SumIf For Cells Without Strike Through Format
Aug 29, 2006
I'm trying to figure out how to write a sumif formula that will do a sumif on a column of cells and only sum those that aren't struckout. Additionally, I need to evaluate the cells using a 2nd column where the value in that column equals 1. I can't mess with the formula in the 2nd column and I can't add another column for evaluation for the strikeout (I've got a UDF to check for the strikeout) due to some legacy code that tests for the last column ans the column count and I won't mess with this (no comments, no discernable logic). Basically, I need to bable to evaluate the data in place and using one other column.

I have a list of numbers that are strike-through. I know I could just delete them off the list, but I want to keep them there for reference, for year-end audit as an audit trail. I want to sum the list without the strike-through numbers. Can a SUMIF function handle this?

Is there a way I can format a spreadsheet so that as soon as someone highlights a row, that row automatically gets a strikethrough?

I have a list of sales made during a certain period. They are either in £ or $ and are in a list. Essentially like this (but with lots more info):
sale1 £300
sale2 $450
sale3 £150
etc...
What I would like to do is to have two cells at the top which sum only the £ values and a cell whcih sums only the $ values. Is this possible?
My idea to was do a sumif formula based on the cell format of the sales value, but I can't see a way of doing this. The only other way I can see is to have a simple addition formula selecting only the certain cells i want, but this would be labour intensive to maintain, as the formula would need to be updated eachtime a new line is added.

I want to sum values in a column only if the year of the date in the adjacent column is <= to the year in cell F61. the column to evaluate is in the format d/mm/yyyy, and F61 is just yyyy. What I want to accomplish but it doesn't work:
=SUMIF(year(I9:I57),"<="&F61,H9:H57)

I'm looking for a function (I'm thinking 'SUMIF') that will search through column A of Sheet 1 and add column B of Sheet 1 when the cell in column A contains one of the strings listed in column A of Sheet 2. I can only find information when searching for single strings or cells.

I want to use the SumIf function to sum cells when other cells begin with certain characters.
I've toyed with a few ideas of how this could work, but i don't know how to specify that the cells need to begin with certain characters. The cells that would be the criteria and the ones that would be summed come out of an Oracle database (and i have no control over the way they're pulled out - yet) so the beginning characters are connected to extremely unique information, so i dont want that to be included in the if part, for obvious reasons.

I have a column of cells with values - 0.2%, 0.32%, 0.22, 0.5 etc. The cells with % symbol are in ' Percentage, 2 decimal' format while the plain numbers are in 'General' format i.e. column contains cells in either of these formats. I need a macro where I can specify the column and it will select the cells with the % format, convert it to 'General' and multiply the result by 100 eg. 0.2% converted to 'General' becomes 0.002. When multiplied by 100, result is 0.2 i.e. is displayed without the % symbol.

I'm looking to total a range of cells ONLY if they have a value of 0 or more
entered in them. In plain english:
Sumif A1 is >=0
Sumif A2 is >=0
Sumif A3 is >=0
and so on. Where every cell in the range must have a value of 0 or more
entered before the function will return a result.

I have the following formula and it works.
=SUM(IF(AND((Transfers!B6="Labour"),(Transfers!C6="In")),Transfers!G6,""))
Basically the sheet 'transfers' has a column named type and one named in/out, the current formula I have does a logical test on both of these and then if they are both true takes the cost of it from a column named cost. This works fine for single rows. However on another sheet I am trying to use the above formula but there will sometimes be more than one entry for the same date on the sheet 'transfers' and all the same dates that meet the logical test's conditions need to display the sum of the cost on this other sheet.

I'm trying to sum a varying range of cells based on conditions in another column. right now im trying =SUMIF(B:B, "Active", C4:C10)
The number it is returning is not correct and I'm not sure whats wrong. Also, is there a way to allow the range of cells to vary? Like if I wanted to insert a row and have it included in the sum.

I want to do sumif if in Column A that is between range R10 and R99, but I cannot figure out how to get the formula to work right since I have text instead of numbers. Also some of the other sumif's i need to do have only letters (for ex. RAA to RAZ or RDA to RDZ).

R1021
R1417
R1519
R187
R20131
R249

I have a worksheet that is utilizing a VLookup to pull some values from another worksheet based on a composite number. I have checked the numbers for their format, length, and value (dangling spaces, etc.). I still cannot get this VLOOKUP to work correctly. I have attached the file.
Column H on the Cost Report sheet holds the formula in question. It concatenates the values in Columns C,D,E,&F to create a composite number to look for in Column B of the Original Estimate sheet. It is supposed to pull the $ value from Column D of that range.
I have tried everything. I passed the composite number into TEXT, --(Double Unary), INT, tested for both #'s length with LEN and have converted the formatting between text and numbers.

