Removing Checkboxes From Cells?
Jan 26, 2014I have inherited a spreadsheet that had check boxes in it. I don't want to use them. I was able to delete all but 4. I can't figure out how to get them removed.

View 4 RepliesCreating a project tracking sheet that is as automted as possible so that people dont have to populate lots. I have managed to get it to create a new sheet and populate according to a filled out combobox. The user then populates a 'milestone' section. When a button is clicked these are transferred to a GANTT chart type sheet and pasted. Before they are pasted the macro checks if the project title exists, if it does not it first pastes the title LEFT INDENTED. Then follows by pasting the milestones CENTRED. If the title exists, it inserts the milestones under the project title by copying and pasting all milestones. Hence, if milestones are regularly added, it will begin to add duplicates of the same milestone. I need to remove these. I would usually be able to do this however there is often the same milestone in numerous projects which I CANNOT remove as it would loose data. I would like a code that says between the cell I was searching for (Rng) and the next cell which is also left indented to remove duplicates. Basically I can't use x1enddown because it needs to stop at the next cell which has the same formatting... i.e. only duplicates to be removed out of the cells which are centred. I would then like it to repear this action for the whole document and move the next left indented cell and do the same.
It feels like a kind of backward conditional formatting is what I am looking for
Here is my code as it stands
Dim FindString As String
Dim Rng As Range
FindString = Range("D2").Value
If Trim(FindString) <> "" Then

i am removing cell contents using fallowing code
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim row, col
row = ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count
col = ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Columns.Count
For i = 1 To row
For j = 1 To col
Cells(i, j).celarContetents
Next
Next
End Sub
but next time the cell count is showing previous rows value?
I've put together a macro to format an extract from a fuel report but at the end of it I need to remove numbers in front of drivers names.
E.g.
1. John smith
10. Joe bloggs
123. Peter piper
Should end up as
John smith
Joe blogs
Peter piper
All without the number, full stop and the space before the name.
I have a column of numbers that are in sets of 3. (123 456 789) I need to remove these spaces and just see 123456789.

How to remove all the " symbol out of a string of data?
The " symbol appears at different places and i need to remove them all completely. the Find & Replace tool doesn't work because when you have say 3/4" and want it to just read 3/4 it automatically converts it to 03-Apr. even when you have changed the cell formatting to text.
I have a spreadsheet which reads:
A1 E012345678
A2 126789433
A3 ABCDEFGH
A4 CDEEGFFH
A5 E0456783
A6 98765432
etc.
I need only the the data in Cells A1 A5 etc. which means the 3 cells below (A2, A3, A4 ) should be deleted. A5 I need the data, and then A6, A7, A8 I do not need ... A9 need and so on.
the data should be in in one below the next with no spaces in between.
Data is only in column A.
I have imported data and it shows "Check 1234". How can I use a formula to remove "check" from this cell?

The problem is for those names that come thorugh with the Letter and than the number...I don't need the names like that....I would like a Macro that would look at each cell in column A and remove that from those selected cells. I would like my result to look like this...

I have a bunch of cells that have City and Zip Code combinations.
Ex: Chicago 606
Fayettville 72701
SACRAMENTO 95691
Some of them are 3 digit zips and others are 5 digits. I just want to weed out anything with a number leaving the city names.
How do I shift all the cells up labelled data, so that there are no blank rows in between? I tried using the ones found on the forum via search but it is stuck in an infinite loop.

On close I have a basic script to remove all filters and show all cells to keep it consistent for the next user
VB:
Private Sub Worksheet_Deactivate()ActiveSheet.ShowAllData

However, If i open the spreadsheet and don't run a filter when I go to close it debugs as alldata is already shown.
Any work around to keep the existing code working but to not error if all data is shown?
I have a column that is filled with various car brands that a dealership might sell. The data in the cell may look like CHRYSLER; CHRYSLER; CHRYSLER which I would want to just say CHRYSLER. If the cell says CHRYSLER; FORD; CHRYSLER; FORD I want it to just say CHRYSLER; FORD.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm compiling several old worksheets into a single database for a research study. The worksheets contain patient data. Some of the worksheets have the patient's last name, first name, and middle initial entered all in one cell like this: Smith,John R. Compounding the problem is the fact that sometimes the name is entered with a space between the comma and the first name, sometimes not.
I have formulas to break the name out into three separate columns "lName, "fName", "midInit". However, if the name in the original cell has a space between the coma and the first name, then the “fname” column will contain a blank space in front of the name. This is problem because patients names can appear in the database more than once. Some patients are in the database several times.
If patient “John R. Smith”, for example, is entered in the database as”
“Smith” “John” “R “
and also as
“Smith” “<space>John” “R”
then the database won’t recognize them as the same name when I search for John Smith’s data. Right?
If so, then I need a way to eliminate the empty spaces in front of the first names. Like I said, some have empty spaces and some don’t. I could do this by hand, but there are over 1000 entries in these worksheets.
I am creating a formula. The formula needs to be something like this:
[Code]...
Basically, I need the formula to read the value in cell A and if it is a "1" then the value in Cell G will remain, all other values in cell A will erase the values in cell G.
This is my first post on this forum and I am an Excel novice. I have a worksheet with lots of blank cells and I need to shift all the cells with data all the way to the left (to column A). I cannot get the sort or filter functions to do this for me, and I've never used macros but it appears they might be useful for my problem. I'd like to find an automatic process to move the data left rather than drag and drop hundreds of times. I'm attaching the complete xls file for your viewing.

