The problem is that the Range.Value Variant data type drops the decimal point and any trailing zeros so that 1197.00 become 1197. Unfortunately, the QBXML parser requires to see the decimal as well as trailing zeros. So, 1197.90 must show up as precisely that. Changing 1197.90 into 1197.9, for example, also breaks the xml.
My Excel VBA book specifically states that a Variant data type holding numerical data will maintain the data type assigned to it.
I also tried declaring a local decimal (Dim MyDecimal As Decimal) thinking to try copying the Range.Value value to it before assigning to the QBXML field in order to force the correct data format but my VBA macro compiler does not apparently recognize "Decimal" as a valid data type event though my book clearly indicates it is one of the valid VB data types.
I am using Excel 2000. Are these problems solved in newer versions?
I'm building a work schedule based on 12 hour days and I would like to separate a full weeks hours, 84 total, into the Regular hours and the Overtime hours that the employee will be paid. The way it is set up is I have 1 spread sheet that has the schedule for a full year (using "IN" as a working day and leaving the cell blank as a day off) and on a 2nd page I've set up with a COUNTIF formula to total the number of days worked (IN) during each pay period and then it multiplies the number of days by 12 to get the total hours.
Where I am having trouble is that the employees are paid Regular hours and OT hours in a single day and I don't know how to separate the total hours automatically into those two types of pay. For the first 5 days of their shift they are paid 8 hours of Regular time and 4 hours of OT time, and the last 2 days of the shift they are paid 12 hours of overtime. In a total of 7 days they will get 40 hours of Regular time and 44 hours of OT time.
To break this down into simple formulas, ie. (84 -40 = 44), won't work because if an employee works more than their 7 days the pattern they are paid restarts again with the 8 hours of Regular time and 4 hours of OT time and etc. (8 total days would be 48 hours of Regular time and 48 hours of OT time, max of 14 days per pay period).
Is there a formula out there that can break a number down in sequence (8-4-8-4-8-4-8-4-8-4-12-12) and total them in two different cells?
I have two columns in my excel sheet, the first column has the Second name, First Name and the second column has the Date of birth.
Now what I'm after is two columns really, the first column should show the Furst name Second Name (space in between with no Comma) and the Second column should show the First Initial from the first name, the first initial from the second name and then the date of birth.
I'm currently using the following code (that I found online) to take a list of data and copy it to specific sheets based on the values in Column C (there are only 4 columns in my data set). The issue I have with it is that it's meant to create the sheets from scratch every time. What I could like, however, is for it to copy the data to preexisting tabs that are already named with the sames values that are found in Column C. This macro will actually perform that but the down side is it wipes out everything that's on those sheets but I cant have it do that. Is there a way to either modify this sheet so it only copies the four columns and only pastes the four columns onto the sheets?
Sub SplitData() Const NameCol = "C" Const HeaderRow = 2
1. In my first column(Let's call it "input"), there will be a variety of values from 1-10 which will appear in cells as 1,7,10 or 4,5,6,7 or any other similar variation. The quantity of numbers can vary and will always be comma delimited.
2. Following the first column are 10 additional columns. For simplicity, let's say they're labelled 1-10.
3. If 2,5,6,9 is present in the first cell, I want the number 1 in the columns labelled 2,5,6 and 9. If 1,4 is present in the first cell, I want the number 1 in the columns labelled 1 and 4.
The input will only be in the first cell so I am hoping to find a way to automate the placement of 1's in the appropriate column depending on the input in the first column("input").
As a bonus, I'd like all cells not present in the first column to appear as a "0".
I basically have a five column spreadsheet containing address information. While most cells only contain one piece of information, I have quite a few cells that have multiple lines of data in them because the individual has more than one address.
Here is an example. Note that Rows 1-2 contain single address info for each individual person. However, row 3 contains an individual with 3 pieces of address information in the four right hand columns:
Row 1: Unique ID | Name | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code Row 2: Unique ID | Name | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code Row 3: Unique ID | Name | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code
[carriage return in street address, city, state and zip cells]
--------------------------------- |Street Address | City | State | Zip Code
[carriage return in street address, city, state and zip cells]
--------------------------------- |Street Address | City | State | Zip Code
Row 4: Unique ID | Name | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code Row 5: Unique ID | Name | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code
Please note that some individuals have 2-4 different addresses.
I would like to manipulate the 5 rows of example data above so that when I am done I have the following:
1. 7 rows of data (5 individuals with 7 total addresses) 2. Automatically copy and paste the unique id number and name into the two new rows that were created so that I have the following:
Row 1: Unique ID - 001 | Joe Chang | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code Row 2: Unique ID - 002 | Joey Chung | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code Row 3: Unique ID - 003 | John Smith | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code Row 4: Unique ID - 003 | John Smith | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code Row 5: Unique ID - 003 | John Smith | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code Row 6: Unique ID - 004 | Jane Derry | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code Row 7: Unique ID - 005 | Julie March | Street Address | City | State | Zip Code
i have a long column pair of data, each entry in its own cell:
10/5/20088:30:00 AM 10/5/20088:46:00 AM 10/5/20089:14:00 AM 10/5/200810:18:00 AM 10/5/200810:42:00 AM 11/5/20088:30:00 AM 11/5/20088:46:00 AM 11/5/20089:14:00 AM 11/5/200810:18:00 AM 11/5/200810:42:00 AM 12/5/20088:30:00 AM 12/5/20088:46:00 AM 12/5/20089:14:00 AM 12/5/200810:18:00 AM 12/5/200810:42:00 AM 13/5/20088:30:00 AM 13/5/20088:46:00 AM 13/5/20089:14:00 AM 13/5/200810:18:00 AM 13/5/200810:42:00 AM 14/5/20088:30:00 AM 14/5/20088:46:00 AM 14/5/20089:14:00 AM 14/5/200810:18:00 AM 14/5/200810:42:00 AM
how can i program a macro to 'split' this column according to date? please refer to the attached picture as an example. i know this is probably a simple question but please bear with me i'm still new to excel programming.
