Return Max Finish Date For Projects Using VBA

Aug 14, 2014

I have a spreadsheet containing milestones for several different projects. The number of milestones per project varies.

I need to get the max date for each project using VBA.

Simple Example: 'Project Name' is in column A and the 'Scheduled Finish Date' is in column B.

Project X has 5 milestones with the following Scheduled Finish Dates: (8/15, 8/16, 8/17, 8/18, 8/19) Project Y has 3 milestones with the following Scheduled Finish Dates: (8/20, 8/21, 8/22) Project Z has 6 milestones with the following Scheduled Finish Dates: (8/23, 8/24, 8/25, 8/26, 8/27, 8/28)

I need the macro to return 8/19 for Project X, 8/22 for Project Y and 8/28 for Project Z.

How To Calculate Work Hours From Only A Start And Finish Date And Time

Feb 28, 2013

I can calculate total hours when a user enters a start date/time and a finish date/time. The kick is I only want to include hours from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM (10 hour period). So assuming all the start and end times will be in this range, how can i calculate work hours over multiple days? For example: Start date/time = 2/26/13 2:30 PM and end date/time = 2/28/13 10:30 PM. I want my calculated hours to show 28 hours.

Automatic Finish Date & Time With Lunch Break And Bank Holidays

Feb 13, 2010

I would like a solution for the automatic calculation of the end date and end time for project tasks. I have already spent hours on the issue, thanks for any help on this.

The parameters are:
A1 = Start time 08:00
B1 = End Time 17:00
A2 = break lunch 12:00
B2 = back from lunch 13:00

Task parameters

A5 = start date 01/03/10 (entered manually)
B5 = start time 10:00 (entered manually)
C5 = duration 02:00 (hrs entered manually)
D5 = "end date" >>> (to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)
E5 = "end time" >>> (to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)

the next line should be filled in automaitically according to the hours needed and the previous end date & time

A6 = "start date" >>> (after line 5: to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)
B6 = "start time" (after line 5: to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)
C6 = duration 14:00 (entered manually)
D6 = "end date" >>> (to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)
E6 = "end time" >>> (to be calculated exluding breaks and holidays)

and so on for every new line down.

Projects Per Employee

Apr 17, 2008

I was given a task of calculating bonus for number of projects per employee. The maximum number of projects per employee is 30 and they have completed different number of projects. Data is as follows:

Column A - Name
Column B - Date
Column C - Project

Employee name repeats one row per project and project repeats as they are working with it.

I need to list individual employee names in column D and the number of projects each employee has done in column E. A project can be saved many times thus creating many rows for that same employee. Do you think it is possible to accomplish this. One formula for column D and one formula for column E. If needed I can attach an example file or take a screen shot of it.

How To Measure Hours Against Specific Projects

Aug 4, 2012

I want to set up a spreadsheet where i can log people's time in half day intervals. The spreadsheet will be split into each person and AM and PM sessions with different projects listed against different days. The spreadsheet will also list any overtime they have spent and totalled up at the end of a period. I would like to be able to ask Excel to look through everyones projects and total up how many days everyone has spent on each project eg. if there are 3 people working on 1 project what is the total amount of time spent by everyone. I will then later add their hourly rates and overtime rates and want to total all of this up against the different projects.

Mark The Hours On A Start And Finish Time

Mar 25, 2014

I am working on an excel spreadsheet for work and I have to show a chart that shows the time of day a space is in use. Right now I am having to mark all of these by hand which takes me forever because I have a couple thousand lines of information.

I need to mark the hours in use based off the start and finish time.

For Example:
1) If the start time was 7:00 and the end time was 10:45 then the markers would only mark 7am and 10am
2) If the start time was 7:15 and the end time was 10:00 then the markers would only mark 7am and 9am
3) If the start time was 7:30 and the end time was 10:30 then the markers would only mark 7am and 10am
4) If the start time was 7:45 and the end time was 10:15 then the markers would only mark 8am and 9am

I was given the formula and it works to count the whole hour but now I need the formula tweaked and I don't know how...I need the formula to account for quarterly hours...and I don't know how to fix it.

Attached is an example of the spreadsheet of what I currently have and of what I need. Book1.xlsx

Calculating Start And Finish Times For A Process

Feb 22, 2010

I have a number of processes that I would like to calculate the finish times of.