So first i add a row, and then add a checkbox to a specified cell in that row. There is a button for removing rows as well (witch should removes checkboxes as well).
My problem is when i ad the checkbox the linked cell property only works for the first one. When i add the second row the linked cell of the firstly added checkbox changes to the one in the new row and the new checkbox has no linked cell. I am adding the stuffs as follows:

Cells(y, 11).EntireRow.Insert
Cells(8, 11).Copy

I have an Excel file with several worksheets and each of those worksheets has over 600 rows (a list of employees) and above or under 30 columns. Most of cells have trailing spaces in them and they vary in length. For example:

I'm aware of the TRIM function and know that I could at least get a column or a few copied with the spaces removed. However, it would just take so much time. What would be the most efficient way of getting rid of all the trailing spaces in all the cells in all the columns in all the worksheets?
How I can Removing the Black cells in list in data validation ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn a worksheet, J2:J52 contains a list of unique strings; each cell populated by an embedded formula. Some of the cells contain a valid 'blank' "" given by the formula.
I'd like K2:K52 to contain the values J2:J52, with all the populated cells stacked at the top and the 'blank' cells at the bottom. 'Blank' cells do not have to be in any particular order.
I've been fiddling with the formula kindly provided by WindKnife on the second post in the thread below for the past couple of hours, but to no avail:

Columns A:H in the same worksheet are populated and unavailable for use.
I am looking to remove all blanks from a table I have and move all the data left. I have a long list of values in column F of my worksheet. These values appear in random rows for example: cell F3 is 27, cell F9 is 7, cell F13 is 27, cell F20 is 9 ... The data is not evenly spaced any specific number of rows apart, but there are spaces (rows which are blank in column F).
I would like to put all of these values in column G but without any blank cells, and keep the order the same as well. So using the above example, Id like a way to make cell G1 read 27, G2 read 7, G3 read 27, G4 read 9.
Column F could be a very long column im not sure exactly how long as the data is being put in periodically. Some sort of formula that I could just drag down that would read the values from column F and put them in column G with no places would be ideal.
Let's say I have 2 files: Source file and working file. In source file there are some text names in a column that are updated once in a while.
1. I need to create a column in "working file" such that is taking values from column in "source file" even when "source file" is closed.
2. It should take only non empty values, because I need to create a cell with validation list that consists of text names from the column.
Solving attempt: By searching some solutions in forum I found that the first part I can do in the following way: copy column from "source file", select in "working file" a "paste special" option and choose "paste link". It works, but the problem is that it imports all the column: if in "source file" the column consists of words "a" (cell A1), "b" (cell A2) and all other cells in A column are empty - in "working file", after linking, it appears as "a" (cell A1), "b" (cell A2) and all other cells in A column are "0" (zeros) till cell A65536. And I need that in "working file" column after linking will appear as "a" (cell A1), "b" (cell A2) and all other cells will be empty, so by setting one of cells in B column to be a list (by "Data" - "Data validation" - "List" ) - it will consist only from "a" and "b", and not from "a", "b", "0", "0", "0", .... (65534 zeros).
Lets say I have a column, and i have some dates in that column. between each date entry are blank cells, an undetermined ammount.
ie:
------------
column1
------------
(blank)
1/1/2007
(blank)
(blank)
(blank)
2/5/2007
(blank)
(blank)
3/7/2007
(blank)
... etc ...
I would like some type of array formula, that could
agegrate that whole column into a new column, removing the blank cells.
so the new column would be:
--------
Column2
--------
1/1/2007
2/5/2007
3/7/2007
I was thinking something like... but this doesnt get rid of the blanks...
(this is using google spreadsheet, but ARRAYFORMULA, is the same as hitting "CTRL-ENTER" - in excel.
=ARRAYFORMULA(if(isnumber(A9:A17),A9:A17,0))
In a large range of cells, how I can remove the single quote at the beginning of the contents of each cell? (without single quote they would be formulas). It didn't work using CTRL + L and trying to replace the single quote by blank applying this to the whole range. I am currently using Excel 2003.
Example:
cell a1 contents: '= IF (I17 = "----------", "----------", E17-C17)
cell a2 contents: '= IF (I18 = "----------", "----------", E18-C18)
cell a3 contents: '= IF (I19 = "----------", "----------", E19-C19)
....
etc., etc., etc.
I have text of size 14 and 18 mixed in cells in a column. Cells are font size 18 or mixed with both 14 and 18 size text. I need to sort out the text with one column of size 14 and another of 18 only. I am thinking of copying and pasting the column twice and run a macro in first column to remove the text of size 14, and another macro to delete text of size 18 in second column. I need the leftover text to be in same rows.
I tried everywhere and couldn't find a macro for mixed text cells. I am using Microsoft Excel 2010.
I have a spreadsheet which is used by users unfamiliar with Excel. They are using the filter to select records, however when this is used some records appear which have no entry in the cells of that column. Can I overcome this? There is no data in the blank cells, other than a data validation drop down.