I'm having a devil of a time trying to preserve the formatting on a pivot table that I made in Excel 2003. As near as I can tell, I've done the appropriate things --- check the preserve formatting box, uncheck autoformat --- but my formatting is not preserved when I pivot.
Adding to the mystery is the fact that some formatting is preserved but not all. I'm guessing either I'm missing something obvious or this is just an unruly, rogue pivot table that refuses to be formatted.
I have a file that will have a maximum of about 25 tabs in it. They are all the same format - Column A have account codes, Column B have the account name and Column C through to Column AD have figures. Column B has a drop down menu, so not all tabs will have the same account code on the same row.
I thought that I would create another spreadsheet in the file and call it a master sheet with the same formats as all the other tabs but this master file will have all of the account codes available and will not have a drop down menu in column B. What I wanted to do was consolidate all of the 25 tabs in the master sheet.
Example Worksheets TAB 1 Acc Code Desc Amount 1________a___10 2________b___10
I am trying to create a master list in a new sheet based on the data contained in 4 separate tabs. The data is Username, Display Name, Company. Unfortunately some users have accounts in 2 of the companies (with the same username) and I need these to default to Company A.
The output need to be username, Display Name, Company.
I am trying to create a worksheet that you fill in data on the master tab, and it copies to the appropriate secondary tab based on set of criteria
I have one worksheet with multiple tabs.
Tab 1 - Master - This tab is updated by admin with new contacts Tab 2 - Customer service rep 1 - This tab will have all the listings that have the CSR1 in a column in the master table. Tab 3 - Customer Service rep 2 - This tab will have all the listings that have the CSR2 in a column in the master table.
Each table has the same columns of data which all need to be copied to the sub tables if the CSR column matches.
Is there a formula that would work to auto copy data from the master to the appropriate sub tab or maybe its needs to be done in VB?
From a master (data entry) spreadsheet of work projects, I'd like to automatically create a tab for each individual contributor that lists all projects they are involved with. The thing is that being a contributor can mean being the lead, assisting with, or being the technician on the project (all columns in the master). To make the individual tabs easier to read, it'd be great to have that tab's contributor name in red, wherever it happens to fall in the various columns.
I've created an example that's a little simpler than reality - in real life there would be 20 tabs for the individual contributors and instead of 3 "Assist" columns there would be 20 columns.
I am creating a spreadsheet to track customer data and need to reference certain cells in individual customer tabs to a master sheet that contains every customer. Each customer will have his own tab, each tab having the same layout, and each client will also have their own row on one master sheet within the same workbook.
My question is, is it possible to reference the specific cells in the clients individual tab to the master list once, and then everytime I copy a new client tab, the referenced cells in that tab are immediately referenced to the corresponding client (new) row in my master sheet within the same workbook?
i have a worksheet that has information filled in columns A-N and rows 3-7262 (not including title and labels)
i need a macros that will separate this data into multiple worksheets based on the word in Column A; these words could be HDA, CCR/NHT, GRU/ATU (essentially dividing this data up by area name, there will be 14 worksheets)
i would also like to be able to update this master worksheet and have it be reflected in the multiple worksheets that are divided by their areas.
How I might go about some VBA code to import a PDF file (that may contain multiple pages), and split each page into its own worksheet.
For simplicity purposes, say the PDF is at "C: est.pdf". My thoughts was to have the code detect how many pages the PDF has and loop through the file, importing each page individually into the workbook; but this is uncharted territory for me.
I am trying to make my macro more dynamic for a spreadsheet I am working on. I have this code which splits out worksheets (using the specific names of the worksheets-not dynamic) from a main workbook into template workbooks (which are basically just an empty workbook because I didn't know how else to do it) and then saves them using the paths below. I would like to make this more dynamic by splitting the different worksheets into new workbooks based on a key column in the hierarchy worksheet.
Basically I have a list of accounts in column B with the file name they should be exported to in column A. There are about 30 accounts being split into 6 different region files. Also note that the same account might be listed multiple times in column A (needed to add multiple numbers for other lookup formulas in the worksheets) but that account worksheet will still only be going to one of the six region files and not to multiple regions. After these are copied to an individual file I would like to save it to a location on my computer. All files will go to this location.
VB: Sub Create_Subfiles()
Dim FDMName As String Dim FBName As String Dim DIYName As String Dim WMName As String