For example, Process A may take 18 hours to complete, Process B may take 28 hours to complete and Process C may take 125 hours to complete etc

However these processes only run during certain times, i.e. 9am to 5pm.

Ideally I would like to setup a spreadsheet that when given the start time and process time calculates the (date and) time the process will finish.

I can get it to work on a 24 hour day but I've been tearing my hair out trying to take out the none-working part of the day (the 5pm to 9am).

Public last_structure As Range 'Last cell in Column
Public molcell As Range 'Current cell in range

' Establish range of cells in Column A

Set last_structure = Range("A2").End(xlDown)
Set all_structures = Range(Range("A2"), Range(last_structure)) ***

' Loop through each structure in turn
For Each molcell In all_structures

Loop code In here

Next molcell

When I run I get an error message of "Run-time error '1004': Method 'Range' of object '_Global' failed". It does not like the line marked ***.

Compare Dates To Date Range & Return Date Based On Outcome

Jul 1, 2008

I need to compare three cells of random dates shown in Column E, F,& G with Row's H5:AK5, H7:AK7, H9:AK7 (the Dates to these rows is Static on row H3:AK3.) EX: ROW 5 has Start Date, End Date (1) and End Date (2). Compare Cell H3 between Start Date & End Date (1). If H3 falls between or equal to Start and End Date(1) then highlight cell H5. Proceed till AK3 (higlighting only the cells H5:AK5). Then compare cell H3 between or equal to End Date (1) and End Date (2) (higlighting only the cells H5:AK5). Then do the same for ROW 7 and ROW 9.

To make things a bit more difficult I need to have " WK#" in Row 14 (these WK# is on another tab called "Task" of the workbook) needs to be displayed in Row's H4:AK4, H6:AK6, & H8:AK8. EX: Compare Date in D15 between or equal to Start Date & End Date (1) then display Wk# in D14 in H4. Continue till all dates in
D15:Z15 are compared to Start Date & End Date (1) and WK#'s in Row D14:Z14 are inputted if applicable in Row H4:AK4, H6:AK6, H8:AK8. I hope this is not confusing. I can't seem to use the upload option so here is alink to download a jpg of the sheet

DATE Function & IF Function (return A TRUE Or FALSE Based On A Date In A Cell)

Dec 8, 2009

I am trying to return a TRUE or FALSE based on a date in a cell.

for example:

if cell A1 = 07/11/2009

I want A2 to show TRUE or FALSE if A1 is 14 days or more behind todays date.

I have tried stuff like:

=IF(A1=TODAY()-14,"True","False")

but it just always says false. EDIT: I have just noticed that if I change the date in A1 to exactly 14 days behind todays, it returns TRUE. So, it does work. Do I need to add a GREATER THAN in there?

Formula That Points To Another Cell With Formula To Finish First One?

Mar 5, 2014

I'm wondering if it's possible to write a formala that if a certain condition is met, performs a formula referenced in another cell. For example: Column A contains a list of formulas. In column B is the condition, let's use Work Type as an example. The result (or the formula I need) would be in column C. So if the work type is "Type1", then the formula in the corresponding column C cell would perform the formula in cell A5. If the work type is "Type8", then the formula in the corresponding column C cell would perform the formula in cell A2.

Is this possible to do without VBA?

Using Date To Return A Value?

Feb 28, 2014

I have a spreadsheet that is imported from Quickbooks Pro 2012, and it comes over with the following date format:

01/27/2014

I need a formula that will read that and return the value of 25th. To explain, any invoice that is created between the 1st and the 10th of any given month should return the value 1st, any invoice created between the 11th and the 20th should return 15th, and any value returned between the 21st and 31st should return 25th.

Where I'm at:

I'm assuming I'm going to want to use an IF function. Since the digits will always return in the same spot (the 4th/5th spot), I know I want the formula to return the value based on that specific value. I have the following formula that provides similar information/functionality, I'm just not sure how to edit it to return those values.

//=IF(LEFT(D14,1)="I","INV",IF(MID(D14,3,1)="-","CC","ACH"))

I have this formula that does something similar to what I want to accomplish, I'm just not 100% how to edit it to find the value that I want, and then return the value that I want. I guess the biggest issue is that I only understand about 85% of what this formula is trying to accomplish.