I am trying to pull cell values similar to a SUMIF function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range)). For example, in A1 I use a data list created from data elsewhere on the spreadsheet. In the data I created elsewhere, there are 2 columns being used. The 1st column is the information that is being used to create the list and the second column contains specific values (number or text). In the dropdown menu I select an available value (text or number) . When I have selected that value I would like cell A2 to show what the cell directly to the right of it shows from the data I have elsewhere in the spreadsheet as mentioned. I have tried the SUMIF function however it seems to exclude certain values (number or text) and I am not sure what else to use.

How do I get 'SUMIF' to ignore blank cells? sumif(a1:a10,h1,b1:b10) - then fill down
a= ID number
h1 = ID number
b= cost info
eg 'matt' in 'h' is finding 'matt' in 'a' and reporting on the cost info against that name in 'b', but in the middle of the list a blank is matching a blank and returning a subtotal which is in the cost column. I want to put sumif(a1:a10<>"",h1, b1:b10) but this doesnt work!

How would I write a sumif function to only add consecutive cells that match the criteria? Here is the formula I am using right now, but it adds all of the cells that match the criteria, not just the consecutive ones. Also they need to be consecutive cells from the current cell (in the formula below i would be referring to A80)
=IF(A81<>A80,SUMIF(A$5:A80,A80,H$5:H80),"")
More data:
Column A is a group of dates, but not in order, they are slightly mixed up
Column H is a monetary value.

I have different products with different sizes becoming operational in various months & years. I need to sum those sizes that are operational in a given month/year. In the example below, I have
-product A with 100 unit size, operative since 2007/03
-product C with 200 unit size, operative since 2007/10
So in the table with months on left, and years on top,
from 2007/01 to 2007/02, value must be 0,
from 2007/03 to 2007/09, value must be 100,
from 2007/10 to 2008/06, value must be 100+200=300 and so on.
For this specific example, I tried the following:
Code:
E2 = D2&TEXT(C2,"00")
fill to E7
B11 = sumif(E2:E7,"

I need to get a subtotal of a range (eg: A1:A30), however some cells in this range have #N/A errors due to particular formulas they contain. I could go into these cells and add a formula which 'catches' these errors, but there are far too many given my current time constraints.
Is there any way to use SUMIF to add the cells which do not contain errors and skip the ones that do? (ie: SUMIF($A$1:$A$30,""&"Error Parameter")).

I have a formula to search a sheet for certain criteria and sum up the total, data is entered into this sheet by week number, where I then filter it for whichever week I need. I following formula works fine, but adds all the cells including hidden ones, how can i get it to ignore hidden cells??
=SUM(IF('FT Line 1-RX'!$C$2:$C$2100='FT costs 1-Rx'!B$1,IF('FT Line 1-RX'!$E$1:$GT$1='FT costs 1-Rx'!$A11,'FT Line 1-RX'!$E$2:$GT$2100)))
There is raw data in the 'FT Line 1-RX' sheet which is summed up in the 'FT costs 1-RX' sheet.

How do I get a function to check cells on multiple work sheets.
For example this function searches for the word "hello" in cells, A1 to A50 and then adds up the number in the corresponding cells where "hello" is found from C1 to C50:
=SUMIF($A$1:$A$50,"=hello",$C$1:$C$50)
Two questions:
01) How do I search the same cells in two further work sheet, "Sheet2" & "Sheet3"?
02) Is there a way to search every cell in an entire work sheet?

I have several numbers that are contained in non-adjacent cells. I need to create a cell that will evaluate the cells individually to make sure that they are within a certain range. Once that is done, I want the remaining numbers that are within the range to be averaged. How the heck can I accomplish this task? SUMIF and COUNTIF will not allow me to use non-adjacent cell ranges.

I am trying to use the SUMIF function in excel where I want to sum a range of cells greater than whatever is in cell D8. Here is what I tried to use, but it doesn't work. SUMIF(A2:A10,>D8,B2:B10)
The content in D8 can change because the user makes a choice from the drop-down list and a number pops up in D8 that is referenced to their choice.

I have 2 columns of data, both numeric and the SUMIF needs to say if H1:H100="10" and also if J1:J100="907". I can perform one or the other but not both.
